(RECOMMEND READING THIS) Damn this was long awaited… Sorry guys for taking so much time. I don't believe in excuses, but I will say that I was finishing up with high school and working at the same time, also hitting the gym consistently for a better version of myself. Not to mention, IMA COLLEGE STUDENT NOW! Fun times so far but also very stressful. One thing I will say though is within the time I was gone I gained a lot of self confidence which I believe will honestly translate into better story writing. My biggest problem prior was that I believed I absolutely had to impress you guys and gals (maybe. I doubt the shorties read this.) I forgot the reason I started writing this was for myself and my own enjoyment. Yeah it's selfish. Call me selfish. All I'll say to that is "You're absolutely right. Enjoy the story!" I won't go any deeper into all that, and simply focus on the reintroduction. It's been so long since I wrote that to continue writing this story I deadass had to reread it TWICE for fact checking.
A/N: This chapter is all about character development and the start of the teleportation incident blah blah blah. Another thing is I've decided to change up pairings just a little bit. Not telling you who or how many, just know it was my choice. Not influenced by any of you. You might see any signs within the but chapter but most of them are small. The main reason why I even decided to do this change was because of who's getting teleported with who. Was trying to work it out but honestly. I'm pretty sure I got it on lock now. I've talked enough, let's get into it.
Disclaimer: I own nothing, nothing at all
Chapter 6: All Good Things Must Come To An End
The Boreas Head Family had been traveling with us for about two hours, and I can already say it was really awkward. None of them answered any of our questions, or humored our attempts at small talk. Ghislaine was steering the cart. Inside the cart were Rudy, the head family, and myself. The guards were riding alongside the cart.
"Sooooo…Are you excited to see your little brother and father?" I asked the patriarch of the family as I healed my chest wound. His response was a look of seriousness before he sighed. Once again I didn't get an answer.
Rudy looked very annoyed. Like simply being here was a chore. However sometimes he flashed a few perverted smiles as he eyed the girls within the cart. Needless to say, they didn't like him.
"So what are your names?" I asked the other kids. They gave me a stare filled with hate. I guess I can understand. We did just kidnap their mother, threaten her at swordpoint, and then ask for their father's head. To say we didn't make the best first impression would be an understatement. Even the blessed child Catherine hasn't seemed to fully forgive us yet. Though she definitely didn't hate us as much as the others.
"My twin sister's name is Rosaline. My oldest sister's name is Laura. My oldest brother's name is Arthur. My youngest brother's name is Michael." Catherine informed us with a bored tone.
I nodded and decided to dig a little deeper. Worst case scenario they don't answer. "So. You can teleport. Pretty cool. How long has that been going on?" I asked. I received a long sigh from her. "Since as long as I can remember. So basically birth." Her face looked a bit more interested as she sat up a bit. "How about you? The power you showed us was quite formidable. So much so that I was completely overpowered." The last bit she admitted with a bit of sadness.
"I don't actually know how long I've had it. I would say since birth as well, but my power is strengthened by the sun. I spent the beginning of my life strictly inside, shielded from the sun so I couldn't tell you. It progressively grew to this level of strength and it's still growing as I grow older."
"I see. So what happens when the sun isn't out?" Catherine prodded.
"I can't use that power as simple as that." My answer caused everyone within the cart to glance amongst each other.
"I don't think I need to say this but don't forget I'm still a Sword King even without that power." My tone and words killed any thoughts of escaping. Which left the entire family a bit more than saddened. It even caused the youngest, Michael, to start tearing up.
"Why don't we switch the subject. Miss Mary? What are your measurements?" Rudy questioned nearly drooling. I can't blame him for that one. This woman was very voluptuous, but her kids and husband are in the same cart. A question better asked in private. I sighed before slapping the back of his head as hard as I could without giving him brain damage. Hell maybe the brain damage would help him.
"Ignore him. It makes life a lot easier." I said while crossing my arms and closing my eyes.
"The hell do you mean ignore him? It was a good question." Rudy whined "Admit it Lei, I bet you're just as interested as I am."
I opened one eye and looked at him before reclosing it and saying:
"Rudy, you and I are two sides of the same coin, only I would be heads and you would be tails. I'm heads because I think about things logically all the time, and your tails because you always think with your head between your legs."
This got some chuckles from the family and full blown laughter from Catherine and Ghislaine. Rudy however was not amused.
"How are you gonna say that I'm definitely smarter than you!" Rudy argued before pausing and smirking. "Oh almighty Leighton Greyrat, say whatever you like about me, but at least don't take baths with my mom."
Shit. This is bad.
The whole family stared at me like I was some kind of weirdo. Damn Rudy. He's crafty. Honestly if he wasn't a pervert he would definitely revolutionize this world in whatever way he sees fit. The silence was broken when Catherine started laughing even harder than before.
"Aw the little beast boy still takes baths with his mommy." She taunted, prompting chuckles from her family.
I sighed knowing nothing I said would get me out of this. It's not like it's my choice. It's forced onto me. Not to mention at my age my instincts are screaming at me to be groomed by my mother. Just how it works.
"Well, I am still 8 years old. My mother is super protective and really scary as I'm sure you're all aware. I admitted. This earned the family a trip down memory lane, and for Mary, a flashback of a massacre.
"You're only 8 years old?" Catherine questioned which earned a nod from myself and a wave from Rudy.
"I'm 8 as well." Rudy admitted. To say the family was shocked was an understatement. The only person who wasn't shocked was Mary who had heard Sauros at the party.
"Rosaline, and I just recently turned 10." Catherine stated.
So they're a little older than Eris. Here I thought we were all the same age.
"So Cathy, If I can call you that, how's life been up till now? I feel like knowing your families' background will aid in convincing Phillip. I don't feel like I need to say this but I will." I stared at them completely seriously and ended all joking. "Don't lie." It wasn't just a statement. It was a command. One that promised punishment if they disobeyed.
Catherine shifted her face to discomfort but spoke nonetheless. "Call me what you like. My family calls me different names anyways. As for our background. I don't think I need to inform you that we're rich. We spent tons of time simply living a luxurious life. My mother acts as the average noblewoman, beautiful and proud. My father is a hard worker and an even greater family man. I can't remember a single fight we've had in all my life. Life was good. Until you three showed up."
Marcus joined in. "We lived peacefully. We love each other and look out for one another. I'd die before I let any of you do anything to my family." Mary hugged Marcus and pulled the youngest, Michael closer to her.
I wasn't the greatest lie detector so I looked back at Rudy who was the greatest lie detector I knew and was met with a serious expression. He was staring directly into the soul of the girl. Finally his gaze let up and he shook his head horizontally before returning his gaze to Mary's chest.
"I see, that's good to know. I'm also sure living with the ability to teleport only made life even better. It's a shame you didn't train Cathy. You would be a beast." I explained. "In fact, had you even been advanced in swordsmanship you probably would have actually won."
She nodded before resting her head against her twin's shoulder. It was obvious she didn't want to talk anymore so I decided to leave them be, but not before including one important piece of info.
"It seems like those with bicolored eyes might be like us. Blessed with an ability from birth."
Catherine widened her eyes before finally taking a good look at me and noticing my eyes.
"Green and brown huh? I didn't even notice before." Cathy sighed, closing her eyes again. "I'd like to talk to you more in private at a later time. If you can ensure my father's safety, I'll tell you everything I know about my ability." She added.
I nodded then hopped out of the back of the cart to join Ghislaine at the front, leaving Rudy to watch the family, specifically Mary's assets.

3 days later
We finally approached the town of Roa at around 10 am. During the past 3 days, we would stop in small towns and rest during the night and travel during the day. It was pretty uneventful. When we would rest, the family would break off from us and converse among themselves while Rudy, Ghislaine and I would rest somewhere else. In the whole 3 days we hadn't even shared a single word. They really were a tough crowd. That or they completely hated us.
"FINALLY BACK!" Rudy yelled much to the annoyance of the other passengers who did their best to suppress their anger and nerves.
As we approached the mansion gate, the cart stopped.
"Alright. Get out." Ghislaine ordered. Everyone complied. Although they were hesitant.
We arrived at the gate where some guards of Ariel's faction had been awaiting our arrival.
"Sword King Ghislaine. We have been awaiting your safe return. Lord Phillip and Lord Sauros request your presence immediately." The guard explained. Ghislaine nodded before motioning for us to follow her. Rudy and I were at the back walking behind the family to ensure they did not try to escape. Not that they'd be stupid enough to attempt that, but sometimes you never know.
Once we entered the mansion, I could see that they were all visibly shaking. They were mere minutes from meeting the people that ordered their fathers assasination.
We finally arrived at the door to Lord Sauros' study. Ghislaine wasted no time and knocked.
"Lord Sauros, we have returned with the Head Family."
A few moments went by before we heard a response. "Enter." The voice was powerful and serious. Definitely Sauros. It sent chills down their spines, none more than Marcus himself. It had been years since he heard his father's voice, and he was still just as scared of him as he used to be.
The door opened. Inside the room were Sauros, Phillip, Hilda, Eris, Sylphy, Ariel, Luke, and Derrick.
The look of shock that was plastered onto Sauros' face would have made me laugh if the situation wasn't so intense. Seeing not only his son and daughter in law, but also his grandchildren after so long must have left a lot of emotions inside him.
Phillip on the other hand was enraged. Hilda's eyes glared daggers at Marcus and Mary the moment they walked through the door, however they softened when she recognized her children. Eris looked on with interest and everyone else remained more or less stoic.
"So you have brought this scum back instead of finishing him off." Philip spat. "Very well, I wouldn't mind making the bastard suffer a little."
Fear struck the head family. Mary was moments away from a mental breakdown. Marcus on the other hand looked very calm. He had foreseen this after all.
"Little brother, it has been a while." Marcus greeted with a small smile. Phillip hadn't calmed down even a little. "Yeah it has been, 6 years in fact. The day you took my 2nd son from me."
The head family looked towards their father in confusion.
