The whole time I was at work I felt kind of off, I couldn't really concentrate, mainly because I knew Brittany was sick. I also knew that I should have pushed her to stay home a little harder. It's not like Brittany needs to go to work for the money anyways. So when she texted me and asked could I come get here, without a second thought, I took my apron off and told Puck I needed to leave. I stopped home and got her a sweatshirt, to try to warm her up a little and sped to her diner.
When I walked in the diner and went back to the break room Brit was curled in a little ball fast asleep on the couch. She looks so cute and pathetic all at the same time. I gently pat her head with a cold towel to wake her up, because she has a fever like out of this world right now. Once I get her to the car, I drive slowly home, because it's once again snowing, and of course there aren't any damn plow trucks out.
I glance over at her and frown. "Brit?"
She looks up at me with the reddest, saddest, glossiest eyes ever. "Yeah Sanny?"
"I'm going to take good care of you baby, ok?" I tell her with a smile.
She slowly nods. "I know." She whispers out as I grab her hand and lift it to my mouth and pepper soft kisses to it before setting it in my lap. We get home and I have her go lay in bed right away, after changing to some fluffy pajama pants, a thermal t-shirt, and a sweatshirt. She falls asleep within minutes, so I go to the bathroom and make her another cold compress and lay it carefully across her forehead. I then ransack my medicine cabinet and realize I really don't have any medicine. I pull out my phone and make a list of everything I want to buy. I then decide to make Brit some homemade chicken noodle soup, which works perfectly because I'm in the mood for soup as well.
The entire time I'm walking through the apartment like a crazy person, Chef is right on my heels squeaking a toy. I know he wants to play but I just can't right now. I look down at him and smile when he starts to chew on my pants leg to get my attention. "I promise we'll play later." I tell him as I lean down and rub his head. I then take his bowl and roll it out of the kitchen and laugh as he quickly chases it.
I look through the fridge and notice I have everything I need except for some saltine crackers, pepper, and noodles. Thankfully I don't need to go to the grocery store, since the small convenience store on the corner will have the few things I need to get. I pull the chicken out of the fridge and wash and season it, and set it a pot of water to start cooking; Luckily, I took it out of the freezer last night because I was going to roast it for dinner, so I don't have to wait for it to thaw. I pull out the chicken stock I have in my freezer and decide I'll buy one more carton just in case, Brit seems really sick, so I want to make sure I have enough soup for her.
I go back to the bedroom and sit on the bed. "Brit, baby, I'm going to run up the street to the store and grab you some medicine and Gatorade." I tell her when she opens her eyes slightly.
"I feel like a sad panda." She whispers out before sneezing 3 times.
"Awwwww, bless you." I say with a frown as I rub her arm. "Well, I'm going to make sure you feel better in no time." I reassure her. I kiss her on the cheek before I stand up. "If you think of anything you need from the store just text or call me." I tell her.
I put my coat back on and head out the door. I'm halfway down the hall when I hear Chef barking and screaming. I quickly run back and open the door and see him sitting there; he cocks his head to the side and stares at me.
"I guess you want to come huh?" I ask him while laughing. I grab his leash and his little coat and slip it on him quickly. I glance over at Lord Tubs, who honestly looks relieved that Chef is leaving and wink at him.
"Keep an eye on Brit for me."
It takes up forever to walk up the block since Chef decided to sniff and piss on every damn tree. While it was cute the first 3 trees, I was cold and kind of in a rush, so I ended up picking him up and carrying him the rest of the way, which I don't think he minded anyways. When we got to the store I walked up to Antonio, the owner, who was behind the register.
"Hey Antonio, I'm just grabbing a few things do you find if my little guy shops with me, I'll hold him the entire time." I ask him as Chef stares at him.
Antonio laughs. "When did you get a dog, Santana?" He asks me.
"I found him in the blizzard a few days ago." I tell him with a smile.
"He's cute." He replies. "Just be quick, so the other patrons don't complain."
"Gotcha!" I say with a smile as I pick up a hand basket. "Ok, Chef, we gotta be quick." I go up and down the aisles, I grab Tylenol, NyQuil, Benadryl, cough syrup, cough drops, throat spray, vitamins, chicken stock, peppercorn, saltine crackers, Gatorade, a new toy for Chef, a toy for Lord Tubs, and a huge bag of Skittles for myself.
