Chapter Twenty-Eight
~Yuto's POV~
Claude dropped them back off at the front of the hospital that evening. Yuto yawned as he got out of the car. He'd been in way too many hospitals for one day. Granted it was the same hospital but he really didn't want to come back to this same one in the same day. If he'd known Midoriya was going to wake up earlier he wouldn't have left.
"You think Momo was convinced to make another device?" Yuto asked as James as he joined Yuto on the sidewalk. James didn't answer him right away as he led Yuto up the entrance to the hospital's front doors.
"I'm not sure." James stated finally. "She didn't seem to want to have to go back into the fight but if Kirishima or someone else made their point about running into this blind, she'd want to oversee their stupidity and make sure they didn't hurt themselves. It's what a good hero and class VP would do."
"They do seem to take their student council positions seriously don't they?" Yuto murmured as he picked at his nails boredly. "If we were in the states I don't think they would really care."
"We wouldn't know." James reminded him. Yuto hummed in agreement. He stayed back as James once again went up to the receptionist and got their guest badges. James handed Yuto his guest sticker as he headed for the elevators. Yuto didn't bother to put the badge on his shirt this time as he didn't want to have to just waste it by tearing it off once he got back in the car. Yuto watched the elevator climb to the second floor.
He wasn't really looking forward to this class meeting. Especially since they were literally going to have this meeting in Midoriya's room. The guy had just woken up after being passed out for almost 24 hours. It could have at least waited until tomorrow. It's not like anything was going to happen with any more time passing. But then, Yuto supposed, the rest of the class didn't know that. He had been a wreck as well when he'd lost Kana to Kurogiri's portal. The panic attack he'd had was unexpected. If Shina hadn't managed to calm him down when he'd gotten back home he would have been all for Kirishima's plan of hunting down the League.
Yuto glanced at James to see his brother lost in his own thoughts. His ears were half flat against his head while his tail twitched every so often. He didn't seem affected by Kana's absence too much. Of course he and Kana had a strange bond. They fought but Yuto knew if anyone messed with Kana, James would be right there to hit them. Kana would yell at James for taking away her right to punish and they'd be back at their fighting once again. Yuto on the other hand, he had a different relationship with Kana. She was his caretaker/older sister figure. He looked up to her and relied on her strength to be there for not just him but for James and Shina as well. Not having her around felt like Yuto was walking around with only one arm.
"Hey," James voice snapped Yuto out of his daze. "You coming or what?" James was holding the elevator doors open for him.
"Sorry, yeah I'm coming." Yuto faked a smile and walked off the elevator. James didn't say anything as he walked beside Yuto to Midoriya's room. When they were just outside Midoriya's door, James growled under his breath. Yuto was about to ask him what the deal was when the loud shouting started. Yuto didn't need to have James hearing to hear Kirishima's voice.
"I couldn't do anything!"
"I told that idiot to keep his guilty conscience out of this." James growled.
"You can't fault him for bringing his emotions into this." Yuto stated. "It's what makes people human."
"It's what makes people stupid." James snapped as he opened the door. Yuto sighed but followed behind James. He closed the door behind him firmly, not wanting to have any of the staff or patients be disturbed by their upcoming arguments.
"If I don't act now forget being a hero, I won't even be considered a man!" Kirishima stated vehemently.
"Calm down Kirishima." Denki ordered. "We get that you're a hothead but in this case, we're in a hospital man." Yuto nodded at his classmates as he leaned against the wall to watch the proceedings. Guess Kirishima and Shoto had already told everyone about what James had overheard from Momo and All Might.
"James and Iida are right." Tsu croaked.
"I know they're right." Kirishima stated, glancing at James who glared back at him. "You all are, but Midoriya-" Kirishima turned to the still bed bound Midoriya. "Bakugou's not beyond our reach. We can save him and Kana."
"You do realize we may die trying right?" James asked stepping into the argument.