"What does he mean father?" Laura, the eldest daughter questioned. The man in question looked conflicted, then saddened.
I didn't believe it to be possible but Phillip got even more enraged. "Are you serious!? Did you not even tell them the truth!?" Phillip slammed his hand on his fathers desk before walking up to Marcus and punching him in the face causing him to drop. Seeing this the oldest son, Arthur drew his own fist back, however he was stopped by Sylphy's wind magic. The magic she used was only beginner level so it left him unharmed.
Marcus looked down in sadness and embarrassment as the bruise from the hit formed on his right cheek. He knew he couldn't lie anymore, not if he valued his own life or his credibility to his family.
"I'm sorry brot-" Marcus started
"TELL THEM!" Phillip roared as he delivered a kick to the gut to a downed Marcus. He coughed up some spit and started panting heavily.
Mary covered Michael's eyes and hugged all of her children close.
"If the next words out your mouth aren't the truth, I'll cut off a finger for every word you say." Phillip announced coldly, bringing more chills to the family. Catherine gave me pleading eyes, but I waved her off. Sure it was cruel, but I couldn't save a man who wasn't even willing to admit his own sins.
Marcus stared at the ground for a couple of seconds before looking up to Phillip with tears in his eyes. Phillip simply put his boot on Marcus' face and kicked him backwards.
Once Marcus regained his senses, in front of his eyes was his family looking down at him. Michaels crying, and small sobs from the family could be heard.
Marcus knew he was the one causing this. Even if Phillip was the one beating him, the situation he finds himself in wouldn't have happened if he didn't take Arthur and Michael away. He gave a deep inhale and exhale before speaking.
"...You see, Arthur isn't our child, and we didn't just adopt Michael from a dying relative.." A long silence welcomed itself into the room. All the Head children looked completely shocked. "Both Arthur and Michael are the sons of my brother Phillip and his wife Hilda over there." Catherine gasped and tears streamed down the two boys' faces. This whole time they had been living a lie.
"...why…WHY? WHY HAVE YOU LIED TO US ALL THIS TIME!? The older of the two brothers demanded an answer. All Marcus could do is look at the ground defeated. Michael was now sobbing loudly. His mom and dad are both his uncle and aunt who kidnapped him from his mother and father. That's something that would mess up anyone. It messed me up resisting the urge to yell 'Sweet Home Alabama' at the top of my lungs.
The rest of the head family looked worried and shocked, while everyone else in the room remained indifferent, except for an angry Phillip and Hilda, and a saddened Sylphy.
Suddenly Hilda rose from her seat and walked towards Marcus. The sound of her hard slap echoed across the room.
"YOU TAKE MY BABIES FROM ME AND DON'T EVEN TELL THEM!?" Hilda screamed, trying her hardest not to cry in front of her children. She didn't last long with the act and immediately broke down. Phillip came over to comfort her.
A few minutes went by of complete silence with the exception of Hilda and her 2 sons sobbing before Ariel spoke up.
"So will you have him executed?" Fear struck the torn families faces. Even the two brothers looked concerned. Sure they may have been lied to this whole time, but this man was still their father.
"For the crimes he has committed, of course." Phillip asserted. Cathy was having none of it as she teleported in front of her father. "We had a deal, Leighton, we honored our part, now it's your turn."
Phillip looked taken aback before his rage returned. "If your deal had to do with the fate of my brother, Leighton has no power over what we have decided."
I sighed. This drama really got me stressed the hell out, and now I gotta give a goddamn presentation on the pros and cons of keeping this man alive. I didn't like doing it in school, doing it here didn't make much difference. Not only that, but there was too much on the line. If I failed here, I could forget about getting answers from Cathy.
I walked towards Phillip and stood in front of him before my little rant began.
"Lord Phillip, I ask that you hear me out before making a decision."
"As I said, you have no power here, Leighton." Anger was still present in his voice.
"I believe you should spare the man. After all, he is a father. Killing him would cause even your own children to grow to hate you, not to mention the others-"
I was cut off before I could even continue. "He already stole them from me, groomed them to believe that he was the only father they would ever know, forced my wife to cry herself to sleep countless nights, and left Eris an only child! Not to mention if we hadn't acted now, they would have gone on their entire lives without ever knowing the truth. This man is scum, trash, completely worthless. I view him much like how you view the prime minister, yet you're asking me to forgive him!?" Phillip spat, each word piercing everyone's ears and hearts. Tears started streaming down his face but his stern look never wavered.
I looked down to the ground before sighing and continuing. "You're right, I hate that prime minister with all my heart. I would want nothing more than to shove the cold steel of my blade down his thick gullet, but I have no intention of acting on those feelings until he threatens the lives of the people I hold dear. Until that time, I will not act rashly."
"And that's exactly your problem! You're gonna wait until he does something detrimental, and then it will be too late. Marcus' death is long overdue. I had planned on killing him 13 years back, the day he came for my first son. However I couldn't bring myself to. LOOK HOW THAT TURNED OUT!"
This was starting to look like an unwinnable argument.
I ask that you think wisely about it. If you kill him irrationally, it will come back. Maybe not now, maybe not within 15 years, but it will come back. Set the right example for Eris and her brothers by choosing the peaceful route. Lock the man up if you wish, but don't take his life away. The consequences would be dire. Your own children and the children of your brother would come to hate you. They may even wish for your head. Could you live with that? Killing him is an easy temporary solution for yourself, but in the long term it's detrimental to everyone." I exhaled a long sigh after my plea before turning to Cathy who was smiling slightly at me.
Phillip looked conflicted. I could tell a part of him wanted to have him executed where he stood, but he knew my words were right.
"I must refuse. He has hurt myself and my family for years. The countless tears myself and Hilda have shed will be repaid tenfold with his blood."
That line sounded cool as hell, wait why the hell am I so caught up in his words. This is bad. Really bad.
"Lord Phillip. I need you to understand this. I always considered you a man I can respect. The reason why I respected you wasn't because you were my employer, but because even in the position of power you hold, you are a kind man. I know for a fact you're letting your anger get the best of you. I want you to imagine your brother's death. How will it make you feel? Relief, sadness, happiness, anger? The answer is all of the above and none of them at all. You won't feel anything in the moment but after it's all said and done you'll feel all those emotions. Only after you've felt them will you finally feel regret.
Phillip thought over my words once more. He inhaled and exhaled loudly, trying his best to turn off his emotions and think about this logically. Finally he gave his answer in a way befitting of a master.
"Sword King Leighton Greyrat. I have heard your plea for the fate of Marcus Boreas Greyrat. I do not know what I wish to do with him right now, but I believe maybe taking a few days to decide would be the best call. I will take what you have said today into consideration, but ultimately I wish to hear my family's thoughts on the matter. Their opinions rank above even yours. Guards, take him away!"
Marcus managed a small smile before getting taken away. His wife wanted to go with him but was stopped by a guard.
I bowed to Lord Phillip. "Thank you for hearing my selfish plea for a traitor's life. I will continue to serve to the best of my ability."
This earned a nod from Phillip who walked out of the room followed by Hilda and Sauros.
"Who would have thought the little kitten would have been so bold as to stand up to his employer for the sake of others." Ariel teased her face full of pleasure. Damn this girl really does have problems. Can't even tease someone without falling into her sadistic tendencies.
"Listen Princess, as much as I'd enjoy trashing you in a little roast session, I just ain't got the energy for it." I responded with a yawn. This earned an unsatisfied pout from the princess, and a slight smile from Cathy.
On my way out, I heard Cathy whisper something into my ear. "I want to talk later, you kept your end of the deal, now I'll keep mine."
With that I opened the door and walked out. The main conflict was resolved, there wasn't a reason for me to stay.
I arrived at my room and threw myself on the bed before instantly knocking out.
—-
I awoke a few hours later to the sound of chatter. I quickly sat up and scanned my surroundings. In front of my bed were Luke and Darius who both were completely red in the face. I glared at them. Did they have some sort of weird fetish watching other guys sleep? That is until I looked back down to the bed and saw a very familiar blond lying there. She almost looked like a doll, a bit unreal how beautiful she was.
I shook my head of these thoughts before looking back at the two boys.
"So what's she doing here?" Though it was a question, my tone demanded an answer.
"S-She said she wanted to sleep with you when you came back. " Derrick stuttered. "Guess she's taken a liking to you." Luke shrugged while going over to the wall and leaning on it.
I looked back at the princess before stretching my newly rejuvenated body.
"That's fine I guess, but she's like 10 right?" Luke nodded at my question before closing his eyes.
"So hypothetically speaking, what would you do if I did something to little miss sleeping beauty?" I teased.
"Cut you down then burn your remains before feeding them to a fire dragon." Luke sighed.
Godamn this man wasn't someone to be fucked with. He thought of all that in the matter of seconds, imagining what cruel fate he could think of if it was premeditated.
"I wonder. What would you do to me?" A soft and teasing voice completely broke out my thoughts and thoroughly scared the shit out of me. I looked back to see a smirking princess, although her face was colored a light pink.
Damn her pale face really doesn't betray how she's feeling. Can't hide anything with a canvas like that.
"Keep in mind, I'm 8. Maybe if we were older I would consider doing something but as I am now, I'd have to pass.
"Ara, and pray tell, what do you mean by something?" Her same perverted smile appeared again. Before I could answer she leaned over me, our face millimeters apart. Her eyes were entracing. Even if she was a complete pervert, she was a beautiful one. I tried to look away but she only pulled my head back before planting a soft kiss on my lips and petting my ears.
"And now you're mine. I expect you to take care of me from now on, little kitten."
I could tell my face was red. I had to control my thoughts. She's only 10. I'M 8 IN THIS WORLD. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. Wait. This is all a game. She's been doing this so I could get embarrassed. IT BRINGS HER PLEASURE. NAH FUCK THAT.
I pushed her onto the bed, my hands holding her down much to her and her attendants' surprise. Before whispering in her ears "I won't lose to you, give me your worst." Her face was crimson. The smile she previously had was gone. She turned her head away from me in embarrassment.
