Chapter 13: Naruto is alive!?
It has been three years for Fairy Tail since Naruto had disappeared along with the island when he battled the Black Dragon Acnologia. Things had changed for the guild and its members with Naruto being gone. They had sent search parties to find him to check where the island was, but there was nothing there. No traces of Magic power or anything indication someone or something was there. They searched for days hoping to find something, but not having any luck. The guild had lost some of its spirit which made them not as rowdy in the guild with Natsu and Gray fighting each other less. Elfman wasn't shouting about being a man as much and was more serious. Wendy had grown as well with becoming a beauty and growing nicely among her guildmates. For the last 3 years, she had been training seriously and more often wanting to be strong like her brother was and to make him proud. Lastly his girls had changed as well like everyone else. Not a lot had changed about them physically in appearance. Lisanna had been becoming stronger to honor her brother. She and Natsu had started dating and were happy. Mira was still the barmaid for the guild, but wasn't as happy and smiling less. Cana was drinking less even when she'd drink with her dad, it wasn't the same. She didn't smile as much or have as many drinking contests than before. She was taking more missions to help her get her mind off of Naruto. Erza had become even more stern to keep her family safe and to become stronger so she wouldn't lose another precious person. Lucy had gotten closer to everyone and was training more and was sterner now with everyone. Levy had perfected the technique to Tsunade's strength and could heal a lot like Wendy, but could do it more and longer with her larger reserves. She continued to study Fuinjutsu to honor her late lover as well. She had changed a bit physically with her chest growing a bit bigger and had grown a little taller too.
Currently there was chatter going on through the guild since Lamia Scale had showed up wanting to talk to Master Makarov about something important since there was a group of them that had shown up.
"What do you think they're talking about? With Jura and some of his guild members coming in with serious expressions on their faces makes me wonder" Mira asks her friend.
"I wish I knew, but I agree with you on that one. Something must be happening or something will be happening. There's no way to really sure unless they tell us." Cana replied curiously.
"There's only one way to find out which is to wait for them to come out." Erza said, walking into the guild with the rest of the team with her.
"How'd the mission go, you guys?" Mira asks with a smile.
"It went fine Mira. Nothing too crazy for us to handle. It was some bandits that were stealing from a town and threatening the villagers there." Erza said, explaining what the mission was.
Makarov's Office
"Are you sure about this? It's not a mistake or anything of the sort?" Makarov asked, wanting to make sure that he's not wrong about what he was just told.
"Yes. I am very sure about this. We were able to sense some magic power near where the island disappeared three years ago and we were going to check it out. We'd like a few of your mages to help check it out with us in case they recognize something.
"Hmm, that's peculiar. I'll send some mages out to help with the search, but I can't risk sending out the ones who were closest to Naruto. I'll send Bisca, Alzack, Max, Warren Jet, and Droy with you. They'll be able to help you find something if there is anything out there.
"We appreciate the help and I know what you mean. Naruto-Dono was an incredible young man and I wouldn't want to get their hopes up until we know for sure what we were sensing.
"Indeed he was. We just have to hope for the best in that something is out there. Right?" Makarov says with a small smile.
Outside the Office
Makarov and Jura walked out of the office to the railing just outside of his office to send some mages out with Jura to find out what the magic that was sensed was exactly. Hoping to be able to find something since it involves Tenrou Island where Naruto was last seen. Ever since his disappearance, many of the guild members that he was close with had changed and become different.
"Listen up! I'm going to need six wizards to go with Jura on a mission. They discovered some magic power and would like to have some help from us. The ones I will be sending are Alzack, Bisca, Jet, Droy, Max, and Warren. You have half an hour to get your things together because you'll be gone for a while." Makarov announces to everyone.
"Okay Master. We'll be on our way then. Let's go Bisca-chan. We'll meet you all there at Hargeon in half an hour. Alzack said to Makarov with everyone else nodding as they left too.
After the announcement Jura and his guild members left to Hargeon to meet up with them to head out to where they are needed to be at. Master Makarov walked over to the bar to get a drink when he was approached by Mira, Erza, Natsu, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, and Happy.
"What's going on Master? What are they needed for exactly? Not that I'm against you sending them, but I'm curious about the whole thing since it seemed rather serious." Erza asked wanting to know what was happening.
"They are just going to where they could sense the magical energy and since Warren is good at pinpointing the location specifically. It'll be good for him to go. The others are for backup with him. They also all work together well too." Makarov explains to them with them nodding. Natsu was okay with it since with Hargeon port, transportation was going to be apart of it so he was okay with not going.
"Okay Master." Erza said, accepting his response.
