[Midoriya Residence, First day at UA, 7 am]
Izuku woke up to his limited edition All Might alarm clock, which he got on his 8th birthday. He looked around his room for his watch, which he put somewhere last night. He and Mei were chatting till 1 am in regards to their excitement about their respective courses. Mei had already planned her first set of inventions: a revision of her current goggles including night vision, thermal version, and a more compact design.
An x-ray mode was planned to come later but Izuku was hesitant, after a certain incident that occurred between the duo that was x-ray related. Her next invention was some smart glasses for Izuku, giving him the ability to pull up the internet holographically, as well as night vision & thermal vision. When Izuku mentioned x-ray for his glasses the debate got worse, which led to both teens disconnected immaturely.
Izuku felt terrible for acting so childish but then remembered he was dealing with Mei, the same girl who built a working portal gun just to destroy it because someone might profit off it who wasn't her. Izuku walked towards his spy watch (name still pending), and pressed the call button, there was silence for 2 minutes and just as he was about to hang up, it got through.
[Hey Izuku! Finally up are we?] asked Mei, whose voice seemed far away. Izuku could swear he heard running water in the background, but ignored it.
[Yeah Hatsume, I just wanted to apologize for making you mad and being hypocritical yesterday. It's been really eating at my conscience] said Izuku sheepishly, then he heard it again. Just what was she doing? He hoped she wasn't talking to him while in the restroom.
[I forgive you dummy. Just gimme a bit to finish showering, I'll come by your place so we can get to school. I'll even wear the necklace you made for me] chuckled Mei.
Izuku blushed upon the realization hitting him that she was legitimately chatting with him while bathing. He was happy that she was gonna wear the necklace that he made. It was something that he made to symbolize their friendship.
It was a simple necklace with a rope looping into metallic symbols of a ratchet and star. Izuku told her that he had to get ready himself and hung up. After Izuku took a shower and ate a delicious breakfast made by his mom, Izuku prepared to go before he was stopped by his mom.
"Izuku, I'm so proud of you! You got into your dream school and are one step closer to achieving your dream. Have a great first day and keep Mei out of trouble, okay?" asked Inko worriedly. Izuku just chuckled as he imagined Mei blowing up the support lab on her first day.
"Yeah, I'll try but no promises. See you later, mom!" said Izuku walking to the front door. The second he opened it, Mei grabbed his arm and dragged him onto her…Hoverbike model 2.0? Model 1.0 was a tragedy that Izuku would rather forget about, but he was still shocked she managed to remake it!
It was a motorcycle, but it ran her own uniquely developed power source. It could go up to 250 mph, and flying in the air was smooth, although it was scary for the duo at first. Mei gestured for him to get on as she pointed at her watch, it was 8 am! They only had 30 minutes to get to their classes, so not wanting to be late, he got on the backseat & held on for his life due to Mei being such a reckless driver.
"Hang on tight, the turbulence might be annoying!" yelled Mei, donning a biker helmet as she tossed one to the green haired teen.
The bike started hovering as they sped through the air like a bullet. After more than 20 minutes of flight to avoid the early morning traffic, they arrived at UA. Mei landed the Hoverbike as the two hopped off it with their backpacks on. Once they were both off and rechecked that didn't forget anything, Mei pressed a brown button with a garage symbol on it, which would send it back home.
"Well stop standing there Izuku! We've only got ten minutes to find our classes, c'mon!" yelled the pink haired girl running toward the entrance. Izuku ran after her, still dazed by their flight, and noticed in the main hallway was a map of the school. He took a quick photo of it then entered Full Cowling. He ran up to Mei picking her up in his arms as he sped off towards the support course classroom.
"You could've warned me before you did that. I nearly dropped my phone, Izuku!" said Mei angrily, until she noticed that the boy was more focused on the map on his phone. Izuku stopped once they seemingly reached their destination, he put her down and started bowing profusely.