HELL YEAH I BEAT HER AT HER OWN GAME. In all honesty she was really just an Akeno wannabe at heart, and if you didn't wanna be wearing the skirt in the relationship, you had to be even more aggressive than her.
Unfortunately I realized what kind of situation I was in. Ariel lying on my bed while I held her down. I slowly got off of her before getting up and walking out the door. I really didn't wanna get murdered by Luke and I already won the battle.
I got up and walked to the door before stopping.
"By the way, you're gonna need more than a kiss on the lips and a head pat to claim me." I said mockingly before leaving.
This only threw Ariel into my embarrassment. As I closed the door, I heard Ariel whisper something from inside the room. Her words brought a sinister smirk to my face.
"Game on."

An hour later
It was about 3 pm now as I walked to the training grounds. No one was present so I decided to get a little sword training in. I honestly don't think I could reach Sword Emperor without intense training even with Sunshine. That just means I have to work hard to get what I want.
I activated Sunshine before drawing my sword. I wanted to test a few things out with my power and my sword. I wonder what would happen if I coated my weapon with my energy. I had assumed with how hot my energy was I would just burn my blade but I decided to try anyway. Unsurprisingly my blade started melting quickly. Now I have to ask Sauros for a new blade. After all it was a gift from my father, I'd rather repair it then get another.
With my sword melted I decided to test the limits of my Cruel Sun. I cast the magic and it appeared in front of me. I wonder what would happen if I touched it. Since I was feeling really risky today I heeded my thoughts and surprisingly, my hand stopped. It felt solid. Oh I have a great idea. A smirk plastered itself on my face.
I increased the size of the ball of heat to about the same as a skateboard before jumping on it. It was a bit wobbly before I got the hang of it. After feeling comfortable I moved the ball higher. In mere moments I was as high as the clouds. "THE EXHILARATION. I'M FLYING." Even if it's not actually flying. It was a lot like being on a RC Helicopter, and having the remote. I was flying under my own power.
As I flew around Roa, I couldn't help but see a weird black orb with what looked like white circles around it. It had a diameter of about 60 inches. I could also sense the same energy Catherine and I leak off within it. However, It felt a lot more like Catherine's energy than my own. My energy felt bright and warm, Catherine's felt static like. The orb had that static feeling, and it was chilly, but surprisingly the darkness it radiated felt bright. Whatever the hell that thing is, it's dangerous. I kinda felt tempted to launch another Cruel Sun at it, but I controlled myself. "Better report this to Sauros."
As I walked through the halls on my way to report my findings to Sauros, I saw Cathy who was with her mother. I hoped to slip by them going unnoticed, but it's kinda hard to do that when you're a living giant radiating badass energy.
"Leighton." Cathy bowed. I waved then came to a halt when I saw Mary's face. She looks distressed.
"What's wrong?" I asked. Cathy looked at her mother then answered, "Aunt Hilda and my mother got into an argument about Arthur and Michael.
I sighed and nodded. It was only a matter of time. Afterall Mary was to blame as well.
"They'll get over it with enough time. I have no doubt they'll forgive. However, knowing Hilda and Phillip, they will never forget.
Cathy nodded and Mary looked down defeated.
"Well I have business to attend to. Try to cheer up. See you both." I waved.

1 day later
I spent the whole rest of my day speaking to Sauros and questioning what the ball could be. It was definitely dangerous, but how dangerous?
Once I finally came out of his office I tried to find Cathy and Mary but they had already fallen asleep. I was bored and wanted to grab something to eat. Was hoping I could cheer them up. Dreams die hard I guess.
As I walked through the hall, I heard sobs coming from one of the guest rooms. I opened the door to see Michael crying into Laura's chest.
"Oh, your name is Leighton right? I'm horrible with names, but I hope we didn't wake you." The oldest daughter greeted me.
"Yeah that's my name. No you didn't wake me. I was just about to head to my room when I heard the cries. He's alright?"
Laura looked down to her brother who was staining her shirt before continuing. "He's about as alright as someone in his position would be."
I nodded, before walking over to the bed.
"May I?" I asked, much to the surprise of the girl.
"You may." She patted the bed beside her and I sat there. I started rubbing the poor kid's head. He reminded me a lot of my younger self in my past life. Father wasn't much of a father, so I would always cling to my mom's shirt and cry into it. She would always soothe me.
We stayed like that for a while until another person entered the room. It was Rosaline.
"He still hasn't stopped yet?" She asked, looking exhausted.
We both shook our heads before going back to comforting him. We stayed like that until he calmed down with Rosaline's aid.
After he calmed down I waved to the sisters, and left, heading straight to bed.
Once I awoke the next day Ghislaine was already out of bed. I showered and got dressed before activating my aura like I usually would do. Once I was ready I walked out of the door only to see Ariel, Luke and Derrick at my door.
"O-Oh, we were just coming to wake you? You are Leighton right? Ariel asked
They all looked completely surprised to see a grown version of myself.. Have I never shown them my true power? Well they haven't been here long.
"Mhm." I quickly answered, causing Ariel to quickly regain her composure and smile.
"Good, would you mind accompanying me while I shop for items? I trust Luke and Derrick but no one will attack us if you're around, especially looking like that." Ariel's face was red. Did she like the grown look?
"Alright, I'll go with you, but I'm only coming because I doubt Luke and the shy boy are strong enough." Ariel lit up while Luke gained a look of annoyance. Derrick was hiding his face.
As we walked down the halls, Rudy just so happened to be coming out of his room at that time.
"Ah, good morning Princess, Luke, Derrick, Brother." Rudy looked completely tired.
"Morning Rudy, long night?" He nodded then yawned. "I was trying to create another King Class magic. I see now that you're leaving me behind in terms of strength and I can't just let that happen. Deadly Waters was a simple and genius idea where you just make a water ball and expand its size before adding rotation to it. Now I'm trying to make something a bit more complex." He finished while seemingly in deep thought.
"What attack are you trying to make?" I was genuinely curious. Rudy was very creative and I couldn't wait to see what he'd come up with. "It's a secret. Just wait and see." He chuckled and I sighed. "Well I'm off to grab Sylphy. I'd rather make this attack with her so she has something else to defend herself with." I nodded and Rudy waved before walking away.
—-
We didn't take a carriage out, as Ariel wanted to enjoy the weather. As we walked the town of Roa, I couldn't help but feel a little on edge. That feeling would quickly leave me whenever Ariel would see something she takes interest in and approach it all excited like.
"Oh look at this hair tie, it's cute don't you boys think?" The excitement Ariel expressed was contagious and brought a small smile to all of our faces. The hair tie was a blue ribbon like material with a gold stone embedded into it.
"Yes, I do believe it is quite beautiful." Luke chimed in. Derrick agreed with a nod.
They all looked at me expectantly but seemed to drop it when they saw I was looking at a dark alley on the street we were on.
"What's wrong? Are we being followed?" Luke asked with a tone that immediately shifted to seriousness and professionalism.
"Without a doubt… I don't know what they want, but they definitely aren't friendly."
My words caused Luke to tense up even more and drew a fearful look from Derrick and Ariel.
"Do you know who they could be?" I had my thoughts but it couldn't hurt to get some input from someone who I considered to have more experience than me.
"Definitely those under Darius. His threats were clear during the party. I'm surprised it took him this long to act." Luke explained while continuing our walk.
"I see, then act naturally. We'll lead them to a more secluded location and lure them out." My voice betrayed no emotion. A look of fear and concern met all three of their faces.
"W-why do you want to confront them? If they were sent by P-Prime Minister D-Darius they must be stronger than us!" Derrick stammered out, much to my annoyance.
"I must agree with Derrick. Darius can be called a lot of bad names, but stupid is not one of them. He's definitely hired people who can take care of us and maybe even you." Luke added with an authoritative voice.
Ariel looked conflicted but eventually decided to speak up.
"I trust Luke's judgment. Maybe it would be best if we returned to the mansion."
I stopped walking and looked at all three of them before sighing "You must have forgotten who I am exactly. There is not a single soul in this world who holds a candle to me. The only ones who come close are my brother and mother, and they're still very far from yours truly." I explained, my pride overtaking all logic.
Ariel shook her head obviously annoyed by my antics before grabbing my hand. Three stages came next. First confusion. Why the hell is she holding my hand? What the hell brought this about. Didn't know princesses need bodyguards to hold their hands everywhere they go. Next Realization. WAIT! Is this another attempt of hers to get me to break her back? Personally I'm not gonna take that. Finally Acceptance. Can't hurt to see where this leads. If it gets too out of hand I'll just book it. Not like she can catch up to me. My virgin brain had completely forgotten the danger we were in.
I nodded my head assuredly. My actions confused our little group but Ariel broke the silence. Her voice was stern.
"Listen. We are leaving. I'm not losing any of you because you feel you can take on an unknown opponent. All in the name of protecting me. Although…" Her face tinted a hint of pink "The gesture is appreciated."
Luke frowned before shaking his head in disapproval.
"You heard the princess. Let's shake them. We will only engage in combat if absolutely necessary." Derrick nodded at Luke's words before grabbing Ariel's hand out of mine.
"S-Stay by me p-princess. I'll g-get you b-b-back safe." His face was completely red.
"Smooth." I said sarcastically. I had no idea the man had a little crush on the princess, I mean why would I. He's an adult and she's a kid. We got a word for guys like him back in my world and an even worse place. Not that I'm really one to talk.
We ran back to the mansion, all the while I could sense them maintaining a close yet safe distance from us. They knew we knew, so why don't they attack us now. It made no sense. Why wait for us to return to the mansion where we have 2 magical geniuses and another sword king.
"You're thinking the same thing as me?" Luke questioned.
"Yea. It's not making sense. Why not attack us?"
Luke looked towards the ground, deep in thought as we continued our sprint. I noticed Ariel started slowing down. She couldn't keep pace with us and the only reason she was even near us was because Derrick was pulling her forward. I dropped my pace back to them and grabbed Ariel in a princess carry not trying to waste any time before speeding back up to the front.
