Chapter One
It was a sunny Tuesday morning when Alanza finished packing her things. She carefully placed everything away in her bag that was charmed to be featherlight. After she finished, she glanced around Grimmauld Place, where she was currently staying, one more time before appararating away with a loud crack. She opened the door to the house she had just recently bought and smiled. It was nice to finally have some time to herself. She dropped her stuff on the floor before deciding to go to Mystic Grill.
She had researched the town before moving and discovered this was the only restaurant in town. She apparated there before opening the door and walking in. As soon as she did, the feeling of death hit her. As Mistress of Death, she could sense death, and these people reeked of it. There were 3 people, a brown haired, brown eyed girl, a green eyed, light brown haired guy, and a blue eyed, black haired guy. They were crowded into a booth together, talking quietly.
Alanza caught a few words of the conversation, and they seemed to be talking about a ritual, a guy named Klaus, and a girl named Katherine. That's when Alanza knew what they were. Vampires. Except the girl. But she had spent enough time around the two that her scent was saturated in death. They glanced over when Alanza passed, but she wasn't worried. She knew she could handle these two mosquitos and the wannabe vamp. After a few moments, the three began talking again, and Alanza couldn't help but listen in. "We don't even know if this Klaus guy is real, Elena. Rose might just be lying so we don't kill her." Said blue eyes.
"I think he's real." 'Elena' said, according to blue eyes. "And I think Rose is telling the truth. But maybe if you stopped sleeping with her for two seconds we could find out more." Elena said jealously. Blue eyes looked sad for a minute about what she said, before pasting on a smirk, responding "Someone sounds jealous, Elena. You should be scared, Steffie, cause I might steal your girl." Oooh, Alanza thought. Drama. So 'Steffie' and Elena were dating, and Elena liked blue eyes. Alanza laughed quietly before continuing to eavesdrop.
Elena's phone rang, and she picked up. "Okay," she said to whomever was on the other end, "we're on our way." To the two boys, she said, "That was Bonnie, Rose is getting worse. The bite is looking bad, she says. We need to get back." 'Steffie' nodded, grabbing her hand and pulling her up out of the booth with him, and blue eyes followed. They walked out the door before driving away to somewhere unknown to Alanza. It had been twenty minutes and no one had come to take Alanza's order yet, so Alanza got up and walked out. She only lived a few minutes away from the grill, so she decided to walk home and think.
What did Elena mean by bite? As far as Alanza knew, only one thing could kill a vampire of their type- a stake. The only thing she knew for sure was, this town was infested with vampires. Which could really only mean one thing. Alanza's adventure wasn't over. Not by a long shot. And the sad part was, she was excited. She had missed the adrenaline running through her veins as she raced to solve a mystery. But that was before. Before everything changed. But she couldn't let herself dwell on the past. She had a new mystery to solve, about just what went bump in the night in Mystic Falls. But this time, she was ready. Just what was this town hiding?