"I'm sorry about that. I just wanted to get you to your class first. I gotta go to my clas-" Izuku was cut off by Mei hugging him before rushing into her classroom happily. Izuku grinned while blushing a bit, turning around as he checked his watch, he had three minutes left. He sped off to class 1-A, hoping he wouldn't be in the same class as Bakugo.
Upon arriving at the giant doors of his class, Izuku looked in amazement as he wondered why it was so big, settling on it probably being built that size incase their were students with quirks that made them bigger than regular students. When he rushed through the door, he saw everyone turn to him and a hobo looking teacher glaring at him from the podium.
"First day and you're late, Izuku Midoriya" said the teacher angrily. Izuku quickly scanned the class spotting the mushroom girl from the exam, sitting by the window with an empty seat by her. He ran up to her, and she happily greeted him as he took a seat.
Some people he remembered from the entrance exam were muttering while staring at him, which made Izuku slightly uncomfortable as he wasn't used to the attention. He knew they would ignore him after they learned he was quirkless, he just hoped Ochako & Shroomy, he really should ask her for her name. After a while the class quieted down as their teacher began to speak.
"It took you eight seconds to quiet down. Time is a precious resource which you lot are happily wasting. You all aren't very rational" said the tired man. A majority of the class straightened up at his comment except a girl with long black hair tied in a ponytail and a boy with split white & red hair.
"I'm your homeroom teacher Shouta Aizawa" the man, as he dug his hand into his sleeping bag pulling out a pack of uniforms. Izuku pondered on what type of pro hero he was, obviously by the fact he was having trouble identifying him, he was an underground one.
"Change into these gym clothes quickly and head to the training grounds" said the man impatiently. Izuku was glad he took a photo of the school map, and led the class to the training grounds.
[Training Grounds, 8:50 am]
Izuku enters the training ground and is shocked at how open it is. His other classmates had varying reactions from non-expressive ones to shock, one reaction he knew and hated already was Bakugo fuming at his very existence.
"UA is well known for its freestyle education system, so we teachers can teach as we please. You are out here to take the standard non quirk allowed tests, however this time, you'll be allowed to use your quirks. Bakugo, how far could you throw in middle school?" asked the teacher.
"67 meters" replied Bakugo passive aggressively, as is his normal tone.
"Great, now use your quirk this time without leaving the circle. Give it all you've got!" said Aizawa. Bakugo stretched his arms before picking up the ball on the ground, wound up his arms and exploded the ball high into the air.
'Time to set off some fireworks' thought Bakugo grinning, Izuku could feel his sweatdrop.
"DIE!" screamed Bakugo, scaring half the class at his odd choice of wording, only Izuku really knew he meant it.
"It's important to know your quirks' limits. That's the rational step to figuring out what kind of heroes you'll be" said the teacher, showing the 705.2m on his phone.
Most of the class didn't hear the extra emphasis he put on the word quirks but Izuku did. He got a bad feeling that this man was probably suspicious of him for doing so well in the exam and probably wanted him to fail.
"WOW! This will be so fun since we can use our quirks!" exclaimed Ochako. Izuku was glad she was in his class, they texted in the morning about why he was arriving late.
"Alright! This will be so manly, getting to going all out and stuff" said a spikey, red haired boy excitedly. Izuku grimaced as he saw his teacher's face darken.
"Oh, this will be fun will it? You're here for 3 years to graduate as pro-heroes, and you think this will be fun and games?" asked the tired man, rhetorically with evident anger and annoyance in his voice. Izuku was glad he kept his mouth shut.
"Alright. The one with the lowest score across all eight events will be deemed hopeless. They will be expelled" said the teacher staring directly at Izuku, who shivered in response. Bakugo grinned watching him shiver in absolute fear.
'It's really all or nothing. How the hell do I fake a high score for the softball throw?! WAIT! T.D, can you hear me?' thought Izuku, slightly panicking. His stand appeared beside him awaiting its orders.
'When I throw the ball slowly levitate it once it's reached max height, then once you've reached your maximum range use Air Force' mentally commanded Izuku, praying his plan would work. If his teacher was skeptical and made him do it twice, he would just repeat it, no point holding back, he had to overcome this obstacle fate put before him.