"It does sound a bit out there." Mina said, stepping between James and Kirishima. Yuto was thankful she was willingly putting herself in the cross hairs of that argument. "You'd need to get the signal-tracker thing from Yao Momo and then… what exactly? Find the villains and demand our friends back?"
"The villains had said Bakugou was their target, but they took Kana. The magician had said others would have also been useful to join them, but there's no guarantee that they won't kill Bakugou or Kana if they don't give the villains the answer they want." Shoto stated. "There's no telling how long they may have before the villains get bored and kill them. Kirishima and I can go, no one else has to."
"You idiots." Iida blurted out. "Have got to be joking!"
"Hang on, calm down." Shoji interrupted. "I get it. Kirishima's lack of action because he was ordered not to. Shoto's guilt at not being able to save them when they were both within our grasp. I regret not being enough to stop that one villain." Yuto's mind flashed to the black and white Deadpool-esque villain. "But we can't let our emotions get the best of us." Yuto had kept his head down as Shoji had talked about it and the same feelings he'd felt at losing Kana echoed in his head.
"As much as I want to run after the villains and get Kana back." Yuto stated softly. He looked up and met Kirishima's eyes. "We have to let the Pros take care of this one. As good as we are, we didn't even make a dent in their ranks when we had the chance."
"It's as Yuto says, though, I'm hardly one to talk after needing saving myself." Tokoyami said. Yuto gave Tokoyami a head nod that he returned.
"We're all still in shock about Bakugou and Kana being kidnapped." Tsu said. "We have to keep calm about this. It doesn't matter how righteous our feelings are. If we start another fight, if we break the law, then we're no better than the villains." The silence seemed to be answer enough to everyone's final thoughts. A knock at the door startled him as the doctor poked his head in.
"Excuse me, sorry to interrupt. But it's time for Midoriya's examination."
"We'll get out of your hair." Yuto said shoving off from the wall.
"L-let's go guys." Sero helped round everyone up as they all vacated the room. Yuto sighed and ran a hand through his messy mop of hair as he thought about the situation they were all in. The stress from all the anxiety wasn't good. He was going to need to try and relax later with some training. Hopefully he could persuade Shina to run him through some drills.
"Overexerting yourself is bad form." Tokoyami murmured as he stepped up beside him. Yuto breathed out a breath.
"I know, but, if I keep thinking about Kana I'm going to lose my mind."
"Focusing on other things could be good." Yuto nodded.
"I've been trying. There's only so much I can do before James gets tired of me hanging around him all the time. I can't exactly get him to spar at a time like this. He won't show it, but he's angry that Kana got taken. I'm just not sure if that's anger at himself or at her, not that it's her fault."
"Hmm, he is like Bakugou when it comes to the anger. Though he hides it better." Tokoyami's ability to not judge people was amazing. Yuto wondered if this came easily or if he weighed his words in his head before speaking them aloud.
"He's still a furry though." Yuto said as the elevator arrived. He walked into the elevator and turned expecting James to be right behind him glaring at him but he wasn't there. Yuto frowned. James wouldn't just leave without him.
Yuto said goodbye to Tokoyami in the lobby and waited for James to come out. He wasn't sure what was taking him but he didn't see Claude arrive so he assumed that everything was fine. He was probably talking with Midoriya about how he failed to bring Bakugou back. Yuto sat down in the chairs and simply got lost in his thoughts about the current situation.
He wasn't sure if Shina had managed to leave and tell Shigaraki about Momo's tracker on the Nomu. He didn't think she would rat her out though. If anything, Yuto presumed that Shina would praise Momo for her quick thinking. True they were hired to aide Shigaraki in his plans, but he knew Shina didn't like working for the villains. None of them did and this whole stint as undercover 'heroes' hadn't exactly warmed them to the villains. Yuto was sure Shina thought the villains were just taking the easy way out. Course he couldn't exactly judge since they hadn't meant to be thieves either.