Line Break
Alzack and the others were in a boat with Max having a map out with Warren using his magic to try to sense any magic in the area where the island was, but weren't having any luck. Jura had explained to them what they had been able to sense some magic power near where the island was which made the members of Fairy Tail that were there hopeful that they could find something regarding their blonde-whiskered friend.
"Any luck yet Warren?" Max asks him.
"Nothing. I'm not sensing anything in the area. We've been at it for three hours and nothing has happened yet. I was hoping there would be something for us to find here." Warren said sadly.
"I know what you mean, nothing's been the same since Naruto disappeared. He's missed by everyone dearly, but no one more than his sister and his friends and girls. They were the closest to him." Bisca said with a sad smile.
"He was a liked guy and treated everyone like family no matter what they did or who they were. Let's get ready to head back." Alazack said to them missing his friend.
They were getting their stuff together to head back when they noticed the winds had stopped and they noticed there were no birds flying around them at all or in the area for that matter. They looked around and spotted someone who looked to be standing on the water. "S-She's standing over the water!" Bisca stuttered out to the others not believing what she's seeing since Naruto was the only one capable of doing that, and it clearly wasn't him from what she was seeing. It was the same young girl that had helped Naruto at the end when he was battling Acnologia.
She raised her hands and in the next moment lights were shining around her illuminating the entire area with the boat rocketing with the waves crashing against them until they saw something emerging from beneath the water. When everything had calmed down enough there stood Tenroujima Island that disappeared 3 years ago much to their shock.
The group saw the girl float into the island when they decided to follow her since she might know something about the whole thing that just happened in bringing the island back. "Follow her!" Max orders as they bring the boat in so they can follow her. They followed her for sometime until they began to lose her, so they had Jet use his speed magic to keep up with her so as to not lose her. When they manage to catch up to Jet they see him standing there staring at something and wonder what it is until they see what he is seeing which surprises them to be Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze alive and well despite seeing some injuries on him still.
Naruto POV
Naruto is in his mindscape talking to the Tailed Beasts like he has been doing for the last three years with that being the only thing he could do while he was submerged under the water in the sphere.
"Naruto, do you feel that? The island seems to be coming back up to the surface. You're about to wake up. I wonder why she decided to do this now."
"I can feel it as well buddy. I wonder why she is doing this now. Shall we find out, my friends?" Naruto asks them which they nod agreeing with him.
Groups POV
"It's Naruto! He's alive!" Alzack says tearing up seeing his friend alive.
"I can't believe it. He was here the whole time. It's a miracle that he was here the whole time and under the water.
Naruto starts groaning and fluttering his eyes open until he can see clearly and the first thing he sees is Alzack and Bisca jumping at him hugging him.
"Naruto!" They shout at him while hugging him with Naruto confused at the action not knowing that he had been gone for 3 years for them.
"Hey guys. It's good to see you again, but why the sudden hug? Why do you guys look older than last time I saw each of you?" Naruto asks, confused with their reactions in seeing him.
"Naruto... It's been three years since we last saw you." Bisca said through tears of joy in seeing him again.
"Did you just say three years?! How's that possible? It felt like minutes only for me since my battle with Acnologia." Naruto asks, not knowing what to make this news.
"How is everyone?! Are they okay? How are the girls and my sisters?" He asks quickly, worried about them.
"They're fine Naruto. Everyone is okay thanks to your efforts. They were able to make it off the island and back to the guild safely. However your "death" hit everyone pretty hard. They had changed and weren't smiling as much and everyone had become more serious about their jobs and becoming stronger so nothing like that like that would happen again. There wasn't as much goofing around and brawls happening. Gray and Natsu weren't arguing or fighting as much either." Bisca sadly said.
Naruto frowned upon hearing this that the guild had changed and wasn't what it was before. "I'm glad they're safe, but I feel bad making them feel horrible. I had no idea that this would happen with them that my disappearance would affect them so much. I have a lot of making up to do for them when we get back." He said with determination to make them smile again.
Everyone than hears someone behind them and when they turn around they see the same girl that had made the island appear.
"That would be my doing. I'm sorry to say Naruto-kun. When you and Acnologia were battling with those last blasts. I noticed you were beginning to lose the momentum against him. I used my magic power to give you that extra boost which also activated Fairy Sphere. I did this to help you and to make sure you'd be okay. I heard what you were saying during the blast struggle and you had embodied everything that Fairy Tail stands for and your bonds with them gave the power to activate it which made the island sink for the amount of time you were gone." The woman explains to the group.
"I thank you for your help in that, but who are you exactly?" Naruto asks her which makes her giggle at the question.