I quickly head back up to check out when I when I see a stuffed Panda. "This has to be a joke." I laugh as I grab the panda and toss it in the basket. Antonio starts to ring up everything for me.
"So what's his name?"
"This is Chef." I tell him as Chef begins to lick my face. "No kisses." I tell him with a smile.
"So how's that gorgeous girlfriend of yours?" He asks.
"Amazing." I tell him. "Well, aside from her being sick, hence all the medicine. I think she has the flu."
"Yeah, the flu is going around." He states as I hand him my card to pay. After I sign, I set Chef back down so I can carry the bags home.
"Thanks Antonio." I call over my shoulder as I head home, with Chef once again stopping at every tree. Once we finally get home, Chef runs over and starts playing, which gives me some time to quickly unload the groceries, and go check on Brittany.
I see her in the kitchen and quickly frown. "Why are you out of bed, Brit?" I ask her as I set down the bags.
"I wanted some juice." She replies out in a raspy voice before sneezing.
"Bless you. I'm going to make you some fresh squeezed juice, baby." I tell her while pulling out the bag of oranges from the fridge.
"Ok." She smiles. "Can I lay in here, it's lonely in the bedroom." She asks shyly
I laugh. "Of course, let's get you comfy on the couch." I grab her hand and lead her over to the couch. I go to the guestroom and grab the extra pillows off of the bed and bring them out. "Lay down." I tell her as I grab the blankets I keep next to the couch and toss them on her. I stroke her hair a few times as Chef runs over by her and tries to jump on the couch. "No, you go play." I tell him while grabbing his new rag bone out of the bag and giving it to him. He takes it and runs over to his bed and lays down to chew on it.
I hand Brittany the remote. "I'll make your juice and some tea." I tell her as I head to the kitchen. I pop a green tea in the Keurig for her, and cut 4 oranges in half and use the hand juicer to squeeze all the juice out in a glass. I add a little honey to the tea when it's done. I grab a sleeve of crackers and open them and walk everything to the kitchen for Brittany. "Here, baby." I tell her. "Drink the juice down right away."
She sits up slowly and drinks the juice as I bring out the medicine and had her some pills. "Thanks San." She says before laying back down. I kiss her on the temple and head back to the kitchen.
I chop up 3 garlic cloves, cut up 2 carrots, and 2 stalks of celery, and I finely chop some parsley to get ready for to add them to the soup when the time comes. I check my chicken and add a little more seasoning to the water before I head back to the living room and sit on the chaise part of the couch and invite Brittany to rest on my lap.
"We didn't finish the tree." Brittany says sadly.
"That's ok, Brit." I tell her as I rub her back. "We can finish it when you feel better, there's no rush."
"Ok." She nods.
"Get some rest." I whisper out to her as Chef comes running over to us. "Chef, I don't want you to get sick buddy." I tell him. "You can't cuddle up here today." He cocks his head to the side and runs away. I look down at Brittany and see she's asleep so I turn to the cooking channel and begin watching Cupcake Wars, hoping to get some new ideas when my phone rings.
Hello
Where the hell are you? I am at Molasses and I want my Snixxtini
I laugh Sorry Q, Brit is super sick so I left work to come home and take care of her. I had to pick her up from work
Ahhh geez, the flu?
Yeah I think so, I'm making her some chicken noodle soup right now so hopefully she feels better.
Well I guess you don't want to go bowling with us later then
Nope, gonna have to pass but have fun
Will do, tell Brit I hope she feels better.
I well, she's asleep but I'll tell her when she wakes up.
Cool, oh and I got some new orders for you, cookies and cupcakes from people at my office
Damn Q, you are working it for me. Thanks babe
Thank me with red velvet cupcakes?
I laugh and nod. No problem Quinn.
I'll talk to you later San
I hang up the phone and rub Brittany's back as I watch the show, and get like 5 new ideas for cupcakes. I close the notebook I 've been scribbling notes and ideas in for the past 45 minutes and glance up at the time. I carefully slide from under Brit and go to the kitchen. I check the chicken and see it's done, and smells like everything good in life.
