Chapter 4: Chunin Exams Part 1
It had been a week since Naruto and the others had arrived in Konoha and it was an interesting week to say the least. The rumor had gone around that there was another Namikaze and one who was their Yondaime's son. People could easily see the similarities, so it was safe to assume how it would go. People would treat him as if he was everything since people had started calling him Namikaze-sama when he would be wandering the village waving at people who'd say hi to him. He met a number of people who knew his parents including his fathers other student and he loved meeting them. He got to know a lot about his parents through them and it was an amazing experience when he and Rin had an interesting conversation with their Tailed Beasts.
*Flashback*
Naruto had been asked to head to the Hokage's office for some reason. He was only told that there was someone who wanted to meet him which made him curious. He had decided to bring Mira and Cana with him. He got to the office and knocked at the door when he heard someone say, "enter." He walked in to see Obito there doing paperwork, Kakashi was there, but it was the other person who he didn't recognize. The person turned around to see him and she gasped seeing him. It was a woman with brown hair trimmed like a bowl cut with small purple rectangles on her cheeks. She was wearing a standard vest like Kakashi was and pants.
"Hello. I take it you were the person who wanted to meet me and based on your reaction on seeing me I'm gonna assume you recognize me or at least my features?" Naruto asked.
"Y-yes. Sorry for staring. It's just you look exactly like your father. I'm Rin Uchiha, one of your fathers students and I'm like you, Naruto-kun. I'm a Jinchuriki as well, but for the Three-Tailed turtle Isobu." She introduces herself to him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. It's nice to meet another Jinchuriki like me. I'm the Jinchuriki for the Nine-Tailed Fox Kurama. These beautiful girls with me are Cana Alberona and Mirajane Strauss, wizard mages of the guild I am with." He replies with a smile.
"We're also his girlfriends." Mira says with a grin kissing his lips.
"Oh look, he's shy about it. How cute" Cana adds to it, teasing him as she kisses him as well.
Not being able to stop the blushing before he shakes his head," Will you two stop it. You're embarrassing me." He pouts at them making everyone laugh at him for his situation.
"It's nice to meet you finally. I would like to hear more about you and get to know you while you're in the village if that'll be okay." She said before she hears something Isobu said something to her which makes her curious.
"Naruto-kun, bump my fist. Isobu apparently wants to meet you." She tells him as he does what she says and they bump fists. When they do they appear in the familiar mindscape, but something different this time.
Inside Mindscape
"Well this is certainly interesting. It's good to see you again Isobu." Kurama said to his brother.
"And you as well Kurama. I see you've changed and it's good to see you getting along with your Jinchuriki. I'm surprised though that you are though." Isobu said surprised about what he was seeing.
"Well I was close with Kushina and Minato. I told them I would look after their son and I will not break that promise." He replied back to him with a glare.
"So this is Isobu? It's nice to meet you. I'm Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze. It's not everyday that I get to meet one of Kurama's siblings. I hope we can get along with each other." Naruto said to him with a smile.
"The pleasures all mine Naruto. There's a chance you'll get to meet other Jinchuriki's with the Chunin Exams. From what I was told, my youngest brother Shikaku's jinchuuriki will be attending it as one, but be warned. Shukakau tends to drive his hosts insane with how much he loves to kill and fight. Not to mention he hates Kurama too, so be careful around him. By the way, how is training in using my brother's chakra going for you?" Isobu asks, curious about what he's able to do so far.
"It's going well right now. I can use up to six tails worth of his chakra without losing control and he's been a great teacher and friend about it, but he is harsh but good nonetheless. That is until he's acting like a pervert." Naruto said, glaring at his partner for all the perverse remarks he made about the girls.
"Oh come on now Naruto. You know it's true with what I say about them. I mean Cana and Mira are both incredibly beautiful and would make fine mates for you kit. You'll get more though with how you are with everyone. I'm not wrong either. You know you'll get others that will be interested in you in the future. Especially since you know of the CRA. Hahaha." Kurama said laughing at his blushing mess of having more girlfriends than just being with Cana and Mira.
"Oh shut up you perverted fox! Don't go putting thoughts like that in my head!" Naruto shouts at him while Rin and Isobu are watching with amused expressions at the banter between the two. They were surprised to see them getting along so well, but happy that things were going well for them.
"Two girlfriends already huh?" She asked with a smirk watching him blush. "It's okay you know, your father was quite the ladies man from what your mother told me when they were in the academy and after they graduated. He only had eyes for Kushina though. She was like a mother to me. Terrifying as she could be, she was also a very kind and compassionate person." Rin said with a smile at seeing him excited to know more about his mother.
