Her phone chiming with an incoming message wasn't uncommon nowadays. What was uncommon was who had sent the two-worded message that has Alex scrambling for the door as quickly as she was able in her surprised state.

Kate Kane: She knows

Alex's mad dash towards the bullpen was stalled by the woman herself already shaking her head as she pockets the same device that had caused Alex's current frazzled state. "Guess again, Nerdling Mc Badass." Any other time Alex would be rolling her eyes at the playful nickname.

"Where is she?"

Kate only gives a slowly exhaled breath as if sizing Alex up before she gives an answer. "She punched out five minutes ago and by the look of the severance…."

"Stop with the runaround, Kane where is my girlfriend?" Alex demands doing her level best to keep from shoving the slightly taller woman against the closest wall if she didn't give a straight answer soon.

"Okay, tone." Kate scoffed in only mild offence "but as I was trying to tell you before given the direction she was headed before we lost her on our cameras, I'd have to guess she's headed for the kickboxing gym a few blocks over. We'd go there sometimes when she and I were still together and one of us had a rough time that couldn't be handled another way. Bedroom related or otherwise."

"How'd she find out so damned fast?" Alex asks instead as her fist clenches and unclenches at her side. She'd hoped she could be the one to tell Maggie about her latest joint assignment case first given how new this new tether between them was.

"You know how hot Eve is for him, who'd you think blab about him picking you to partner with instead of her?" Kate points out her arms once again crossing tightly over her front.

Only because Kate is standing in front of it saves the wall from Alex's fist in her frustration.

Kate's hand clasps down on Alex's trembling shoulder with an understanding curl of her lips before she speaks. "Go talk to her, Alex. You know as well as I do what secondhand gossip can do to someone's mental state and Maggie…." She stops trying to find the right words.

"I don't want him I want her." Alex says

"Then go tell her that." Kate suggests the same moment Alex's phone vibrates against the back pocket of her jeans. "I'll handle the paperwork just go." She adds already turning away as Alex fished the still-humming phone out of her pocket.

The message consisted of a single short video that in any other context would have had Alex blushing pink and heading to the closest room with a locking door to take care of the rush of longing heat the scene alone coiled low in her belly.

As it was the only thing she feels is even more crushing guilt seeing Maggie so coiled with obvious tension as her fists struck out time and time again at the swinging heavy bag she was working with.

After watching the thing all the way through Alex noticed Linda added a scolding "What the hell have you done to my girlfriend-in-law?" warming Alex's heart at the protectiveness of her more adoptive sister over the woman she loved.

"Stand down, Snowie." Alex sighed via text before typing once more as she attempts to explain after jabbing harshly at the call button for the station elevator. "secondhand bull that I'm already on my way to straighten out."

"Please nothing about you two is straight, Lexie." Linda jokes sliding more into their sisterlike banter earning an eye roll from Alex as she reads this. "I felt that." Linda sends back. "Don't you roll your eyes at me, Danvers." She sasses with a playful wink "but seriously come talk to her. It's like someone-"

"Broke her heart?" Alex suggests as the elevator doors slide closed, and the thing starts carrying her down towards the underground lots.

Another message. Another short video.

Maggie had it seemed for the moment given up on beating submission from the punching bag and was gone to sit at one of the benches. Her head bowed; her long hair left loose so it fell in a dark wave to cover her already hidden face. Maggie's shoulders shook with what Alex knew as the phone and Linda drew closer to be not-so-quiet sobs as Maggie cried.

"Hey, Sawyer. Mind if I sit here?" Linda's voice cuts in before the thing cuts off.

The elevator pings as Alex pushes her phone back into her jacket pocket as the woman herself hurries from the car. Or tires to considering as soon as the doors open it's onto the glaring face of the one who'd cause this upset to Alex's already gloomy day.

"Where's the fire, Alexandra?" Eve snips. "or are you just here to…"

Alex doesn't miss a beat in slamming her fist hard into the glaring woman's face. "You want Daniels so badly you torpedo my shot at a love you can't even dream of having? You can have him. Leave Maggie alone, leave us alone or that will be the least of your problems." The upset lab tech threatens much to the amusement of the watching group of agents including a grinning Ethan Daniels himself as Eve looks up in wounded shock from her now sprawled place on the ground. Blood from the split to her lip dropped onto her chin as Alex stepped around her towards the door.

"And don't ever call me Alexandra," Alex adds as she makes the quick jog towards her motorcycle.