I take it out of the water and set it on the cutting board. I quickly cut it apart and begin to shred it. I place a soup pot over medium heat and coat the bottom with extra virgin olive oil. I add the onion, garlic, carrots, celery, a few thyme leaves, and a bay leaf. I stir for about 6 minutes, until the vegetables are softened but not browned. I then pour in the chicken stock and bring the liquid to a boil. After that I add my noodles and let it simmer for 5 minutes until tender. I take my shredded chicken and fold it in the broth and vegetables, before continuing to let it simmer for another couple of minutes. I add a little with salt and pepper to season. I grab Brittany a bowl and add a few ladles of soup for her and sprinkle the chopped parsley on top for a little garnish.
I go to the living room and rub Brittany's back to wake her up. "Wake up Brit, I made you a little soup."
She slowly opens her eyes and smiles. "Ok."
I help her sit up and hand her the bowl of soup. "Careful, it's a little hot." I warn her. I then go back to the kitchen and grab myself a bowl and sit next to her on the couch.
"This smells really good." She says softly before sneezing.
"Bless you Brit and thank you." I tell her. "Eat up so you can go back to sleep."
She nods and begins to slowly eat the soup while we watch another episode of Cupcake Wards. "You should make those." She says while pointing to the screen.
"Really?" I ask her. "Would you eat them?"
She nods and I watch her swallow slowly while closing her eyes tightly. "Yeah, I would." She replies.
"Make sure you eat the broth, Brit." I tell her while rubbing her lower back. "It will help your throat."
"It hurts." She says sadly with the cutest pout I've ever seen.
"I know, I hate seeing you sick, Brit." I tell as I lean over and kiss her neck. "You still have a fever." I say softly to her.
"I hate feeling sick. I hate being a sad panda." She mumbles out as she takes another bite of her soup and rests her head my shoulder.
Chef comes over so I fish a piece of chicken out of my bowl and give it to him; he shows his appreciation by licking my pants leg before walking away.
"I almost forgot." I say quickly as I jump off the couch. I run to the kitchen and grab the stuffed panda I got at the store. "Here Brit Brit." I say with a smile.
Her eyes light up as best as they can and she quickly sets her bowl on the table. "What's this?" She asks as I hand her the panda.
"You said you felt like a sick panda, so I thought maybe if you saw a happy smiling panda, it would make you feel better." I tell her shyly.
Brittany smiles and tells to look at me. "Thanks San. I wish I could kiss you right now." She says.
I lean forward to peck her softly and quickly on the lips. "You're welcome baby."
After we eat, I quickly take Chef outside, and clean up the kitchen. Brit and I are cuddled on the couch again while we watch TV; her fever seems to be slowly fading a little, which relaxes me a little more. Brittany is once again asleep on my lap as I stroke her hair softly and finish yet another episode of Cupcake Wars. I love when the Food Network plays marathons. I start to doze off myself when my cell phone rings and startles me a little.
What's up Q
I need a huge favor San, are you busy?
No, just watching TV
I need you to make me some cupcakes,
Ok, when do you want them and what kind?
I need them in like 2 hours max and I need 36
Tell me you're joking Lucy Quinn Fabray
I completely forgot Sam has a work function tonight and I volunteered to bring a dessert.
Why do you always volunteer to bring food when you know damn well you can't cook? I hiss out at her.
Because I have you. Quinn laughs out
I don't respond because I'm rolling my eyes, not because she wants me to bake but because Quinn has a bad habit of volunteering for stuff out of her reach. What if I was at work, or I was the one sick, or I needed to take Brit to the hospital?
I know Brit is sick and I can come help you She adds quietly.
Fine Quinn, what kind do you want?
Honestly, it doesn't even matter.
Ok, be here ASAP
I'm already at the door.
I groan and hang up the phone. "Brit…" I say softly as I rub her back. "Baby…"
Brittany stirs and slowly wakes up. She looks up at me groggily. "Hey beautiful." I say with a smile. "I need to bake some cupcakes for Quinn really quick. Do you want to go lay down in the bedroom, so we aren't too loud?"
"Ok." Brittany nods. "Can you save me a cupcake?"