"Your fate is in your hands. Welcome to the Hero Course" said the teacher with an evil shit-eating grin, pulling his hair up in amusement. Izuku put on a determined face as he clenched his fist, he had to pass this test.
{Intermission}
Quirk: Mushroom
Student: Kinoko Komori
{Faculty Lounge}
The skeleton man with blonde V-shaped hair, opens the hero course rosters. He pales seeing where the student who was a good candidate for his successor was in.
"Shota Aizawa's class…he will definitely try to get that boy expelled. Seeing as he had no qualms with expelling a whole class a few years ago. It says, he allowed them to return in the next semester, but he definitely won't let a quirkless boy come back. Young Midoriya…" said the skeleton man, smoke emitted from his body as he rushed to the training grounds.
[Back at the training ground]
"Go Plus Ultra, am I right? So bring your A-game, demonstrations over" said the tired teacher. The students all got ready for the test ahead of them.
Event 1: 50-Meter Dash
Izuku watched as a couple students attempted they're tests. The blue haired teen with engines in his leg breezed through the test easily, while the french boy from the exam failed to reach the goal as he stopped in the middle of his navel burst, falling hilariously on the ground groaning in pain. Izuku was fascinated by the way Ochako used her quirk for the test, lightening up her clothes and shoes to increase her speed for a better score on the test. When it was his turn, he was paired up against Bakugo, just his luck…
"Alright, ready? Go!" said their teacher. Izuku burst forward running as fast as he could without using Full Cowling. Bakugo released a set of explosions propelling through the air at ridiculous speeds. He reached the goal a second after Bakugo.
"4.13 and 5.13" said a tiny robot which recorded their scores. Aizawa frowned at hearing the green haired problem child did well, furthering his suspicions.
Event 2: Grip Strength Test
Izuku decided to use Full Cowling on this one. He scored a score of 150 kg, after fluctuating to the right amount of power that he needed to score a decent score. Aizawa was watching Izuku intently to see signs of a quirk because the boy was doing too well for his liking.
Event 3: Softball Throw Test
It was finally time for him to enact his big plan. Izuku steeled his nerves as he watched Ochako get an infinite on her test, it put a smile on his face to see Bakugo fuming that she beat his score.
"Izuku Midoriya, your test will be scored differently. Seeing as you're quirkless, I won't penalize you for doing horribly, however I want to see if you have any potential" said the teacher, yawning. Izuku's face displayed shock due to two things, he just casually mentioned his quirklessness, major dick move! Then there was the fact that the man actually wasn't going to purposefully penalize him for doing bad, he didn't expect this at all.
The class immediately went into an uproar. The fact that a quirkless person in the hero course felt like a sick joke, thought some of the students. Izuku could feel the cold judgment coming from the gaze of his peers on him. He wasn't phased at all and grinned at the fact he managed to do better than some of them. He looked at Ochako and Kinoko's reactions, whose name he learned during the roll call earlier.
Ochako was shocked, but gave him a thumbs up while Kinoko ran up and hugged him & good luck. She told him that she'd remain his friend whether he had a quirk or not, which caused the boy to tear up. Izuku was more determined to pass from his two friends' encouragement, regardless if he was now ousted as the black sheep of the hero course. Izuku stepped into the circle, summoning The Day at his side. Aizawa handed him a softball, and as Izuku finished stretching, he wound up his arm.
"SMASH!" exclaimed Izuku, throwing the ball as high as he could in Full Cowling. Izuku watched as the ball reached its maximum height then slowly was lifted up a little more rapidly by his stand. His stand then thrusted its arm forward at a high speed extending its range a bit then threw the ball straight, further increasing how far the ball went.
Izuku grinned, hoping that it looked believable and just looked like the wind helped him out. He looked at Aizawa, who was grinning in sheer amusement at what he just witnessed. He turned the phone to the rest of the class and Izuku watched as everyone's face slowly turned to shock, more than when Ochako got infinity. While it wasn't infinite, it was still good enough for Izuku.