Yuto hummed as he thought about their origins. He pulled himself away from those thoughts and back to the present situation. While he was thinking, a hero came into the lobby. He seemed to be looking for a patient as the receptionist barely gave the hero his pass before he was running off. Someone close to the hero must be here. Being a hero was a hard job. It didn't matter if the person was doing it for money, fame or something else. Work was work. He hoped he was half as good a hero as the #1 in every country he'd been to. They were #1 for a reason. Yuto would never admit it, but he was enjoying going to school with these future heroes. They weren't the best yet, but they were 1st years or maybe soon to be 2nd years? He would have to ask Shina about that later.
The point was, he liked going through the training to be a hero. It made him feel like he could have this life. And boy did he want this, with everything in his being. Sure, stealing was fun and the adrenaline of being chased was always something he looked forward to, but this job had made him realize, he wanted to be more than just a thief. His mother and father had been heroes to their tribe before they'd died, it made him happy that he was following in their footsteps, even if it was a con. Yuto slumped further into the chair.
'I wonder how things would be if mom and dad hadn't died in the car accident.' Yuto thought. 'Would I be in my own hero training back in the States?' He held up his hand and formed a shadow needle. 'Would dad have been the one to teach me about my Quirk or would mom have done it?' He dispelled the needle as he shook he head. It wouldn't do to have those kinds of thoughts. It didn't matter anyway. He had a good life, at least according to his classmates.
The elevator ding caught his attention. James walked out of it making Yuto sit up and wave at James. James headed straight for him. Yuto frowned catching James expression before his own intuition seemed to click into place. Whatever plan Kirishima had proposed, it looked like James was on board with.
"I'm going with those idiots." James stated before Yuto could open his mouth to ask. Yuto simply assessed his brothers face before he nodded once.
"Okay. I suppose you don't want me to be included in these 'illegal plans'?" James nodded. Yuto sighed. "I suppose I should want to fight with you about this, but I'm guessing you're going to haul me to the car if I don't agree anyway."
"Or have you admitted for a broken nose." Yuto nodded once.
"I'll text Claude." Yuto said pulling out his phone. "I'm going to tell Shina though."
"Figures you would, snitch." Yuto smiled not so sweetly at him.
"Bite me furry." James hissed.
"Only Kai gets to call me that." Yuto rolled his eyes. His eyes stopped on the TV across the room. It was on the daily news detailing some kind of news flash before the UA conference came on. Yuto's body froze when he caught sight of the headlines. "Yuto?" Yuto's mouth fell open in shock. "Hey, what's going on?" Yuto didn't say anything, he simply pointed to the TV. James turned and froze.
'Breaking News: International Thief Sunfire Caught by Pro Hero Hawks!'
"What did she do?" James yowled. Yuto didn't think as he pulled James into his shadows and away from the citizens who were turning to look at James for his outburst.
~Kana's POV~
Kana wasn't sure what she expected being a hostage would be like, but this wasn't it. She couldn't move or talk. All she was doing was watching the villains as they watched the two UA students either outright or from the corner of their eyes. It was boring. She was guessing she'd been tied to the chair in the League's bar for about 24 hours now, give or take an hour or two. Bakugou had woken up a few hours after she had, and he'd immediately started yelling. Bakugou had gone silent after a couple minutes of yelling and had yet to say anything else. Kana could feel the waves of emotions coming off him and she didn't like it. It reminded her of the times she and Kira had taken on assignments and one of them ended up kidnapped. She missed her friend; it was too bad they were practically exiled from Russia.
"Now that you're calm, how about we get down to business wannabe heroes won't you join me?" Shigaraki spoke.
"You can shove your offer and go to hell." Bakugou snapped immediately.
"Bakagou," Kana murmured. "Can you shut it? If you don't mind me asking, why should we join you?"
"Are you really going to entertain them?" Bakugou yelled at her. Kana gave him a look.