"I absolutely will." I tell her as I help her stand up and grab her hand as we walk to the bedroom, I open the door as I walk past it for Quinn. Chef jumps up and runs over to her, I smile as they play and follow Brit to the room. I help her in bed and tuck her in tightly. I kiss her on the forehead and smile at her. "Do you need anything, baby, before I start baking?" I ask her.
"Just some more juice and some cough drops." She says while starting to cough.
"Ok, be right back." I tell her. I walk in the living room and greet Quinn. "Hey." I tell her as she hugs me.
"Thanks again San, I brought cupcake liners." She says happily. "And that apple cider beer you like."
I grab the items and smile. "Bribery is definitely what you need right now." I tell her. "Turn on the oven to 350 and start getting ingredients out for me."
"Ok." She nods and heads to the kitchen, with Chef biting her ankles.
"Get your damn dog." She complains while shaking her leg to get him to stop.
"You're interrupting his play time." I laugh out as I grab Brittany a Gatorade and some cough drops.
I give Brittany the items and come back to the kitchen. "Ok, so you need 36 total?"
She nods and hands me the beer. "Thanks." I tell her while taking a sip. "I open the fridge and pull out the strawberries. "I'm making strawberry lime stuffed vanilla cupcakes."
"Sounds good." Quinn replies. "What do you want me to do?" She then asks.
"Nothing, you're good." I tell her with a smile as I measure out sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla, baking powder, and milk. "Grab a few limes for me, please."
I start by whipping the milk, butter, sugar, and eggs together until fluffy and then I slowly add vanilla. I then add the sugar and flour to the bowl mixing until they are combined, I then add the milk, eggs, and butter mixture, before I add the baking powder, eggs, vanilla, and butter. I turn on my mixer, which I love it, and let it work its magic. I grab my cupcake pans and had them to Quinn. "Line them up."
"So, how are you Sam?" I ask her. "You seemed kind of distant the other night."
Quinn shrugs. "Things are going ok."
"That sounds convincing." I tease as I start to pour the batter into the cupcake holders.
"You and Brittany have been together for only a few months right?" She asks. I nod and raise an eyebrow at her as I continue to pour the batter. "You're already living together, with plans to move in her penthouse in April right?"
"Yeah." I tell her. "What's your point?"
"Do you think you moved too fast?" She asks me.
I stop pouring for a moment and think. "No, I love Brittany so much, I think we are moving at the perfect speed, well the perfect speed for us." I correct myself. "Why?"
"Sam and I talked about marriage a few days ago, well I talked about marriage a few days ago, and he said he doesn't know if he ever wants to get married." Quinn replies softly.
"Whoa." I tell her as I set the cupcakes in the oven and grab a mixing bowl to make my frosting. "Did he say why?" I ask as I grab the lime juice out of the fridge.
"He says he likes where we are right now." Quinn replies. "I think we moved in together too soon."
I frown and mix together the butter, powdered sugar, lime juice, and vanilla to make my butter cream frosting. "You think he's too comfortable?"
Quinn nods. "Yeah I don't know, maybe we are too young to get married. I should have never brought it up." She says quickly.
"You're never really too young . " I tell her. "I think when you're ready to move to the next level with someone, then you're ready."
Quinn takes a spoonful of the frosting and eats it. "God, you are such an amazing cook." She smiles.
"Thanks, it's just frosting Q." I laugh out.
"I don't know what to do San." She sighs out while eating another spoonful of the frosting.
I shake my head at her. "What is your heart telling you to do?"
"Its conflicted right now, I mean, I want to get married and have kids, that's always been a dream of mine. I can't stay with someone that doesn't want to get married." She states.
"Are you hungry?" I ask her. She shrugs. "I made some homemade chicken noodle soup, get yourself a bowl." I tell her while handing her a bowl. Quinn nods and scoops some soup in a bowl. "I think maybe you should talk to Sam about it again, let him know you don't want to get married like right this instance but that it's a future life goal for you."
I go to the fridge and grab some berries out and yogurt and toss them in the blender. While it mixes, I grab the Popsicle molds I have out of the cupboard and rinse them out. I then pour the mixture into the molds and set them back in the freezer.
"You still make your own popsicles?" Quinn laughs.
"Damn right I do." I laugh out at her. "These are for Brittany though, hopefully it helps with her sore throat."
