ACCIDENTAL SINNOH

Arc 1: 5 Stages of Grief

Prologue: The World That I Used To Know

Hey, uh… Welcome! My name is Benedict but you can call me Ben. You see I was just a… normal 15-year-old kid, looking forward to school breaks as usual. I live in… ya know what, screw it. Let's get straight to the point.

What do you think of first when you hear the word 'Pokemon'? The biggest media franchise? A cash cow? When I hear the word 'Pokemon', I think of the anime and the games. I've always adored the anime. That's right, y'all. I have very low standards.

I don't really play the games but there's no denying the fact that it is one of the biggest factors in Pokemon's growth. I didn't grow up watching the anime series but with the power of the internet, nothing is too late. The future is now thanks to science! Hah, I stole that from somewhere. Take a guess.

Now, like every sane person would think, Pokemon was merely a fictional piece of media. Of course, if you'd say that they are real, you would be thrown into a mental asylum but Pokemon not existing here doesn't mean they don't exist elsewhere.

The multiverse theory. When I first heard about the multiverse theory, I only thought it was a possibility. If it does exist, I simply don't believe that human technology would allow such things but somehow, it happened. Not because of the technologies, but because of something… I too have no idea what it was. It was involuntary. I have myself to vouch for that. I experienced that. I was involved. I travelled and warped through space and time.

I am inside the world of Pokemon.

For me, being here is both a blessing and a curse. I get to live my fantasies (which they still are, by the way), and in return, I have to start my life over without my family, homies, and friends. I knew that this was just a one-way ticket. A labyrinth with no exit, an agreement that wasn't agreed upon. This is my life now.

Right, where was I? Okay. It all began in late July 2022. It was the mid-semester break. I've been looking forward to this ever since school started. God, it's just stress all around. When it arrived, I decided, "Hmm… you know what? I'mma touch grass for once." And that is when I decided that I was going to fly over to my friend's house and meet up with him.

Well, time to pack my bags and get going. I kissed my mom goodbye and I called an online taxi to my house 5 hours before my flight. The reason? The traffic sucks during peak hours – because, well, it's peak hours – and I kind of want to get to the airport on time and not miss my flight. That just seems like an ideal thing to do. Checking in is not a concern since I already checked in via the app, but the real problem is the luggage. Well, technically, my luggage can be considered a piece of carry-on luggage, but that just seems like a pain.

As expected, the traffic was horrendous. I swear, the people here drive like turtles trying to take a shit. The car in front of our car took like 20 seconds to enter the roundabout even though it was empty. Sometimes, I wonder what is wrong with people.

Kuching's road system is a fucking shithole, let's be real here.

I arrived at the airport a lot earlier than expected, and for that reason, I was able to send my bags off. Honestly, I was glad I arrived early because my god, were there so many people. My legs already getting tired, so I died a little knowing that I have to stand for in the queue for even longer.

Tell em to bring me my money - the airlines, probably

And now, for the security section. Ah yes, this is where all the 'fun' happens. I'm going to be honest, this part is just a pain, both physically and mentally. This place literally tests your faith and patience. You have to be incredibly tough in order not to break down. My legs felt like they were about to crumble. My mind is… full of disappointment and internal rage and there was this woman who had casually cut the queue right in front of me. The audacity of some people, honestly.

Fortunately for me, the security guard noticed her and told her to wait for her turn and for a moment there, I celebrated internally and after I got through, I went to a small shop, got myself some snacks, and made my way to my gate with plenty of time to spare.

I munched on the bread that I just bought, letting the flavour seep in as I appreciate the flavour that has long since been forgotten. Hey, shoutout to Gardenia for making this. Not to be confused with Gardenia, the gym leader. I mean, Gardenia the company. Gardenia Foods Pte Ltd. Ya know what, nevermin-

*bing bong* "Attention to all passengers, please be advised that AirAsia flight AK5207 has been rescheduled to 4:30 p.m. Thank you." *bing bong*

Oh for fucks sake.

I was sitting leg-crossed as I look out the big window looking out to the apron. My flight had just landed when I sat down on the metal bench. When it finally arrived, however, I couldn't help but ponder its beauty.

9M-RAZ, a gorgeous brand-spanking-new Airbus A320 NEO, with a special livery. A special livery that perfectly represents its home. Two hornbills sitting on the same tree branch, a proboscis monkey just minding its own business. Mount Murud and Mulu Pinnacles are both visible in the background. At the back of the plane, is a script that says, 'We Welcome You To Sarawak'. It doesn't look like someone slapped some jpegs on it and called it a day, nononononono. Someone actually took the time to design this. I love the simple art style and it kind of reminds me of Kurzgesagt's, which I adore. Every line is crisp and painted to perfection. When someone painted this, I knew for a fact that they took extra time to paint it. If this plane is a woman it'd fu-

*bing bong* "Attention to all passengers of AirAsia flight AK5207. AK5207 bound to Kuala Lumpur is now ready for departure via gate 5, gate 5. Thank you." *bing bong*

Before I boarded the plane, I figured I'd call my friend who will be picking me up from the airport to let him know I was about to board the plane so I took out my phone, almost dropping it and dialled his number.