"Well they've obviously gone to great lengths to kidnap us. I mean I know you were #1 priority from what Mandalay thought announced…. Telepathically informed, yelled?" Kana thought about the correct term before she shook her head. "Anyway, I know you were the priority it seemed like but why take me as well? I remember from the USJ incident you have a teleporter." Kana indicated Kurogiri from behind the bar.
"We are open to all forms of Quirks joining our cause." Shigaraki answered in what Kana was supposing a neutral tone. She didn't believe a word he said but he didn't need to know that.
"Right." Kana mused before she asked. "So what health benefits do you have?"
"Is she serious?" The lizard asked.
"You're an idiot." Bakugou grumbled. Kana sighed before stating in a bored voice,
"If you aren't offering any benefits to joining your villainy why would I join you? I mean at least with the heroes I get to know about the great benefits of job security."
"Will you shut up?" Bakugou growled. "Don't entertain these fools."
"It's not like I can go anywhere until they either decide to release us or kill us." Kana snapped back. "I may as well ask questions!"
"Just sit there and shut up." Bakugou ordered. Kana gave him a deadpan look before she turned to look at the villains. "If I beg, will you please give me headphones? I'll listen to a nature documentary at this point."
"QUIET TALKING TO THEM IDIOT!" More yelling from Bakugou that Kana studiously ignored.
"Tch, thought you said she could handle him?" Emo asked Shigaraki.
"Guess she's useless." Shigaraki stated plainly as he gulped the last of his drink. "She's not important anyway. We can get rid of her if he continues. Heroes seem to like saving the damsels in distress." Kana's mouth dropped for a second before her self-preservation seemed to get out of the way of her pride and anger.
"Okay 1, Rude! 2, Who the heck are you calling 'damsel in distress'? and 3, You don't see me making fun of your pasty, dry, chapped skin so don't you dare call me useless you twiggy beanpole!" The bar was silent after Kana's outburst as she glared at Shigaraki. Even Bakugou had gone silent at that outburst, but only for a moment.
"Heh, shoulda pissed you off sooner." Kana glared at his smirk.
"Shut it Pomeranian."
"She's feisty." Magician villain spoke up finally. Kana had a sudden clarity come to her about why this was a bad idea to challenge Shigaraki and even worse, talk to him like this. She hadn't said more than a few words to him when she'd initially met him and now she'd called a 'beanpole'
"Hn, that remains to be seen." Shigaraki turned so Kana could stare right into his red eyes. She gulped. "Compress, take her to the backroom."
"Twice, you can do it." Compress called.
"Sure thing! That's not fair!" He answered as he came closer. Bakugou growled threateningly. "Uh, I'm having second thoughts. He's tied down tight right?" Kana mentally wondered at this groups obedience to Shigaraki's orders. They didn't seem very connected like the Nara clan was. If Shina gave an order, they followed it. They may have questions about it later but they would still carry those orders out. The few times they'd not followed the plan were evidence that it worked in their favor if they followed the plans as much as possible.
"As much as we can allow for now." Shigaraki stated. Twice nodded and came closer to Kana. He knelt down by her chair.
"Alright let's get you out of here feisty pants. We're gonna have a long talk in the back." Twice reached for her ropes. Kana struggled but didn't say anything as he hoisted her over his shoulder and stood up. Kana squeezed her eyes shut once she was over Twice's shoulder. She hated heights and being treated like a sack of potatoes wasn't doing her any favors.
"Please don't drop me." She murmured softly. Twice hesitated only for a split second before Twice started walking more confidently to the back room. Twice put Kana on a hard surface that had Kana opening her eyes slightly to see it was the bar. Kana started to stuggle even more but the emo rolled his eyes and grabbed Kana's leg and lifted it making Kana yelp as she was forced backward.
"You rude motherf-" Her cursing was cut off as Twice grabbed her around the middle again.