Ariel was stunned but remained silent, while Derrick looked deflated. Luke didn't care.
We finally arrived at the mansion gates only to see a group of about 20 swordsmen and 10 mages at the gate, and the whole mansion on fire. I was scratching my head. How did this happen? I have no doubt that everyones okay, but how have they not been stopped yet? I could sense Catherine on the other side of the mansion, however I could not locate anyone else. The smoke was blocking my sight and smell.
I was going to have to conduct a thorough interrogation to figure out how they got in.
Once we arrived the people chasing had also revealed themselves. There were 2 women and 3 men all wearing black. The men all held swords while one of the women held a staff and a book and the other held two daggers.
"Adventurers." Luke whispered loud enough for us to hear.
Our attention was turned back to the gates when someone started to speak.
"A male beastman… Could you be Sword King Leighton?" A woman with black hair and black eyes and full platinum armor questioned. I'd call her beautiful if she didn't have a maniacal smile that just screamed psychopath. Surprisingly when the others caught sight of her their faces turned to pure fear.
"Who's asking."
"Oh I thought you'd know who I am. My hair and eyes are very distinct afterall. I am the sword saint Rize Ascalon and vice-captain of the Asura Royal Knights. I was actually sent here to capture my beloved princess and return her home where she belongs."
I could see the chills run down Ariel's spine. Something tells me all this Rize wants to capture is Ariel's head.
"Careful Leighton, She's a Sword Saint that fights with dirty tactics. Not to mention all 30 members within the royal guard are at least Advanced in rank, and both the captains are ranked at king class." Luke warned sweat dripping off his face.
"So a Sword King, a King class mage, a Sword saint, and 18 other swordsmen and 9 other mages of varying ranks? Not to mention the unknown adventurers." Luke nodded his head hesitantly. Yeah this wasn't going to be easy at all. Considering the whole damn mansion is on fire, I'd say that King class mage is a fire mage as well. Which kinda means we're fucked. Becoming a fire saint is something extremely hard to do on its own but a king class? Hell Rudy is only intermediate in fire, while i'm a beginner. I do not count my cruel sun as fire. That's an insult.
All that being said, the gap between a saint and a king is quite vast. The real problem comes with the numbers they have.
"Gotta say, you're quite the cute one. If you weren't an enemy I would totally claim you as my own. That is how your species likes it right? To be dominated by a master?" Rize taunted readying her blade for combat. Her subordinates did the same.
My face twisted in disgust. It's not that she was ugly, by all means she was a very beautiful woman, but she seemed twisted. Also my species…dominated? Nah that shit ain't gonna fly around here. That was a shot at my entire race, and you better believe on everything she just became my biggest opp. "Listen. Leave now or you're gonna die here for what you've done and for your intentions. If you wanna clash swords so bad I'm all in, but know this. This fight will be your last. My face had shifted from one of arrogance and slight discomfort to slight anger. If you looked close enough, you could see the sun's blaze in my eyes.
"Then come face me beast!" Her act was strong but it was just that, an act. She was scared shitless. Even the others who knew I was on their side looked terrified. You could thank my aura for that.
Talking came to a halt when she rushed me directly. Which took me a bit off guard. I'm obviously stronger than her, so why rush me so stupidly. My question was quickly answered when I saw 3 mages in the corner of my eye preparing attacks. Earth spear at my left, and water ball and fireball at my right. Shit they had me right where they wanted me.
Just in the knick of time Derrick fired an earth bullet at the Earth spear which didn't neutralize it but weakened it to the point where getting hit by it would barely affect me. I dodged to the right taking a hit from the fractured earth spear while dodging the other two mages attacks, now all that was left was the psycho knight bull rushing me.
"Luke! Deal with the adventurers. Derrick, back him up and keep the princess safe!" I ordered before continuing my fight.
When she reached me she attempted an overhead slash which I quickly unsheathed my sword and parried before launching my own sideways slash aimed right for her neck. Though right when I felt my sword touch flesh I was stopped. Another one of the knights had blocked the attack. How did he get there? Not the time for questions. I quickly shifted my feet and with a 360 rotation I cut the arm of the intervening knight clean off at the elbow. It was so fast he didn't even know what happened.
The slicing through bone felt…
Weird.
Much like cutting through goblins bones. Yet completely different.
What followed were screams of pain which were quickly muffled as Rize knocked him out with the butt of her sword. This action only helped to piss me off more, that was until she spoke
"I didn't need help, you idiot." Her voice was soft and hurt. It didn't take a genius to know she was sorry.
Seems the world isn't as black and white as I thought it was.
I looked over to Luke who had already cut down the two girls, being the healer and the thief, however he was getting hammered by the 3 knights that remained. I raised my hand up to the sky and began gathering the clouds.
"Luke, Ariel, Derrick. Behind me now!" Luke, who was in the middle of blocking an attack, couldn't retreat, however an earth bullet from Derrick freed him, and they all came running behind me. Once I saw they were safe I released my mana and brought down the rains from the clouds I gathered
"Cumulonimbus."
The rains fell hard onto the adventurers and the royal guard. I also dropped rain albeit more softly onto the mansion to put out the fires.
Fog had formed, and for a moment we believed the battle was over.
The fight was quickly resumed when I heard the battle cry of the remaining knights. This wasn't good. I need to wrap this up quickly. I haven't seen any sign of the two captains. The Sword King and the King Class Mage. They were without a doubt fighting Rudy and the others while I was stuck trying to deal with weaklings. It made me angry. No, that word does not properly acknowledge my feelings. I was absolutely LIVID.
My blood started to boil, and so did the mana that was manifesting in my hand. I didn't care how many people I had to kill. I had long since made up my mind. I'm going to protect the people I care about even if it means killing others! They chose their side, and now I will defend mine!
The mana quickly shifted into a ball much like a cruel sun, only it was different. It was bubbling uncontrollably. The ball perfectly fits my mood right now. That mood being
Explosive.
The ball launched forward, Rize ducking at the last second. It was as big as a car, and thoroughly mowed down about half the knights and a few mages. Once it made it to around the middle of the group I clenched my fist.
"EXPLOSIVE SUN!" The ball expanded bubbling more fiercely than ever before popping. An explosion ensued. One large enough to completely tear down the gate to the mansion and leave the affected area burning with golden reddish flames. Ones that seemed to burn just as brightly as the sun itself.
Every single one of the soldiers' bodies lay on the ground lifeless and burning. The only exceptions being Rize and the armless knight. Even with them out of the way my anger didn't fade. I looked down at black haired knight menacingly raising my blade. I stopped halfway once I looked into her eyes. What was once filled with arrogance and maniacal pleasure was now filled with complete shock and sorrow. I won this fight completely. My eyes then scanned back to the graveyard I had created. My hands began to tremble. Though I quickly steeled myself. I did what I had to do to ensure survival. Right now I had to go help Rudy, Sylphy and Ghislaine.
Stepping past the hopeless Rize and the seemingly lifeless body of the knight, I walked slowly towards the three who stared at me in a mix of horror, sadness, and amazement.
"Let's go." Those were the only words I needed to say to get them to follow me.
We ran through the rubble of the gate and around the outskirts of the mansion. I had one destination.
Catherine.
When I found Catherine, I found Rudy, when I found Rudy, I found the captains. Simple logic.
I turned a corner and my heart grew relieved. Not only was everyone safe, but it seems that Rudy, and Sylphy had taken out the mage. Leaving the knight to Ghislaine. Who also seemed to have the upper hand.
I bolted over to Rudy and Sylphy and embraced them as hard as I could without breaking bones. Rudy was surprised but was happy to see me all good. Sylphy was blushing profusely. Not that I cared she was alright and that's all that mattered.
"Calm down Lei, you know we're strong right? You think we'd lose to some fire king?"
"It's because he's a Fire King that I worry for your safety Rudy."
Rudy looked at me like I was an idiot. Even Sylphy looked at me like I had two heads.
"Lei, did someone hit your head?" Rudy asked. I don't get it. Why the hell are they treating me like stu-
"Leighton we're Water Kings." Sylphy explained.
My brain stopped working after the realization. I was so worried about them because Fire Kings are so rare, I had completely forgotten the elemental cycle. Water always beats fire. Now take two times the water and one fire, and you got yourself a recipe for a complete extinguisher.
"Lei I'm honestly surprised people call you smarter than me. Cause I've known since we were born that I'm smarter." Rudy bragged. I had to agree. I always thought of him as the smarter brother, and if he wasn't so damn perverted he would actually be a superior human being.
The sounds of swords clashing quickly redirected my attention. Ghislaine was still fighting her opponent, a gray haired man with a beard. He didn't seem old, just had gray hair. Life must be stressful I guess.
Ariel's faction stood there completely unharmed watching Ghislaine fight. My guess is, they didn't get a chance to join in.
A few moments after catching sight of the battle, Cathy came running with her siblings, mother and father. Seeing that the battle was near over I released my Sunshine.
"Yo." I greeted with a shit eating grin. Rudy chuckled and Sylphy bowed her head in apology for our antics. Cathy however was neither amused, nor in the forgiving mood. She teleported right in front of me before making me feel pain beyond anything I have ever felt. She kicked me right where the sun doesn't shine, and where the kids grow. I doubled over in pain. Rudy's laughter only increased.
"Didn't you know to never let your guard down?" Rudy taunted. His laughter came to an abrupt halt. All it took was one look from the devil Cathy herself.
"You left us in the mansion and didn't even warn us of the attack. Not to mention, the guards defending my fathers cell wouldn't even let him evacuate while the place was burning down. If I hadn't forcefully taken the key…My father." Cathy explained tears rolling down her face.
I know this was a heartfelt moment, and I would feel really bad, if not for the crazy amount of pain I was going through. Seriously. I would rather get stabbed straight through the shoulder than withstand another second of this ball shattering pain. Casting healing magic on myself I regained my composure.