"710m" said Aizawa, back to his normal expression. Half the class muttered about it being a mistake while others said he was lying about being quirkless. Kinoko ran up to the boy, congratulating him on his score while Ochako smiled as she patted him on the back. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the ice quirk user called Shoto Todoroki, glaring at him. It reminded him of Bakugo's angry glare, which confused the boy as he didn't even know how he somehow angered the guy.
"YOU DAMN NERD! I know you cheated somehow, Deku! You think you're better than me just because you cheated in this test, huh? Well, let's see you handle this!" shouted Bakugo angrily, glaring at the boy. Bakugo ran towards Izuku, attempting to set off an explosion on the boy's face. Izuku was about to dodge him, when Bakugo got wrapped up in their teacher's scarf, as it tightened around his waist. Aizawa's hair was floating in the air and his eyes turned scarlet red.
"WHAT THE HELL! Let me blow up this quirkless cheater! Wait my quirk isn't working and what the fuck is this thing made of?!" screamed Bakugo. Izuku was as shocked as him, until he looked at the teacher again. He was applying eye drops and his eyes turned from scarlet red to black again. Izuku then managed to figure out who he was!
"Y-Your the Eraser Hero: Eraserhead!" said Izuku in awe. Aizawa looked shocked that the boy knew who he was but just nodded.
"Jeez, could you not start a fight, it's only the first day and you're making me get a serious case of dry eye" exclaimed the tired teacher frowning. He pulled Bakugo in whispering something no one could hear, when he was done Bakugo was pale and went back to where he was standing before being annoyed.
[Corner the of UA building]
Unbeknownst to the class and tired teacher, an outsider witnessed the miraculous feat done by Midoriya. He saw how the ball levitated in the air then suddenly resumed its downward trajectory after moving forward in a straight line. It was truly bizarre!
'Are my eyes playing tricks on me?! Is Young Midoriya hiding a power or did he just awaken a quirk? No, I must have been seeing things, although if what I saw was correct, then he is hiding something. We need to have a private chat sometime, not just about my offer but this bizarre incident' thought the buff man hiding from the corner of the school building.
[Back at the training grounds, testing over, 10:15 am]
"Alright, here are your scores," said Aizawa, displaying the scores on a projector.
1- Momo Yaoyorozu
2- Shoto Todoroki
3- Izuku Midoriya
4- Tenya Iida
5- Katsuki Bakugo
6- Fumikage Tokoyami
7- Ochako Uraraka
8- Denki Kaminari
9- Kinoko Komori
10- Ejiro Kirishima
11- Mina Ashido
Izuku honestly was shocked as everyone, he somehow got third! This ruins his plan of not being in the spotlight, Izuku frowned. He noticed that in the last place was a girl named Toru Hagakure, he looked around for the invisible girl, she looked distraught about her placement as floating tears appeared. Izuku honestly was torn between laughing his ass off at the sight or helping cheer up the girl luckily he didn't have too.
"By the way, I was lying about expelling someone. That was just a rational deception to make you all do your best" said Aizawa, with eyes wide open like an owl and had a grin on his face. Izuku started laughing his butt off at the face he made, and took a photo as he planned to send it to Mei later. As he stood up, he noticed the perplexed looks that his classmates were giving him due to his unexpected outburst.
"C'mon, you can't tell me that his face wasn't funny?! You guys have no funny bone, huh?" asked Izuku to no one in particular. The class shrugged, as he groaned in embarrassment when a girl spoke up.
"I thought it was funny too, hehe" said the invisible girl, Toru. She giggled as she spoke, which made Izuku feel a little better.
"Of course, it was pretty obvious that he was trying to deceive us. Wait, did you all really not know? Maybe, I should have said something?" asked the raven haired girl with a ponytail, who Izuku learned was named Momo Yaoyorozu. He frowned and in unison with the class groaned a pained 'yes'.
