Prompt: Write a Narnian coffee shop AU.
Caspian stepped into the shop. It had a nice smell, a rich kind of smell. Coffee. He'd never had coffee before now, it just wasn't something the Telmarines did. Now that Narnia was freed however, he felt he should at least try it, if only for the sake of bonding with his subjects more.
"Your Majesty," the faun at the counter said. "What – what can I get you?"
"What do you have? I mean, what would you recommend?"
"The cappuccino is a favorite," the faun said, studying the king.
Caspian nodded. "I'll do that then."
A moment later the steaming hot cup was set in front of him. There was foam on top from the steaming milk and a delicate pattern of cinnamon rested on the top. He picked it up and hesitantly took a sip. It wasn't bad. A bit bitter, but not bad. He sipped again.
The faun examined him curiously. "First time trying coffee, Highness?"
"How did you know?" Caspian asked.
The faun grinned. "Work long enough in this business and you learn to notice things. For you it was the slight pucker at your first sip and the hesitancy with which you ordered."
Caspian flushed, embarrassed.
The faun gave him a warm smile. "No need to worry, Highness. All first-timers do it. You are less noticeable than most."
"What's your name?" Caspian asked.
"Gamus, Highness."
Caspian nodded, finishing his cup. "Thank you, Gamus. I think I'll come again."
Gamus bowed towards the king. "Thank you kindly, Highness. I'll be expecting you."
Caspian laughed. "I look forward to it, especially now that I've got some experience under my belt."