"Toga, why don't you go with them?" Shigaraki ordered. Kana silently bemoaned her mouthing off to Shigaraki. 'Great, stabby's coming.'
"Ooh goody, I can't wait to taste your blood." Toga, the familiar blond giggled sweetly. Kana groaned as she was lifted into the air again. She heard the bar's back door open. She could already feel the colder air of the backrooms. She hadn't been in here before. Despite the contract with the League, Kana couldn't help the sharp lance of fear and doubt hit her as she realized, she was alone. Shina wasn't here and neither were her boys. Whatever happened, it would be up to her to get out of it. Would Toga really hurt her? If so, she wanted the chance to fight back. Kana's hands twisted more fervently but the ropes held tight. They were only causing the bruising to her already sore wrists to worsen as she tugged against them. She was stuck.
"Oi, Kana!" Kana's eyes opened involuntarily as her head raised to meet Bakugou's angry and crazed eyes. "Don't you dare give in. I know your mind is a little twisted but you better fucking stay stubborn you idiot." Kana blinked at Bakugou before she dropped her head back to Twice's back as the door closed and darkness descended on the three of them. The sentiment was nice to hear from Bakugou, but if anything it just made her feel guiltier.
"We're gonna need you to scream." Twice said to her. "Have to entice the blond brat to talk to us."
"And how would that work?" Kana asked as she wiggled on Twice's shoulder even more. "He may be my classmate but that's about it."
"He seemed to care about you from what his statement of 'stay strong' was about." Toga enthused. "I could also stab you." Kana opened her mouth to protest but a scream ripped itself from her throat instead as Toga literally stabbed her in the thigh. Kana's scream was shrill and filled with her fear.
"You deranged vampire bimbo!" Kana shouted.
"Geez, I wasn't expecting that loud of a scream." Toga mumbled as she stepped back.
"You didn't specify how loud you wanted me to scream." Kana grumbled as she tried to assess how deeply she'd just been stabbed. "Can I get out of the ropes now?"
"Not yet." Toga answered as she turned on a lightbulb that illuminated a barren portion of the warehouse. A lone table and chair were set up here with another television that had a gaming console attached to it. "Shigaraki wants to keep you here until your friend agrees. Don't worry though, I didn't stab you that hard." Kana snorted as Twice placed her fairly gently on the chair.
"I already told him how that's going to go." Kana met Toga and Twice's eyes. "Bakugou is too stubborn. And I thought Shigaraki wanted him to join of his own volition, not being coerced into this?"
"Plans change." Twice answered. "This was more of a back up plan just in case. You looked like you were scared stiff after mouthing off brat."
"He insulted me and I was bored." Kana snapped before she screamed once more making Toga smile wider while Twice looked at the door panicking. Kana stopped screaming as she delivered into her own mind to think. She wondered what Shigaraki's plan for Bakugou was. Sure it made sense since he was a pretty powerful piece if he turned to the villain side, but he had strong morals. Despite his warrior-like attitude, Kana could see he really did aspire to be the best hero just like All Might. It would make no sense for him to turn bad. Perhaps Shigaraki didn't get it because he wasn't around him or didn't know the full information on him. Honestly if anyone was going to turn villain, it would probably be Midoriya if pushed far enough.
"Kana?" Kana blinked coming back to herself to see Toga sitting directly in front of her. Twice had moved to the doorway, no doubt listening to what was being said in the other room with Bakugou. "You smell so good."
"Thanks?" Kana didn't think she would have smelled too good after running through mustard gas, a burning forest and being drenched in sweat. But Toga was weird. Toga leaned forward making Kana lean backwards into the chair wishing it would move back more. "Uh, personal space Toga." Toga took a deep inhale as her eyes shuttered.