"I'm sorry we couldn't do anything to aid you Cathy. I for one was busy with the princess. That's obviously no excuse. I should have recognized that the King would act rashly as well. I sincerely apologize." I finished with a bow of my head. It took a minute but the sentiment seemed to lighten Cathy's mood a bit.
"Just make sure something like this never happens again.'' She said, looking away. It was quick, but I could swear I saw a small blush appear on her face.
"Ara, didn't think my little kitten was building relations." Ariel teased. I looked at her giving an annoyed look but didn't respond. My thoughts are if I don't acknowledge her she won't tease me anymore. It seemed to work because her attention turned back to Ghislaine who was finally finished with her fight.
Sword pointed at the man's throat, Ghislaine had completely won. Though not unharmed. She had a deep cut in her left arm which was serious, but not life threatening.
"Surrender asshole." She demanded with lost patience.
All of us stood there confused. She didn't just kill him? My mother is the kind of person to act and ask questions later so why was she holding back now.
"Captain Raylon!" A feminine voice called from the side of the house.
All of us turned to see Rize standing there, carrying the injured armless knight. Once she saw us and her defeated captain, pure fear consumed her face.
"N-No. How w-were we defeated so easily?" She fell to her knees, dragging down the armless soldier with her.
Ghislaine never once looked away from the downed sword king. "I said surrender." She demanded.
The man's eyes were glued to Rize. He remained silent and unmoving until Ghislaine pushed her sword up against his neck drawing blood.
"Last chance." She said coldly.
"WE SURRENDER!" Rize shouted tears streaming down her face.
"Please! I'm begging you! Don't kill him!" She pleaded.
I walked over to my mother, placing a hand on her shoulder. She didn't need to look at me to know what I wanted. She sheathed her blade and slammed the Knight Captain onto the ground. Sword King Raylon, you and your surviving subordinates will now become property of the Boreas Family.
Rize let out more tears. Whether they were of sadness, or relief I didn't know. All I knew for sure is that it was over… for now.
The members of Ariel's faction along with the knights of the Boreas Family both restrained and blindfolded the Captain and Vice Captain, while Sylphy healed and restrained the soldier I crippled.
In the end they were all taken away. Their fates would be decided in due time.
A few minutes later, Ghislaine, Sylphy, Cathy and myself walked the perimeter of the mansion, noting any damages to the building that needed repair.
"I can't believe the King would send soldiers after us." Sylphy voiced her shock.
"I don't see what's so surprising about it." Cathy shrugged. "Based on what I've been able to assume, you align yourself with a princess and her faction who wants the throne after declaring your own strength to not only the nobles, but also the prime minister and king. Not to mention, you attacked our home. The head of one of the most prominent noble families in the entire kingdom. It was only a matter of time until our family's guards reported our kidnapping."
Ghislaine looked unbothered, as did I. We had fully expected to be confronted, but we had thought the king would amass an army that would be guaranteed to take us down. Instead he threw in quantity over quality and ended up with an utter defeat with no casualties on our side and barely any injuries.
"Hell I'm surprised the king didn't order you all to be executed the second my grandfather announced you all." Cathy added.
I stopped walking. My facial expression shifted from unbothered to serious in a heartbeat.
"Think. The King and prime minister are usually heavily guarded especially at noble events, however being heavily guarded in their minds is having a group of advanced swordsmen, and maybe a few sword saints at best. After hearing Sauros' threat I have no doubt the king wanted nothing more than to yell "INSOLENCE" and call for our execution."
Ghislaine withholding her unbothered look decided to finish my statement. "The fact is if he called for our execution, he would be inviting his own execution. Not only his but the execution of all the nobles in attendance. My guess is Lord Sauros is ready for war and was completely willing to have the king killed in that moment had he acted out of line. With the King dead, the next phase would be to execute as many nobles in attendance as possible."
I nodded, although it did leave a sore taste in my mouth. I seriously shouldn't be involved in such affairs being this young, but I guess even my mother can tell that mentally I'm mature enough to handle all of this.
Cathy sported a look of horror. "So…you would've killed everyone…even my m-mother?"
Sylphy who had been taking all of this news unsurprisingly badly looked towards me in hopes that all of what I've been saying has been a lie. I looked back at her with a saddened expression.
I hadn't thought about it much, but Sylphy unlike Rudy, and Myself is just a normal kid. Even if she is a King Class Water Mage, she doesn't have any past life experience or maturity to go on. I really thought it was rough for me, but imagine how she must be feeling about all of this.
"ANSWER ME!" Cathy cried tears raging down her face.
"No. We wouldn't have killed your mother. Not unless we had to. We had no use for her, but there was also no reason to execute her either." I answered honestly.
Relief lit up Catherine's face, however she was still crying.
"Sylphy, think you could take her back?" I asked to which Sylphy hesitantly nodded, still processing what had been said.
As they started to walk away I called out once more.
"Sylphy!"
She turned around as quickly as she was called.
"Yeah Lei?" her voice was soft and tired
"Take it easy. You need a break. I know you're trying your hardest, but you're still so innocent. I don't want that to change." I pleaded.
She remained silent, seemingly in deep thought.
"I consider you my sister in all but blood, Sylphiette. I want you to be happy and safe. Maybe take up normal bodyguard duties in the house, but stay away from all this war business. If you won't do it for myself, do it for my mother, or Eris, or your parents, or Rudy. Stay safe Sylphy."
I bowed as a small stream of tears fell down my face. Until I felt a hand on my cheek.
"Thank you Lei." Sylphy whispered before hugging me tightly. We stayed like that for a few moments before she broke the hug and guided Cathy back into the mansion.
"You should take your own advice, kid." My mother advised me.
I didn't say a word and kept walking with her. Her suggestion was sound and I planned on listening to it. With the King stupidly sending out a King Class swordsman and mage, he most likely halved his own might. It would take a while before they could even start planning the next attack. Afterall my mother being in the top 10 swordsmen and myself being stronger than my mother, there aren't many that could defeat us, and of those who could, they wouldn't stoop themselves as low as to serve a tyrant king.
Either way, I had a lot to think about.

1 day later
The next day I decided to sleep in, not even budging for daily bodyguard activities. After all, why should I? I more than served my duty after yesterday. I'm sure Rudy and Sylphy had the same logic which would leave only mother working. Even though she deserved a break, she's a hardass so not much I could do about it.
A knock at the door broke me out of my thoughts.
"Give me a second." I said while putting on some pants and fixing my bed head.
"It's open."
The door swung open and surprisingly it was Eris. I had expected Eris to be hanging out with Rudy all day.
"Leighton. Can I talk to you for a bit." Eris said, her hair shadowing her face.
"Sure thing Eris. What do you need?" I asked while putting on my casual shirts.
"I hate this." Eris whispered. She definitely wasn't acting like herself. She looked all gloomy unlike her usual arrogant persona.
"Hate what?"
"Everything."
"Think you could be more specific Eris?"
"I SAID EVERYTHING!"
"I still don't get what that means."
"You're such an idiot, I don't know why I came to talk to you!" Eris declared before dashing out of the room and slamming the door.
I didn't know what to do. A new problem that only contributed to my headache. I decided I'd get up and see what was going on around the house.

As I walked through the halls I waved at a few maids who I've actually become familiar with. There is one with silver hair, bunny ears, and blue eyes. Her name is Maya. One with blonde hair, dog ears, and brown eyes. Her name is Olivia. Finally a pink haired girl with cat ears, and pink eyes. Her name is Louise. They more or less became my friends when I would help in the kitchen with my mother during the night.
"Hello Master Leighton." The three of them greeted with a bow.
"Morning girls." I stopped and greeted them.
"Did you rest well?" Louise asked
"Not really, I've had a lot on my mind recently. I hope you all rested well though."
"I'm sorry to hear that. All the maids slept peacefully last night thanks to you." Louise answered with a blush.
I stared out of the window. Below in the courtyard I could see Eris speaking with the head family, as well as her two brothers.
"I'm sorry, just remembered I have to take care of something." I waved and ran by the maids leaving them puzzled.

Courtyard
Once I arrived, I could hear Eris shouting at the top of her lungs.
"YOU WERE ALL BRAINWASHED, HE'S NOT A GOOD MAN!"
"Think what you will about him, but he is still my father." Cathy shot back.
"How would you feel if my father kidnapped your siblings at their birth and never allowed you to see them!?" Eris questioned.
This left Cathy speechless. I finally arrived at their spot in the courtyard and put my hand on Eris' shoulder.
"If you're mad, make use of that energy and improve. Spar with her. I think it would be good for you, for all of you." I said looking over the entire family. They all looked sad and confused. Whatever Eris said must have really got them thinking.
"If you're mad at everything, change what you can, and get stronger to change what you cannot." I whispered into Eris' ear before walking away.
I didn't need to hang around to see the rest. I knew in the end they would work it out. Cathy and Eris were in many ways alike, however Cathy wasn't nearly as prideful, maybe just a tad overconfident. Whether they sparred or not nothing would change immediately, but in the long term they could end up being as close as Rudy and I.

2 months later
A lot has happened in the past two months. So much that I wish to forget a lot of it. The captain and vice captain that attacked us have refused to say anything involving the King's attack, however we have learned something from them. They were forced to attack us. My guess is the king has hostages but Rize and Raylon have not confirmed or denied these claims. The plan is to keep them in cuffs until they talk.
No new attacks on the mansion have been made. Even though we don't expect one we are more than prepared. The head families' knights have even joined us and were happily reunited with their masters.
As for Marcus, Phillip decided to let him live, however he is far from forgiven and I'm sure it might take the rest of their lives to make it up to him and Hilda.
Mary and her children are peacefully living with us now. Any previous fear they had of us has more or less vanished. We are all allies now and we treat each other as such. It didn't take much for that to happen, simply sparing Marcus' life was enough. The youngest and I, Michael had become more or less playmates when I had free time which wasn't very often but I liked to make it count. He became like a little brother to me and I became an older brother to him.
