A/N - Yesterday's chapter didn't upload for some reason, so double update today!
Sesshoumaru waited until the last moment to exit the bus, trying to put as much distance between him and the couple as possible.
The man glanced over his shoulder when they neared the entrance to the building, but Sesshoumaru made a point of brandishing his key card and not making eye contact, pretending to be oblivious.
He didn't have time for an altercation, nor the energy. They'd had a large banquet along with the usual dinner rush, which Bokuseno had once again put him in charge of, and his vision had begun to blur when the dinner plates were served.
He just wanted to sleep.
The man mumbled something to the woman as they waited for the elevator, Sesshoumaru passing them to take the stairs.
"No, thank goodness. I'm looking forward to a nice quiet night," she replied, relief evident in her tone.
He tried not to get his hopes up as he took the stairs two at a time, pleading with any deity that would listen that the woman either take a break from whatever she did while the music was blaring or that her partner would distract her long enough that she wouldn't have time.
Not even bothering to change, Sesshoumaru dropped his bag just inside the front door, then collapsed on his bed—maybe he would get lucky, and her next party wouldn't start for a few hours.
