PRINCESS MIMI'S 18TH BIRTHDAY! Part 1:The Dining Hall
~2nd day in Malibu~
Yebin woke up on her birthday, pleasantly surprised that she was in the most blissful mood from the night before. She couldn't wait for the day today. She hoped Jake wouldn't cancel or back out… she was looking forward to seeing him again and spending the day with him. She couldn't have been happier, despite being in the lowest mood of her life when she had first arrived. She had put on such a brave face, and it worked. She got through the loneliness of being in a foreign place alone, or so she thought. As Yebin was still in her teens, she couldn't quite comprehend what loneliness was and thought it was going to end once she was surrounded by people. That's why she was constantly out looking for people to mingle with. Secretly, she wanted nothing more than to just enjoy her own company, but she was so afraid that what she already knew about herself was true- she was bound to be alone. Of course, Yebin would have to learn this regardless and already was a little too acquainted with the harsh realities of the world that she chose to present her life in a fantastical way. She wanted to believe the fairytale she knew she deserved and decided to choose happiness for her 18th birthday.
I wonder if Jakie is going to surprise me with flowers when he picks me up for breakfast! Wait… what time is breakfast? Omg what if I missed it and he already came by but I was sleeping?! Oh no… do I have to be up and ready by breakfast or should I go to breakfast and then get ready? Ahhhhhh! She freaked out internally.
Right at that moment, Jake Gyllenhaal came into her suite calling her name. "Yebin! I mean, Mimi!" He called, knocking on her door. She opened the door with a huge smile and hugged him.
"Hi Jake! Good morning, I was afraid I would miss you this morning for breakfast!" She said, worriedly, looking around, making sure her suitemates weren't being nosey.
Jake let out a smirk because he purposefully made her suitemates open the door for him. He had access to every person on campus's phone number, including Yebin's, and could have just called her directly.
"Ready for breakfast at the dining hall, Princess?" He asked humorously because he found her so adorable for wanting desperately to go to the dining hall. He couldn't figure out why since she looked like one of those Asian princesses who never ate white people food.
"I literally can't wait! I've always dreamed of eating at the college dining halls. It always seemed so fun when I saw other people eat there with their friends…" she said.
"Okay, well, I own this dining hall so tell me what you think," he said, not knowing that Yebin was going there TO critique everything there.
They walked over to the dining hall together while chatting and getting to know each other a little more. But both of them were so shy and comfortable with each other the whole time that they just enjoyed each other's company. Before they started heading over, Jake told her to wait for him for a second and he picked some pink flowers that had bloomed on the campus gardens. He didn't have time to pick up any flowers before he could come get her for breakfast and was afraid she would think he wasn't coming, so he rushed over right as he woke up. He gave the flowers he picked to her and put one in her hair. Yebin sighed in happiness and asked him to take a picture of her.
Jake was in bliss. He was in heaven. He couldn't believe his luck… his parents had forced him into college after he took a gap year to travel. Actually, he had planned on making that gap year for life, and maybe becoming an actor or something cool and fun like that. The last thing he wanted was to become a boring ass professor at some school his parents already owned. But, this was fate. He came back from his gap year just to find his soulmate for life… lifetimes… He couldn't part with her no matter what. All he could do was stare at the mystical creature in front of him whom he wanted to cherish and love for life. I'll give you everything, he thought, Just love me back forever Yebin Hwang…
Right at that moment, Yebin looked up at him and held his hand. Jake sighed in happiness and tugged her closer to his body. "My love language is physical touch," he said out of the blue.
"Love language?" She asked.
"Don't you know the 5 love languages?" Jake asked, happy that he could teach her something if she didn't know it.
"No, I think I've heard of that before… physical touch? I think my love language is physical touch too!" She said, enjoying the hug that Jake was giving her with his body language. He said "I love you" in every way without saying it, yet. I love you too Jakie… her subconscious told her.
When they reached the dining hall, Jake looked around and made sure everyone knew that Jake had claimed Miss Princess, as she had already begun to be known as. He spread it himself, but still, he loved her new nickname. That means he was Mr. Prince Charming. (Although no one called him that.)
Yebin still had the pink flower in her ear that Jake had picked for her and was dressed in a pink pajama set, which she didn't know she had to dress out of. She looked around at all the girls who were already dressed for the day. Oopsies… I hope I'm not embarrassing Jake with my pajamas… I'll dress up next time, but today's my birthday so I'm going to give myself a free pass.
She looked around the dining hall… there was an omelette station with a very long line, which she was very interested in. She went over to look at what kind of cereals they had, and there wasn't a huge variety, much to her dismay. There were fruits, oatmeal, and BACON! Yummy! She thought. I'll start at the omelette station and make my way over to every single station there is here!
"Where do you want to start, Princess?" Jake asked, silently laughing at how funny her reactions were.
"Let's start at the omelette station and work our way over to every station! Do you want to share our food?" She asked. Jake was stunned… he never shared food… don't you only share food when you're like… married?! He thought. Oh my god, maybe she wants to marry me?