Quinn leans on the counter and begins to eat her soup as the oven timer goes off. I grab the cupcakes out and set them in the freezer for a few minutes to chill them so I can spread the frosting on them. "I'm going to check on Brit, count out 36 strawberries for me and set them in a bowl."
I head back to the bedroom and see Brittany is asleep, I notice she drank her Gatorade. I also notice her nose is running, so I go to the bathroom and grab a box of tissue and set it on the bed next to her. I then softly wipe her nose and toss the tissue in the garbage. She starts to cough in her sleep so I rub her back, which wakes her up.
"Is it morning?" She asks tiredly.
"No, Brit." I tell her softly. "It's 8pm."
"Ok." She nods while wiggling to get comfortable again.
"I'm almost done baby, then we can take a hot bath, that will make you feel better too." I tell her before I kiss her on the forehead. "Give me another hour, ok?"
Brittany nods and smiles weakly. "You're like a angel, an angel that delivers medicine, and fruit, and Cheetos." She mumbles out.
I laugh and kiss her hand. "Go back to sleep Brit."
"You two are so awesome together." Quinn smiles as I head back to the kitchen.
I blush and shrug. "It's easy when you love someone. I love Brit so much, I want to take care of her in everyway possible, and I know she wants to take care of me in every way possible."
"Did she buy you the mixer?" Quinn asked.
"Nope, bought it myself." I say proudly.
"Cool." Quinn smiles. "It's a nice one."
"Yeah I love it." I tell her. "I can't wait until we move to the penthouse, Brit let me design the kitchen and pick out all the appliances myself."
"Oh God, how much did you spend?" Quinn laughs out.
"I don't know." I laugh nervously. "I just told the contractor what I wanted, but if it's a lot, I'll give Brit some money for it."
"She won't take your money, you know that." Quinn laughs.
"I know." I say quietly as I grab the cupcakes out of the freezer.
"The soup was amazing." Quinn smiles. "Thanks."
"No problem." I tell her. "Can you scoop some frosting in my piping bag please?"
I hear the familiar melody of Chef claws and his collar jingling as he runs clumsily in the kitchen. "Hey you." I say with a smile as he jumps up on my leg.
"You are so cute with him San." Quinn laughs as Chefs wags his tail happily.
"Can I give him a treat?" She asks.
"Yeah, give him one of those bacon things over there." I tell her. "Break it in half though, he doesn't need the whole piece."
Quinn nods and breaks the treat in half. "Here Chef." She says while waving the treat at him. He glances up at me, like he's asking for permission.
"Go get it buddy." I tell him and start laughing as he clumsily runs over to Quinn and snatches the treat and scurries out of the kitchen.
"So cute." Quinn laughs before washing her hands and continuing to fill my piping bag.
I take the cupcakes out of the pans and set them in my custom boxes, I love Brittany so much for ordering these. Once I get them settled in the boxes I carve a cone shape in the middle of each of the cupcakes and toss the remaining pieces in a bowl. "Quinn cut the tops of the strawberries off for me."
"Ok." She goes to work on them. "So, what are you getting Brittany for Christmas?"
I pause and look up at her. "I have no idea, I mean she can afford to buy herself whatever she wants."
"Yeah, but she doesn't." Quinn points out.
"That's true." I reply as I start to pop the strawberries in the holes I carved out in the cupcakes.
"How the hell do you even think about this stuff?" Quinn asks as she mouth drops open when she sees what I'm doing with the strawberries.
I laugh and shrug. "I don't know honestly. Keep putting the strawberries in, so I can start frosting these."
"Ok, buy her a watch." Quinn suggests.
I shake my head. "I've never seen her wear a watch, so I'm going to pass on that."
"Necklace?" Quinn suggests.
"I could get a necklace." I tell her. "Maybe when she feels better we can go walk around the mall and I can get a hint as to what to get her. I quickly finish frosting the cupcakes I then sprinkle lime zest the top and close the box. "You're all set Q." I tell her as I set the boxes in a bag and hand it to her.
"Thanks so much San." Quinn said while hugging me tightly.
"Don't worry about it." I tell her while setting the bowls in the sink, and deciding to do them in the morning. All I want to do right now is snuggle close to Brittany and hold her while I rub her back until she feels better.
