Dante was not sure how to react to Patty trying to get the old TV working again, he was just enjoying a good nap before she started to get upset with the TV breaking down as he spoke to Morrison driving them on the way, Alexander getting the call and he was excellent in the maintenance. "So, what's the job, Morrison, we hardly ever talk about them when I am usually a mite groggy or tired, I usually call you tight-fisted if I end up wrecking things."

"True enough, Dante. I can be quite the miser." Morrison answered as he got down to it as he drove them to Capulet City. "See, there is this problem going on with a serial killer, the mayor has called you in to take care of the likely suspect, goes by the name of Bradley, and he had been getting close to the mayor's daughter Angelina."

"Oh great, a Romeo and Juliet matter, just my luck." Dante huffed with shifting his feet. "So, the mayor wants Bradley dead, any specific reason?"

"Not quite, but the mayor personally believes that the killings were done by a demon and, fearing for Angelina's safety, suspects Bradley to be the demon in this situation."

"Great... I'll do my best to be civil..."

"That's all I can hope for from you, right now."

The face in the photo was a decent one, black hair with glass on a young man, and how the mayor had seen Bradley restore a flower from its wilting with a green aura made it clear that Bradley did have some powers, there was also the idea that he was connected to the gruesome killings that Dante was mentally sure was the work of something else and he knew, when they were tailing him to a bar, that he had been warned by Angelina.

Dante took up the seat beside him and ordered up a beer while he just kept reading... he didn't make any hostile actions, so it had to be someone else, but in the job, he had to be sure as he asked. "So what's up with that book you're all over on?"

"It's a romance novel, actually." Dante hummed as he continued to get to the beef of things.

"Any good?"

"Very good..." He went off on explaining it out, even spoke of true love being a beautiful thing, something that Dante slightly found amusing, but made no comment against it as he got his beer and the pizza he also ordered was almost done, the two toasting before Dante inquired.

"By the way, you seem like a drifter, where are you from?" Bradley quieted as Dante continued. "Okay, you don't have to answer if you don't want to." He hoped that Bradley would have answered honestly, but considering how heated the mayor got over this issue, it would be no surprise that Bradley would be a bit defensive as he spoke.

"Well, I'm gonna be on my way now." With that, he got up and Dante hummed before turning to the served pizza...

There were olives on it, the sheer monsters...

"Damn it..." He paused with turning to Bradley's departure... there was something else here and it was meeting with him. He rolled up the pizza, ate it and disliking the sheer taste of them, before he followed, his ears listening in as the demon spoke.

"Everyone has been saying that the gate will open tonight."

"Will it now?" The demon chuckled as continued.

"But to leave the living world like this would be such a shame." It chuckled as Bradley spoke.

"So I guess it's you then, who's responsible for that string of murders."

"I'm very fond of the warm and tasty blood of the living ones." Dante had heard enough as he hurled the pizza plate at the demon and hitting as it exclaimed, Bradley also turning to see him. "Who did that!?" Bradley was in surprise as he inquired.

"Did you follow me?" But Dante dismissed it with remarking on his success of eating a large, olives included, in less than five minutes as he spoke.

"Eating a large pizza in five minutes. that's a new personal record for me."

"Don't you mess with me!" The demon struck with phasing its hand through the wall and slamming it into Dante, but he had Ivory out as he mused.

"Oh, that's some handshake you got there." And he unloaded, shredding the hand right off and used a bit of Quicksilver to get past the other hand and blasting the demon as he approached Bradley as he mused.

"You're as strong as I've heard."

"That almost makes it sound like you know all about me."

"I've been in the living world for over a month now. I've heard the rumors about Dante, the devil hunter."

"So I guess I can take that as a confession that you're not human, right?" Bradley didn't delay in answering.

"Yes." Dante aimed Ivory as he spoke.

"Well, then I guess you've got no objections."

"No, when I tell you the truth, I have no intention of running away." His shoulders fell as he spoke, like he was asking a favor instead of pleading for his life. "But there is one thing I would like to ask of you."

