Chapter 6

I knew I was dreaming as I watched a young lady, who looked very familiar, breathed heavily in pain. It looked as if she was in labor. She held onto her stomach as she walked around an unfamiliar room when the doors slid open to a familiar man, with long silver hair, dressed in white imperial armor, walked into the room. "Rin, is it time?" The gentle soul reached the young lady and placed a hand to her enlarged belly. "Are you in labor?"

"Mhm, I'm just waiting for Kagome and Lady Kaede," such a strong young lady. Stronger than me.

"You should be laying down!" The heavenly man led the young woman named Rin, who I believed I dreamt of before, though she died in this man's arms, towards a large futon on the floor, surrounded by large pillows, and layers of colorful blankets.

"I'll be okay, Sesshomaru," she smiled so beautifully to the man I could tell she loves dearly. "I don't mind waiting. Kagome and Lady Kaede are gathering everything that they'll need for when the twins will be born. They expect some time tonight."

"I would rather if you rested and not be on your feet till it's time," he tried again to have her lay down. "Will you lay down?"

She refused to lay down, "though I'm in pain, I'd rather walk around. Please?" She picked up this hand and kissed his palm. "Please, Sesshomaru? Kagome said it helps progress the delivery."

His held hand found her warm rosy cheek, "we'll walk around the castle once, then you'll spend the rest of that time resting."

Rin all but smiled, "will you relax with me afterward?" Would he? I hope he does.

"Until you are comfortable. Then I will leave you to rest," Her eyes lit up with joy.

"Thank you, Sesshomaru," their faces leaned into each other when a bright light appeared before they could kiss, and the sound of my alarm on my phone blared off in the background…

…I shut that off, remained where I laid, and reminisced about the dream I just had. I still don't understand these dreams and the meaning behind them. They were always the same people. A young lady who looks just like me and the striking man… he looks so much like Towa and Setsuna's father. They even had the same name, which I find ironic. But they can't be the same people. The people I dreamt of looked to be from a different time period. A time period I wish I had been born in. To wear different types of robes in the most beautiful fabric every girl could dream of wearing in that time period.

When I looked at my phone again, it was just a few minutes past six and I made the decision to get up and take my time to get ready. Though I am in pain, I know I could pull through the day, and manage to smile through it all. I also wanted to leave early, deposit my money into the bank, drop off my prescriptions at the pharmacy, and hopefully get to work a bit earlier than my students. Something told me Towa and Setsuna would show up early so they could talk to me. Which I don't mind. I still want to apologize for what happened last night.

I took that time slowly to get dressed and wear the clothes I own that will cover my cuts and bruises. So, a full pants suit for today. When I was done and ready to go, I took that time getting down from the second floor of my apartment and making my way across the courtyard where I found students from all the different schools in this area, heading out. None of them were my students. These students went to public school, and I taught at a private school.

I hailed for a taxi and love and behold it was Genta. "Hey, Aya… wow! Are you okay?" Can he tell I had a rough night?

"I will be," do I tell him? "I broke up with Osamu last night," I am glad this day has finally come. "I need to stop at two places if you don't mind before my third stop at the school."

"Really?" He started the drive, "I don't mind, where to?" He's such a dear friend.

"The bank first," he knows which one I go to since he's brought me before. "Yeah… he wasn't the one for me." I don't know if I should go into detail at this time.

"Man, I'm sorry… wait! Were you the one who was assaulted at your night job last night?" He knows!

I bit my lip, "...yeah. How do you know?" I'm totally confused.

"It's in the morning paper. It didn't say your name, but it said a young woman was assaulted, and there's a photo of the asshole from the jail." I need to pick up a paper later. "Here!" Never mind.

I took the paper and saw the photo that sent shivers down my spine. He looked cold blooded in the eyes that read revenge will follow. I had to look down to read the news article.

Last night at about eight in the evening, a man by the name of Hayashi Osamu, attacked a young woman inside Aragawa, by throwing her across the room with such force, causing a table to break and a handful of dishes. Sources say the man was after money from the girl we believe to be his girlfriend.

Another source said that Hayashi Osamu was stopped by a man by the name Chinen Sesshomaru, a civil litigation lawyer at one of the top law firms here in Japan. It was reported that Mr. Chinen took action immediately when he watched the female victim being thrown across the room by Mr. Hayashi who then pulled out a dull knife and was ready to use it. Mr. Chinen managed to stop the culprit before he could attack the female victim again by breaking the culprit's wrist and restraining his arms behind his back until he could be arrested by Tokyo police. Both the victim and culprit were transported to separate hospitals to be evaluated. Mr. Hayashi was then officially arrested after his release from the hospital.

