~I only sing of our new king! ~ The Gemini boy glared at the acrobat and his wife. ~ I will not cease my praises to this new –

~WE are NOT! ~ Starfire shouted. ~ We are not a part of this nefarious ploy and neither are my dearest gnorfkins! ~

~You must though! I will not stand to be mocked by the ones who are bound to lose their home…As I lost my brother. That jinni one will erase that pesky hound for me IF I swear my loyalty. Then, your boy will never rise to stop him…hahaha~~~

~I won't let you touch them! They are not themselves and….~ Dick stopped struggling. ~ It was my fault…I should have realized that Raku was in there. Aiden shouldn't have –

~He never gave in and saved my king…. he was ATTRACTED to such whimsies –

~Speak not one more ill word of my children, or you shall surely –

~Oh! The king? Hath he returned to us!~ Happily, snarkily, Gemini turned his head to an open portal. Bounding through was not the king but another absent ruler.

~ Slade?? ~ Dick almost fell over in his seat with shock, the demons below did not let them go. Slade held up some strange relic or talisman for them to see. An Ankh, no doubt from his contact.

~ How did you –

~I wasn't so lucky. The Titans still have no idea what I know. Astarte is gathering information on the one who's coming to earth to attack. They are after Raku, but your family is not without that same sentence hanging over their heads. ~

Slade looked around at the spell – driven, tea party table. The vines and magical picture book fiasco that was the inside of the daemon's skull, made him bite back some rising vomit in his throat. The miasma here was weaker than before... ~ Raku, was he… ~

~Ignito was infected, we think. ~

The Gemini teen turned away, not liking the bulky giant since he'd abandoned Eris in her time of need.

~Wasn't he destroyed?? ~ Slade stared at the figure, hoping he'd not been hallucinating all this time. Where was a mammoth caterpillar with a hookah when you needed one!

Dick shook his head, disheartened by the way things had turned out for that kid.

~Raku's magic I guess, or Ignito's. I can't tell which is the real mastermind behind this illusion. ~

~ Then I suggest you let me find the little brat and shake him until he talks. ~

~ That will be too much! ~ Starfire rebuked. ~ His double has my Aiden, and Raku has changed…he is more possessive, and claims that he must be the only one that can have –

~Manipulative kid, then he's lost it. Astarte and I weren't the only pair working to stop the assault on earth. We almost failed at that, but Autur got me here without a scratch. Among other things... ~ Slade sighed and let the Ankh transform into a sacred saber. Dick's eyes grew wide behind the mask. ~ You…. were really going to do it…~

~I have no choice. Not up for debate. ~

Starfire was a mother, yet blinded by her compassion even now.

~ Aiden thinks that Raku can be saved…. I too still know that he is hurting deeply, somewhere. ~

Slade chuckled softly at the silly reason NOT to kill a demi God gone rogue. ~Your son could end up a shell. Do you want that? Raku is not able to stop himself, and I fear with Ignito driving him to attack, he'll only gather more energy; enough to start a collapse. ~

Dick's mouth gaped open. ~A…As in? ~

~ Yes, Grayson. He is a god's child after all. Not on this world, but they warned your boy about the risks of saving that two – faced creature . ~ Slade shook his head; tracing the saber over an area in the room, getting a portal open with one slice.

~ Aiden can't apologize for his own shortcomings; Raku is gone and what now remains…is an ugly beast without a conscience. ~

Without delay, Slade left the three to drink in his own opinion of the matter. Knowing Dick's mind, he'd find the clue Slade had left. He'd used a small trick to unhook the man from his chair. A dance partner in the unknown world? He could only hope that Richard still knew how to face the man head on.

Aiden was going to have to learn to crawl to save himself.

And Raku?

Well, this was payback. Now that Anna was busy questioning his involvement in their lives, he could move on until it was time to suit up for another immortals' idea of a dogfight.

The sneak "Verra" decided to let his counterpart Veravakumu rest as he snooped about the halls of the grant court to the Eternal. He had to see why their trial was being held here – or at all, and why Yumi had been separated during their trip to the netherworld.

Was Aluehainyu also working to stop the one in charge?