Quinn reaches her in purse and hands me a check. "This is for the cupcakes, and the rush order." She smiles.
"I don't charge you for food Q, you know that babe." I tell her.
"I know but today you can." She adds with a nod. "Do you have any extra business cards?"
"Yeah I do. " I run to the living room and grab a handful out of the new box that came in yesterday morning and hand them to her.
"Thanks, I'm super late, Sam is going to freak, good thing I never went to the bowling alley. I'll call you tomorrow." She says as she kisses me on the cheek and rushes out of the door. "Bye cutie!" She says to Chef as she follows her to the door.
I exhale slowly. "Do you need to go out again before bed?" I ask him. He runs to the door, so I grab my coat and his leash and head on out with him. Luckily and thankfully, he quickly uses the bathroom and we come right back in.
I go to the bedroom and head straight to the ensuite and run a nice hot bath for Brittany. I fill the tub will bubbles and go to wake her up when I see her up and staring at me.
"Hey Brit, how are feeling?" I ask her just as she sneezes like 5x. "Bless you."
"Thanks," She says before sniffling.
"How about a nice hot bath?" I ask her.
"Ok." She replies while standing up and joining me in the bathroom. I slowly take her clothes off and help her settle in the tub.
"Are you getting in too?" She asks while sniffing.
"No, I just want to take care of you right now." I tell her softly as I roll up my sleeves and begin to run the warm water over her body. "Sorry, I kind of left you alone back here."
"Don't be." She says before having a small coughing fit. "You're Chef Sanny, you have to bake when summoned." She smiles.
I lean forward and kiss her on the forehead. "Even though you're sick and germy. "I tease playfully. "You are still beautiful, Brit." I whisper out to her before I kiss her on the shoulder. I continue to run the warm towel over her chest as I start to sing.
You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hope for
You're everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can't you see
You're everything I hope for
You're every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
I ignore her germs and kiss her softly on the lips.
"I don't want you to get sick." Brittany says as she breaks the kiss and shakes her head.
"It was closed mouth." I wink at her.
"Whatever you were baking smelled really good." She whispers out.
"I made some strawberry lime stuffed cupcakes for Quinn." I explain to her. "I saved you 2." I add with a wink.
"Thanks." She blushes.
"Let's get you back in bed and pump some more meds in you." I tell her and I hold open a big fluffy towel and wrap her in it when she stands up. I hug her tightly before leading back to bed. I hand her some pajamas and fluff up the pillows on the bed. I then grab some vapor rub and rub it over her chest.
"This stinks." She complains while frowning.
"Yeah, but it will help you breathe better so you can sleep better." I tell her.
"Can we watch a movie?" She asks as I grab her empty mug and pile of tissues to take out of the room.
"Sure, let me make you some more tea, and hop in the shower quick." I tell her.
As I walk to the kitchen, I see Chef is asleep under the couch. I decide to leave him there instead of putting him in his cage for the night. I quickly make Brit some more tea and take it to he, before I hop in the shower myself.
Brittany and I watch 2 movies before we fall asleep somewhere around midnight.
Noon
Chef and I are involved in an intense lesson on how to fetch, in which he is failing miserably when Brittany comes in the living room wrapped in a blanket and lays on the couch.
"Thanks for taking care of me last night." She says with a smile.
"Feeling better?" I ask her as I kiss her on the cheek.
She nods. "Yeah, my throat is still a little raw though." She replies. "But my fever is all gone."
I throw the ball for Chef again and laugh as he quickly gets excited and chases it down the fall. I check Brittany's neck and head for a fever, and she doesn't have one. "I have something for your throat." I tell her as I jump up and get one of the popsicles I made out and bring it to her.
"What's this?" She asks as I hand it to her.
"I made some yogurt smoothie pops last night, to help your throat." I tell her with a smile.
"Thanks!" She exclaims. "These are so good San."
"You like them?" I ask her. "Really?"
"Of course, baby, everything you cook is amazing." She smiles. "Since I'm feeling a little better now, can we finish the tree?" She asks while glancing at the bare tree in the corner.
"I think you still need to rest Brit." I say softly as Chef brings the ball back to me finally.
"It's just putting the decorations on right?" Brittany asks before coughing.