"You smell so good though Kana. Your blood, I can smell it." Oh so a freaking vampire or blood hound. Awesome. Kana cleared her throat and prepared to say something to get Toga's freakiness away from her. The next words out of her mouth delayed that. "You like someone don't you Kana?" Toga giggled. "I feel so happy knowing this Kana. I ran into another girl in the forest who had a crush as well and she smelled so good! You smell almost as good, there's just," Toga took another deep breath. "Something different about your scent." Kana gulped as Toga's eyes seemed to snap to hers. A large creepy grin spread across her face. "Like something is blocking it's full potential." Kana felt ice slide through her as she instantly worked to shut down whatever she was thinking and feeling.
"Toga, back off. I won't say it again." Kana ordered. Toga tilted her head curiously.
"But why? I just want to help you. Help you realize what your feeling." Toga giggled. "Whatever I can do to help this delicious smell get stronger. It'll put Uraraka's scent to shame." She giggled again.
"Toga, leave her alone." Twice called. "Don't scare her." Toga and Kana ignored him.
"You're not scared of me. All I can smell, is your crush." Kana glared at Toga.
"I don't have a crush. I'm built different than your average girly girl Toga." Kana leaned forward as she felt her anger, embarrassment, doubt, fear and anxiety combined. She wanted to scare Toga into getting away from her, to leave her alone. A pressure started to build behind her eyes as she glared at Toga's sadistically joyful face. She wanted the vampire to leave her alone and quit talking her nonsense.
Kana wasn't aware of the pressure seemingly disappearing as the air started to pick up. She wasn't aware of it until she saw the change in Toga's eyes and heard Twice's yelp.
"Kana!" Twice came running. He yanked Toga back and away from Kana which had her frowning in confusion. "Close your portal." Toga had finally lost the sadistic look and was now staring above Kana's head.
"What?" Kana's hands were tied. Literally, she couldn't open portals without moving her hands. Kana looked above her head and blinked as her brain failed to comprehend what she was seeing. A small black vortex had opened above her. One that had been growing as the air had been sucked up into it. Once Kana realized this was indeed a vortex however, it started to fade until it disappeared.
"What's the matter with you? Opening a portal in here? You could have sent Toga flying." Twice admonished. Kana couldn't help but think that she would have deserved it.
"Sorry about that." Kana finally said lamely with a shrug. "She was in my personal space." Toga didn't come near her again and stayed across the room. She was staring at Kana the entire time though, but Kana ignored her as she was too lost in her thoughts about her Quirks evolution from portals to black holes or vortexes. She hadn't been able to practice with this ability since the first time she'd made it in the Forest of Beasts, and now here she was making black holes without moving her hands. She had tried to recreate it during her training but wasn't able to redo it. But after considering her recent actions, maybe her black holes were a result of her emotions and not her intent? But that made no sense.
What even was a black holes purpose? So far everything she'd sucked up hadn't been returned. It was only air and rocks that had gone through. Nothing had come back, at least, not anywhere she'd been paying attention to. So what was the point of the black holes? It was something she would need to discuss with Shina later when she was out of this situation.
As if on cue, Kana was yanked out of her thoughts when a loud explosion went off in the bar area. Kana figured it was Bakugou making a mess, until she realized that both Toga and Twice were gone. Kana wiggled again but she couldn't be freed.
"HEY!" She shouted. "BAKUGOU!" The door burst open making Kana flinch backwards.
"Kana?"
"Who are you?" Kana asked.
~Shina's POV~
The interrogation rooms in Japan weren't that different than the American ones. They were clean, bare rooms that held only a steel table and a wall with one way mirrors laid into it. Shina had always been able to see past the mirrors, mainly due to the reflections their bodies cast from the outside or inside the room directly. She could tell there were four people on the other side of the mirror watching her as she sat in silence. There was a glass of water in front of her but she didn't touch it. If they wanted her prints or her DNA then they'd have to try another trick.