~Kaien betrayed me, and his kids….I won't forgive him if any of my family is killed by that pig – headed hound…~ Snarled the dark fox, seeking out a channel to send his new message. He muttered the speak under his breath. Contemplating where to search last…

~Al is not going to like me being cooped up in her keep, but Hecate is connected. I think….when Ares –

~ Stop right there!~

Ah, great. Guard squad number one.

~ We gonna tango or what, guys?~ The fox said while tired of these run ins with dangerous folk. ~ Look; I have worlds to save, not cull. You should be re – reading the sacred laws. Anyone who tries to pull a genocide contract? Right to the pits with –

~ HEY ~! Vee swiftly flung himself out of the guards' firing range. He was their target, and the one in charge could not wait to see the disobedient pup. After so long, it felt unnatural to be running away from the enemy. He'd found peace, and then lost it.

He dove after a corridor and didn't stop. The shadows here were limited. It was daytime in the Eternal world. Raku recalled nothing of his time spent in the sacred and forgotten dune capital city. Yet, Vee had seen so much more than Raku ever might remember in a lifetime. He was the aspect of shadow. Well, his power defined it. He was the side no one wanted to know, and the memories buried of every immortal flowed through him as a cosmic stream of consciousness.

~Transcend the darkness! Bare witness – open the gates to the void and separate the barrier between planes! So it shall be done!! ~

The noise; the rattle and crank of gears, until Verra knew who it was that was calling him.

~You were such a pup in our day….~

Her face was cast off into shadow, and the guards were left helpless by the energies she vastly collected. Of the world over, Vespa as Chronos's successor was not the greatest feeling to a reunion for the cat. He'd of course had far worse.

~We have no time –

~But you ARE time! ~ Verra shot back as her, being pulled in further to his relative's dark little world. The path that lead to Hecate's domain. Where he also needed to be right now.

He coughed out the stink of death from his lungs. Quaking on four legs, the pup was so confused…

~Cousin Vespie?? ~ Verra sneezed while trying to stand up, his rabbit ears cocked in curiosity and suspicion at her new, look. ~ Why did you save me?? You could have b –

~ Lady Cecilia and I have come to an…agreement, while in your absence. ~ The "goddess of time's web and death's heir" raised her scythe to open a new gateway for them. Deeper, darker, into the unknown. Tunnels that lead to multiple purgatories of a sort.

~ There is a danger; Lord Hades has sworn to eradicate all mortals and those who do not profess the views of the Universal gods. The oldest ones have returned. ~

~The old gods got antsy. Nothing we can't handle –

~Yet this is! Lady Hecate and her surviving children were captured by a strange aura. One we believed had left these planes to be. ~

~Lil. That's the curse she left behind. It infected all of the planes' inhabitants and earth also is the only one realm that hasn't been hit entirely by its presence. ~ Vee nodded, grimly trying to keep from scaring himself.

~Not a prophecy, but a curse…I understand. All of those haunted or tainted by her vows were subject to this madness. ~

~And now the scapegoat is Raku, because somebody infected poor Ignito – who by the way is acting like a spoiled kid up in space –

~Space?? The Universal will come after them! You must warn –

Verra shook his furry head. ~My counterpart is powerless. I have to help it escape or we may not see to the Chosen –

~Chosen…~ Vespa sighed. ~Why did he do it?? Ruin the contract?~

~Alien pheromones. ~ Verra nervously chuckled. ~Mir was sent by her mom from a planet called Drenthax to come after Aiden and Raku. She got em' but turns out that Princess Mir's mother was being talked over by a number - one bullshit artist. The surviving Gemini Brother that Eris resurrected. ~

~I…must have been in stasis. ~ Vespa shook her head while her hood stayed upright.

~You were doing your job, but I ended up getting blamed. As usual. Like I said; we get to the one who's doing this and we –

~What can we do?? She is also under the taint's power!! Cecelia managed to quiet both of our infections, but not much longer if we cannot survive…~

Verra looked ahead and through the portal. ~What's your plan now? ~ He asked the worried reaper daemoness. ~I intend to free Lady Hecate and save her from the evil that has corrupted her world. I will see to Hades' punishment sooner, but for now we must locate your ally Ardius. ~

~Did he get captured too?? ~ Verra's eyes bugged a bit outwards.