Police also stated upon Mr. Hayashi's arrest, they found multiple weapons on his person that were unregistered and had found a handful of drugs worth an estimated ¥100,000. If convicted, he could receive ten years or more for drug possession, possession to distribute illegal narcotics, including assault and property damage. His bail is set at one million yen.

I stopped right after there, "wow." It was all that I could say. I really was safe. Osamu knew no one that had one million yen. He will sit in jail till his set court date. That is so relieving that I could cry tears of joy, but I won't.

"Aya, are you going to be, okay?" Genta is so caring.

"Yes, I will be. It's just a lot to take in after the ordeal I had gone through during the three years of dating Osamu. Now that it's over, I can really focus on myself and my future." I went on explaining what I dealt with and how I hid everything.

"Aya, I wished you would have told me sooner. I would have put him in his place!" He's too kind. "But I hope he gets whatever is thrown at him."

"I hope so two." But part of me thinks he'll get a lesser charge and put on probation.

Genta and I talked about other stuff than my ordeal last night up until my last destination for my day job. "Have a good day, Aya."

"You, too." Today after work will be the newest step into my life.

It fell late into the evening and the sound of newborns finally ringed through the castle. Strong cries of newborns, my children, my twins. Rin was now the mother she dreamt and talked about since the year we wedded. A mother of two and I was now a father.

I didn't need to be summoned to see my wife and children. It was my home, and I would see them as I please. Rin's birthing room was nearby as I could hear the tiredness in her voice. She needed rest, but knowing her, she would wait till I saw our children before she slept. She would want us to spend a few minutes alone being a family of four. I would grant her that wish.

The section Rin gave birth in, was on the other side of our home. It was the room that was once her room when she started to live here. It would be our children's room for when they are old enough not to have to sleep by our sleeping quarters. Then when they are much older, they would be given their own rooms. One of them would receive Rin's room.

As I neared her old room, "Is Sesshomaru coming?"

"Will retrieve him shortly, Rin. We just want to get you and the girls settled first," Kagome spoke as I almost reached the doors.

I have twin daughters.

"He won't mind. Please, could you bring him?" If she wants me to be with her, then she'll get her request.

I slid the doors open to find them placing Rin back down on her now clean futon. They all turned and looked my way. But my focus was on Rin and my daughter's that now laid beside her. "Lord Sesshomaru, were almost done. If you don't mind waiting…"

"No! Please, Sesshomaru. Please stay?" She held her hand up for mine. I walked into the room, ignoring the other two, and taking my seat beside Rin and taking her hand. "Thank you," a tear released from her eye that I wiped with the sleeve or my haroi.

I ignored whatever they had to do to finish their work. I just kept my focus on my family. I found a clean cloth, dipped it into a clean bowl of water, and wiped Rin's forehead. She surely enjoyed it. She allowed her eyes to close as I kept going over her skin with the heated water.

When they were done, "we'll be back later to check on you," the elder Kaede walked towards the door.

"Yes! We'll be back soon. Get your rest, Rin," Kagome walked out the door behind the elder, leaving Rin, and I to be alone with our daughters.

I laid up against Rin, while our daughters whose names I don't know yet, laid on the other side of her. "Have you named them?"

"I'm still deciding," her eyes remained closed as she breathed through the pain she still must feel. "I can't believe today has finally come for me to be a mother, Sesshomaru."

"You became a mother that day you found out you were pregnant, Rin."

"But it felt like a dream that day, but it feels so real right now, Sesshomaru." Her eyes opened and her lips turned upward. "What do you think we should name them?"

I looked towards my daughters. One had silver hair like mine and the other had Rin's hair. "Who was first born?" I'd rather if Rin named them.

"The one who reminds me of you of silver," her lips remained in the same upward position. "She was the one I felt kicked the most."

I looked towards my eldest daughter. A true fighter ran through her blood. A born leader, "Towa shall be her name," a strong child deserves a strong name.

"Towa," Rin's expression never changed. "My darling, Towa." She looked to her right at our second born, "Setsuna, shall be the one who reminds me of me's name."

"Setsuna," if that is Rin's wish for our youngest daughter, it shall be her name.

She looked back towards me, "it was my mother's name."

"Then shall your mother's name live on." A small tear left her eye.

