Prompt 8: PLUNDER
"This is enough glimmer to pay for a new house!" Aurora exclaimed, pulling a handful out of the chest. "Oh, man, not to mention the gold."
River had completely ignored the currency, simply having Clementine pick up a couple of engrams she'd liberated from some of the Fallen pirates. "Eh, you get enough work, glimmer stops becoming a thing you think about."
Everyone in their little raiding party paused. Aurora furrowed her brows. "What does that even mean?"
"We're filthy fucking rich," Daniels deadpanned.
Hale rolled her eyes. "Did you guys not figure that out yet? Have you seen their apartment?"
Silas glanced between River and Daniels rapidly. "Wait, you guys are rich? Like rich-rich? How rich are we talking?"
River picked up an engram and shook it, despite the fact that she knew nothing was in it. She tapped on it with her nails, listening to the resonance before she chucked it to Kimi. "You'll like this one, I think. Silas - one of us has been part of the raid team for every world-ending threat since, like, Atheon. How much money do you think we have?"
"And Riv won a bunch of brand deals off her Crucible stats," Daniels noted, ticking off items on his fingers. "We also stay in rotation for strikes and missions, and I got that stipend for being the temporary Hunter Vanguard."
"I was on payroll for being Cayde's scout leader," River added. "And we made just so fucking much money when we were teamed up."
Everyone but Hale and Kimi were staring, aghast. Aurora had long since let the glimmer fall from her slack fingers. "That's insane."
"Jesus," Silas managed.
Kimi glanced up from her engram, which had decrypted into a nice bow. "You've literally seen how many sets of armor they have. What did you think was going on there?"
"And they live in the rich-rich apartments," Hale pointed out, her Ghost, Dawn, idly sweeping up small piles of glimmer and gold as they had this conversation. "Guys, come on."
Both Sparks and Honey, seeing Dawn, immediately copied the Titan's Ghost, almost vacuuming up money. Aurora shook her head. "I feel like I don't even know you guys."
"You're telling me!" Silas exclaimed. "I literally live with them and didn't figure it out."
"Okay, Silas, I'm just more surprised Sparks didn't know!"
"Please don't bring me into this," his Ghost deadpanned.