~He found Cecelia. ~ Vespa smiled a bit, knowing it was a time to stay positive as Chronos had taught her.

~Thank gods…!~ Vee huffed a sigh of relief. ~Let's go find them. Just like a walk through the dark woods? ~

~Just as on Vesperion. ~Grinned the still reliable woman that Verra now trusted with his life.

Batman clicked at the keys of the Watchtower computer. Finally, finally Slade had made a move. Back on Earth, Bats had sent more heroes to counter the constant changes. Those changes now included the sky above Gotham swirling into colors that resembled a sunset, yet more so they blurred. The whole sky was like that, and it wasn't a natural occurrence according to the watchtower's readings.

~Father; what is the status report? Has Grayson found his family yet. ~

Damian's frown was there; Bruce could tell. Like father, like son. Then again, so was Dick…

~ You can't just leave them! What about Aiden? I can't hold off half of these spore infested sections much longer. Zatara thinks that we don't stand a chance if we can't get to the mother – plant or whatever. They just keep –

"That's because it was a trick."

Damian looked at his device. No face. Just a voice.

~ Why didn't you –

"Maxima didn't know, but we had heroes keeping the waterways contained. I had reason to suspect foul play after the attack at the Whitehouse when the Drenthax army first terrorized the earth."

~Are you kidding??~ Conner shouted from t he next link over.

~This is our talk, Superboy. Quit try –

"I think he should hear this, Damian." Clark came up right beside Bruce's unit. "We're opening a line. Should show both visuals, now."

~ Why'd you block it? Superman…~ Grumbled Conner to his pops.

Clark explained and put a hand up to stop his ally. "We had no other choice. Our connection isn't that stable." Batman relented, letting Superman come clean about their findings in such a short while. Batman nodded and got to put in his part next. "Robin, we have a new image to send to your team. This is what is really going on. The spores at this point are old data. We have to be vigilant; A new threat is coming."

The heroes turned around. Right and waiting to speak with her arms crossed over her chest was Isa Rothschild. Otherwise known as Lady Isis and late queen of Egypt's new kingdom of the past spirit world.

"Lady warrior Queen Astarte is working undercover and has been since the threat was contained within the Eternal realm of spirit creation." Isa explained. "However, a viral – effect from the succubus Lilu's curse that she left behind, possessed my brothers and sisters…. Those of us who survived the culling ended up banding together to fight the one solely committed to destroying our worlds." She didn't stop there. "We even had spies to help with the effort. A man known as –

" Deathstroke." Clark and Bruce said at once.

"Yes. He was working with my ally Autur, who has sided with those against the changes. The Phoenix is connected to her powers, so Aiden's life must not be left unguarded. Raku –

"Is more dangerous than we imagined." Hawk woman spoke as J'onn Jones also had something to bring to the table. "The boy's illusionary art is very skilled, but he is not doing this. At least if that Star was all along a dark one and its opposing force, then something must be done to settle that cosmic being from destroy –

"He won't." Isa stopped her allies, "Autur was very explicit on the information she passed along to her partner. Raku's magic is unbound because of a human emotion. NOT any other."

"What?" Flash gawked from his post. "Then…. he isn-

"Raku was born to the world of jinn, gods, and story teller alchemists. His mother is of a branch that allows for recorded tales and information to be locked away. Azag was a reincarnated god made Jinn lord who carried his curse of the past into his time, and his son carries now his power and burden to create and destroy. Yet, he did not give up his humanity entirely, so he cannot know. Aiden must somehow sense that Raku wishes to change."

"To be human, but it won't happen." Batman looked to his son who frowned at the way Isa worded "change " to them. "He lost control, so this is –

" WHY you must trust the Chosen!" Isa pleaded, while knowing that the future wa not as perfect as a Rosetta stone.