"My name is Mavis Vermillion. The First Master of Fairy Tail." She said happily with a big smile.
….

…
"Eh!" Everyone shouts out loud at her.
Line Break
Naruto had just gotten off the train arriving in Magnolia and he couldn't be more happy to be back. Not a lot had changed for the city. They had contacted Makarov about their situation and he couldn't have been more excited and happy to see one of his children again after about 3 years.
*Flashback*
Makarov was in his office doing his paperwork when he was receiving a call from his lacrima that he kept with him whenever someone from the guild needed to call him. When he answered, he could see it was Alzack who was the leader of the team of Fairy Tail who was grinning from ear to ear.
"Hey master. We're heading back now and we were able to find something involving the magic power that was being sensed. You'll be surprised with what we were able to discover regarding it." Alzack said as he handed it over to someone who Makarov thought he'd never see again.
"It's good to see you again jiji." The person was Naruto and Makarov nearly had a heart attack from seeing him again.
"Naruto!? How's this possible?! How are you alive? Everyone thought you died." Makarov said to him which made Naruto frown.
"I'm sorry jiji. I thought I was dead too. It's quite the story regarding the whole thing. To keep it short the island disappeared due to Mavis Vermillion the First Master of Fairy Tail activating Fairy Sphere to protect me and the island. And no it's not what you think, it was a spirit form of hers." Naruto explained to him.
"So the First Master was the one to save you huh? In any case, it is amazing to have you back. You were missed here my boy. It wasn't the same without you." Makarov said with a sad expression.
"So I was told Master. I'm sorry again I put you all through that. I'm happy to be back though. Don't tell anyone that I'm alive until we get back. Could you do that for me jiji?" Naruto asks with a small smile.
"Of course my boy. It will be great to see you again, Naruto. Where are you now?" He asked.
"We're in Hargeon Port and about to get on the train. See you later jiji." Naruto said as he ended the call on the lacrima.
End Flashback
Line Break
The group had finally made it back to Magnolia and everyone was excited for Naruto to be back. There was no one who was more happy and excited than Naruto who had been missing for 3 years. He couldn't wait to see everyone again, but no one more than his girls and sisters. He had heard about them and how they were doing, but it hurt to hear how everyone had changed and weren't smiling or being their rowdy selves like he was used to and would want them to be. They now are in front of Fairy Tail with huge smiles on their faces excited to reintroduce him to the guild.
"Well, are you ready Naruto? It's been 3 years since you were last here. I can't wait to see how everyone will react in seeing you back and alive for that matter." Alzack asks with a grin.
"I'm ready. It's been way too long since I was last here and I have a lot to make up for being gone for too long. I can only hope they'll forgive me for putting them through that." Naruto explains with a sad smile on his face.
"It'll be okay. They'll be happy to see you again." He reassures him.
Fairy Tail POV
Everyone was in the guild with Makarov who couldn't keep the grin that had appeared on his face and no one had been able to figure out why. No matter who asked or what they did, he wouldn't say anything.
"Is anyone else getting annoyed by what Master is hiding from us? He's been awfully excited about something the last few hours and I would like to know why that is." Erza said, annoyed about the whole thing while eating her strawberry cheesecake.
"I'm with you there Gramps normally doesn't do something like this and it's getting annoying how quiet he is being about it." Natsu said.
"It does make you really wonder what he is hiding from us though. It must be something great with how he is behaving right now." Mira said while she put a finger on her chin with a thoughtful look.
"We can't really do anything about it until whatever he has in mind either happens or he tells us, but with how secretive he's being. It must be something to show us." Lucy said while holding her spirit Plue.
"I wonder if it involves the job that the others had left for? I mean it makes sense with the timing. Whatever it was they found, must be good for the Master." Levy said, giving her own thoughts on it.
"Right. Well we can't do anything until they come back, so we will have to wait." Cana said while drinking from a mug, but is also curious about it too.
They continued to chat for a while longer until the doors opened to reveal the team that left with the Jura and the excused everyone and went to Makarov who had the same grin as their master did which made everyone even more curious about it.
"Mission was a success master. We were able to identify what the source was and it was safe and nothing bad of the sorts." Alzack said as he slipped Makarov, one of Naruto's Hiraishin kunai that no one sees him to do. "Go ahead master. Naruto wants you to throw it near Natsu. He knows and can see how Natsu and Gray aren't being their normal selves and start a brawl by throwing it near them and then Naruto will hit them both and start something." He whispers to him which makes Makarov grin mischievously which no one but Erza sees, but doesn't hear what they were saying.