"Thank you Rin. It means a lot to hear about her from one of my father's students. Have you been doing well here? I heard from my father's letter about the life of a Jinchuriki not being the best. Are you doing okay?" He asked, worried about her life here in the Leaf.
"It's been okay Naruto-kun. It hasn't been easy, but things are getting better here for me. It wasn't easy for me once I became a Jinchuriki, but I wouldn't want to change it for anything. Isobu and I have grown and bonded. He's become my partner and a good friend to me." Rin smiles at her life as it was getting better for her.
"I'm glad. I would've been worried if things weren't getting better for you. We should head back out now. I'm sure Obito would like to talk to you about something." Rin said.
"Of course. It was a pleasure meeting you Isobu and hope to talk to you again soon." He said as he leaves the mindscape along with Rin.
Outside of Mindscape
"Was there something else you wanted to discuss with me, Hokage-sama?" Naruto asked.
"Yes. I wanted to inform you about the Chunin Exams with which villages will be participating this time. As you know there are many villages throughout the continent with the 5 great nations, along with them are smaller ones in their lands. The villages who will be taking part in it will be Sand, Waterfall, Lightning, and the Sound. Each will be sending one team with Konoha having 4 teams taking the exams and then your team as well. I wanted to let you know so your team can prepare for what to expect.
"I see. Thank you for letting me know I'll be sure to let Mira-chan and Erza know about this information. Is there anything else that I should know?" Naruto asks.
"No. You're dismissed." Obito said to him.
"Thank you Hokage-sama." Naruto said and disappeared in a fire shunshin.
The door closes and Rin turns to Obito. "How well do you think he and his team will do?" Rin asks her husband.
" I think they will surprise us with their skills and abilities. Naruto will be the biggest surprise, since he will be reminding a lot of people of his father looking nearly identical to him and with him having soon mastery of the Hiraishin will really change things around here." Obito smirks at her while she laughs at knowing how right he is.
*End Flashback*
Line Break (A week Later)
Naruto, Mira. and Erza are heading to the academy for the first part of the Chunin Exams. They weren't worried about it and could handle whatever is thrown at them. Naruto was wearing an an black shirt with orange stripes on the edges of the sleeves, while wearing some black anbu pants that he picked out from the weapons store for Shinobi, while wearing boots to cover his feet. You could see his Fairy Tail mark on his forearm. Mira had her standard gothic look while linking her arm with Naruto while Erza was walking besides them talking to them. She was wearing her usual outfit with her Heart Kreuz armor. They enter the academy knowing the need to get to room 301 when they stumble upon a scene where a group of genins are trying to get into a room with two chunins keeping them out.
"Do they not realize what's going on? It's not that hard to notice what's going on right?" Naruto whispers to them.
"No. I see it too. We went two floors up and we need to get to another floor." Erza said with a nod.
"This is too easy. What are they thinking?" Mira said as she was about to say something to them until Naruto grabbed her hand to stop her. She looks back at him with a confused look when he shakes his head at her.
"Don't. This a test to weed out the ones who can't figure this out before the exams actually begin. If they can't get past this, then they aren't ready to move up in the ranks." Naruto tells her nodding at his reasoning. They had gone to leave when they heard a loud voice.
"Hey drop this Genjutsu. This is only the second floor." An arrogant voice said.
"Great. He just had to say something." Naruto said. He'd heard about this person who's name he found out to be Sasuke Uchiha. He was not liking what he heard about him. He was an arrogant person who he thought was better than everyone else. He also found out that he had the Sharingan like himself, but wasn't matured like him. He thought the Sharingan was the greatest Dojutsu in the world that everyone should fear and bow down too.
"Let's just go. I don't want to be around him any longer than I need to be." Mira said when Sasuke grabbed her arm and she turned around when she saw him smirking.
"Why not ditch the loser and come with an elite like me? I'm sure I'd be better than him." Sasuke said arrogantly thinking he would have her attention like everyone else.
"I'm sorry, but I already have a man and I don't go for weaklings anyway." Mira tells him with a smirk before shaking his grip and walking off.
Sasuke fumes at being denied as everything was given to him. "Weakling huh?! I'm an elite Uchiha who has Sharingan. No one can defeat me." He said with a smirk.
"Oh is that so? Sorry, but I'll still pass and the same goes for my other teammate. See ya later weakling" Mira said with the rest of the team walking off leaving an angry Sasuke and a screeching pink haired banshee.
"How dare she say no to me. Does she not know who I am? I'm Sasuke Uchiha, an elite. No one says no to me." He shouts angrily.
"Sasuke is sooo cool!" The pink haired banshee screeched.