"Yo, dude. I'm about to board the plane."

*Wait what? Why didn't you tell me sooner?*

"What do you mean tell you sooner? You want me to call you when I'm at the security checkpoint?"

*No- You know what? Nevermind. I'll be there.*

"Yea… sorry 'bout that. Alright, see ya."

I closed my phone and put it back into my backpack. Looking around, I realized that there weren't so many people at the gate, so I'm guessing that the tickets didn't sell very well. I approximated that there were like... 30 people? That doesn't look very profitable, does it? Either way, I'm not complaining. No babies and no toddlers crying. Peace for once.

I boarded the plane and went straight for my seat, which is all the way to the back of the plane. For once, I didn't even bother putting my backpack in the overhead compartment because I'm… short. Well, I can reach it but it's gonna be quite a hassle.

Staying up until 3 in the morning did me no good and I was still tired from all the walking and standing. I feel like dozing off but my determination won't let me. I have a duty and that is to record a video of the plane taking off. I can't let the streak die like that, nonononono, I wouldn't allow it and the sunk cost fallacy wouldn't allow it. The grind CANNOT stop. After that, there wasn't much for me to do except wait so I went ahead and dozed off.

When I woke up when I felt something pull me to the right. Opening my eyes, the lights were off and the plane was shaking. The lack of engine noises concerned me as I knew something went horribly wrong.

"...Huh…?" I said, eyes still closed and still very much confused.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we will be making an emergency landing. Stow your tray tables, and ensure all carry-ons baggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you. Check to see that your seat belt is securely fastened low and tight across your lap. Keep your seat belt fastened until the aircraft comes to a complete stop. You will need to br- You will need to be seated in a brace position for landing. To brace, place your feet, flat on the floor, cross your wrist, and hold onto the seat in front of you."

"What… is going on?" I asked myself. To remind you, the plane was still shaking so I was swaying from left to right with my head hitting the side wall of the plane occasionally. My brain was still loading from being woken up suddenly.

I had just awoken from my fine slumber, and I was still processing the trauma of waking up, so I do not know which stage of the flight we were on. For all I know, we could be above the ocean for all I know, or this could've been right after take-off. I slowly opened my eyes and looked out the window and saw that it was dark outside. "How is it nighttime? It was… wait…" I cut off that thought and decided to not think much of it.

The plane descended fast as it passed through the dense cloud. The terrain below came into view. A dirt track was visible in the distance, and most importantly, a small town. "A civilization! I won't be lost when I survive this crash... if I survive, for that matter." I told myself, not being very optimistic. The plane turned towards the dirt track and approached it like how it normally would on a normal runway.

This is going well enough.

That wasn't a joke.

When it was like 50 meters (165 feet) from the ground, I felt my heart drop. No- I literally felt like my heart dropped. And that was when I knew that the plane was dropping.

The wings on my side of the plane impacted the top of a large tree. It sheared off and the plane began to roll and yaw to the right. The nose of the aircraft impacted the ground first, as I saw the front of the plane snap off right in front of me. The tail section, which was the section that I was seated in, was thrown further away from the rest of the aircraft. Even though it was relatively intact, I couldn't help but question:

"How am I still alive?"

I was still in my seat, dazed and confused, wondering how the hell I survived. I got up and left my bag behind. Lots of smoke engulfed the wrecked cabin, which prompted me to hurry up. I opened the emergency exit and jumped out.

I looked around and everything looked very unfamiliar. The trees looked different. The ground felt different. Hell, even the air just smelled odd. I began to wonder where I exactly was and that I might not be where I thought I should be.

The pouring rain helped to control the fire a little bit, but that didn't matter anymore.

*BOOM*

"FUCKING HELL!" I cussed out. I nearly tripped from the shockwave of the explosion.

The midsection of the plane exploded into oblivion, sending debris everywhere. I was unlucky enough to have a 'sudden visitor' when I felt a sharp pain in my right leg and left arm. Shock was sent throughout my body as I glanced at my arm and was horrified to see that I'd been stabbed by a metal shard.

"FUCK!"

"IT HURTS. IT FUCKING HURTS. LET ME PERISH."

My exhaustion got the best of me. My head felt light and I cannot hear anything except ringing. My legs began to tremble as I fell to my knees. It was like my consciousness was slowly being pulled away from my body. My mind got fuzzy and I lost track of time. Eventually, I came to the realization that I was in terrible danger of fainting.