Cathy still hasn't told me anything, however she said she would in time. Until then she wanted to train with all of us. Finally taking me up on my advice and training with a sword. That was a month ago. She is still a beginner, and when it comes to spars we ask her not to use her ability. That way she can train without using it as a crutch.
Rudy and Sylphy seem to have made a new king class magic. I say seem because I haven't seen it yet. They refuse to show me. Rudy doesn't want me seeing it and being able to counter it like Deadly Waters, and Sylphy is just following Rudy's lead.
Eris has finally become advanced in sword god style and is on the way to becoming a true threat in the future. Also it seems her new favorite activity is destroying Cathy in sparring. In reality if they actually fought Cathy would win no diff.
Ariel… She's been herself. Sneaking into my bed. Teasing me whenever she can. Not much has changed with her. However it seems she's taking magic lessons with Rudy. Something about not wanting to be the defenseless princess that has to be rescued. I have no problems with it, after all she gets taken out of my hair for a few hours a day.
Even Luke has joined us in sparring. He was around late intermediate rank when we first started but thanks to the training with people stronger than him with the exception of Cathy he's become advanced. He's also been flirting a lot with the beast women and has an eye for Louise. Probably because she keeps rejecting him.
As for myself? Nothing has changed much. I've grown out my hair again and it's around upper back length so I can use the hair tie I got from Lilia. I also got a little more comfortable with my Sunshine abilities, like sky surfing, and the different sun attacks I've created but that's about it.
"Leighton get out of your thoughts and help me!" Catherine shouted while being pinned down by a laughing Eris.
All the bodyguards, along with Rudy, Eris, Luke and Catherine were outside in the courtyard.
I facepalmed before walking over and kicking Eris in the side. Soft enough to not seriously hurt her, but strong enough to send her flying and coughing up spit.
"I…W-was…Joking." Eris gasped out.
"Could have fooled me." I sighed before taking a seat besides Sylphy who was reading a book on healing magic.
"Are you trying to reach saint level healing?" I was surprised at her diligence.
"Yea, but I can't really make sense of the theory behind Saint level healing." she answered, scratching her head in confusion.
"I'm sure you'll get it, Sylphy. I mean after all you're doing better than us when it comes to that stuff." Rudy voiced his thoughts.
Sylphy smiled and hid her face in the book, but her rosy cheeks didn't go unnoticed by anyone, not even Eris who was still gasping for air.
"So who's next?" Ghislaine questioned.
"I'll go, ain't been improving much recently. How about it Mama Kitty? Trying to go a round?"
Ghislaine chuckled before throwing me a wooden sword.
"Remember kid, no Sunshine. Not even a little." She demanded.
"Right, right. I won't use it, pinky promise."
Rudy stopped peeking over Sylphy's shoulder and locked his eyes onto the fight.
"Catherine, Luke, Eris." Rudy called. The three of them looked towards Rudy.
"Watch this fight. Study this fight. Learn how the Sword Kings fight, so you may one day fight like Sword Kings." Rudy's eyes were glued to our forms, unmoving, waiting for a signal.
"BEGIN!" Rudy called out.
With that one word, both myself and Ghislaine charged each other. She started with a horizontal slash, which was too fast for me to dodge. I barely managed to block in time, but it was followed up by a spin kick which made contact to my chest and sent me flying backwards. I quickly composed myself and did a backflip, placing my hand and feet on the ground to stop myself from sliding, by the time I looked up she was gone. The hair on the back of my tail rose, and I acted out of pure reflex. I blocked backwards, just barely managing to stop the attack from smashing my head in.
"What's wrong kid? I thought you were stronger than this." She asked as she kicked at me again to which I dodged backwards.
God she's improved a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if she was close to reaching sword emperor with this speed and power behind it.
"Just getting warm mother!" I charged her this time moving even faster than before hoping to end it all with a quick vertical slash. Ghislaine managed to crouch down on all fours in the knick of time and sprung herself around me in a circle. She was slowly getting closer, yet remained out of my sword's reach. This was her signature move, and the reason she was feared by many. Her movements were sporadic and indecipherable. I firmly grasped my sword's hilt. The only way to counter this attack would be to parry, or deflect her attack. Blocking was a death trap.
She finally made her move and sprang right in front of me, something I least expected. My sword made contact with hers, I tried using her leverage to move it, however I failed. In the end I only blocked the attack. Ghislaine smirked at this before spinning again to increase her leverage and slashing her blade clean through mine and smashing me in the head.
"Arghh!" Blood dripped down from my forehead. The sheer force of the blow sent vibrations through my head. I'd be lucky if this was just a concussion.
"Lei!" Rudy was the first to run to my side. He instantly tried using his healing magic, which soothed pain, but it didn't completely heal me. Eris, Cathy and Sylphy also ran over to comfort me.
"Lei, you're bleeding a lot!" Eris exclaimed.
"Damn I know that hurt." Luke winced. Catherine slapped Luke on the back of the head and glared at him hard.
"Leighton you're gonna be alright." Cathy said, trying to soothe me.
Everyone watched on in horror as more blood started to pour out of my head. Sylphy also started healing my head and inspecting my injury.
"Lady Ghislaine, you might have fractured his skull." Sylphy announced after assessing the damage to my head.
Ghislaine looked conflicted. She gave it her all and ended up hurting her son, however she would not have won unless she gave it her all. She didn't know how to feel.
"Kitten, I'm so-" She started.
"Don't apologize." I cut her off. "If you held back against me I would have felt a lot worse. We both gave it our all and you came out on top. These things happen, nothing to worry abo-" Darkness slowly consumed me and then nothing.

1 month later
My eyes slowly opened, at first I thought I had gone blind because I couldn't see anything, however as I went to rub my eyes, I could see the outline of my hand.
"Damn how long was I out." I groaned before slowly getting off the bed. My body felt weak. Weaker than it's ever felt. True it was night time, but It was different. I felt like I had just finished eating 2 boxes of pizza and guzzled down 3 2L sodas. Needless to say I rushed to the bathroom as quickly as I could and emptied my stomach.
Once I was finished I walked through the halls. It was usually quiet. I walked down the stairs and to the courtyard and saw no one. I returned back inside and walked the entire mansion, and didn't see or hear anyone.
"Where the fuck did they go?" My voice was filled with frustration. I mean who wouldn't be frustrated in this situation? You wake up after god knows how long only to see no one you know and love around you. I feel like Rick Grimes waking up to the apocalypse, let's pray that's not my reality though.
As I walked back to my room, I heard faint voices. They seemed to be coming from Sauros' study. I walked up to the door and decided to eavesdrop before going in.
"It worries me. Leighton came to me and alerted me about it. When he first showed it to me, it was just a small ball, something you could barely see, but it has grown into something much larger. It is cause for concern." Sauros announced.
"Yea, and I feel a strange energy radiating off of it. It seems the energy is similar to Leighton's sunshine, and my teleportation." Cathy added.
"As of right now there isn't really much we can do. We don't know what will happen if we try to destroy it, however leaving it be, might end up being more problematic in the long run." Rudy gave his thoughts.
"There's no point in deciding what we should do with something we cannot control." Ghislaine answered lazily.
"Father. I know you're worried, but there isn't really much that can be done. However if you decide on something we will be more than willing to have it done." Phillip yawned.
"Something's wrong I can tell." Marcus shivered. "I want out. Let me and my family go. We want nothing to do with any of this."
"You forget your place!" Phillip roared.
I heard heavy footsteps within the room, now was as good a time as any, before things got violent.
I slowly opened the door only to see surprised looks from everyone inside.
Before anyone could say anything Ghislaine blitzed me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry, kitten. I hurt my baby boy. I hurt you, but I'm so glad to see you're okay again. I thought…" Ghislaine broke into tears. This was only the second time I had seen my mother cry tears of sadness. The first time being when she left me with Paul and Zenith.
Nobody in the room said anything and simply let us have our moment for a couple of minutes. It was all so heartwarming until a certain pervert just had to butt in.
"Lei! You missed so much while you were out. Cathy and Eris were talki-" Rudy started before being met by a fist from a teleporting Catherine and a kick to the throat from an annoyed Eris.
"Rudy we've been over this." Cathy started with a smile straight out of a horror movie. "I told you, if you even tried to tell him I would rip out your throat and feed it to that sphere of energy. Must I keep my promise?" I swear her eyes were shadowed by nothing which only made her smile creepier.
"Damn… What the hell were you both talking about to make you feel like you had to keep it a secret from me?" I asked with a small smile hoping to calm down the enraged teleporting she-devil that stood before me. Mission failed.
"Leighton, If that was any of your business, wouldn't I tell you?" She asked, her dark smile never fading.
"Point is you don't need to know." Eris chimed in.
"Leighton." Everyone looked at the man who had called me. It was Sauros.
"Yes my lord?"
"I wish to know your opinion on that black sphere."
"Hmmm. I mean apparently I haven't seen it in a while. Last time I saw it, it was a bit small. How long was I out for?"
"A little over a month." Rudy coughed out.
"I see." I answered to the surprise of everyone. They were surprised that I took the news so well.
"I've been feeling sluggish ever since I woke up. I knew I must've been asleep for a while. Honestly I thought it was longer." I shrugged.
"Come here and take a look out of the window. Even in the darkness you should still be able to see it." Sauros ordered.
I nodded before walking over and stopping at the window. To my surprise the ball had grown from 60 inches in diameter to probably around 100. It was really high up so it was still pretty hard to see it, but I'm sure during the day it was easily noticeable.
"You're right. This is definitely a problem."
"What do you suppose we do?" Sauros queried.
"The ball is powerful. I have not the slightest idea of what it is, but what I can say for sure is that it's energy resembles Catherine and my own energies. Confusingly enough the ball is near a carbon copy of the energy I would sense for Catherine, however it's a bit different. A little sinister, and definitely stronger."
"Do you have a fix to the problem or not Leighton?" Sauros asked once more, losing his patience.
"No. I guess we could offer Catherine as a sacrifice to the sphere gods, but that's just about the only idea I have."