Line break
They make it to the entrance of the room when they Gildarts there waiting for them with a smile on his face. "It's good to see you guys made it in time. Go show them what Fairy Tail can do and good luck to you three." He said.
"Thanks old man. We'll have a good time." Naruto said with a smirk as they walked in. They immediately feel the killer intent coming from the genin which is pathetic compared to what they've gone against already.
'Wow. That's pathetic. Hey Kurama, wanna show off a bit what real killer intent feels like?' He asks his partner, seeing him grin evilly, liking what his host has in mind.
'I thought you'd never ask kit. This will be hilarious to see them cower in fear and wet themselves.' He responds.
Naruto then blasts his killer intent using some of Kurama's chakra flooding the room making everyone there except a few gasp for air and many collapsing to their knees not able to stand it. When he lifted it after some time, many of the genins leave the room rapidly not wanting to take part anymore.
Lounge Room
Everyone was watching the classroom as the genins were filling in when they saw Naruto make many teams leave the room after using his killer intent which was much greater than theirs.
"What the hell? He just made a number of teams give up before it even began! That's something for sure. Gildarts, you're his sensei correct? What has he been doing over there?" Kakashi asks, shocked at how much KI he was putting out for a genin.
"Oh he's just been training a lot and with the kind of missions he's been on. That was nothing compared to that." Gildarts said with pride.
"He's the Fourth's son, correct? I can see the resemblance is amazing. He looks nearly identical to his father, but I do wonder, where has he been the last 14 years because this is the first time I've seen him since he's been back?" A woman with black hair and beautiful red eyes. She wore a skirt with bandages over her body and hands with a red shirt with the sleeve on one arm with the other being bare while his forehead protector was over her forehead.. This was Kurenai Yuhi team 8's leader.
"He's been away. It's something I can't really say besides, I don't think you'd believe me anyway. If you really want to know, go ask Hokage-sama about it. I will tell you this though, he'll be a tough opponent for sure." Kakashi said with an eye smile, proud of his teacher's son.
"We'll see about that Kakashi. Our teams can handle it, but he will be something. I am interested in seeing what he can do." A bearded man who had brown hair was wearing the standard Jonin attire while smoking a cigarette with his leaf headband over his forehead. This man was Asuma Saturobi, the leader of Team 10.
"He's a very youthful person who seems to be excited for the exams. My team though is youthful and will be surprising as well." A man wearing a green spandex outfit with brown leg weights on his ankles, with the Jonin vest with a bowl cut." This was Might guy. The leader of Team 9.
"Oh you'll see. It's not just Naruto that'll be impressive. His teammates are also gonna be good as well with what they're capable of.
"I haven't seen either of them as well for that matter. Who are they?" Kurenai asks.
"The redhead is Erza Scarlet who's like a brother to Naruto and the other is named Mirajane Strauss and one of his girlfriends." He says giggling perversely along with Kakashi who's reading his icha icha book.
"Two? So he's a pervert too?" She asks, getting angry about it.
"No. No. Not at all. He's an innocent kid. It was their idea to share him. You see he'd rather not date neither one of them to hurt their feelings than to pick one of them until they told him that they were okay with sharing him.
Once she hears this. She calms down smiling at him, sounding like a gentleman as there aren't many like that nowadays. "That's good. Sorry for misjudging him like that Gildarts." She said to him,
"It's alright, shall we get back to watching exams now?" He asks them nodding.
Back to Exam Room
Everyone had settled in and were waiting for the test to begin. Naruto, Mira, and Erza were in one of the corners away from everyone observing the rest of the teams that had stayed in the room. He noticed a few of them that had caught his attention based on their chakra signatures. One he noticed was a red haired boy who had black eye rings around his eyes with the kanji for love written on his head with a giant gourd on his back. It wasn't until Kurama contacted him.
'Naruto. The one with the gourd is the Jinchuriki for the one-tailed raccoon, Shukaku. Based on what I'm seeing through you he looks like he hasn't slept at all which concerns me knowing how my brother is. He's making it impossible for him to sleep lest he risks him breaking out of the seal. I think whoever sealed him into the redhead did a lousy job. I'd check it out soon before something bad can happen.' Kurama said worried about his host and mad about what his brother had done to him. There's also another Jinchuriki here in the room, she's the one with green hair and orange eyes." He continued.
'I will Kurama. Thanks for letting me know. I'll look into it after the test, but I'll introduce myself.' He said cutting the link between them.
Naruto looks over at the boy and then back at his teammate and girlfriend. "Girls, I'll be right back. There's something important I need to take care of real quick while we're waiting for the exams to begin." He said as he left and headed towards the sand team.