"Thank you, Sesshomaru." When I leaned in to give the one thing she adores most, a blaring light came about, and the sound of an alarm came too…

…I awoke in my bedchambers alone once again. Another dream of Rin of one of the many memories she cherished. That night she gave birth to Towa and Setsuna. The first night she stayed awake to keep watch of our daughters. A night she refused to sleep. The first night I stayed awake with her.

I turned my head to the empty space that has been empty for over four-hundred years. The space that will never be allowed to be shared for anyone else. An empty space that will only carry the scent of Rin of what I've placed there. A scent that will never be replaced by anyone.

I laid here long enough, shut my alarm off, and proceeded doing the usual steps I do to get ready for the day. My day at work will be finishing up the paperwork for the rest of my clients, but mostly Aya. Her case was my main focus today. I will make sure all will go as planned.

When I slipped my shoes on, and clipped my shirt cuffs into place, I heard the girls stop outside my room, "Chichue, are you ready to go?" Towa called on the other side of the door.

"Go on to school, girls." I still need time to myself.

"Okay, we'll see you later," they both walked off in the direction to the front of the castle.

I texted Jaken to take the girls to school and come back to retrieve me afterward. I was in no rush to get to work. I just needed time to myself. I still haven't recollected what happened last night. It didn't seem real that Rin's reincarnation had come back. I feel like when I see Aya later she will be a different person and not be the one who I saw last night. Her scent will be different, including her voice. She would be just a regular person I saved from an unfortunate doom.

Thinking of last night, my teeth gritted hard, and how I still wanted to annihilate that man Aya called her boyfriend. Though she doesn't know his true self of him being a demon. A demon I knew I have met in my past, but still can't figure out who he truly is. I will find out soon. I will visit the jail later tonight. A jail where police I've known for years are demons in disguise, house criminals, who are demons themselves.

After tonight, Aya's life will be put on the right track. Starting with helping her find a better place to live. The place she lives in now is nowhere safe. She needs a home that will not collapse on her at any time. A home she can call home and not have to worry about the dangers in a lower income community. A place where she can breathe and live happily. The new apartment building that was being built by the girls' school was having their open house this week. I will ask if she would like for me to accompany her. My goal was to help get her into a new place before the month was over.

When I reached the door of my room, Jaken had sent me a text stating that he had just dropped the girls and was on his way back. I didn't even need to respond. I just made my way upfront on this somewhat sunny day.

I met Moroha by the lockers where we exchange our shoes by running quickly. Setsuna just took her time walking here. "Hey, Towa. Why the rush?"

"Hey," I had to catch my breath. "I wanted to get to class before anyone else." I still wanted to see if Suzuki-senpai was alright.

"Towa, stop rushing over to something that doesn't need to be confronted," Setsuna explained, pulling her school shoes from her locker.

"Hey!" I looked around to make sure no one was around. "We witnessed what happened last night, and I wanted to make sure she was alright today." I know Suzuki-senpai has to be in some pain after being thrown by a complete asshole.

"Whatever, I'm going to class," she placed her street shoes in her locker, closed it, and walked off.

"What's with Setsuna?" Moroha had a bit of concern in her voice.

"After that first day we saw mom's reincarnation, she acts as if I'm going to set her and chichue up," I did plan too, but after what we saw last night, I wanted to hold off on that.

"Really?" We both watched Setsuna disappear behind a door.

"Yeah, I mean I wanted to, but that man who assaulted her, I believe was her ex-boyfriend. But it's hard to tell who he was to her," and I will not ask her. "Let's get to class." I could hear the other girls coming in behind us.

"Man, I wish I was there. I would have kicked his ass," she punched her hand, creating an echo sound.

"You would have been made to help protect Suzuki-senpai by my father's request." We caught up to Setsuna as she walked into the classroom, "good morning, Suzuki-senpai," I heard her greet our teacher.

I was right behind Setsuna when I heard, "good morning, Setsuna. And good morning to you too, Towa and Moroha." When I saw Suzuki-senpai, she had the brightest smile on her face, but I wonder if she is hiding the pain she is still suffering from?

"Good morning, Suzuki-senpai," we all bowed to her.

When I lifted my head, "how are you feeling today?"

"I'm fairing, Towa." She smiled though I could tell she wanted to lie down and rest more, "Girls, could you take a seat. I would like to talk to you before anyone else shows up." I knew what she was going to talk about.