"He's threatened the same people who tried to help him when his own kind wanted him dead!" Bruce came at Isa's words as kindling to his fiery temper. "As a father, I'm no hero at that either. Damian was like Dick and my family, one of those I swore to protect. Raku isn't thinking clearly. He's murdered, raped, and manipulated others even knowing what he was doing was unjust. He can't take back what happened. He won't listen and THAT makes his reasoning deadly and unsound. We can't let sentimental values cloud our judgement –

"What about when Robin back then was Red X or with Slade?" Gar piped in, wanting to avoid the bat's temper as much as the next guy. "I know Richie isn't the bad guy anymore, buy he did the same exact thing when he excused the "aspects" of Roku's son from being sent back to the spirit world."

Damian cocked a brow, not knowing that far back when Dick had been like a wizard.

"Yeah, an' Star an' you guys all helped him and fought the dragon back when we were still the Teen Titans. Good long-term memory ya' got there, Changeling." Cy was impressed. Bb wasn't like this "side attraction" of the former shape shifting hero he'd grown up to love like a little brother. It was as if time had been much kinder to his bud than before now that he was a real leaguer like all the other heroes of the past.

"We already had a conclusion. The Titans handled it, and Dick was given a sentence suited to the fact that he had put his identity, Batman's, and the Titans' lives in jeopardy –

"But Slade already knew your identities." Raven added in. "We already found out about Deathstroke once Robin found his file in the Bat Cave's database; the time he'd gotten away from the dragon long enough to act. The league was…ok with our knowing. After –

"The dragon manipulated us. He's a dangerous threat, even as a child –

"It was as we had believed, yet his pain IS entirely mortal." Isa shook her head at Bruce's accusation and the Titans of yesteryear all agreed that Isa and Batman were both correct.

"We can try, that's all Aiden wants to do. And what Richard and Kori want is a way back home. They don't want to leave anyone else behind –

"Um…. speaking of leaving…. where is the prisoner we had locked up???" Flash gulped and came skidding over to GL, who glared Wallace down with eyes so emerald and serious. "Deathstroke?? Wally! You were in charge of the security! Batman –

"I get it." He turned in his chair back to Isa. "How do we contact them; your allies?"

Slade's idea of killing wasn't in a single mode of deaths. He had his orders, but Raku was a problem child like any other, right?

Aiden's struggling was an instant echo through the space as a giggling brat Ignito kept the man from losing his way. The newly crafted illusion was a playroom all for the sake of the faux "jinn's" Alice to keep her cozy. It had what his mind could fathom. Memories of rock and pop music, a bed and a few cushions from a time in the Sands' capital layered the floor in this space of warped appearances.

All of Raku's favorite things.

And so much more in which filled the void that was his devastated heart.

~I want to turn Norway into a home for all the wild things…it belongs to the wise; do you not agree?? ~

What? A wasteland? A winter tundra?? Was the kid…

Plans on ruling the world. Spirit and mortal alike.

~I…. think it would be ok to let everyone –

~Live in peace?? Hmmm…. what says your cowardly lion?? Aiden?? What should we do for good Nor –

~ NOTHING ! ~

Crap. The kid was a trinket to the jinn… Slade seethed under his breath, noticing that his speech had become as the children's.

~ You…. you don't listen! What Raku says, goes. Don't hurt anyone or –

~ OR …...?? ~ Ignito baked a laugh at the blonde, his pesky brother's pet's choker of gold was just a leash to keep him bound to this place.

~Kings conquer. For HE must conquer to be able to shove away the shackles of our past! Raku! Tell him! He's wrong. Raku, please –

~ Stop it! I want to be left alone…~ Raku curled up into himself and shied from the world, letting the dark embrace him as a quilt meant to shield the boy from his aggressor.

Slade raised an eyebrow to the scene. Raku…was rejecting his posessor, even after nearly becoming just like the true Jinn in face…Maybe, Aiden was right to go along with –

~ What will you do? ~ Smirking back at the powerless blonde, Ignito was fighting over their "savior." As if…

~You…you're the one, who's jealous of –

~NO. ~ Ignito dismissed Aiden's calculative assumption. ~ I only want him to thrive. You were as all the rest…. Deceitful. Intolerant… and??? ~ The jinn eyeballed the blonde with eyes wide and balloon sized.