I had been too tired to observe the surrounding area. There was a dim moonlight but other than that, darkness surrounded me. Blood was flowing down my legs as it was mixing with rain water pouring from above. I felt off balance, my body felt numb. I couldn't feel my legs and I don't think they can support me any longer. Eventually, I came to the realization that I was in terrible danger of fainting.

I fell face first into the ground and I blacked out.

A Riolu was wandering late at night. As it wandered endlessly through the deep Sinnoh forest it contemplated its past actions. It had been walking for what seemed forever. It was cold, hungry, and had nowhere else to go. It seemed like it was the end for him and that he would be dying alone. A sense of regret washed over its mind.

Its former trainer had left it but his words never did. The guilt. He could've done better. It knew he could but it didn't. Why couldn't it? It wanted to go back but at the same time, it didn't.

Guilt.

Embarrassment.

Disappointment.

Its thoughts were interrupted by a faint swish becoming louder and louder. A wave of aura becoming stronger and stronger. Curious, it ran in the direction of the sound. As it peeked from behind a bush, it saw a horrifying sight. Something catastrophic had happened here. Then, it finally dawned on it. The huge wave of aura, the wreckage made out of what seemed to be man-made objects, and the fire all around could only mean one thing. There were people or pokemon there. It could try to save them but will it even be worth it?

Now, the aura was getting weaker and just like little lightbulbs, each of them turned off one by one… except for one that stood out.

Out of nowhere, it saw a man frantically trying to get out of the wreck. He sprinted as fast as he could away from the catastrophe.

It felt a strange aura emanating from this man. In fact, the wave of aura that it felt before was strange and this person's aura was only a small part of it. The aura in a way flickered around his body. It wasn't a normal aura, no, this one felt… strange. It was odd. It can tell that he was weak, dazed and disoriented. Never have it ever felt this kind of aura before, no, not even in the cities or whatever those places humans call home. Needless to say, the Riolu was curious and it had to find out why.

Suddenly, an explosion shook the surroundings. The Riolu covered its face with its arms. As it lowers them, a blazing fire lit up the environment all around. He could faintly hear the man screaming. It looked back toward the man. He began to slow down before falling face-first into the ground.

Concerned, the Riolu walked up to the man and held out its paws. After all, its aura was the only effective way of communicating with its former trainer.

"Hey, are you okay?" the Riolu said.

The man was in fact, not okay. His aura flickered dimly but he was still alive. Barely alive.

The Riolu looked at the man's body. Inspecting it closely, it realized why the man dropped to the ground in the first place. Two metal shards went straight into his right leg and left arm. Blood was flowing out of the wounds and seeped into his clothes. His skin was pale. The Riolu gasped, took a step back and covered its mouth with its little paws. "Oh no… Is he dead?"

Red and blue lights flashed in the distance and the sirens got louder every second. Startled by the lights and the sound, the Riolu quickly jumped back to behind a bush. Relieved that it was not spotted, it watched as a whole convoy of vehicles pulled up in front of the man. A group of people in white clothing lifted him onto a board with wheels– not knowing what its actually called – and put him inside the back of the ambulance. A person that was leading the whole convoy instructed something, her voice was inaudible. It saw one of the vehicles turn back to where it came from whereas the rest of the convoy continued on their journey.

There was no telling what would happen to theperson. Will time tell or will it keep it a secret? Until then, it can only move on with its failing life.

…mumbling. Ringing filled the silence.

"What happened? Am I dead? No? Why is it so dark? Where am I even?"

…more mumbling

"AH! OWHUHUH! What was the- OW! What the hell?! What?"

…more mumbling

"It hurts… so much…"

The ringing faded and the darkness begone as the abyss filled its place.

AN:

Welcome to another generic SI-OC and my first ever fanfiction! Shout out to Captain Moon Light, (CaptainMoonshine on this site), NuvosTails (Neovilus Alpheim on this site), and Bman for beta-reading this.

If you read this chapter until the end and gave it a chance, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. If you read this chapter and thought, "Yea this guy had no idea what he's doing,", then you'd be partly correct. If you read this chapter and favorite it and followed it. Man, I'd give you a kiss on the forehead. I am capable of writing far worse! Trust me, if you read the first version of this story, you'd have a brain aneurysm. Prepare for a journey full of bad jokes and possibly tragedies if I felt like it. You'd never know.

And on that bombshell, good night.

Cue the TopGear end credits!

AN No.2 (For the remaster/rework idfk):

I'mma be real with y'all. I kind of cringed when I read this again though I tried to keep it as original as possible while also adding depth and maturity to this chapter. Man, I wasn't lying when I said this was a bombshell.

Anyway, long story short, I have polished this chapter. Bueno adios master. Bye bye!

Have fun reading this all over again.
