DAY 7: Wedding + "You're the best thing to ever happen to me." PROMPT
Everyone knows that Inoichi has never approved of his beloved daughter's boyfriends. After all, for him, none of them are worthy of his daughter. However, he never did anything to actively stop those relationships from forming.
Who is he to stop his daughter from loving someone? But if they ever break her heart, the Uchiha's Tsukuyomi torture would be nothing but a fever dream. Thankfully, no one was foolish enough to make her cry or break her heart.
Which brings everyone to their current predicament of being in an awkward situation. Inoichi eyes the groom's outstretched hand darkly. He didn't place his daughter's hand on it. Somehow, they kind of expected it.
When Sasuke voiced his desire to marry Ino, Naruto cheered him on with all his heart but cautioned him that the Yamanaka patriach may not take that lightly. When Ino said yes to Sasuke's proposal 6 months ago, TenTen, Hinata, Temari, and Sakura expressed their glee and happiness for the couple but thought that Inoichi would probably raise hell for a variety of reasons.
One, someone is officially taking his daughter away.
Two, said someone is Sasuke Uchiha. International criminal and former Akatsuki member. Despite the fact that he has been absolved of his crimes and his relationships have been restored, Inoichi will never forget how the last of the Uchiha made his daughter cry and broke her heart.
Their concerns were laughed at by Ino, who said that if it came down to that, then she and Sasuke would just elope.
Sakura rolls her eyes because she knows her best friend would never do that.
To their surprise, the wedding was happening, and Inoichi agreed to walk his daughter down the aisle to Sasuke.
Sasuke is nervous. He doesn't show it, but he really is, especially now that Inoichi is looking into his eyes and trying to find answers. So he answers with his unspoken words: Yes, I will take care of her until my last breath. I will make her so happy that the only tears you'll see are tears of joy. I will always love and choose her in every waking moment.
Ino nervously giggled and sort of whined, "Dad?"
Everyone held their breath when Inoichi stood straighter. Ino nudges him silently and pleadingly.
He laughs, placing his daughter's hand on Sasuke's outstretched hand. "I'll be counting on you then, son."
His words brought tears to the Yamanaka matriarch and Ino, who never thought he'd accept Sasuke as his son-in-law.
Even Sasuke was taken aback. It was no secret to him that Inoichi was waiting for him to screw up in the worst way possible so he would have a reason to interfere in their relationship. Sasuke made Ino cry a lot back then, after all, so hearing Inoichi call him "son" made him happy.
"Yes, father." He intertwines their fingers together. "You can count on me."
Ino nudged his side silently, and he smiled at her so warmly that everyone knew just how happy the blonde made him. When Inoichi saw his daughter smile, he knew he made the right decision to trust the last Uchiha.
Sasuke leans on her. "Have I ever told you that you're the best thing that ever happened to me?"
"No." Ino smiled playfully. "But you could mention that more."
"I will." He gives her hand a squeeze.
They turned to Naruto, who was officiating the wedding, ready to start their life as a married couple.