Shina sighed as she extended her legs out and leaned back in the chair. She turned her face to the single lightbulb above her. It's light wasn't enough to really do much for her but it was still something that she could use to her advantage if she needed it. It had to be dark outside now, she mused. She'd been in this room for a few hours now. When she'd fought with Hawks it had been about 5 in the evening, maybe less. He'd stayed with her until the ambulance had come and seen to her. She did have deeply bruised ribs but it was already healing. When they time came, she would have no trouble with getting out of the police's hands.
The door opened and in walked a police officer with a thick file.
"Hello, so sorry to keep you waiting. I know waiting with an injury isn't the best." He apologized. Shina didn't say anything, merely assessing him before she looked to the three figures she could still see. The police officer set the file down and took a seat. "Now, I believe you are Sunfire the international thief?"
"Is that what I'm being charged of?" Shina asked, not bothering to look at him.
"You certainly have quite a file on you. There are an impressive number of charges from all around the world. Many of whom would love to get you and your clan in their grasp so they can charge you for your crimes." Shina hummed at that. "But we aren't going to get into that. Right now I want to know about a claim you made to our #3 Hero about being in the League of Villains." Shina should have guessed that was their angle. Unfortunately, her hands were tied. She didn't say anything, just kept looking at the third person on the other side of the glass. "You know it would help your case if we could make a deal. You don't have to do any time for them. Your crimes here in Japan are multiple on their own."
"Are they?" Shina asked curiously. "As far as I know, I've committed no crimes."
"There is the robbery of several museums and jewelry stores both in Kyushu as well as Tokyo and Mustafu." The officer stated.
"Huh, you know this all sounds very interesting. It sounds like this Sunfire has caused quite a mess for your taskforce. I'm sure you've all been under media pressure about it but if I may interrupt you from your spiel here I'd just like to say," Shina swiftly interrupted. "I apologize for any miscommunications your hero Hawks may have made. I've been told Sunfire and I share a resemblance in costumes, but I am not this criminal." The officer paused but only for a second.
"Are you denying you are Sunfire?" Shina leaned back as comfortably as she could to continue her stance as 'innocent'.
"I am aware I may resemble her. But I assure you, I was on my way to get into contact with my American liaison when I encountered the hero Hawks who soon engaged me in combat. I was only applying self-defense as he did state I 'wasn't going anywhere'. Hence the bruised ribs." Shina said. She smiled at the third person when she caught the twitch of movement. "I actually have identification on my person that I'm here from America at the request of the Hero Agency I work for. I'm merely in Japan to gather some information about your thief, Sunfire, in regards to another case that we're working on in a joint taskforce with the CIA." Shina reached into her neckline and pulled out a USB drive that was embedded into her costume. "I think this USB would enlighten you about this terrible miscommunication as it has my credentials and basic information to verify who I am." The officer took the USB and nodded.
"Indeed, do you have any other forms of identification on you?" Shina raised an eyebrow.
"Well I did have my cell phone and wallet on me. However, these was stolen thanks to a run in I had with another of your countries villains. Unfortunately, due to the laws on doing hero work in another country I wasn't able to take him in so he got away. I have no idea where he may have run off to with it." The officer hummed as stood up.
"In that case I shall take a look at this USB and verify your identification. If you'll please bear with me I will have to leave you in here while I do this." Shina nodded turning her head to the officer at last to meet his eyes. She smiled seeing the slight tint to his cheeks.
"No problem at all officer. I've made myself very comfortable as you can see." Shina opened her arms, encompassing the room. The officer nodded and ducked out. Shina herself folded her arms and looked back at the mirror. Only one person was in there now. Shina raised her eyebrow. "If you have a question I suggest you ask it before your officer comes back. I will have to leave once my identifications are verified." He left the room but didn't come into the interrogation room. Shina mentally shrugged as it was no skin off her back.
