Hey everyone! As I was writing this, there were scenes that I had thought about including but eventually decided o take out. This is one that I has started to write but ultimately decided it didn't add as much I had wanted and removed it. This would have been right after Bella meets Jacob and Billy for the first time. Enjoy!
The next couple of months passed quickly and luckily there were no more awkward encounters with Jacob. I mean don't get me wrong, he seemed like a nice kid, but he was a little forward and I didn't want to be rude. I was so happy having Edward with me again and now having befriended the Cullens who had really become like a second family to me. Even Renee noticed the drastic change in me and stopped suggesting that I go back to Arizona.
Really, the only downside to being here was the freezing weather, which was justified when I started to catch a cold one day when it had started to get even colder with reports of possible snow.
"I'm fine Edward," I told him. It was obvious I had a stuffy nose from my voice. I leaned my head against my locker to try to stop my headache.
"Please take my jacket, Bella," Edward had already taken off his winter jacket.
"But you'll be cold."
"Vampires don't get cold, love. We are cold." He draped the jacket over me and I was immediately encompassed by his scent.
"Than-" I couldn't finish before I started having a coughing fit.
Edward disappeared and was back within seconds with a bottle of water. He opened the lid, handing it to me and I gave him a weak smile as I gratefully took it
"Bella I should be taking you to the emergency room or something," Edward's face was clearly panicked.
I giggled. Well at least I tried to, but I think it came out as more of a grimace. "Are you sure you went to medical school? I do not need to go to the ER over a little cold."
"A cold can turn into something much worse." I don't think we're talking about me anymore.
"I'm sorry Edward. I know after what happened to you and your parents that you get worried. You can take me to Carlisle?" I suggest as I wrap my arms around him, leaning in. It was both as a comforting gesture to him, and also for a way for me to cool down. I'm pretty sure I had a fever.
"Although, I would much rather have you for my doctor." I lean up to kiss him, but it only lasts a few seconds before I start coughing again. Gross. Boy, was I glad Edward couldn't get sick anymore.
"Sorry," I blush.
Edward moves a strand of my hair from my face.
"Don't be," he lightly kisses my temple. "Alice called Carlilse and he's a little busy for the next few hours but he said he can check on you when he gets back to our house. So in the meantime, I'm taking you home."
"But school-"
"You are more important. Besides, Alice says you won't miss anything important anyway," Edward reassures me.
