I don't own Home Alone

Enjoy!

CrimsonCommander688: Hello there! Thank you for your reviews! Those two characters were an inspiration from Robert de Niro's and Ray Liotta's roles in Goodfellas. At that time of the characters' introductions, I couldn't think of any creative names so I just used the actors' names.

The moment that Kevin and Becky stepped foot in the plaza hotel, the two were amazed at how gorgeous it looked inside. The chandeliers, the rugs, the furniture, and every single decoration that was used in the hotel was something that even the McCallisters' wouldn't be able to afford. The siblings passed down the hallway and looked at a beautifully decorated Christmas tree with presents underneath. Visitors of the hotel walked by them as the employees carried their luggages to the rooms. No matter what the job was, it was important that hotel guests were given the upmost service from the staff. It was a very reputable hotel and the staff wanted to keep it at that.

"This is the greatest accident of my life," Kevin said. His mind was thinking of the possibilities at what he was going to do in this hotel. They were activities that did cost money, but he had his father's bag on hand along with a number of credit cards and money.

Becky couldn't help but giggle at her brother's words. She had to agree with them that this accident was something that her brother had hoped for and she was willing to enjoy herself. "So," she asked as she stopped walking and looked at her brother, "how are we going to get a room?" It was silly to ask her brother these types of questions because she could see that just from that shine in his eyes, he already had a plan formulating in his head.

Taking out his TalkBoy, Kevin replayed the tape of the commercial that he had recorded back home. The two listened to the announcer as he stated the phone number of the hotel. "Let's go over to the telephone booths," he said as they headed towards the opposite direction and into a room that had telephone booths in them. Kevin was glad that there was no one else in the room, otherwise the guests would be questioning as to why he would be talking to the hotel reception. He then turned his attention to his sister. "How is your 'mom voice?'" he asked her.

"What?" Becky asked with a raised eyebrow as she looked at her brother.

"Your 'mom voice,'" Kevin repeated to her, "We need to reserve a room. I can't make the reservation because they will know I'm a kid."

"And you think I'm not?" Becky asked him. When her brother only looked at her, she knew that it was a look that was telling her to do it. "Okay, what do you want me to say?" she asked as she went ahead and tried to imitate her mother's voice. "Good afternoon, I would like to reserve a hotel room."

Kevin made a face at his sister's imitation. It wasn't that great and it was a pitch too high. "No," he shook his head at her, "too much of a teenager. I'll do it," he said and climbed onto a stack of books, ignoring his sister's glare. Taking a hold of his TalkBoy, he held it close to his lips and began to record what he wanted to say. "Howdy-do..."

"Howdy-do," Becky whispered to herself and looked at her brother. They were pretending that they were here with their father and now they were also pretending that they were from a John Wayne movie. There were times where Becky didn't understand how her brother's mind worked and as of right now, she didn't want to know the answer to it.

"This is Peter McCallister, the father. I would like a hotel room please with an extra large bed, a TV, and one of those little refrigerators that you open with a key...credit card? You got it." Once Kevin had finished his recording he took the phone receiver in his hands and dialed the hotel's phone number.

With every movement that he did, Becky watched and was amazed and how calm he was able to move through this whole ordeal. If she was in his place, she knew that she would have been freaking out about everything and hoping that she wouldn't get in trouble. But Kevin...Kevin was a special child. Why didn't the rest of the family see that? She leaned against the wall and waited to see what would happen next.

Kevin held the receiver over to the TalkBoy and pressed play where a slow-talking voice began to replay as a conversation with the receptionist. Kevin made sure that he heard the words that the receptionist said as the slow voice droned on. Once the reservation was complete, the woman on the other end said, "thank you. Enjoy your stay."

"That we will," Kevin responded as he jumped off the stack of books that he had been standing on and approached his sister. "What did you think?" he asked her.

"I think you are scary sometimes," Becky simply responded him and was able to get a laugh out of him. "But very clever. Hopefully, we don't need to use it again."

Kevin knew that you could never be too careful when it came to being a kid and have to face the world alone. The TalkBoy had proven to be an important asset and the need came for it again, he was going to use it as much as he could. He stuffed the TalkBoy in his bag and adjusted his bag on his shoulders. "Let's go to our room," he said to Becky as they exited out of the telephone room and walked over to the main lobby.

As they passed by, Becky stopped and turned her head over to another room where it was filled with people dressed in a casual attire. 'Palm Court' the sign read that was set at the entrance of the room. From what she could see, people were happily speaking with one another and enjoyed their afternoon tea and sandwiches. If only breakfast at home was as fancy as this was, she would take her sweet time getting on the school bus. She took a step forward to go into the room but was stopped short by the court's hostess. "Do you have a reservation?" she asked Becky.

Rats Becky thought. At least she knew now what was needed before coming in here. "Not yet," she said to her with a nod of her head and then followed after Kevin. "Okay, tomorrow for breakfast we are coming down here."

Why come here when they had the privilege to order room service? Room service had more choices than a small dining court but Kevin was not going to worry about that now. They had a reserved room that they needed to go to and the first thing that he needed to do was to think of a story of why two kids were left in this hotel. For him, he knew that it was going to be easy. He just needed his sister to play along.
