Chapter 35

"Oh, what happened to me?" Kagome's voice in her head. She looks around, seeing that she's somewhere she doesn't know. She looks down to herself to see nothing but her own mind of some sort. Just a speck of light. "What's going on? Where's my body?" Kagome shouts to no one in particular as she looks in the darkness to fine. Soon enough another speck of light gets her attention immediately. She runs towards it to see what it has. As she gets closer, she something through it. "Wait a minute." Kagome voice shouts in anger. "Those are my hands." She shouts but then remembers something. "Kikyo." She realized what just happened.

Midoriko is meditating in the waterfall in her forest. A snap of a twig gets her eyes open. She sees Kagome appearing through the thicket. "What brings you here, Kagome?" Midoriko asks the girl. "It appears you misunderstood my presence…master." Kikyo's voice spoke through Kagome's lips. Midoriko gasps. "No. Kikyo, what do you think you're doing to Kagome's body?" She calmly asks her former pupil. Kagome's eyes glow as her lips smirk upward. "Oh let's just I want us to have a little talk about something. But in order for me to do that, I have to be in the flesh and not spirit. And so I possessed this girl's body to do just that." Kikyo smugly said to her.

Midoriko keeps her expression still. "What is that you want to talk about?" She asks her cautiously. Kikyo takes a seat on a rock by the waterfall where Midoriko meditates regularly. "I came here to tell you this one thing. I simply want to prove to you that I was able to pull off something that you clearly told me of way back then." Midoriko watches her carefully, trying to figure out to stop whatever Kikyo plans on what to do with Kagome's body. "I had fallen in love with someone who understands my problem and di whatever he could to help me get through it." Kikyo simple states out.

"I've warned you not to do so, and now you're getting revenge for that." Midoriko said to her. Kikyo chuckles. "True, but to be honest, I never really believed it to be anything but a distraction, which you told me. I knew the consequences once I did. And now it's time for me to suffer the way I've been since I left." Kikyo said to her in sheer disgust. Midoriko can clearly sense how unstable Kagome's aura is. Being possessed is near impossible to counter with the proper spell. Not to mention if the possessor is willing to cooperate with the other end of the deal.

"Hmm let's see here. From what I can recall, since I possess this girl's body, you wouldn't be able to release the hold of the possessor, in this case, me. I'm pretty sure that Kagome's spirit would cease to exist." Kikyo spoke as she stands up from her spot. Midoriko knows that Kikyo wouldn't be able to learn that from her. So there had to be someone who must've been stronger than her to teach her that. "So master, do you have what it takes to release my hold on the girl?" Kikyo taunts her. "I knew it. You're not as strong as you were back then. Which means it'll be easy for me to take revenge on you no problem." Midoriko knew that Kikyo is right. She may look young, but she's way older than she appears.

Inuyasha comes out of the thicket and sees Kikyo about to attack Midoriko. "Stop it, Kikyo!" He shouts as he runs to tackle her to the ground. Midoriko gasps as she sees that the jewel pops out of Inuyasha's jacket pocket and is about to make contact with Kagome's body. "No. Time Pause." She shouts a barrier of some sort around Inuyasha and Kagome, making them stop in thin air. Midoriko runs over and grabs the jewel and snaps her fingers to release time spell placed on the two.

"Kikyo, release Kagome right now." Inuyasha demands the girl. "Oh, what's the matter, Inuyasha? You don't want to hurt this body. After all, if I receive physical damage from anything, the Kagome will feel it too." Kikyo spoke cockily. Inuyasha pins Kagome's wrists with his hands to prevent her from escaping. Kikyo tries her best to escape the grip. Inuyasha does a maneuver to pin Kagome's hands from behind her body, as Midoriko positions her hands in different forms, "Time Pause." She shouts and puts the girl in a barrier, freezing her in place.

Midoriko pants as she must've used too much of her powers in such a short amount of time. "What did you to her?" Inuyasha asks her as he comes to her. "I was able to stop her. Not to mention get the jewel that was about to touch her." Midoriko responds as she shows that the jewel is in her hand. Inuyasha didn't see that coming. "But how did you get it back?" He asks her curiously. Midoriko sighs, "I used the Time Pause spell. It's a powerful spell that momentarily freezes an area of time, thus giving me an opportunity to do something that no one would be able to see in a blink of an eye." She pants slowly. "But doing twice has really done a number on me though. The spell can last for ten seconds. That's the spell's limit. If I were to extend that amount of time, I'd be dead." Midoriko glazes at the barrier.

Inuyasha can see the barrier clearly now. "So now what? How can we get Kikyo out of Kagome's body?" He asks her nervously. Midoriko frowns in grim. "I don't know how. I've heard about it, though I thought it was just rumor, but from the looks of it, it's real. And I don't how to counter it. For what Kikyo told me that someone must've taught her that when she left. If only that person knew how to counter it."

Inuyasha now knows how difficult this problem has become. "Do you think the jewel would work?" He asks her as he gazes at her with his arms crossed. "The jewel is meant to seal away the corrupted spirit. And since Kikyo possesses Kagome's body. It could destroy the both of them." Midoriko explains the jewel's power. Inuyasha feels hopeless at this point. "Is there any way you could go through Kikyo's memories to see who it was that taught her that spell?" He asks as he tries his best to stay positive.

"There is, but I'm not able to do it due to the Time Pause spell. If I were to use the Memory Reader spell, which is just as powerful, I'd be dead." Midoriko sadly answers the question. "Then let me do it." Inuyasha said to her confidently. Midoriko looks at him like he's crazy. "No offense, Inuyasha, but those who have spiritual powers are capable of doing it." Midoriko doesn't want this guy to fall victim to the spell.

"Then I'll do it." A new voice said as it comes into the clearing. Inuyasha and Midoriko turn around to see Miroku and Sango approaching towards them. "For what you don't know is that I'm a monk and I have spiritual powers. Please tell me where this spell you speak of located." Miroku requests the woman. Midoriko nods and snaps her fingers since the Time Pause spell has reached the ten seconds.

"I'll stay here and make sure that Kikyo doesn't get away." Sango said as she pulls out some rope made of a special material. Inuyasha lets her do her task at hand and ties Kagome's mid-section as well as her hands up. "What kind of rope is that Sango?" Inuyasha asks her curiously. Sango smiles, "These is numbness robe. When it ties around the person, it makes them immobilized." She explains to the boy. "But why are you in your hanyou form instead of a human?" She asks as she noticed that Inuyasha didn't turned into a human when he entered the forest.

Inuyasha raised a sleeve of his jacket to show her the wristband his father gave him earlier. "This is meant to keep me in my true form instead of a human. It's working ok so far." He answers the question.