My joke received mixed reviews. Frowns from the head family, laughs and chuckles from everyone else, and a slap on the back of the head and a middle finger from Catherine herself.
"Lord Sauros, as Lady Ghislaine has previously stated, there's no point in worrying about it." Ariel added. "Please let us all rest. I have quite the important math lesson tomorrow. Unless… It's canceled?" Ariel looked towards Rudy who was picking his nose.
"I need money so no." He simply answered before flicking the remains off his finger and walking out of the room.
Ariel immediately deflated and also walked out of the room, swiftly followed by Derrick and Luke.
"Seems nothing can be done." Sauros sighed. "All of you get to bed."
I quickly left the room before anyone else could, but I had no intention of sleeping. I just slept in for a whole month, I damn sure wouldn't be sleeping now.
"Leighton, wait up a sec." Cathy called as I walked down the halls.
"What's up Cathy?"
"I think it's time I told you. I was hoping maybe you could tell me as well?"
I froze. Was now finally the moment of truth. The moment I learned about the real god that lies behind the shadow of the world. Did my lord send her here? I swallowed my spit and motioned for her to follow me. Our destination? Rudy's room.
Once we arrived I knocked on the door. There was no answer. In these few seconds I started contemplating on if I should do this or not. Rudy and I know that we were both reincarnated into this world, but what we don't know is the details about each other's lives. We never dove into that info. Will what is said tonight change our relationship?
My thoughts were cut short as the door was opened. However the one that opened the door was Sylphy.
"Hey Lei, Cathy? Something I can help you with?" Sylphy asked, wearing the soft smile I've come to know and love. Seriously. If I didn't know any better I'd say she became way more beautiful in the month I was out.
"Actually Sylphy, we were hoping to talk to Rudy in private." I answered. Gaining a confused look from Cathy.
"Oh okay. Will it be all night?" Sylphy questioned, looking saddened.
"Nah, it should be an hour at most, maybe two if things go south."
"South?" Sylphy worriedly asked rightfully so.
"Don't worry, no ones in danger. It'll be over before you know it. I'll even go to your room to let you know we finished after."
"...Okay. I trust you Lei." Sylphy slowly said before inching out of the room and taking my hand.
"Go easy on him okay?" she asked with a soft smile.
I looked deep into her eyes, answered honestly.
"No promises." With that Cathy and I entered the room to see Rudy reading a book on magic theory. He had no doubt heard everything and had just been waiting for us to come in.
"So what do we have to talk about?" Rudy asked, not looking up from the book.
Cathy's confusion had never left. I decided I could crush everyone's confusion with a single sentence.
"We were all reincarnated into this world, let's talk about it."
Silence.
Not a single word was spoken among the three of us for a whole minute.
Rudy had long since stopped reading the book and was now sweating bullets as he looked at us.
Cathy looked even worse than Rudy, to be fair there's no way she could have known Rudy was reincarnated. After all, he doesn't have an ability or bicolored eyes.
I was the first to break the silence. Sitting down at Rudy's desk, I motioned for Cathy to sit next to Rudy to which she complied.
"I guess I'll go first. There's no reason we have to introduce ourselves after all we know each other in this world. Let's just tell each other about our life and what led us here."
Rudy slowly nodded, still sweating as much as before, while Cathy started to calm down over the shock of learning Rudy is also one of us. I closed my eyes and began to relive the last days of my life.
"When I died I was an 18 year old student that had just finally finished my last day of school. Throughout my life I was always a bit of an athlete and an overachiever. However my favorite hobby outside of school would have to be reading manga and watching anime. On my last day I had been hoping I could rewatch the abridged version of DBZ, but on my way home I got a bad omen. I tried to hurry home, but inevitably I ended up being hit by a truck that I swear SPAWNED out of nowhere. As I died I couldn't help but look at the sun. It was beautiful, strong and vibrant. I wished to be like it. Even when my vision went black I could still see the red rays of the sun. Next thing I know I'm being born."
I opened my eyes to see both Rudy and Cathy stunned.
"What?" I asked, while rubbing my face to make sure nothing was on it.
"How could you just speak of your death so casually?" Cathy asked.
"It happened a long time ago. I've more or less come to terms with my sudden tragic demise." I shrugged. "So who's next?"
Cathy and Rudy looked at each other. Rudy started sweating again. Jeez, was it that bad?
"Guess I'm next." Cathy sighed.
I died at the age of 24. I had finished college, had my own place, a well paying job and even a boyfriend who doubled as my boss. Life was good. Until one day…" Cathy paused. Tears started streaming down her face.
I walked over to her. I crouched down to her level and put a hand on her shoulder. "You don't have to say anything else if you don't want to. Don't force yourself."
"No!" She cried. "I need to let it go. Like you have. I need to face it."
I nodded, deciding to stay right in front of her in case she needed help again.
She inhaled and exhaled carefully before continuing again.
"Until one day. I found out I was pregnant with my boyfriend's child. I didn't know how he'd react but I knew I shouldn't make any decisions without him. So…I told him." She paused again.
I placed my hand on her lap and she grabbed my hand tightly. She looked me in the eyes as more tears started streaming down. I more or less could guess the ending of her story, and If I was right. She just gained a lot more respect from me for sharing it.
"He was angry. He told me to get rid of it. I didn't want to. He screamed and yelled and I couldn't take it. I ran out in the heat of the moment. Once I was a few blocks away I stopped. I went to sit on the swings at the park nearby. Kids were playing and I thought about my own. It only made me cry more. Suddenly a car lost control and flipped over. It bounced it's way over and would have crushed one of the little girls who was playing. My body just moved. I pushed her out of the way but I got hit instead. The car…it landed over my lower half. As my life was fading away, I heard my boyfriend screaming my name. Begging me to live. I paid him no mind. Instead I wished I could get out of that situation. Both me and my child. I wished I could miraculously end up back home without any worries. That I could live a happy life and take care of my child in a happy home."
At this point Catherine was sobbing while she clung to me. She had been living with all of that. I was speechless. However I knew now that I had to make her feel better.
"Your strong Cathy. Stronger than me that's for sure. You faced a past you never wanted to look back at. I admire your mental strength. Her sobs grew louder as she cried into my shirt, staining it. I didn't care though. In this moment everything was about her.
Rudy had been watching in silence. I had no idea what he was thinking. Was he thinking about Cathy's story? Maybe his own? Questions I'd soon have answered.
After about 30 minutes of Cathy crying into my shirt she finally looked up at me. Snot and tears covered her face, however I tried not to react. Her eyes were red and puffy.
"Thank you Lei. I mean it." she whispered.
"Oh, calling me Lei now?" I softly teased.
"Is that okay?" She sniffled.
"Just fine."
Suddenly Cathy looked uncomfortable. "Something wrong?" I asked. Only to get pushed onto my back by her. My head hit the ground causing my injury to act up again.
"Oh, sorry! I was just startled by how close we were." Cathy admitted.
"It's fine, don't worry. I don't think the wound reopened, just a headache." I smiled.
"Anyways." I started looking towards Rudy. "Your turn brother."
He looked down to the ground for a long while. We didn't rush him or push him in any way. He decided whether he wanted to tell us or not.
"I died at the age of 34." Rudy started. He instantly looked between us to see our faces, both of us maintained looks of delicacy. We weren't going to judge him.
"I was an overweight NEET. A DAMN RECLUSE!" His voice grew as his rage built up.
"In high school I was bullied simply for existing. They did horrible things to me. Things nobody should have to go through. Things no one should have to live with." Rudy started tearing up but that didn't stop him from continuing.
"One day they went too far. They stripped me naked and tied me to the front gates. They took pictures and everyone watched. There wasn't a person who had my back, who reported them. THEY JUST WATCHED AND LAUGHED!" Rudy paused for a bit.
I walked over to him to try and hug him, but he slapped my arm away.
"I'm fine. After that day, I stayed inside. I convinced and persuaded my parents to let me live in my room, not leaving for anything. Food? They'd just bring it up to me. Needed to throw something away, there's trash bags all around me. Need to use the bathroom? Fuck the bathroom. I self indulged in my own fantasies every day. What I was doing. That wasn't living. I had completely given up hope and was simply waiting for myself to wither away. One day, my parents died in an accident. I was too damn scared to even go outside that I skipped the funeral. My siblings came upstairs and threw me onto the street. For the first time in years I was outside, cold, wet, alone and afraid. In front of me were some high school kids that had gotten into an argument. I decided I'd try to make one thing right in my shitty life and took the hit for those kids. In my last moments all that coursed through my head was the rage I had for the life I lived to that point. Then I remembered the reason why I lived such a shitty life. Those damn bullies. I wanted to burn them all alive. Hell, I wanted them to suffer the ultimate punishment. I wanted them to cease to exist. However the next time I opened my eyes I saw Paul." Rudy finished.
Jeez. Their stories made mine look like a morning walk, while theirs were 10km marathons.
His tears had long since dried up. His face now could only be described as expressionless.
"Seems we all had it rough." Cathy said as she hugged Rudy who didn't reject the hug.
"Seems so." Rudy sighed, hugging her back.
I watched them for a while then stared at the ceiling.
"I'm glad we talked about this. I feel like we're all closer now." I yawned.
They didn't say anything, they only nodded.
"Alright, I'm gonna get Sylphy to head over here. If you guys want to talk, my room is free."
As I was walking for the door I felt a hand grab mine. I looked back to see a staggering Cathy.
"Need something?"
"It's been a pretty rough night, could you sleep in my room tonight?"
That caught me off guard.
"Sure thing, I don't mind, but let me tell my mom first. Go on and wait for me."
"No, I'll come with you." She pouted.
My headache was coming back stronger than before.
"Do what you want. Night Rudy."
"Goodnight Rudeus." Cathy waved.
"Goodnight Lei, Cathy.
We walked out and shut the door behind us. We walked over to Sylphy's room and knocked. She got to the door almost immediately.
"Done?" She asked.