~ Heartless. When we had a heart for the ones to abuse US…! ~

~ I'M SORR –

~NO! NO MORE! ~ Raku wasn't here. Aiden tugged at his collar and flinched when Ignito drew a set of fingers over his pale cheek. Aiden gulped and took his time thinking of something to say. Right now, he couldn't fight with force, but his words might convince the creep to loosen up. His hazel eyes shone back as Ignito's colder ones seemed to soften a bit, tenderly.

Aiden spoke. ~You…. you are the one…who has to let him go. He has to be able to fall and get back up…you can't try to control everything! It's wrong, and he knows –

~I only…do what is best. ~ Ignito hissed, curling to fettle position with a yawn, then flicking a wrist to have Aiden's lids fall shut. ~ Recover, with us…. he wants us to…. both live…~

A nap. Child… Figures.

Slade waited up until their snores could be heard, then he snuck behind Aiden to send a message through his head through the same speak. ~ You have to wake up. I'll meet you towards the center. Don't die or the world will fall and you'll be the only cause of it. ~

Slade slunk through a narrow gap in the field by Autur's magical aid. Time was not on their side, and Raku had to stop living in a damn fairytale to see that he was the one everyone wanted to live. Not die. He'd scared Grayson enough, being that Raku was just a scapegoat for Athena to get their invisible goat.

A few seconds through, and tendrils encased this new divide. Slade froze. A sea of them, and guessing this was a memory that had been repressed by the kid's fears, he pushed on.

And until….

What he saw was a bit of a shocker. Pornographic, but of course the succubus had tainted everything.

Raku was no exception. And he was being loved in all the wrong ways, in all the right places.

A nightmare. A hentai – disaster that Lilu had birthed to keep the kid inside his basket case of trauma and resent over any of the gods.

(This is taken from chapter 16 of Against all odds where Lilu tentacle takes (won't say R word unless used formally or in a way to consider it unlawful as Batman said it right) Raku's innocence in a way to control his powers. Well, it was better as a whole, but Slade is satirically biting down on the bad in order to mess with Raku's memories and have him realize that he has more control than he thinks.)

As if she owned him by his fears never having left.

Aiden had only seen the aftermath, never the afterglow. It was poison to the mind.

Ah, so the kid was still reliving this memory every time he fell to pieces.

~ So. Getting cozy I, see? ~ Slade looked up and walked ahead as the vines were cleared by way of his borrowed light saber. ~I think it's about time to wake up, don't you? ~ Slade went on, speaking to the boy; who was flushed red in his forced lust and sopping by his lips while…. He was….Tucked, under. Well. He was young to the strix at least. Too young to Slade for this to not be coercive. The scene made the mercenary's nose wrinkle at the stench of miasma here in this dark place.

~You were not invited. ~ This "vine formation" of Lilu drawled; her chiding manner would evaporate if she got a whiff of the essence of a god on his sleeve. He had to work quickly. Raku needed to know that this was a dream, nothing more.

~Then I'm closing the door on this, reception. Your consummation by the way, failed. Or did you forget how that child ruined your face? ~ Slade stared into the hollowed eyes of Raku's apparition. ~ He's mine! I'll birth an all new –

~It won't happen. So, Raku? Did you want to start over? Make them see you as something more than the queen's toy? ~

Raku bit his lip as a slimy vine pulsed and made his hips buck some more. Slade snorted. ~Fine. I'll help. You had better run and hide, little jinn. This won't be pretty…~ He gambled and tugged the strix's body off of the boy with a free arm, having her scream aloud as her form returned to Ishtar's own voluptuous image. She was more regal in status with her robes, yet her form looked deflowered.

~How…. dare!! –

~I do, actually. ~ Slade smirked and rushed with his blade to hit her in the demoness's very core. Blood flowed as black as tar, while Raku was released from the vines in a sex phased stupor of borderline contentment.

~nun…. Why…..~ Lilu spat out her long – turned taint with a gasp.

~I owed you, perhaps you may return the favor for your, family's sake. Maybe he will instead in your place... ~ Slade knew it. He was officially going soft in the head to become an immortal. This was…

Ok. Fine.

~Come. We don't have much time –

Raku groggily took in the sight of his real dream scape. ~Why –

Raku's arm was tugged mercilessly as the boy's red attire returned; the illusion had vanished as Slade sliced open a new gateway to where Aiden would need a lift himself.