All of a sudden he throws the kunai near Natsu and before he can do anything an orange flash appears through the guild and slams a punch into Natsu which knocks into Gray making them collide into multiple tables.
Everyone was going to react to the attack until they heard someone they haven't heard in 3 years say, "Well this is something. Natsu and Gray not fighting or arguing? Hell it's quiet here, where did all the brawling and noise go while I was gone? This isn't the Fairy Tail I know of." He said, which makes everyone go wide-eyed when they see the person come into view after hitting him. The person was Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze and he was alive.
No one said a word for a number of minutes until Makarov said, "It's good to see you again my boy. It's been a long time and I'm glad to have you back." He said, which started a chain reaction of the first ones were the girls who tackled him, making him fall on his back as they're crying not believing that he's back.
"Naruto-kun!? You're alive!? How?! We saw the island blow up along with you! Do you know how hard it was for us to move on!?" Mira sobbed into his chest along with the other girls.
"I'm sorry girls. I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt any of you. I did what I thought was best to protect you all and everyone on the island. I won't be leaving you anytime soon. I hope you can forgive me." He said to them trying to comfort them.
Naruto had managed to get them up by hugging each of them and kissed each of them which was returned with much passion. Naruto then looked around until he saw Natsu and Gray grinning at him with tears before they charged at him with Naruto doing the same thing. Naruto manages to catch Natsu's punch with one hand and Gray with his other hand before they get in a group hug.
"Where the hell have you been?! 3 years you were gone! You better have a good explanation for your disappearance you bastard." Natsu shouts at him.
Flame Brain is right. You owe us that much man." Gray said, adding his thoughts to it.
"I will tell you what happened exactly. Do I still have a house and a room? If so, I can explain everything to you guys tonight. I want to catch up with everyone. Speaking of which, where are my two little imouto's? I don't see them or Elfman?" Naruto asked not seeing either of them when he looked around for them.
"Wendy and Lisanna are running errands for the day and should be back later tonight. She'll be so excited to have you back. She missed you as well. Nothing was the same without you Naruto-kun. We all did. We're glad to have you back." Lucy said, wiping tears out of her eyes.
"With our family back together we should celebrate! Let's party!" Makarov shouts with everyone cheering and shouting in agreement.
And so they partied for the rest of the day. Happier than they had been in 3 years with a lot of fights happening, cheering, and lots of drinking. Lisanna and Wendy were heading back after a long day of errands and could hear the commotion going on at Fairy Tail wondering what was going on.
"Lisanna. Do you have any idea about what's going on? I haven't heard them being this excited and loud about something since... Since nii-san died. I wonder what it could be?" Wendy asks her.
"I'm not sure Wendy. Maybe there was some announcement that must've been good enough to get them this excited. We better hurry so we can find out what's going on." Lisanna said to her.
"Sounds good." Wendy said and they increased their pace to make it back to the guild faster.
They make it back in front of it and when they walk in they see everyone having a good time. Natsu and Gray are fighting, which they haven't seen them do in nearly a year. Cana was drinking like she used to from the barrel. Mira, Lucy, and Erza were at the bar talking happily about something. It was when they saw someone turn towards them with a giant grin who they thought was dead.
Line Break (Naruto POV)
Naruto had just seen Lisanna and Wendy walk in and they could see they had changed a bit. Especially Wendy, she seemed more like a woman and not as small which he missed already. She still had her twin ponytails though. Lisanna just looked a little older. She looked the same for the most part. Naruto walks up to them before he hugs them both.
"It's good to see you two again. You've grown since I last saw you." Naruto whispered to them.
It didn't take long for them to realize what was happening and started crying and hugging him back. "Nii-san!" Wendy cried into him holding him like her lifeline with Lisanna crying as well.
"Naruto-nii-san. How are you alive?" lisanna asked while sobbing into his shoulder.
"It's a long story. I'll be explaining everything tonight back at the house to everyone. What's important is I'm back now and I won't be going anywhere anytime soon." Smiled at them with everyone stopping what they're doing and watching the scene with smiles on their faces. They knew how much they both missed him very much especially Wendy since they were really family.
"We missed you nii-san. It wasn't the same without you." Wendy said, still hugging him.
"I know Imouto, but you don't have to worry anymore about me being gone because I'm here now and will be for a long time. I promise you both that." Naruto said before letting them go and kissing their foreheads with them at the action which makes them feel embarrassed. "Come on. Let's get back to the party and enjoy ourselves." Naruto continues.