"What's that?"

"I heard that you're a half-breed, born from the union of a human and a demon... if that's so, can you tell me... were your parents in love, was there a love between human and demon?"

"Who knows." Dante answered, Bradley admits to being not human, but to ask about Eva and Sparda... that shows something to Dante, that Bradley might think little of himself and that he doesn't believe that he could have such a happy fantasy or life. "You always hear stories about the lovers. They look like they were made for each other, but inside, their hearts are as cold as ice."

"That's not what I-"

"But I think a lot of those couples truly loved each other, deep inside their hearts." Bradley slumped again, with slight relief as he spoke.

"You think so?"

"Was that all you wanted to say?" Bradley steeled himself as he answered as the final word for his own life.

"Yeah." And Dante obliged with pulling the trigger...

Upwards to where that lurker was hiding, drilling it square through the skull and dropping it before he flipped Ivory back in and motioned for Bradley to lead him to someplace else, they stopping at a view of the city as Dante inquired. "I almost thought you're gonna try and pull a surprise attack on me."

"I know I can't defeat you.' Dante remained under the light as he mused on how Bradley didn't choose violence for his life, he chose the life of a lover.

"You're kind of a wimp for being a demon, you know that?" Bradley chuckled as he spoke.

"Even though I'm a demon, there's no way I could vanquish an opponent like you... besides, my role here is finished... I'll be leaving."

'What do you mean by that?"

"Tonight, my master will arrive, he will come from the demon world to enter this plane... I was summoned by a human to prepare the way, I have done this bidding, my job is over now." Dante hummed to another case of 'human worshiping evil' and 'demon seeking to control the human world via portal travel' as he asked.

"And why are you telling me this exactly?"

"Maybe because... I wanted to put an end to all of this. My master is greedy, I'm sure that he will try to devour this entire city..." He started to ramble about locations that he must have taken Angelina to and it broke him as he dropped to his knees and Dante felt that he understood, Bradley had fallen deeply in love with Angelina and felt he had not the power nor the strength to defeat his master. If all his time of cruel treatment had been reversed by the hand and smile of a human, Dante had little doubt that Bradley had a good heart as he assure him that he should live as a human, not a demon.

Now it was the time to get down to brass and take care of the master, and as luck would have it, both were in the same place, Dante hardly about to exclaim the fact that, all this time, it was the butler trying to bring a demon lord into the Human World, they making it in time to get the mayor out and for Dante to take on Belphegor, the wormy demon that it is, sending it back across the gap and heading off as Brad made to heal the mayor... All in all, a job well done, now that the killer has been dealt with and peace can be returned to the city...

"The butler was the one who was trying to destroy the city?"

"Yep, almost got the Mayor in the end, but he fell short in the end, I asked Lady to 'drop on by' for a bit of a chat, you can imagine how that will turn out."

"I can assume a bit." Alexander answered with Patty watching her soaps as the young man spoke with sitting on the desk while Dante was looking over the photos of Bradley and Angelina, smiling and holding a bouquet of flowers. "I take it they remind you of Eva and Sparda?"

"Just exchange the knight with a wimp and the fire starter with a wallflower and, yeah, they remind me of them." Dante smiled as he spoke. "It's good that they are happy, I didn't need to take any money from this job, I didn't kill him so that is a flat line."

"You did end the demon that was responsible for it and given the city their peace back." Alexander pointed out as he faced forward in speaking. "I might drop by to see if I could help strengthen him, maybe give him a better standing so he can actually protect her and the city properly."

"I don't think Trish has accepted that offer from you either, though."

"True, but I am willing to try, Dante." He rested a hand on his shoulder as he spoke. "Why don't you get a bit of rest, you don't look great."

"The olives are coming back."

"Yikes..." Alexander huffed as he left, Patty musing over how happy Dante was about it and paused to see him fall asleep with a smile on his face...