~He….~ The jinn Ignito's eyes popped open. ~He's gone! ~

He looked with a gasp, right beside himself. Aiden! He….no…no…. nonononononoonononnoono!! ~~~~~

~ AAAAAAGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!~ The jinn howled out loud and Dick and Kori heard it all from their tea party gone dry.

~Was that –

~He's…. Ah! Slade?! What about Aiden?? ~ Starfire gasped and let her eyes scan the spot where soon a new portal opened up.

~Aghnnn…You…. need to get back in shape, Wilson…really…~ Slade reprimanded himself with a groan. In one arm was Raku, and the other was a dazed Aiden in his collared new look.

~Wait! ~ Raku gasped. ~ The chain was no –

Slade was tugged along with Aiden's body, which had not been set free from Ignito's spell.

~Cut it off!! ~ Slade shouted at the timid jinn, but Raku was deathly still afraid. Afraid of making this part…. he'd played, much worse….

He shook and his head wagged back and forth frantically. His breathing was uneven but no magic came from him somehow.

~I…don't know how! –

~RELEASE HIM!!~ Starfire broke her binds as Ignito's power was spread pretty thin already. She and Dick both tugged at the men, fighting to have the gate stay open as well.

~No!! ~ Slade pushed them away, taking with him Aiden as well. The blonde chosen shouted through the void - less dark, ~ I'll fight! Pleas…Raku!! Warn –

The gate shut and with Slade with Aiden now on their way to the bottom. A place meant for a two on one match in wonderland…. without a way back was about to begin. Starfire fell to her knees as the void they were in began to slowly fade to white. Until they could spot a milky way system….

~Dick...Kori??? Dudes! Are they…. –

~No…. I can sense them. They're not hurt. Not, all of them…. ~

~Clear then?? Do we bring them back to –

A shuddering gasp as Dick Grayson was the first to rise. ~Aiden! ~ He called, but the faces of his comrades only showed back. He blinked, seeing that they had made it back without –

"Kori? What…Wait! We're still talking in –

"That's why you gotta cool it, man." Cy put a hand onto Dick's shaken blade. "Batman is here too. We made sure ta –

"Aiden…. A- And Slade, he has them…" Dick wiped his brow clear and sat up some more. The med bay…Starfire ha –

~Let me out!! I don't belong here! My king needs –

"Quiet!! You made a war happen and we're supposed to trust your sorry ass to apologize?? Don't think so."

Wally flicked the containment orb that Raven was helping to maintain with Manhunter's power.

"The Gemini boy was the start of all of this?" Hawkwoman looked over the villain, who did not seem to be any less of a threat than a hairless rodent. ~I'm serious!! You can't take me away! I keep the balance! I need to see my ruler! Please!! ~

"NO." Superman and Bruce got up to silence the nagging daemon as well. "My family was almost killed because of your ruler. I want you to tell us; what are you after? Raku isn't just a mess, we had to disrupt the cosmic order according to a spirit ally's intel. We are the cause of you being shoved up in a cage so talk, if you want to get to back o fixing what YOU helped cause."

~Idiot. ~ Growled the Gemini brother. ~Without the king AND his aspect of darkness, you have left us to rot! The real rulers will come and smite you all! I was freed to keep the scapegoat in that boy as unaware of his role as possible. Why not? He let me live, which means that the true ruler of spirit and man is –

"Tell us WHO!" Superman used his eyes to scare the daemon male witless.

~ Then, you really wanna know... Alright…. the Goddess….~ It hissed, ~ Of War. Athena, to be exact. My creator's sane addition to the Gods' pantheon! Now all mortal and extra – being; Rejoice! For our worlds shall be rebuilt thanks to...~ The snickering psycho pointed to the boy who was sleeping on a cot where the kids were.

~ YOU! ~ A grin so wide and dastardly lay painted across that bleach white complexion. ~ The king is dead! Long live the rule of the mother goddess once again!! ~ It bellowed out proudly.

"Oh, no…" Diana's face show from a crack in the door to the med bay.

She looked as death itself.