"YES! Let's SHARE IT ALL!" He said, loud and proud.
Yebin looked at him a little strange, but she just assumed he was in an equally good mood as her. She wanted to share all her plates so that they could try a little bit of everything. But regardless, she was in bliss that she had Jake to share all her food with.
As they sat down to try all the items they grabbed, Jake wanted to kiss her. He had binge watched Korean dramas since he laid eyes on her 24 hours ago, and he just couldn't help but see her as the main character of every movie, drama, tv show ever created. He smiled with his right side and wanted to kiss her soo badly. But he held himself back because he didn't want to scare her and found out that Korean dramas were quite conservative.
Yebin made a note at the omelette station… why was a rich, giant, private school such as UM using fake eggs?!
"Jake, I must say… don't you find it a little disgusting that people can even eat fake eggs?! Like why am I paying all this money just to eat fake eggs here? Can y'all not afford fresh cracked eggs sourced from a farm here? This is Malibu… and um, isn't this school known for their nutrition program?" She said, extremely judgmentally, looking at him and shaking her head in disapproval.
"Um… huh? These aren't fake eggs.." Jake said, a little scared and confused. He gulped.
"Really? What would you call that gross weird mixture they were using from a plastic bottle then?" She countered.
"Um… oh… yeah… huh, they weren't even using r-r-real eggs from the sh-shell…" he stuttered out, not knowing if she still liked him or not because she didn't like his food…
"Hmm, I'll still eat it because I'm so curious! You know I've never had oatmeal before! I don't even know how to eat it! But you know, I like that there's a huge sauce bar here so I want to try all the sauces with our omelette."
Oh thank god… he thought, our omelette means she still wants to marry me.
"I'll talk to my parents about this disgusting fake egg business we have going on here, Yebin. I swear." He said seriously.
"Thank you because that's repulsive that all these rich kids think they have good taste or something and eat this kind of shit. It's genuinely repulsive me to be around such tacky, uneducated people," she said as she enjoyed her omelette with all the different sauces she had brought to the table.
Jake laughed on the outside but was secretly afraid that she would realize that he was one of these people… He started to panic and hyperventilate. Yebin had absolutely no idea she was offending Jake and kept going… "Oh my GOD… why do the fruits here look and taste like this?! This is Malibu, and they can't even serve us seasonally?! Jesus… ARE THESE GMO BERRIES… holy crap… I'm going to yak."
Jake looked down… and Yebin realized that Jake was starting to feel embarrassed. "Oh my god, no, Jake! I thought you WANTED me to tell you my thoughts so you can better the dining hall… no no! I'm really enjoying this! This is my hobby! I'm so sorry…" she said, eyes wide with regret and fear…
She kept apologizing to him… "I'm so sorry, Jake… I really love this, you know… for the experience! I thought- since you thought Malibu Farm sucked that you had immaculate taste buds! I'm so so sorry."
Holy crap… he thought to himself, even more embarrassed than before. Uhhh, no I thought Malibu Farm was BASIC… not that the coffee sucked… I don't know jack shit about coffee PRINCESS! He screamed internally.
Jake looked at her in panic and told her that it was alright and he swore to her that he would write down everything she said in an angry email and tell his parents to change everything- Because seriously… he had never been more embarrassed to be alive than right now.
The rest of the dining hall was silent while Yebin continued to critique every last item they ate.
"Uhhh, so my sister got my yacht prepared for the day," he said with an awkward smile trying to change the conversation.
"Holy crap… seriously?! Wow, thank you so much Jake.. it's going to be my first time on a yacht in America," she said gratefully as she chowed down on all the different kinds of white people food she wasn't allowed to eat at her house.
"Where are you from Princess?" Jake was so curious about her background. What a fascinating creature…
"Me? I'm Korean! But I grew up in Orange County- FLORIDA. Hicksville, may I add," she said.
"Aha… why Orange County… why not Dade County?" He inquired.
"Uhhh, I don't know… I probably wouldn't fit in there though… Orange County is great! It's beautiful and peaceful. The only issue there is really the racism," she told him, "I guess my mom thought it would be easier to settle down in Orange County than a big city."
Jake was surprised she suddenly brought up her mom… he wanted to ask her more about her background when she was none the wiser. It seemed like when she was eating was the best time to ask. She was too preoccupied with judging all the food in front of her. This isn't Master Chef or Hell's Kitchen…it's just a fucking dining hall, he thought. Jesus… I can't wait to impress her with my family yacht. I've literally never been more embarrassed- AND I KNOW GORDON RAMSEY... Maybe I should tell her about my gap year, or maybe she'll think I'm embarrassing for traveling this much and still eating fake eggs… oh my god… I hate my parents so much… they've humiliated me. Fuck you dad! You couldn't have prepared us steak or something for breakfast?! Jeez, now she thinks I'm a hick from Hicksville who doesn't even eat seasonal fruits! This is Malibu! Greatest city in the world! Most expensive place to live! I should be the one impressing her. God I'm humiliated…