"Anyways, we're done here. Go grab your syllabus in the classroom. Review it thoroughly" said Aizawa sternly, walking away from the training ground back into the building. The class sighed and followed his instructions, Izuku smiled while chatting to Kinoko and Ochako about the tests.
[Corner of UA building]
"Aizawa, you big fat liar! You were going to expel someone!" yelled the tall buff man. Aizawa turned to his side, staring into the man and then sighed.
"What do you want, All Might?" said the tired hero. The number one hero sighed after a minute of silence.
"I know about your history as a teacher, Aizawa. You expelled a class of first years because you saw no potential in them, am I right?" asked All Might, to which Aizawa nodded, wondering where the man was going with this.
"So, you saw potential in Young Midoriya! That's why you didn't expel him like you planned to" exclaimed the buff man happily, to which Aizawa grunted.
"As well? Picking favorites are we? Look, if he doesn't show me that he's progressing as a hero course student, I'll cut him loose. There's nothing crueler than letting someone chase their half baked dreams" said Aizawa sternly. All Might just nodded as he watched the tired hero walk away.
[End of the first day, 12:30]
As Izuku walked to the support course to get Mei, he pondered on if his actions were too suspicious. If he ever were to get caught by the rumored smartest being on the planet, his principal Nezu, then he'd be forced to go public on his stand. Hero Society would probably panic at the concept of a stand, whether it be the fact he had multiple abilities or the fact that his stand couldn't be contained or stopped. At least, he had Aizawa's erasure quirk as evidence that he is quirkless.
He finally arrived at the metallic door of the Support Course door. He knocked hesitantly until the door exploded on him, knocking him to the ground. Izuku was so shocked by the bizarre sequence of events that he didn't realize he was being crushed, and after realizing the fact, he tried to push the door off him.
He tried twisting the door knob part of the door to lift it off him but it felt weirdly soft. When he suddenly heard a feminine moan from somewhere in the cloud of smoke, it confused the boy. Once the smoke cleared, he saw that what was on top of him wasn't a door but Mei!
She was grinning but her face was completely red, as he noticed that his hands were on her chest. Izuku's face paled when it hit him that he had squeezed her chest, which was the cause of her embarrassment. He quickly removed his hands from her as he tried to apologize to no avail and to make matters worse, her whole class witnessed the entire thing.
"M-Mei, it was an accident. I swear!" stammered Izuku, trying to calm her down as she slowly got up off him. She began walking towards him as he crawled backwards, in fear.
"You know Izuku, I understand that my body is quite developed for my age. I understand you couldn't see what was on top of you, however, you know damn well what you just did! That felt wei-" she stops briefly before resuming.
"I'll only punch you once, alright? Resist and you might end up in Recovery Girl's infirmary, I'll go easy on you because you're my best friend. How's that sound as a compromise?" said Mei with an evil grin. Izuku gulped in fear but then again he had embarrassed her in front of her whole class. He walked up to Mei and closed his eyes, as Mei socked him in the face so hard that he still ended up in the infirmary.
That incident became known as "Mei's Doorknobs" and spread throughout the school quicker than he had expected, causing female students to stare at him wearily, while male students kept staring at Mei more, much to her slight discomfort. As they walked to the entrance of UA, Izuku introduced Kinoko to Mei and the two got along fairly well. Ochako had left earlier due to Izuku being unconscious in the infirmary.
"See you tomorrow, Komori" said Izuku, rubbing his cheek. Kinoko gave him a goodbye hug and walked to the train station. After that appeared the duo's ride, to the shock of everyone else at the entrance of the school, a two-seat motorcycle appeared, driven seemingly in autopilot and parked itself before the teens.
"Well, Izuku hop on" said Mei giddily, although he honestly was scared of flying with her again but he reluctantly got on. To everyone else, it looked like he was being held hostage, with the way she coerced him to get on as well as both teens' facial expressions.
"Hang on tight! Whoooo!" yelled Mei, as they sped off through the streets of Musutafu. Izuku grinned as his green coat flapped in the wind.