We all took the seats that sat before her desk. She took her place in front of her desk, "I wanted to thank you both for the courageous act of protecting me last night from my ex-boyfriend." So it was an ex! I do hope he gets whatever is thrown at him. "The same for your father. It's not something you see every day, three individuals, protecting one human being." I agree. "Especially two amazing teenage girls."

"It's no problem, Suzuki-senpai. Our father taught us to protect and defend since we were young." Chichue wanted to make sure we knew every skill he learnt from his own father that died before we were even thought of. Even before he met mom.

"That's good."

Setsuna raised her, "any word on the man that hurt you?" So, she is curious?

"Yes, as a matter of fact." She picked up the morning paper that showed the man that hurt her last night. He looked even scarier. "He's facing a handful of charges, with ten plus years in prison."

"Do you think he'll serve that?" More curious, are you Setsuna?

"Well, from what your father told me last night at the hospital, Osamu could face ten years. But all of that is up to the judge and the jury." I hope he gets more than ten years.

"Our father is taking you as his client?" That's right! Setsuna doesn't know.

"He is. I'm supposed to leave here after school with you both and be brought to the courthouse this afternoon," gives me an idea. But I'll wait till later to ask. "We'll talk more about this later, girls." The sound of our classmates approached quickly.

It wasn't even ten in the morning and my phone had been ringing off the hook. Most were from people demanding that I take their cases after reading the news article from the incident last night. I declined them all and passed them off to my other colleagues. I don't need to add more people into my books. I've got enough on my plate. Tomorrow, I had a client who had been dealing with a messy divorce from her soon to be ex-husband finally come to an end. The man committed the worst case of indefinitely, leaving my client to raise their twin two-year old daughters, and a five-year-old son for his female co-worker who he impregnated.

As I sat here, part of me wanted to take Aya out to dinner so we could talk more about everything in private, but I don't want to overstep, and make her uncomfortable. But I would like to talk to her about what I thought of earlier this morning. If she allows me to escort her to look at apartments, I would like to see what her price range is first. I don't want to take the chance of her finding one that she falls in love with and couldn't afford.

The day proceeded to go by quickly and Jaken again sent me a text that he had picked up the girls and Aya and that he was on his way to my office. Good. I went ahead and sent a text to a dear old acquaintance who works at the courthouse to have the filing papers ready for Aya. I then sent a text to Jaken to take the girls home after he dropped Aya and I off here shortly. Towa and Setsuna don't need to be there since this is work related. But I can hear Towa asking to go out again for dinner after our meal was interrupted by that unexpected demon. She'll have to understand that this is work and I cannot be interrupted again.

I was down and outside within five minutes after receiving the text and Jaken pulled up against the curve. He got out, "I went ahead and dropped Towa and Setsuna off at home. Suzuki-senpai awaits you inside."

He opened the door, and I found her sitting on the other side. "Aya," I greeted her as I took my seat. "Are you okay after last night?" I could still smell pain on her, but she seemed all well.

"I'm still in a bit of pain, but not as much as I was last night," good. "Towa and Setsuna, made sure I was okay this morning too. They told me how you taught them the art of defending."

When Jaken was back on the road and the middle divider was up, "I did," something I taught them before Rin passed away. She was okay with me teaching them early when they were just three years old. I had given them each a wooden sword since they weren't ready for a real one. Plus, Rin warned me not to for their safety. "They still have more to learn that I want to teach them." After what happened last night, they need to really learn the art of defending.

"They are very fortunate to have a father like you," she smiled the same way Rin did.

I nodded to her compliment, "indeed." To change the subject, "Aya, if you don't have any other plans this evening, I would like to take you out to dinner so I can discuss more things with you."

"I have no other plans, but I hope I am not keeping you away from your wife and daughters?" I should tell her.

"No, you're not keeping me away. My wife passed away when the girls were young," I saw the sudden change in her eyes that I found her overlapping her soft hand onto mine.

"My condolences," I took her hand finally, not wanting to let go. She didn't even react to my touch. "I bet she was an amazing person."

"Thanks, and she truly was." I have never met another woman like her until now. You have come back to me Rin and you don't even know it.

Jenny Crum: And here's another awesome update. Sorry it took this long. Just didn't have the inspiration to work on it. Now I do! The news article said ten years, but who knows things could change! What kind of bonding do you want to see Sesshomaru and Aya to do? Not a couple yet, wink wink. Do you think Setsuna will come around and accept that her teacher is her mother's reincarnation? Do you think they will become a family? Let me hear your thoughts!
