Smoke And Mirrors

Chapter 12

authors note : Thank you my readers. For the ongoing support.

Haley had left the house after this conversation. She got into her car and drove without telling Nathan where she was going.

She knew he would call and text at some point and she would answer when he did. But at this point she needed a break.

...

"Was I wrong for telling Haley about Rachel and our daughter.? I mean Luke. Why is Haley treating me like the bad guy here.?"

"I've been juggling both parts of my life to the best of my abiilty."

"And now it seems like none of that matters because Haley wasn't told everything when it happened."

"I needed time to process and take in the news."

"I didn't ask for Rachel to end up pregnant and didn't know this girl existed until years later."

"Yet i can do nothing right in her eyes."

"So what am i supposed to do.?" Nathan questioned.

Lucas had alot of thoughts going through his head. Rachel had been hanging around them since high school junior year. Yet she waits until Haley is out of the picture to bring forward the fact that they share a daughter.

That was questionable. But then again. Rachel had never not made her attraction and want for Nathan something she was hiding.

All of a sudden Lucas had a niece he had never met. But more importantly. His best friend was going through alot.

And knowing Haley she wouldn't reach out to him.

Once the rest of the friend group found out.

Sides would be taken.

...

Haley called into work and took off the next few days. She needed to regroup and focus on her family. Especially her kids.

"You're the one who's friends with her!"

"I never liked her. But you. She's not so bad."

"You just have to get to know her."

"She's a bitch. Who will use and do whatever it takes to get what she wants." Peyton proclaimed. Looking to Brooke.

"I liked the person. I thought she was. Clearly that was a lie and i want nothing to do with her now." Brooke replied.

"Nathan just dropped this news on me."

"One minute it's her and Rachel are seperate parts of our life."

"The next he wants me to meet her and for Austin and Nadia to meet her."

"I don't know what to do. He's my husband. I love him." Haley said. Tears falling from her eyes as she spoke.

"Everyone knows that. Especially Nathan but that doesn't mean."

"You should prioritize yourself last. You're important too Haley."

"What you think. How you feel. Don't disregard that for his sake." Brooke proclaimed.

...

Dawn Deborah Gatina was born 10 years ago. And was proof to Rachel she had some level of decency and heart inside of herself.

She told Nathan about their daughter simply because she had seen the person he had changed into and wanted their daughter to have access to that person.

Truthfully Rachel cared not at all about Haley knowing the truth.

She knew who Nathan was before she married him.

To think Nadia Austin and Dawn go to the same school and don't even know their siblings. That's a shame. Rachel thought to herself.

After getting a text from Nathan that Haley knew everything.

...

Nathan welcomed the distraction of basketball practice. The drills. And being able to concentrate on things he had control over.

After a shower he headed straight to talk with Haley. About whatever came next.

Once he entered the home. He found a note awaiting him on the closest table near the door.

Nathan sighed deeply. Seeing it was in Haley's handwriting.

I need time and space to figure out how i feel about you and us. I took Nadia and Austin with. Please don't try to contact me.
