It has been about a week since Della had returned, and Scrooge, Dewey, and Della had just returned from their business trip to Boarway. Surprisingly, no one else was really informed of her return in general, and Ian didn't see it as his business to inform his co-workers, as her return won't really effect them. After all, she wouldn't actually hold a grudge, would she?

"Gearloose!" Della yells as she enters the lab.

"Huh? Who's- oh no." Ian realizes.

"What is it, assistant Boone?" Gyro asks.

"Gyro, run."

"What? Why?"

"Just go, now! Before it's too-"

Gyro lets out a high-pitched yelp as Della grabs the scientist by his vest, turning him about and bringing them face-to-face.

"Late." Ian sighs as he realizes he is about to witness a murder.

"Eleven years! Eleven years of black, friggin', licorice as my only means of survival!" Della snaps irately as she shakes Gyro, close to wringing his neck.

"Della? How are you alive?!" Gyro asks in shock, beak agape.

"Shut it Gearloose! 'So easy that Della can do it'?!" Della snaps, as Ian pulls her off of Gyro.

"Terribly sorry about this doctor Gearloose, I'll handle it." Ian says as he pulls Della away and towards the elevator, struggling to hold onto her.

Gyro sighs in relief, and starts to get back to work, when a loud crash is heard, followed by a rapid clanging.

"Fenton! Manny! Assistance!" Ian calls out as he runs after Della, who tackles Gyro, who lets out another effeminate yelp.

Della holds Gyro by the collar and prepares to punch him, hard, when she is suddenly lifted up and off of him, missing her swing. "Wha- hey! Let go of me!" Della struggles as the two men and the man-horse pull her off of, and drag her away from Gyro.

"Della get ahold of yourself! Scrooge may be rich be he cannot bail you out FOR MURDER!" Ian states as the three actually still struggle to hold her, soon a distance away from Gyro.

Della promptly removes her metal leg and flings it at Gyro, just missing him as he ducks, but breaking the window behind him, water flooding in.

"Della! I just fixed that!" Ian protests as the back up metal shutters close, stopping the water.

"This isn't over Gyro! I will get my revenge! Nothing can stop Della Duck~!" Della declares as she is dragged to the elevator.

"Fenton! Manny! Get her to Scrooge's office now! And keep her restrained if you know what's good for us all!" Ian orders as the two hold onto her, getting her into the elevator as Ian returns to help Gyro up. "You alright?"

"Yes, fine, just a little winded. What is SHE doing here? I thought she died eleven years ago!"

"Long story. Point is, she is back and is not happy you chose black licorice as the only flavor for oxy-chew, and made deriding remarks on her intelligence IN the rocket manual." Ian states.

"Hearing that, I have time to listen, if you know the story."

"Well, in short..." Ian takes a deep breathe. "Della took the Spear which got hit in a cosmic storm, she crashed on the Moon and had to amputate her leg, then for the next eleven years she had to try to rebuild the rocket and get off-" Ian continues to explain every major detail he was told.

Gyro blinks, having understood everything. "Ohh, I see..."

...

Meanwhile, in Scrooge's office...

"Mr McDuck, a word?" Fenton asks as he peeks in.

"What is it Fenton? It better be import-" Scrooge starts to ask, but is cut off.

"Lemme go ya big palookas! Gyro's got it coming!" Della shouts as she struggles against Manny, arms pinned to her sides because of her fighting.

"Wot in blazes is going on?!" Scrooge shouts in shocked confusion at his niece being manhorsehandled and her prosthetic missing, the duck standing up.

"Well, you see sir, this woman forced her way into the lab, attacked doctor Gearloose, and Manny, Ian and I had to restrain her so she wouldn't kill him. Shall I call the authorities, sir?" Fenton explains then asks.

"No, just set her down, ae'll deal with this." Scrooge sighs and goes over to Della, who is sat down on a chair. "Lass, what are yew doing? And where is yer leg?"

"Revenge on Gyro for everything, and down in the lab. I threw it at Gyro. I missed, though." Della states, arms crossed.

Scrooge just runs a hand down his face. "Lass, yew cannae just kill Gyro fer one small screw up. If we did he'd have been dead ages ago."

"Ohhh, so him stranding me on the Moon was a small screw-up?"

