Regardless if it's been a while or recently, and as a welcome to anyone whose new to my stories, let me say hello to you all! I apologize that this isn't a new chapter, but this is important and I hope you take the time to read this update notice.
Also, to remove any worries to those familiar with the few I've made when my writing slump began? Know this update ONLY has good news this time.
Notice: This update will be deleted on 10/10 - READING IS ADVISED
To start things off, the primary part of this announcement is, as not everyone may have seen it on my profile... that I am officially out of my writing slump! Thanks to everyone whose been so supportive and understanding these last two years. However, while I am getting back to regularly updating, there are a few things that have changed since then that will affect my update rate.
First off, and this is only temporary, but my family and I will be making up for lost time with our extended family. The pandemic caused a lot of our family events (both annual and non-annual) to be canned. However, now that vaccines are able to cover nearly all ages, we're making up for it since we have our yearly Halloween Party on the way, alongside Thanksgiving and Christmas, which we all had to spend on our own since 2020 due to new family members.
I'll still try updating for the rest of 2022, but it might not be that much.
Second, which some may have noticed via the potential stories listed on my profile, I've become quite the fan of Genshin Impact and now play it regularly. On one hand this has cut into some of my writing time, but on the other, it's also helped give me new ideas because of the gorgeous landscapes and some lore I've found. The same is true with other Hoyoverse games that I don't play since their stories are all so interesting, and has helped my spark recover.
My only regret is that too much of Genshin Impact's story has yet to be released, making it too risky for me to start my fanfic idea for it because I want to avoid retconning anything if contradicted by the still unreleased content. That being said... if anyone can show me the Mondstat region story is too early in for too many retcons, then I might at least consider releasing that part.
Lastly, but most importantly, I've started restructuring how I organize my stories a little. This one's a little more complex, so I have story specific details I'll be sharing below to explain it. Though if it goes well? You can expect my updates rates to increase while also getting more to my stories than you did prior!
With all of that said, here's the story specific details:
Specific Details for Date A Live: Altered Timeline
Before I share anything specific to this story, I'll be sharing some details it will share with two others, since it's part of my "Big Three" fanfics (the ones with the most content planned for them) and said idea is tied to their sizes.
Part of my new organizing technique is that I'll be using Side Stories to help share content that I find will be hard to fit into the story. Not so much that I'll be unable to add them in, but that doing so would require either an arc that counts as a whole flashback, or as either episodic/sporadic scenes across a few chapters. The former's got a lot of problems in properly executing it, while the latter's main issue is tricky to properly do and can end up being a hassle.
I'll be sharing these Side Stories via two ways, Minor and Major.
Those that fall into the Minor category will be put into a single story, like an anthology of sorts. Those that fall into the Major category will be entire stories of their own since they're unique or big enough to be separated into their own. This also means some of the Side Stories that were formerly AO3 exclusives will be transferred over here, but not all of them depending on what they are, including those that I have yet to publish.
Now, with that out of the way, to the actual story specific info.
Revisions are still ongoing and in the best position among the "Big Three" fanfics, the only reason I haven't gotten to uploading Ch 2's is because a mixture of focusing on Daydreamer Dragon's first revised chapter, Season 4 taking most of my attention and the bomb it dropped at the end, and one scene in Ch 2 taking a while because I'm trying to find the right wording because of how it relates to something in Ch 4's revision.
Luckily, one of the few updates I'll be able to guarantee for the rest of 2022 is a Side Story of the Major category, which will be sharing how all the Spirits got their powers. I technically already did this via the "Asgard Electronics - Daily Observations: Confidential Data" over on AO3, but what I said about about flashbacks made me change my mind and realize I should expand on them. The story will be called: "Altered Timeline: Sephira Chronicles" when it arrives.
And with that, here's a preview scene to thank you all for taking time to read this.
