True to his word, Jack moved in with Les and Davey that night.

"Now," Jack said, "Let's get one thing clear here. We is a family. We all takes care of each odda.""

Les grinned.

"I like that," Davey said, "I completely agree with you."

"So," Jack began, "Is you hungry, Les?"

"Starving," Les said.

Davey ruffled Les' hair.

"We don't have much," he said

"Ah we'll go shoppin' tomorrow," Jack said, "Meanwhile we'll goes out for dinna."

"Can we go to the deli," Les asked.

"Sure," Davey said.

"Sounds like a plan," Jack added.

Jack ruffled Les' hair.

"Why dontya go get ready," he suggested.

Les ran to take a bath.

"So Davey," Jack said, "I wanna talk to ya bout somethin, I think Les ought to go to school."

"He should," Davey agreed, "But school costs money. We can't afford it."

"It's only $45 a week," Jack said, "I make that."

"Jack, we need money for food, rent, stuff for the place and so on," Davey pointed out, "How can we afford that too."

"We'll figure it out," Jack assured Davey.

Les came back.

"Hey Les," Davey said, "Jack and I were talking. Would you like to go to school?"

"Sure," Les said, "I'd also like mom and dad to be alive again but that won't happen either."

"I miss them too kiddo," Davey said, "But Jack said you can go to school."

"My friends go to school," Les said.

"That's only one good thing about going to school," Jack told him, "You'll make a lot of new friends. You'll learn new things… It'll be great."

"How are we going to afford it," Les asked innocently.

"That's up to me," Jack said, "I have the money."

"That's up to all of us," Les corrected, "You said, we're a family. We take care of each other."

Davey smiled.

"Great," Jack said, "Well dat means we get to take carera you toos"

"I'm hungry," Les said, changing the subject.

"Come on," Jack encouraged, "Let's go."

The walk to the deli took about 2 minutes. Once there, Jack ordered a Pastrami sandwich. Davey got a hot dog and Les got a hot dog with fries.
