Limited Moon
There are many things that are believed about Gaia. The best known is that only Ancients can hear or speak with her. This is both True and false. It is true that only the Ancients can speak with her however everything that lives upon Gaia's surface Can hear her.
Now the vast majority of people don't know what they are hearing; most of the time it's just a feeling or twinges of their conscience. Sometimes it manifests as actions and words. It happens when a major event is coming. Of course, you have to remember that Gaia's sees differently and may be speaking to Someone in the past or future.
Such a thing happened in a time of strife for a dying people.
"Alga, run!, shouted Seto, "They're breaking through."
Alga raced to the front of Cosmo canyon. There she could see the Gi charging up the steps. Hurriedly she grabbed Nanaki and pushed him at Bugenhagen. "Take him and hide. Seto and the clan will hold off the GI."
Bugenhagen grabbed the cub and took off for his home. It was high enough in to canyon that the enemies would not reach. As he ran, he grabbed the other villagers as well.
"Alga, someone needs to check the back of the canyon." Screamed a clan member, "There is a lot here but not enough to be the whole tribe."
Alga flinched. If the Gi found the back entrance it could be over for them. She turned and ran to where Seto was. "Seto, the Gi may have found the back entrance. We have to guard it."
"I'll check. If they have, I'll hold them off."
"Take the Limited Moon. If you don't you won't succeed." Cried Alga.
Seto took the clip and ran to the doors guarding the entrance to the back labyrinth. As soon as he arrived, he heard the Gi chants echoing in to labyrinth. Seto took a deep breath and opened the doors. Once on the other side he sealed them and placed several DNA and magic locks. Hopefully, that would hold the Gi if they got passed him.
As the four legged being moved through the twists and turns of labyrinth he found Gi patrols and scouts and eliminated them. When he reached the top, he saw a massive army waiting to enter.
"Not on my watch and over my rotting corpse."
He then started attacking and flinging spells. He was hit with many poisoned arrows but he kept fighting. He could feel his strength waning.
"Gaia, Minerva hear my final plea. Give me the strength and power to protect my people," Seto cried as the last of his strength. Once he finished, he felt a surge of power and he cast a final spell.
"Cosmo Memory." Seto howled.
The sky turned dark and a red planet surrounded by stars appeared. It crashed into the hoard of Gi and when the light returned there was nothing but barren rock and a single stone statue of Seto.
Cosmo Canyon after clearing the Gi cave
Nanaki stared at the statue of his father. For so long he had believed him to be a coward. Now he knew what sacrifices his father had made. Making a decision he climbed to the ledge where the statue stood. Arrows protruding from it.
"I'm sorry, Father."
"I should have searched for answers instead of taking the easy path. I know now that I need to grow stronger and embrace who I am."
"I will go with Cloud and the others to save Gaia and stop Sephiroth from destroying everything."
"I will make you proud and live up to the legacy you have left me." Turning to leave Nanaki heard a quiet growl. Looking back at the statue he noticed something sparkling in the stone mane.
He moved closer and gasp. Untouched by the poison and shining like a gem was the Limited Moon. The sacred clip of his tribe. Only true warriors could wear and use it. Taking a deep breath, he moved the clip from his father's mane to his. He felt a click as if something was finally in place.
Gi Cave Entrance
"Rejoice, for another has chosen the path."
Everyone jumped and looked at Cloud. He stood rigid with blank eyes staring upward. Before anyone said anything, Nanaki exited the cave.
"Everyone ready to go. We've got a mad man to stop," stated Cloud. The group exchanged looks and followed the spikey haired teen out.
Bugenhagen shook his head, "So you have found you champion and even now you arm companions to help him."
The elder stood at the top of the stairs and watched as the group of warriors drove off.
"Minerva give them strength."