"Yea. He's all yours." I answered, getting a blush from Sylphy.
"Thanks." She said as she grabbed her pillow and walked towards Rudy's room.
Now we headed towards my room, but on the way saw my mother in the hall.
"Mom, I'm gonna sleep in Cathy's room." I announced.
"Alright, no breeding though kid. I don't need more kittens running around. One is enough."
Both of us turned red and I turned to Cathy. She was looking up at me expectantly. What did she want? I don't know. I grabbed her hand and rushed her to her room. Upon getting inside I threw myself on the bed and took off my shirt and pants.
"Why!?" She asked, completely alarmed.
"It's how I like to sleep. I hope it doesn't make you too uncomfortable."
"O-oh, right. Just sleeping. Cool." Cathy awkwardly said.
Cathy looked conflicted again but ultimately decided to let it go. As I laid down, she crawled onto the bed and laid close next to me.
"Thanks Lei."
"For what?"
"This."
"No problem. Goodnight Cathy."
"Goodnight.
Sleep was more than overdue for me. I don't know if it's because I hit my head again or because the tension from our talk but fatigue was consuming me. I closed my eyes and didn't open them till morning.
When I awoke Cathy was laying on top of me instead of beside me, and our faces were really close.
Considering I sleep next to my mom every night I wasn't surprised by the closeness. My mom tosses and turns something fierce. It was still early in the morning. So I decided to go on a nice early morning jog, but not before covering Cathy completely with the sheets. My head was feeling much better and life was looking bright.

Rudy's 10th Birthday
Everyone in the house was going crazy. They were all trying to plan a surprise party for Rudy, but they forgot one thing. It's Rudy. He's the smartest in the house. You can't have the entire house know something and keep it from Rudy. Hell, he probably assumed we were gonna plan one before we even started planning.
My mother was tasked with the job of keeping Rudy occupied while we get everything set up. We sent out an invite to Father, Zenith, Lilia, Norn, and Aisha, as well as Sylphy's parents, however they were busy. There has been an increase in the monster population in our entire region and that has to be their main priority. Though if they can bring the population down in a month they might make mine, so hey silver lining.
"Where the hell is the damn cake! LOUISE! I TOLD YOU TO BRING IT FOR INSPECTION! Sauros yelled.
"My apologies master, I'll get on that right away." Louise bowed before bumping into me.
"I'm so sorry Master Leighton I can't do anything right." She bowed again.
"Don't worry Louise, and calm down. I'll deal with that cake so you just focus on your next task."
Her face lit up with joy. She quickly became overwhelmed and pulled me into a hug.
"Thank you so much Master Leighton, you're the greatest." She ran away ready to tackle her next task.
Sighing, I bolted for the cake.
Once I was done with all my duties I went up to check on Rudy.
When I opened the door, I saw Rudy feeling up my mom's ass.
"Lei, it's not what you think!" Rudy pleaded.
I simply shut the door and retraced my steps back to the main room. I was simply gonna forget I saw that.
After a few minutes, Eris was sent to bring Rudy down. Once he arrived I could already see the smug look on his face.
"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled in unison. Rudy stood there for a few seconds before breaking down into tears. Fake tears might I add.
"Thank you, It's been so hard being away from my family. I miss them so much. I didn't know you guys cared this much about me." He cried, bringing down the mood for everyone.
I walked over to him and slapped him hard on his ass.
"THE HELL WAS THAT FOR!? He hissed.
"For feeling up my mom and fake crying at your own birthday party. Just enjoy it and stop acting like they owe you more.
Rudy shrugged. "Fair, it was worth a shot." To the surprise of everyone in attendance. Which was actually a pretty big crowd. The head family and their guards, Ariel and her faction, Eris, Hilda, her siblings, Sauros, and the bodyguards. Don't forget the maids. Rudy had over 100 people here, I really don't see what there is to complain about.
The party was filled with laughter and tons of fun. Unusually we did a lot of stuff kids would do, Sylphy's idea. All of the kids gathered and we had a blast. The head family children, Eris, Sylphy, Rudy, Luke, Ariel, and myself
We played normal tag for the first time. I also got tagged for the first time by Cathy who was using her ability. We did an arm wrestling tournament. Spoiler, I won. Red light Green light. Cathy won. All in all it was a fun day. Rudy ended the night by opening presents. From Eris he received a really expensive magical staff called Aqua Heartia. It's a powerful staff that will not only enhance his magical strength, but also take away some of the mp cost. Truly a great gift to accomplish his goal.
Rudy opened his gift from Sylphy which was surprisingly an aphrodisiac. We had seen this exact bottle a couple days back in a shop and Rudy asked me to buy it for him. I refused. Don't need him taininting anyone, but it looks like Sylphy went and bought it without knowing what it was. Considering it cost around 15 gold, she still has plenty left over, but it is still quite the expensive gift.
Rudy hugged her tightly causing her to blush softly.
"Thank you so much Sylphy, I'll treasure it for life."
"Pretty hard to do that once you use it." I joked.
Rudy looked dumbfounded. Maybe he's not so smart.
"Anyways, now it's time for you to open my gift." I said as I walked over and grabbed what I had prepared.
It was nicely wrapped in elegant wrapping paper.
"Oh Lei, you really went all out didn't you?" Rudy asked.
I smiled and handed him the gift. He didn't hesitate in unwrapping it. Once he found out what it was he jumped into my arms and thanked me over and over.
"What is it Rudy?" Sylphy asked.
"A book containing magic in all elements up to saint class. With this I'll be able to finally expand the rest of my abilities and reach King Class in all elements.
The whole family looked on in awe.
"A book like that has to be expensive right?" Cathy queried.
"50 gold coins, yeah." I shrugged.
"50 GOLD COINS!? Rudy questioned.
15 gold coins was enough to buy a pretty nice house, but 50 was enough to buy a mansion and still have some left over. It could easily pay for the full tuition to the Magic Academy in Ranoa with about 40 gold coins left over.
"Use the book and learn everything you can from it then sell it for a high price, this is the way of the stocks brother." I joked.
Only Rudy and Cathy understood but they didn't find it very funny.
Sad. Usually my jokes land, guess I'm having an off day. Everyone else presented their gifts and best wishes and Rudy went to sleep a very happy man. He would be talking about his loot for weeks, maybe until my birthday. I really didn't have the energy for it but honestly I was happy for him.

The next day
Rudy had taken Eris, Ariel, Ghislaine, and Sylphy out to show them saint class water magic. Phillip, Hilda, Sauros, and the rest of the head family with the exception of the youngest Michael and Cathy were out on a shopping trip. Cathy and I were discussing things about our past lives.
"So what did you want to be after high school?" Cathy asked with genuine wonder.
"A doctor." I shrugged. Cathy looked at me like I told her I wanted to be a pornstar.
"You… A doctor?" She questioned. I nodded a bit more confused now.
"You don't think I could do it?"
"I didn't mean it like that. Don't get me wrong, you're smart, but you strike me more as the guy who sends people to the doctor, not the doctor himself." She explained.
"Well money's cool, plus I was one of the smartest kids in my entire grad class." I bragged.
"Guess we have that in common."
"Oh plea-"
I was cut off by the sound of an explosion.
"The hell is going on!" Cathy asked, panicking."
"Calm down, let's get outside and take a look." I tried to soothe her.
When we walked outside we saw a blue light as wide and tall as the eye could see heading our way. I grabbed Cathy's hand and tried to run us away as far as possible.
"WAIT!" Cathy yelled.
"What!?"
"Michael, he's back in the house. We can't leave him!"
"SHIT! WAIT HERE I'LL BE RIGHT BACK!"
I bolted towards the mansion and the blue light was quickly consuming everything. I didn't have time to run through any doors so I jumped straight through the wall.
"MICHAEL? WHERE ARE YOU!"
Silence.
"MIKEY BOY WHERE ARE YOU KID!"
"BIG BROTHER OVER HERE!"
I instantly dashed towards the sound and found Michael hiding for dear life. I scooped him up before punching a hole through the wall and jumping through. The light had almost caught us. I dashed towards Cathy who was frantically waiting, as I reached her I scooped her up and ran as fast as I possibly could.
"Michael you're alright aren't you, no scratches?" Cathy asked.
"I'm scared sis." Michael cried tears swelling out of his eyes.
"I am too, but Leighton is the most reliable man, woman, or child I've ever met. He'll keep us safe, don't worry." Cathy smiled trying to comfort her little brother.
His tears continued to flow but his cries were muffled.
I was just milliseconds slower and it was right on our ass. I didn't know what would happen if we were consumed and I didn't want to find out. I kept running but inevitably the light caught us.
AND DONE! FINALLY! You guys have no idea how long this took me man. Not only was I working on this chapter, but while I was doing this one I was more or less writing the set-up for the next few chapters. Truly a pain in my ass, but it was actually pretty fun. I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Hell of a cliffhanger I must say. Who was teleported with who? We know it's gonna be Leighton, Cathy and Michael, but what about the others? Will things go down like canon, or will I finally switch it up. The next chapter will be where the story really starts. Up until now, it was more or less building relationships up and giving the characters a background they can reflect on and learn from. The lore in the next chapter will be taken from some of the history of Mushoku Tensei itself, but my own twist will be put on it. If you don't want to learn anything about the past of the Mushoku Tensei universe, this story isn't really for you, but if you don't care and simply want to keep reading then I look forward to seeing you in the next chapter.
This is a note for people who really care about the story. I plan on dropping the next chapter not too long after this one drops. In terms of planning it I'm about 30% done by the time this is posted, and you should probably be getting the next chapter by the coming Monday. I just wanted to know, did you think I handled things right or maybe a mistake I made. If you're questioning my logic behind decisions, why? I would really like to know. Makes the story better if I can address holes in it. I'm just one guy who likes writing for fun and has no beta readers so I just have to make it work. Anyways won't take up anymore of your time. Thank you for reading
Random Question: Do you think Leighton and Catherine are the only ones who were born with gifts? Something to think about. Until the next chapter!