Shiizaki looked at the readings more closely, feeling something was off about them... only for her to pull away and gasp when the reading line suddenly spiked and swapped between a wavy line and zig-zagged line every few seconds!
"Is everyone seeing this!?" She asked, turning around in shock.
"Yeah, and after the readings we got from Beast's first appearance? I'm already terrified on what this might be." Elsie confirmed.
As she said that, however, Maria felt something.
"Wait... I think that reading's a message." Maria shared, putting a hand near her ear.
"Message?" Elsie repeated.
"Turn off everything else for a moment, I hear something." She requested.
Elsie thought about it for a moment, then looked at Marina, who nodded.
"Alright, all other systems off!" She replied.
In a moment, every other system besides Shiizaki's was turned off, and the Arusu sisters tried to focus on readings to confirm her theory. After a few seconds, the two felt their eyes widen.
"It is a message! An SOS to be exact!" Maria confirmed.
"Specifically... a ship's about to crash!" Marina revealed.
"Say what!?" Elsie shouted.
Right as the words left her mouth, the sight of a ship smashing through the dimensional walls was seen, one that looked to be from an sci-fi movie with a setting that was at least a few centuries in the future. Despite how impressive it looked, however, it had a torn wing that was on fire before an explosion made it fall off and aim for the ground.
"Mukuro! Natsumi! Come on!" Nia shouted, looking at the two.
Both of them nodded as Mukuro immediately summoned Michael.
The three warped into the area, with Nia quickly holding out her hands, grunting as she reduced the ship's gravity and telekinetically pulled it upwards, only slowing it down.
"Hurry... can't hold... much longer!" She grunted.
"OK, uh... think soft dirt, wet dirt, mud maybe?" Natsumi thought, hurrying to think of soft ground.
She shook her head and just decided to wing it, and stabbed Haniel into the ground behind them.
"Segva!"
Mukuro held out Michael, opening a pair of portal that appeared in front the ship's path and where Natsumi was softening the ground. The ship soon flew through it as Nia finally lost her hold on it and it regained its former momentum.
All three watched as the ship landed, hitting the soft ground before it was shot into the air, firing out some sort of escape pod before it continued to bounce a few more times before finally exploding. The trio covered their eyes in response.
"That didn't go as I was expecting it to!" Natsumi shouted, still covering her eyes from the explosion's light.
"Hence that old saying, no plan survives first contact!" Nia replied.
When the light of the explosion finally faded, the trio opened their eyes, and saw the escape pod had landed not too far from them. It started to release steam, slowly opening itself to the world.
"Mukuro, might wanna have the others join us in case the SOS was some kind of trap..." Nia advised.
"Right..." She nodded, now feeling nervous.
She opened a portal and the others all came through, leaving the Spirits to all stare as the pod fully opened, revealing what or who was inside of it. It was a girl with long, pink hair that reached down to her kneecap. She wore a hood with black spikes, large dog-like gloves, and what was best described as a futuristic leotard, dog collar, and stockings only a hand apart from her leotard.
"A humanoid looking alien, or... is she something else?" Nia wondered aloud, looking at her.
Everyone looked at Kurumi.
"I've never seen her before, but that doesn't mean she can't have come from Hibiki's world." Kurumi answered.
The girl briefly opened her eyes, which were the same shade as her hair, and weakly squinted as she saw Mukuro.
"Is... is t... u... R...e...?"
Her faint mumbling quickly ceased as she lost consciousness once again.
"She's been badly hurt. Come on, let's get her to Elsie." Tohka suggested.
"Grab her by the arms." Nia advised.
Kotori and Tohka grabbed her arms as Nia warned them, lifting the girl upright as Mukuro opened another portal and they returned to Asgard Electronic's underground base.
As they left, they failed to notice a Nibelcole having been watching them from a distance, slowly creeping out of view as it confirmed the arrival of the strange girl. The sound of a satisfied cackle echoing out of the slowly closing dimensional hole she had come from.