"Yeah, but I want you to lay back down right after, I have to work tonight, and I don't want to worry about you." I tell her.
"Cool, I'll stay right here the whole time you're at work." She nods while patting the couch dramatically.
"Ok." I laugh out as I stand up and grab the box with the ornaments.
Brittany finishes her popsicle and smiles. "That did make my throat feel a little better."
"Told ya." I smile her.
"Can we play the Christmas music again?" Brittany asks as she lifts Lord Tubs in her lap and rubs him.
"Sure." I tell her. "We have to sing while trim the tree right?" I ask her.
She nods happily as I go turn on my ipod to my Christmas playlist. The music starts and Brittany gets up and starts hanging ornaments with me while singing.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree!
Thy leaves are so unchanging
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Thy leaves are so unchanging
Not only green when summer's here,
But also winters cold and drear.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Thy leaves are so unchanging!
I smile shyly at her and wink. I love her so much, even though she is a sick panda right now, she is still so amazing. I stare at her as takes a sip of her juice to stop her coughing. "OK?" I ask her.
She nods and tosses a candy cane at me with a smile as we lock eyes and start signing the next part.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Much pleasure do you bring me!
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Much pleasure do you bring me!
For every year the Christmas tree,
Brings to us all both joy and glee.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
Much pleasure do you bring me!
We finish putting all the ornaments on the tree, so I walk over to her and pull her close and hug her tightly while we dance slowly and sing the rest of the song.
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
You'll never be unchanging!
A symbol of good, will, and love
You'll never be unchanging
Each shining light
Each silver bell
No one alive spreads cheer so well
Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree,
You'll never be unchanging
Once we finish singing, Brittany goes and plugs up the tree turning on all the lights. She sneezes a few times before grabbing a tissue and blowing her nose.
"Bless you baby." I say softly to her as I rub her lower back. "The tree looks amazing." I state.
"Yeah it." She smiles as we stare at our tree with white lights, and pink, purple, and teal ornaments. "We need a star to put on top." She says with a frown.
"We can go look for one this weekend if you're feeling better." I tell her. "Lay down on the couch. I'll warm up some soup for you." I tell her as I head to the kitchen.
I come back 20 minutes later with tea for Brit, hot chocolate for me, and two bowls of soup. We begin to eat when Brittany speaks up. "What do you want for Christmas?"
I shake my head. "Nothing, you already gave me the ipad."
Brittany rolls her eyes. "That wasn't your gift, baby." She states. "Come on Sanny, there has to be something you want."
"I don't care what you give me Brit." I tell her with a shrug. "I'll love anything you give me baby."
Brittany blushes. "So I could give you a stocking full of coal?" She asks me while laughing.
"Yep." I laugh out. "You're the best gift ever Brit." I tell her as I kiss her on the cheek. "All I want for Christmas is you."
"That's a song right?" She asks with a smile.
I laugh. "Yes it is, but it's also the truth."
"Well, what would be your 2nd choice in gifts?" She asks.
"Surprise me." I tell her. "But, I think we should do a spending limit."
Brittany frowns. "For each other?"
"Yeah, I don't want you spending a whole lot of money on me, Brit." I tell her. "You buy me stuff all the time baby."
Brittany nods and eats a spoonful. "I love you San, and I want to buy you nice things."
"Well, I'm sure you can buy me something nice for under say $150?" I suggest.
"$150 limit?" She asks while raising her eyebrow. "So you don't want the helicopter I ordered for you?"
I can't help but laugh but stop when I notice Brittany's face remained serious. "Shit, Brit, tell me you didn't."
Brittany then topples over in laughter before being stopped by a coughing fit. "Got you, no I didn't order you a helicopter." She teases. "The price of a gift doesn't matter Santana, it's the thought that counts."
"I know." I tell her with a nod. "I think we have time to cuddle a little before I need to get dressed for work."
"Can we just lay and listen to more Christmas music?" She asks.
"Sounds like a plan." I tell her. "Let me grab you some more medicine first." I go and grab her some more pills and another Gatorade. I then lean back on the arm of the couch so I'm facing the Christmas tree and open my arms wide for her.
She lays down on my chest and hold me tightly as the Christmas music and the sounds of Chef squeaking his toys add the perfect soundtrack to our cuddle session.