"Lass it was a storm! And yew took the rocket early! Plus, a flavor yew dislike and taunting are hardly worth killing over."

"Hmmm..."

Scrooge sighs and gets on the phone.

...

Back in the lab...

Ian is making sure nothing important got wet, when he gets a phone call from Scrooge. "Sir?"

"Mr Boone, please come ta me office and take Della home, and bring her leg, would yew?" Scrooge instructs.

"Yes sir." Ian responds as he finishes checking, then gets the leg and hurries upstairs to collect Della. "Gyro you are a lucky man to still be alive! So don't waste it." He adds.

"Where are you going?" Gyro asks.

"Obeying Scrooge's orders. He overrides your orders as he signs my checks. He wants me to take Della home."

"Understood."

...

Up in Scrooge office, Ian arrives.

"Here you go, Miss Duck." Ian says as he hands Della her leg as she put it back on.

"Thank you, lad." Scrooge then thinks. "A few more things now. One, is ta get Della a new phone, given she likely lost hers a while back."

"Uh, my money or-" Ian is cut off by Scrooge giving him his credit card.

"It is a family expense so it is on me. Don't go spending it all.

"I'll be careful sir don't you worry." Ian responds.

Scrooge nods. "After that, show her around town some, help her get some fresh air ta cool off, tell her how stuff works now before taking her home. Yer the best one fer it."

"Of course, I'll be back after that."

"Ack, just do some work at the manor. Ae'll count it."

"Yes sir. Fenton, tell Gyro I am taking the day off to keep Della away from him."

"Um, alright." Fenton answers as the two leave.

A short while later, Ian is driving Della into town as she fiddles with her leg.

"Stupid Gyro, messing up my leg." Della mutters grumpily.

"You threw it hard enough to break aquarium-grade glass. Your leg is gonna get messed up. Plus, he didn't make you throw it, so your fault."

Della rolls her eyes and mumbles to herself as she works on the leg. It had been bent and set ajar. "How are you so calm around him?"

"I have a younger sister who is infinitely worse. By comparison, he is tolerable... Even if I've nearly died countless times because of him."

"I see. Also, why are you showing me around town? Shouldn't my kids?"

"Your uncle has good judgement. He had me do it for a reason." Ian thinks. "Maybe he wants you to get to know me better for some reason? No clue. Anyways, we're here." Ian pulls over his car and parks it.

...

In the electronics store, Ian lets Della look at phones, but she is completely confused. "Where are the phones? Why are there just a bunch of black rectangles?"

"Those are the phones." Ian remarks.

"Wha- how? Where are the buttons? The antenna even?" Della asks as she looks for said things typical of older cell phones.

"All gone mostly, thanks to rapid technological advancements." He grabs one of the sample phones and hands it to her.

Della is surprised by it being so light for the size. "Wow." She then realizes. "So those things everyone has out and my kids have-"

"Are phones. This is the modern age, Della, and phones have made leaps and bounds."

"So, this entire front area-"

"Is the screen."

"How do I call people or anything?"

"Touchscreen."

"What?"

"Modern smart devices have a capacitive screen that senses when certain surfaces touch it. It translates that into an input. Very reliable, even if not perfect and a tad over sensitive. The kids and I can run you through it."

"So, touchscreen... Wasn't that in a lot of sci-fi stuff?"

"If memory serves me right then yes, it was. One of the few technologies we've achieved."

"Huh... Neat! If it exists now, what'll it be like, twenty years from now?"

"Who knows? We already have voice-activation that is pretty accurate. Maybe holograms will be a thing." Ian shrugs.

"Nice..."

...

Later, Della was looking at her new phone, flipping through in a two-handed manner as the duo walk. Ian was explaining all features and the stuff they bought. Scrooge may not have spent as much as he had, but Ian was a good bargain hunter.

"So, these earbuds are completely wireless and connect to my phone?" Della asks.

"Yep, so no more pocket tangling nor cut wires. Nor having to fight with them to get them to work."

"Well, that is useful. But, you said this thing can charge wirelessly? How?!"

"Hard to explain, and might as well say magic, but point is that this phone puts all functions of multiple devices from ten to fifteen years ago into a single package available to the consumer that fits in your pocket."

"Huh... cool! And you said I can use the internet on this?"

