DAY 8: "if I only could, I'd make a deal with God, I'd get him to swap our places" + Moon

Ino wished she could turn back time. She wished Sasuke hadn't gone hunting; she wished that Orochimaru, his master, didn't force her into giving him the exilir and didn't stab her for refusing.

If he hadn't, then she would not have drank the elixir.

Her legs are weakened and she sees both her hands in magical cuffs that make her unable to move.

The people before her, the gods of the gods, were watching her with an angry expression, while someone in front of her was saying how dare she covet the elixir her husband won for slaying the 9 suns.

She does not understand what she did wrong.

She was only trying to save herself and her unborn child. Their child. She wished to protect the child her whole life. The child she could sacrifice her mortality for.

Fire struck her before she could blink, and she screamed in agony, yet the people-gods and deities-around her smiled widely, for the sinful mortal had been punished.

"You took the elixir of immortality the Emperor gave your husband for your own! Now you must be punished!"

"Death!" the crowd hollers. "Death to the girl!"

"Death is a punishment befitting a sinful human like you."

Ino hugged her belly tightly, scared for her child.

The woman, whom Ino assumes to be the Empress, smiled wickedly."Why not imprison her in the Moon, dear husband? So she is able to see her husband and know that he'd never be able to reach her, and she to him. I do not know of any punishment worse than that."

Ino gritted her teeth and if she wasn't in so much pain, she would've yelled.

The Emperor, whose facial expression didn't change, nodded his head. "So be it."

Ino watches the earth every night, seeing her beloved husband look above. She wonders if he could see her. She wonders if he could see the chains binding her on the moon. She wonders if he knows why she betrayed him.

She hopes he knows. She hopes he'll forgive her.

Everything had turned to ash for Sasuke the moment he saw Ino being carried into the sky by a light.

Nothing matters now.

Nothing matters now that his beloved wife is immortal and imprisoned.

"Damn it!"

He had heard from stories, legends, and even the messengers of the gods themselves that swift punishment was given to those who disobeyed the gods' desire.

Sasuke doesn't believe in gods, even when he was given a chance to be one. He preferred being with Ino. He was never going to drink the elixir of immortality unless she was given one too.

Sasuke offers Ino's favorite food outside every night, praying to the gods that they'd let her come back. Every night, he prayed to the gods that they send another monster he could slay or any impossible task he could do just so they'd grant him the elixir of immortality again so he could be with Ino.

Every night, he prays that they punish him instead.

Unbeknownst to him, the gods were punishing him by not heeding his prayers, and so, he grew old and perished admiring the moon.

Every year, during the Autumn Festival, they can see Sasuke's spirit looking at the moon and wishing for her return.