As he walks towards the three genins, he takes the opportunity to see the other competition as he sees one is a girl who has blonde hair who is about his height. She was wearing four ponytails. She wore a single light purple colored, off the shoulders garment that extended to halfway down her thighs, with a red sash tied around her waist. She wore a fishnet over her exposed shoulders, along with on her left thigh and right calf. She had a large fan next to her. The other was a boy who looked like a cat with face paint on with everything black. He walks up to them with a smile before he faces the redhead. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Namikaze Uzumaki Naruto. May I get your names as well? He asked him.
"Sabaku no Gaara." He said emotionlessly. "Mother wants your blood for some reason since she's screaming at you. Why is that?"
"I can probably answer that one. You can call me nine." He said smirking at seeing their shocked faces at meeting another Jinchuriki who also knows that Gaara was one too. "The reason I came over here was to ask if you'd like your seal checked and reworked. I can tell based on your eyes that you don't sleep and I'd like to help with that since we're brothers by Jinchuriki status. I'm a level 9 seal master and can give you a better seal where you can sleep and not risk Shukaku escaping." He said to them.
"Really you'd do that?" Gaara asked, hoping that he wasn't messing with him along with his siblings.
"Of course. After the exam I can take a look at your seal if you'd like. If it's as bad as I think. I can get a new one for you soon. Good luck on the test you three." He finishes and leaves giving them much to think about.
He then heads over to where he saw the other Jinchuriki and when he saw her, his jaw was hitting the ground with how beautiful she looked. He was able to get to her with a smile one that she returned since she was able to recognize his chakra being similar to her.
"Hello miss seven. It's a pleasure to meet you." Naruto introduces himself with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you as well, mister nine. It's great to meet another one like me. My name is Fuu. What's your name?" Fuu asked him.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze. I know we don't have enough time, but I was hoping to become friends and get to know you better when the exams are done or when we get a break. What do you say?" He asks her, but is surprised when she hugs him with a big smile on her face.
"Of course Naruto-kun. I'd love to be your friend. I like making new friends so this is perfect for me. Good luck in the exam." She said with a smile which makes him blush a bit, something that Mira notices and smirks at.
"O-Of course Fuu-chan. I'll see you later and good luck as well." He said before heading back to the girls.
As he heads back to his group with a grin on his face, the girls see it and wonder what's made him so happy. "What did you talk to them about Naruto-kun? You seem so excited about something." Mira said to him. " I also saw you with that blush when you were talking to the green haired girl. Are you interested in her or something?" She teases him.
"W-What of course not. We barely just met and besides she will be staying here when we leave, so it wouldn't work out anyway." He said.
"And about the others I talked too. Me and Kurama had a nice chat and we were able to figure out that the redhead is like me. And based on his eyes. He never sleeps, so I talked to him about fixing his bogus seal that barely holds his tailed beast. Whoever did the sealing is a disgrace to seal masters and I will be damned if I don't fix it for his sake." Naruto tells them much to their surprise at meeting another Jinchuriki like Naruto.
As he finished, he heard someone shout out and when they looked, they saw it was a boy who had a feral look on him. He was wearing a gray hoodie with black pants with white wrappings on the thigh. He had black hair with red markings on his cheeks with a forehead protector signifying the leaf village that he's from along with his teammates walking in.
"Looks like everyone made it! It'll be interesting to see how far everyone gets. Right?" He asked while smirking at his old classmates.
"Well don't you seem confident." Sasuke smirked at him.
"Of course! We've been training a lot these past months for the exams." Kiba boasting his strength.
"You guys are way too loud." Another voice spoke up and turned around to see it was a guy with gray hair wearing glasses.
"And who are you exactly?" Sakura asked him.
"I'm Yakushi guys should look around the room and see the commotion you're causing for yourselves.
Everyone had looked around and they were embarrassed except for Sasuke seeing how they really were the center of attention with how loud they were being.
"Umm Kabato? How many times have you taken the test? Sakura asked nervously.
"This is my 7th time taking the exams. It's not that uncommon that the exams are taken more than once since they are meant to be challenging and not everyone moves up in rank their first time." He explained to them. He then pulled out a deck of cards before asking, "would you like to know about anyone's abilities?"
"Give me information on Sabaku no Gaara, Rock Lee, and Namikaze Uzumaki Naruto." Sasuke demanded him, wanting to know about his opponents.
"Oh good. You already know their names. That makes it easier for me to find out." Kabuto smirked.
Kabuto goes on to give information on Gaara and Rock Lee, and by this point, everyone that was listening was astonished about their accomplishments and abilities, especially Gaara having never been injured on a mission.