"Yep, and a different one from what you knew. So find info, watch videos, listen to music, get news, play games, and so on."

"Sweet! So, where to next?"

"Well, it is noon and this is my break. How about lunch?"

"Sure! Know any good places?"

"Well there is one place I like. Great food, not too expensive. C'mon, it's just around the corner."

...

At the restaurant, the two were mid-meal, enjoying their food.

"Wow, this place is amazing! This is the best sandwich I've had in 12 years!" Della comments.

"Told ya they were good." Ian remarks.

As they eat lunch, a familiar person approaches.

"Hey Ian!" Dickie says, having been on a jog.

"Huh- Dickie!" Ian gets up and hugs his girlfriend, kissing her on the cheek. "How are you?"

"Great, as usual. How are you?"

"Fine." Ian says, as he remembers. "Oh, Dickie, say hello to Della Duck, Scrooge's niece and the quadruplets' mother."

"Really?! Wow so nice to meet you!"

"Um, you are?" Della asks, confused.

"Oh, sorry, Dickie Duck. I used to babysit the kids a few years back." Dickie explains.

"Oh! Well, nice to meet you! So, you're friends with them?"

"Yep! Your children are wonderful."

"They sure are... So, how do you two know each other? Friends as well?"

"You could say that." Ian grins, as him and Dickie nuzzle nose-to-beak.

"Aw, congratulations you two. I bet you'll make a great couple!"

"I hope so. Maybe one day we can settle down, have a family... preferably a lovely little girl?" Ian imagines.

"Okay, let's not rush. We still both have college to get through first." Dickie chuckles, patting Ian. "Speaking of which, I have to get back to my place. I have an online lecture in half an hour."

"Well. it was nice seeing you again."

"Yeah, nice to meet you. Our house is always open to friends!"

"It was nice meeting you too, Misses Duck. And I'll keep that in mind. Bye!" Dickie leaves after giving Ian a kiss on the cheek

"Well, she seems nice."

"You have no idea." Ian watches his beloved leave, lovestruck. "She's just so... perfect."

"Ah, young love..." Della smiles as they return to finishing their food.

Eventually, Ian arrives at the manor with Della, and the two get out, having discussed more on the phones. "And that should be everything I can help with for now." Ian finishes as he gets his stuff and the two head for the front door.

"Thanks Ian, today was, enlightening. And pretty fun. Though, I may need help in the future." Della admits.

"No problem, I'll just open a group DM with the others."

"Group what?"

"DM, direct message. Sorta like texting- well it is basically texting but on other platforms. Anyway, group allows you to text multiple people at once. All can see what each other is saying."

"Oh, that's pretty cool."

"Lemme just..." He takes her phone and does something. "There, that has all the kids and myself on it. For adjustments, settings explain themselves."

"Neat! Now to figure everything else out."

"I'm sure everyone else can help as well. Especially since, if it requires showing, I can't be here all the time. So, your kids are a good source." He says as he knocks on the door, to which Duckworth answers and lets them in.

"Thanks Duckworth!" Della says as she runs in.

"Good afternoon Duckworth, just bringing Della home and now I'll tend to a few matters around the house." Ian says.

"Of course, Mr. Boone." Duckworth says as the otter enters as well.

Then, Rebecca comes up. "Hey mom! Where have you been?"

"Oh, Ian's just been showing me around town, getting me a new phone, helping me get to know him and how the world works."

Rebecca gasps. "Cool! I'm so glad you're getting to know each other! And looks like Huey won't have to give mom a lecture on technology."

Ian snorts. "He made an actual lecture?"

"He takes things a tad too seriously. Now I gotta break the news his lecture won't be needed." Rebecca says as she leaves to inform her oldest younger brother.

Della then turns to Ian. "Hey, I wanna thank you for everything today. Really helped me to be honest."

"No problem. Part of my job is helping this family, per my contract updated last year." Ian assures.

Then, from inside the manor, they hear Huey has received the news. "NOOOOOOOOOOO~" The red sibling cries out in anguish, devastated.

"Even if it hurts certain mambers at times in the emotional sense."

"Yeah, we Ducks can be dramatic at times." Della admits. "Welp, see ya!"

"See ya." Ian says as they go their separate ways.
