Prompt: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… but not in the context of a wedding.

"So first, we need something old," Susan hears Lucy say from down the hall, she looks over to see Lucy talking to Mara, a girl Edmund found stranded on the shore about a month ago. She looked like she was a survivor of a shipwreck, but they're not sure if that's what happened since the only thing the girl could remember was her own name.

"I have this necklace that was given to me by…" Susan watches the girl hesitate, as though she was about to say something she shouldn't. "I mean I think it came from someone special, I don't know who."

"Are you sure you don't want a drop of my cordial? It could help you regain your memory."

"Yes, yes, I'm sure, you should save it for those in dire need of it. Now what else will I need for the ceremony, I mean 'celebration'," Mara says in should a way that made it sound like she really did mean ceremony.

The only question Susan had was what ceremony was she talking about. After all, Susan knows all the events going on in Cair Paravel and the only event coming up was Edmund's 16th birthday ball. And they haven't received any invitations to a ceremony happening elsewhere. Susan finds a place to hide and is seemly unnoticed by Lucy and her friend.

"Will next, you'll need something new, but the trailers making you a dress. So that's taken care of. Then I guess that leaves something borrowed, and something blue." Lucy tells Mara. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. That's a wedding tradition… Susan tells herself.

"Susan?" She jumps at her older brother's voice "What are you doing?" Peter asks.

"Shh…" Susan says dragging him into her hiding spot. "I think Lucy is telling Mara about wedding traditions. I'm not sure, but it sounds like Mara's going to be a bride."

"I didn't know Mara was getting married. Who's the groom?"

"Well, we can't have the celebration without Edmund," they hear Lucy laugh.

"Ture, it is his special day," Mara adds causing Peter's and Susan's eyes to grow wide.

"Edmund and Mara are… I didn't even know they were courting. But then again, they have been spending a lot of time together," Peter says while Susan grows red with anger.

"Of course, he wouldn't tell us he was courting someone. He always said that if he wore to marry, he would do it in secret, but I thought he'll wait until he was older, and get to know the girl he was marrying."

"Trust me, Su, we are not letting Ed…"

"Not letting me do what?" Edmund asks. The two older siblings stare in anger at their confused little brother.

"Come on," Peter says grabbing Edmund as he and Susan leave their hiding spot and stomp to Lucy and her friend. "Lucy! Mara!" the girls turn and when they see the looks on Peter and Susan's faces they become as confused as Edmund. "We need to talk." Everyone becomes silent as Peter turns to his brother. "Look Ed, I'm happy you found someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. Mara's a nice girl and maybe one day…"

"Pete, what are you talking about?" Edmund asks more confused than ever.

"Edmund James Pevensie, you're not even sixteen years old yet! You can't go off marrying a girl you've only known for a month!" Susan yells.

"Marriage? I'm not getting married, Mara's just a friend,"

"Oh really, then why we're Lucy and Mara talking about a wedding?"

"Um…Peter." Lucy says and the older three turn to her. "Mara and I weren't talking about a wedding, we were talking about Edmund's Birthday Ball,"

"Lucy, I heard you ask Mara about getting Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. Those are things you get for a bride on her wedding day." Susan says

"I thought you got those things for all sorts of celebrations, not just weddings," Lucy tells them. Susan and Peter's faces couldn't be redder.