"Namikaze Uzumaki Naruto: He's completed 30 D-ranks, 20 C-ranks, 25 B-ranks, and 20 A-ranked missions. He specializes in Fuinjutsu, Kenjutsu, Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, and Genjutsu. His affinities are wind, water, and fire being efficient in all three of them. His teammates are Erza Scarlet and Mirajane Strauss." He explains much to the amazement of everyone seeing the amount of missions he's done with the exception of Sasuke who is seething at someone who is stronger than him. Everyone looking at him now, all he does is shrug his shoulders.
Before anything else could happen, an explosion happened and when the smoke cleared, it revealed a man standing almost two meters tall.
"Alright maggots. Playtime is over!"
Everything goes as Normal except Naruto secretly uses his Sharingan to copy someone's writing. (Timeship to the end of first exam)
Not long after the exam finished, the window broke revealing a black ball when a woman appeared and threw two kanai's to the ceiling, revealing a banner behind her.
"Listen up you maggots! No time to celebrate! I'm your proctor for the second exam. The Sexy and Single Anko Miterashi!
Ibiki comes around the banner sighing at his comrade. "You're early again Anko."
Anko sheepishly rubs the back of her neck arriving early, but looks around noticing there are a lot of genins left for the exam. "Seriously Ibiki! There's still this much left? You're getting soft on me aren't you?" She asked.
"Or we just have a good crop this year that is full of surprises." He said back knowing that a lot of them will do well, especially Naruto.
"Well it doesn't matter. I will be able to cut these numbers in half by the end of the second portion." She sadistically smirks at the genin who gulps nervously except for Naruto, Mira, and Erza who looked impassive at her declaration. "Alright everyone meet me over at training ground 44 in 20 minutes or you'll be disqualified if you are late getting there." She said.
Line Break
Naruto and the others had made it to the training ground waiting for their proctor so they could begin the second part. It didn't take long for her to show up with a giant grin on her face. "Alright everyone I'm going to need to take these permission forms and sign them. They basically say that if you die during the second part, that the Leaf will not take the blame for any deaths that occur." She explains when she spots Naruto talking to Mira about something and throws a kunai at him until he catches it with two fingers. She appears behind him with another kunai leaning it into his neck. "You know the ones who don't pay attention are the ones who die first on missions even if they're as cute as you are." She smirked seductively at him until she felt a kunai into her stomach. "I could say the same to you and me and my girlfriend here were talking about how beautiful you are." Naruto whispered huskily into her ear making her blush from the teasing.
"Oh I like you gaki. We'll have to talk more afterwards if you'd two be up for it." She whispers back before licking his cheek making him shiver from the action.
She goes on to finish explaining the test and what the purpose of the second portion is. "Alright good luck in the Forest of Death and try not to die okay?" She smirks at them. "Begin!" She shouts with the gates opening up.
The second portion began and Naruto, Mira, and Erza were making good time with how fast they were getting across the forest. Now they need to find the other scroll they need.
"Alright Naruto, do you know which scroll we will need to finish this part of the exam?" Erza asked him.
"Well we have an earth scroll, so we'll need to get a heavenly scroll before we can finish even though we're already a lot of ground covered. " Naruto tells them.
"We will need to engage another team and hope they have the scroll we need otherwise we may be here for a while. I'd rather hurry and be done with this so we can relax for the rest of the time until the timer runs out." Mira said to them, nodding at her.
"Well we're in luck. I sense a group about 100 meters from us and we can start with them." Naruto said using his sensing ability.
"Then lead the way, Naruto-kun. I'm itching to take on someone and this will be fun for me." She grins at her boyfriend making him sigh at her antics but smiles nonetheless.
Line Break
A team was talking to themselves about a plan to get another scroll while they're being watched by Naruto, Mira, and Erza who are hiding in trees above them ready to take them out. Naruto then gives the signal to each to take their targets and it doesn't take long for each one to handle their opponents.
"Tch well that sucked. I was hoping they'd at least be able to notice us, but they didn't until we landed and by then they were already done for." Mira said in annoyance.
"Yeah I know Mira-chan, but we have the scroll at least now, so we can head to the tower and be done with this portion." Naruto said.
Line Break
They make it to the tower and then open the scrolls which make puffs of smoke. When it clears, it reveals to be Gildarts smiling at his guild members.
"Glad to see you made it you three. Good job on getting this portion done so quickly in record time too I might add. You're the first team here and so you can take the next five days resting since you won't be allowed to leave the tower until this part is over." Gildarts said.
And that's the end of the chapter. I know some were expecting more action, but I wanted to brush through the first two parts, but the next chapter will be more action packed. See you guys next time. KillerSSGRed out!
