Things with Edward were going surprisingly perfect. Him, being the traditional gentleman that he was, wanted to wait to take the next step in our relationship until after we were married to "protect my virtue." As much as I didn't want to wait, especially after everything we had been through, I eventually agreed knowing how important this was for him. Although I did get him to agree that we should "practice" a little bit, testing his control before the big night because he was afraid that he could hurt me. At first we started with small things, especially with the boot still on my foot, but we were able to slowly progress more after I got my boot taken off a month later.
Edward suggested that we get married on the Friday off before winter break so that he could take me on a honeymoon, although he refused to tell me where. I was surprised that Forks high gave their students an entire month off for winter break but I guess that's what happens when you're in this small of a town.
Alice had somehow convinced Charlie to let me spend the entire four weeks of break with them which meant that I would be celebrating Christmas with Charlie early today.
"Merry Christmas dad," I told Charlie as I placed the last plate on the table. I had cooked up a huge meal, more than enough to last Charlie for the next week at least. It was partly to thank him for letting me spend Christmas with the Cullens and partly because I was worried he'd be eating pizza and microwavable dinner all break if I didn't leave him at least some food.
"Merry Christmas, Bella," Charlie gave me a grateful smile. We ate our dinner making smalltalk, and Charlie told me all about the fishing trip he and Billy Black wanted to go on.
Afterwards, I handed Charlie his present which was a fishing hat with his name embroidered in it and a matching bag for all of his finishing supplies.
"Here, you go, Bells. This is from Phil, your mom, and me," Charlie hands me a small wrapped present.
I slowly unwrapped it, revealing a digital camera box.
"Thank you!" I wrapped my arms around Charlie's neck.
"We figured you could use it to take pictures of everything during winter break."
I didn't know how much I would actually be able to take pictures of, not to mention how many of those pictures I could show to Charlie but I promised him I would anyway.
The rest of the night went by pretty quiet, and before I knew it, I said goodnight and goodbye to Charlie and headed to my room. I would be leaving while he was off at work so I wouldn't be able to see him before I left.
When I got to my room, there was a note on my bed.
Bella,
Don't worry about packing. I've got everything covered. Besides, we cannot have you wearing your actual clothes can we?
By the way, Emmet and Jasper are having a hard time restraining Edward. He keeps trying to sneak away but we can't have any bad luck on the big day!
Your favorite sister,
Alice
I shook my head, smiling at Alice's letter. I tried to sleep but the mix of excitement and the unfamiliarity of not having Edward next to me made it hard.
Eventually I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I know, Alice is jumping up and down on my bed.
"Bella, Bella, Bella, Bella, Bella!"
"I'm sorry, I kept her home as long as I could," Rosalie came into the room, handing me an orange juice and granola bar.
"Thank you, Rosalie."
Alice impatiently waited for me to eat and then went right to work on my hair and makeup.
"Alice, what do I need this for? We're literally just having a pastor Carlisle knows come over to marry us. It's not even the big wedding," I complained. Jasper had been able to get the paperwork we needed to get the marriage approved for how young we both were. I hated that the legal age of marriage had changed but I was determined to still find a way around it.
"That doesn't mean you can look like you just rolled out of bed," Alice huffs.
Rosalie helps with my hair and Alice hands me a short white dress. I slipped it on,too nervous to even try to fight her that morning.
"Now for the shoes," Alice hands me a pair of white heels.
"Alice, I can't even walk in flat shoes. How the hell am I supposed to walk in those?"
"Just believe you can!"
"Okay, tinkerbell. There is no way I am wearing those shoes," I cross my arms. Rosalie was trying to hide her laugh in the corner.
"Well, do you have any other white shoes?" Alice matches my body expression.
"Of course I do." I walk right over to my close, open the door, pull out my white converse, and slip them on.
Despite the horror on Alice's face, I ignore all of her complaints and whining and somehow manage to make it to the Cullen's house in comfortable shoes.
Alice handed me a mini bouquet made of flowers from their garden and opened the front door. She had transformed the entrance of their house into a makeshift aisle, decorating it with flowers and lights. Edward stood next to the pastor and the rest of the Cullen family stood around him but I barely noticed.
I only saw Edward and it felt like we were the only two people in the world. I walked towards him, matching the smile on his face. I had never been one for attention, but the love and awe in Edward's expression helped me tune everything else out.
I reached him and took his arm, almost laughing, remembering how much I hesitated the first time he offered it to me. It amazed me how far we had come. I resisted the urge to lean in and kiss him as we faced each other. I stared into his eyes, feeling tears start to form from my happiness.
The pastor asked each of us to repeat after him and we did.
"I, Bella Swan, take you, Edward Cullen, to have and to hold, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish for as long as we both shall live."
Edward said his vows, his eyes bright with intensity.
"May I have the rings?" The pastor asked. Emmet came up and handed him both rings.
"With this ring, I wed thee," Edward slipped the wedding band around my finger.
"With this ring, I wed thee," my voice was soft, holding all of the emotion I felt for him.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife-"
I launched myself at Edward, pressing my lips to his. He caught me, eagerly responding by deepening the kiss.
"You may now continue kissing the bride," The pastor chucked.
The Cullen's all cheered and whooped, clapping as Edward and I slowly pulled away.
"I love you," I told him.
"I love you more," he whispered.
"Doubtful," I beamed at him.
"I now present for the first time Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cullen."
We were congratulated by all of the Cullens before Edward promptly whisked me away to a car.
"Where are you taking me?"
"It's a secret, Mrs. Cullen," Edward winked at me.
"Oh come on, please?" I trailed my hand up his leg, drawing circles.
"Bella," Edward groaned.
"Fine," I gave up.
We took a couple planes, another car, and a boat before finally arriving at a gorgeous island. I could see a house just a little ways up the beach.
"What is this place?" I gasped.
"Isle Esme. Carlisle got it for Esme as a gift. She's letting us use it for the honeymoon." Edward kissed me before hopping out of the boat.
"Wait right here."
In a blink of an eye, he had moved all of our luggage into the house and was standing in front of me.
Edward picked me up bridal style and walked to the house, standing in front of the threshold. He opened the door with one hand before turning back to me.
"I love you, Mrs. Cullen."
"I love you, Mr. Cullen,"
Edward stepped into the house and put me down. I looked around and it was amazing. Everything had a tropical feel to it, decorated to perfection, probably by Esme herself. The house itself was fairly hot but with the contrast of Edward's cold body, it was perfect.
"Would you like a tour of the house?" Edward asked, his arms wrapped around me.
I turned in his arms to face him. "Maybe a little later. But right now, I would like a tour of the bedroom," I looked up at him through my lashes, suddenly feeling shy.
He lifted me up to kiss him and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He quickly walked to the bedroom. I was barely able to acknowledge the huge size of the room before Edward placed me down onto the bed.
We took our time, taking off our clothes and just being with each other for the first time as a married couple.
Let's just say that night, we put all that practice over the last couple of months to good use.
