JJF: I'm not surprised you took it like that, and I'm sure you in turn won't be surprised that I disagree with your take. Hatred is awful and poisons the soul regardless of its target, and sometimes the "small" sin of one has consequences for many—just think of Digory twisting Polly's wrist to ring the bell.
Prompt: Write a Narnian coffee shop AU.
Tumnus had a simple job, he liked to think. Coffee? He could do that. Sure, some customers were jerks, especially the dwarves, but wasn't that the way of all retail? And of course there were the usual workplace tensions, mostly between the employees who liked the new manager and the employees who didn't.
He himself didn't care much for Jadis either, but he figured it was better to shut up and stay on her good side. Nasty bint she was. Her first day in charge, she'd fired half the employees and hung up giant signs outside that said "NO HUMANS ALLOWED". This was of course blatantly illegal discrimination, but everyone who pointed that out ended up fired, so eventually they quit complaining aloud and only spoke in whispers when she wasn't around.
Jadis also liked to play favorites among the ones who liked her, and was always on the lookout for ways to persuade the others. She'd offered Tumnus a small bonus on every paycheck if he'd just keep an eye out and let her know if any humans tried to get in. He wasn't super enthusiastic about it, but he didn't want to get fired, and the signs already kept people away. Free money was free money.
And then one day a little girl walked through the door while he was the only one on shift.
Quoth the barista, "Oh, frick me."