Line Break
The party was great for everyone as they needed something to get them back to their normal selves. It went on for hours well into the night, but there were many of them who wanted to hear the story and so the ones who were now at Naruto's house, were Mira, Cana, Erza, Lucy, Levy, Wendy, Carla, Lisanna, Elfman, Natsu, Happy, Gray, and Makarov in the living room.
"Well where do you want me to start?" Naruto asks no one out loud.
"What was that form where you were glowing yellow with a giant fox with nine tails? It was incredible to see even from how far we were." Natsu said with excitement at seeing that.
"That would be me and Kurama syncing together. In regards to when a Jinchuriki uses their Tailed Beasts chakra, there are multiple forms that can be accessed, but for me it's a little different. The first form is when a red bubbly substance is formed around me in the form of a fox ranging from 1-3 tails, 4-9 tails being used are when the next form kicks in where I develop a second layer of skin over mine, where my features are like a miniature Nine-Tailed Fox with my eyes becoming blank white. Next form is the one I received when I first defeated Kurama and took some of his chakra for my own, where my body starts glowing yellow with black markings that appear over my stomach. Lastly is when we fully sync together where I gain a haori and the markings go throughout my body and not just my stomach. I can use that form to summon a partial fox like its head or the full body of Kurama." Naruto finishes smirking at seeing how many forms he can use in fights.
"So the form you were using was the last one where you two were synced right? That's incredible Naruto-nii-san." Lisanna said.
"Thanks. Anyway, we were charging our final attacks putting everything into them before they were blasted at each other. It was a stalemate for some time until I had started to lose ground. My chakra was vanishing quickly despite having the Tailed Beasts in me, it was taking a lot out of them to keep my injuries to a minimum while I was fighting at the same time. When I was about to lose, all of a sudden I felt an additional source of power surging through me giving me the chance I needed to push back and when I did they exploded. The explosion pushed Acnologia from the island with the island sinking after that. The person who gave me that power to win, was the First Master Mavis Vermillion and because of the power being released from me she caused one of three spells called Fairy Sphere which helped protect me, but made me disappear as well like the island making it look like it was destroyed. It lasted for 3 years according to what I was told by Alzack and the rest is history." Naruto finishes.
"That's incredible my boy. You were able to do what no one had been able to do. Driving off the Black Dragon like that is amazing to do." Makarov said with a proud smile.
Before Naruto could say anything, he felt KI directed at him and when he turned to the source he paled when he saw it was from Mira, Erza, Cana, Levy, and Lucy with dark auras surrounding them with smiles that would be terrifying to see.
"Oh Naruto-kun. You will not do anything like that again. Do you understand me?" Mira asks, still smiling with her aura getting worse.
"You won't do anything of the sort like that again. If you do, there will be nowhere for you to hide from us nor will no one be able to save you." Erza added onto Mira's words with the others nodding with the same smiles making him sweat and paling while everyone else is feeling sorry for him knowing how dangerous women can be.
Naruto shrinks back into his seat. "I'm in danger." He nervously said sweating bullets on his face seeing how angry they were at him which made everyone else laugh at his expense knowing how dangerous they could be.
"It's been a long day and I'm going to head home now. It's good to see you alive again my boy. Goodnight everyone." Makarov said as he was leaving.
"Goodnight master." They all said.
"He's got the right idea. I'm gonna head to bed myself. I'll see you all in the morning. Let's go Happy." Natsu said.
"Aye." Happy agreed.
"I agree with Flame Breath. I'm gonna go as well. It's good to have you back man. Don't do anything like that again." Gray said before leaving.
The rest follow suit and leave for the night which leaves Naruto, Wendy, Mira, Cana, Erza, LEvy, and Lucy in the house now.
"I'm going to head to bed myself now. Goodnight everyone and nii-san, it's great to have you back, but please don't do anything like that again. It was hard not having you here with us." Wendy said shyly.
"Of course imouto. I don't plan on going anywhere for a long time. I promise." He said pulling her into a hug which she reciprocates immediately before running off to her room with a smile knowing her brother is back now.
"Come on girls. We should get ready ourselves. It's been a long day for all of us and sleep sounds amazing right now." He said before pulling the girls into hugs. "I'm glad to be back with all of you. I won't be going anywhere or leaving you again. I don't know what I would do if I lost any of you like that. I love each of you so much." He said lovingly.
They look at him with smiles and love before kissing him. "You know we're going to be sleeping together tonight right?" Levy asks not wanting to sleep without her boyfriend with the others nodding in agreement.
"That I would like nothing more. Let's head to bed ourselves before it gets any later." He said as they got ready for bed before going to Naruto's room for the night to sleep with him.
"Goodnight girls." He smiled at them.
"Night Naruto-kun." They answered with smiles as well.