It amused her that the officer took her words as truthful once she'd stated she was in Japan on an American heroes behalf. She mentally sent an apology to the one hero she knew of in California for using this as a tactic. Despite not saying any names, she knew the Japanese embassy would be consulting the American embassy and politics would get involved. If only there had been another way to avoid reporting to Shigaraki about Momo Yaoyorozu putting a tracker on the Nomu's. Still, at least this way she would be able to keep a handle on what was told to the League without putting herself in a delicate situation. Now just to wait for...
The lights above flickered a moment before the power suddenly cut out. Shina smirked, the officer had probably put the USB into his desk computer allowing the Black Star virus to target the building's mainframe and overheat them as well as target the electricity. Shina got up, stretched and broke the cuffs off her hands. She then pulled her camouflage over herself. It wasn't a moment later that the emergency lights came on and the door to the interrogation room slammed open. Hawks was glaring as he scanned the room.
"She's gone! Lockdown the precinct." He ordered turning his head out the door. Shina moved quickly towards Hawks. She grabbed his wrist, twisted it and then flipped his body over her own, ignoring the pull in her side as she did so. Hawks slammed into the floor as the door automatically shut behind them. Shina held a bright hand to his throat as she straddled his chest keeping Hawks pinned to the floor as her camouflage shimmered enough to allow parts of her body to be revealed. Shina held her other hand over his mouth as he glared at her. Shina smiled sweetly at him.
"Thank you for arresting me Hawks. I couldn't have done this without you." Shina then lifted his head and slammed it against the floor before she quickly rolled off him. Shina scrambled to her feet, ignoring the aching in her ribs as she yanked the door open.
Shina stumbled into the halls where she quickly pulled her camouflage over herself to blend in with the police officers that were moving quickly. It didn't take her long to find the jail cells. Shina lowered her camouflage as she created her light swords in both hands. She slashed through the locks on the doors, freeing the inmates locked inside as well as alerting the other police officers that the cells were compromised. She then kicked the emergency doors open before escaping into the precincts back parking lot. There were high chain-link fences encompassing the back lot. There were other officers running towards the entrance who saw Shina. Some of the inmates ran after her, no doubt trying to follow her as she unintentionally led them towards freedom.
Shina ducked and avoided getting into any confrontations as she ran to the closing front gates. The inmates who followed served as distractions for the guards who chased after her. Shina lost them after she slid through the entrance of the parking lot. Shouts and screams behind her didn't stop her as she ran through the darkened streets passing civilians who had noticed the loud sounds of the police precinct's inmate 'rebellion' and power outage. Shina ran into an alleyway and stopped to breathe. Her ribs were still bruised and running hadn't helped. She held a hand against her side and focused on sending most of her energy that way. It wouldn't be instantaneous and would require multiple healing sessions, but she would be fine in another minute.
When Shina finally caught her breath, she put another illusion over herself of a mousy and timid woman before she started to walk the streets to where she'd left her bike.
Her walk was halted when she saw the news flashing on some televisions in a stores window.
'BREAKING NEWS: All Might Fighting Leader of Villains! #1 HERO IN DIRE TROUBLE!'
"Guess I was right to not get involved in this one." Shina murmured before her eyes narrowed. Kana was in the Leagues hands after being kidnapped. She was most likely in the middle of this. Which probably meant one or both of the boys were as well. Shina looked around and walked up to another woman watching the news beside her. "I'm sorry to trouble you, but may I please borrow your phone? I need to check in with my family and my phone was stolen."
"O-oh, sure." The woman handed her cellphone over before going back to watching the news. Shina immediately dialed Yuto's number, walking away from the gathering crowd.
'Hello?' The alert voice answered. Shina mentally sighed.
"Yu, are you at home?" Shina changed her appearance to another woman as she kept walking. No one noticed as they were all enraptured with the drama on the TV.
'Ok thank gods you're alive. I'm at home with Maria and Juanita. But James went with his classmates to go find and rescue Kana and Bakugou from the League.' Shina froze.
"They did what?" Shina asked in fear as she looked back at the TV where All for One and All Might were fighting.
