As Ash, Samantha, Cody, and Misty had finally made it farther down the path of the Viridian Forest, the trees started to grow fewer and fewer in numbers.
Finally, they had reached the end of the forest. Ash runs ahead to discover a city within view.
"Yay! That's Pewter city," Misty exclaimed, and in response, Ash sat down on the rock he was standing on and let out a deep breath he was holding.
"For a while, I thought I would be in this forest for the rest of my life," Ash commented.
"Well, with all the detours and wrong turns, I'm amazed we got out at all," Cody commented, looking at Ash."Where going on ahead? You two can sit here and rest, but we're going to the Pokemon center to eat," He said, looking over at his twin sister before starting to walk off.
"See you when you get there," Samantha said, following after her brother.
Samatha and Cody we're now walking together towards the Pokemon center to get something to eat and heal up their Pokemon. Along with Kitsune resting on Samatha's head.
As they were walking, Samantha looked at Cody, who had an annoyed look in his eyes.
"Hey, Cody? " Samantha said, getting Cody's attention.
"Yeah, Anna?" He asked as he looked at her briefly before focusing his attention back in front of him.
"Is traveling with Ash and Misty bothering you?" She asked.
"No, not exactly," He started. "Ash can be annoying and hyper, and Misty loud and temperament, but it been a good journey so far," He continued.
"I see it seemed like you were annoyed back there as you left quickly," She said.
"Oh, I was just annoyed from us taking so many wrong turns in the forest," He sighed. "I mean, it call check the map. Plus, I want to prepare for the upcoming gym battle."
"Okay, that's understandable just wanted to make sure you were doing okay."
"Don't worry, I'm," He smiled. "How about you since we ran into big sister Jessie?" He asked.
"I'm just so confused," She replied. "I don't know what happened to her dream of being the best Pokemon coordinator or a Pokemon nurse. Now she is in Team Rocket and doesn't want to return to us."
"I don't know either," He said."Even If you don't know, you don't plan o-" Cody was suddenly cut off as somebody crashed into him, knocking him onto the ground.
"Cody!" Samatha exclaimed, going to help her brother up.
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry," A female voice said.
Cody and Samantha looked to see a girl with fair skin and long light brown hair. She had big round brown eyes. She was wearing a white hat with a red Pokeball logo. She also had on a light blue sleeveless shirt, along with a red miniskirt. Underneath, she had on matching long socks, and athletic shoes. As well as a yellow bag.
"I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I hope you are not hurt," She said, looking at Cody.
"No, I'm fine," Cody said as he took Samatha's hand and stood up.
"That's good. The name Leaf," She said, introducing herself. "Nice to meet you, Cody. I guess since that is what I heard her call you."
"Yeah, I'm Cody, and this is my twin Samantha," Cody replied.
"Well, nice meeting you both," Leaf said."I"m going to go now and again. Sorry for running into you," She said, taking off toward her destination.
"She is interesting. Wonder what her hurry was," Cody said.
"Who knows," Samantha said. The two continued toward the Pokemon Center.
Samantha and Cody arrived at the Pokemon Center. They both placed their pokeballs onto the tray designed to hold six pokeballs at a time, with Kitsune sitting on top of the tray with Samatha's three pokeballs.
The twins then carried the trays over to the front desk.
"Please heal our Pokemon," Samantha said politely to the lady at the front desk.
The woman looked at the Andrew twins with a warm smile. The twin noticed the familiar face. "Sure thing Cody and Samantha," She replied, taking both of their trays.
"Wow, you, Nurse Joy, look way too much alike, " Cody stated.
"Yeah, if big sister didn't mention that to us before, I would be standing here confused," Samatha agreed as she looked over at the poster on the wall. "A poster for the Pokemon League Regional Championship," She said, walking over towards it.
"Yeah, your right. After we eat, you want to head for the gym?" Cody asked as he headed for the cafeteria
"Sure, but shouldn't we wait for Ash and Misty?" She questioned, following her brother.
"It probably best to go without them since there are three of us challenging, so maybe we should just go ahead and meet up with them after. If they're here by the time we finish eating," Cody stated.
"I guess that is a fair point," Samantha said as she sat down at a table with a bowl of mac cheese on a tray.
"I can battle first. If you want to see what type of Pokemon he has before you battle too, plan a strategy," Cody said as he sat down across from Samatha with mac cheese with a bit of bacon on it.
"Good with me, Mr. Hotshot. Let's see if you're as good as you make yourself believe," Samatha chuckled.
"Oh, I will get that badge with no problem," He stated with fire in his eyes.
"If you say so," She smiled.
The rest of the meal was spent in silence until they heard the familiar voice of Ash.
"Nurse Joy!?" Ash shouted in surprise.
"They're here now just as we finished eating. Let's get our Pokemon, and we can head to the gym," Cody said, standing up.
After retrieving their Pokemon from Nurse Joy, Cody and Samantha left for the Pewter City Gym leaving Ash and Misty alone to eat lunch and get their Pokemon healed.
About a good twenty minutes later of walking, the two had finally arrived at the gym. When they got there, Samantha stared at the building in awe.
The gym was a giant structure made of boulders and iron beams. The whole building seemed to give off an aura of strength.
"Oh wow, this gym looks intense," Samantha said.
"Hey, relax; you be fine; just watch my match closely and plan a strategy," Cody said, touching her shoulder gently.
"Thanks; you always make me feel better, even if you are not always great with words," Samantha smiled.
"Hey, your my sister, and I will always try my best to make you and big sister feel better," Cody said.
"Vulpix!" Kitsune cried, agreeing with Cody.
When they stepped inside the gym, they were surprised to see that it was completely dark, making it hard to see.
"Hello, is there anyone here?" Samatha called out into the darkness, trying to see if anyone was there.
"Who goes there?" A voice asked from within the darkness.
