Chapter 13, baby! Woo! One more episode before things get cracking! Ah, I can't wait and I hope you can't either! On with the story!
~"Snow day, hooray! So magical and new. There's so much we could do."~ Raph sang while pushing a large ball of snow down a hill, children playing and laughing in the park as well as couples and friends enjoying the beautiful blanket of snow covering the ground, dead trees and flora.
~"Snow day. No training only fun. We've only just begun. I'm glad I'm here with you."~ Leo followed suit, pushing a semi smaller ball while singing it rolling on a slide that sent the two objects in the air and down on to a joyful Mikey and Mayhem who were making snow angels. Mayhem poofed away leaving Mikey to take the hit.
~"Snow day. Hooray! Barometric pressure is so low but my heart is all aglow revving up my tech-boooo~" Donnie had an evil glint in his eye as the chainsaw revved up and began slicing at the snow, letting out a laugh as the excess snow fell leaving Mikey unscathed in a Jupiter Jim snowman, he adding the finishing touches while singing, ~"Snow day, our snowman is the best. "Jupiter Jim' fans will attest. Oh me gosh, coat's a vest!"~ The sleeves of Mikey's coat shredding into pieces.
~"Snow day, hooray! We all should be so proud. Snow day, all together sing out loud."~ April added the finishing touches of the helmet, everyone gathering around and singing, ~"Snow day, hooray!"~
"Great job, fam. And Donnie, I guess." Leo stared up at their masterpiece, tilting his head towards his brother for a moment with a smug smirk.
"If I weren't so enchanted by the beauty of our replica Jupiter Jim I'd probably say something like, "Look over there-push!"" Donnie shoved Leo into the snow.
"And for the cherry on top, this flag from "Jupiter Jim Sails the Seven Galaxies." Raph placed a flag with the cover of the movie on its staff.
"Best "JJ" movie of all time, baby!" Mikey added in.
"What the what? Hold up, skip." April threw the flag at Raph's face before getting close to him with her arms crossed, ""Jupiter Jim's Pluto Vacation 4" is the best JJ movie of all time."
"Ranked. By us. Just now. Sooo it's basically-officially-no-arguing." Donnie added in, Mayhem poking his head out from on top April's head.
It took a second before Mikey and Raph began laughing out loud.
""Jupiter Jim's Pluto Vacation 4?" Where JJ spends the entire movie searching for ice before realizing the surface of Pluto is ice?" Leo asked with a raised brow and grin.
"Uh, yeah! And every time we watch it you three laugh your heads off." April pointed out.
"Because Raph always falls asleep and breaks something with his face!" Mikey countered, laughing with Leo as a flashback comes to mind of Raph doing so, this particular time being the projector.
"Oh yeah! My face takes damage like a boss! Leo, hit me!"
"Oh, please let me!" Donnie was already in the air, weapon out, to strike with the happiest smile on his face til his brothers tackled him away, shouting, "No!"
While they were arguing suddenly they heard screams and shouts of fright, this getting everyone to stop and look in the direction to see vines shooting up in the sky, tangling themselves around the other side of the park as if creating a dome.
"Ugh, what now?" Leo asked, standing up straight.
"Can't these villains ever take a break? It's a snow day!" Mikey shouted, flailing his arms.
"We should totally check it out." April said with a grin, Mayhem nodding in agreement.
"Fine. We'll put our argument on hold for just this moment." Raph added.
"More like proving you wrong but whose asking." Donnie held up his tech-bo all of them making their way to the vine dome, he cutting a path til they came upon Kara, Baron, and the gargoyles seeming to be talking.
"You don't think there's mystic metal around here, do ya?" April asked in a whisper, all of them ducking down to not be spotted.
"Who cares? It's our day off." Leo grumbled while rolling his eyes.
"Shh! They're saying something!" Raph hushed Leo by shoving his hand in his face, knocking him over.
"You having me do this is a waste of my time." Baron said, staring down at her though she was too busy looking over the area, her eyes lighting up spotting a frozen lake, "And yet you did it anyways...thanks." She gave him a small smile, carrying ice skates in her lower hands wearing a brown wool cap and earmuffs, her antennas tucked carefully inside the cap, shaded ski goggles, lavender plaid hem overall dress with a gray sweater and matching leggings with light brown snowboots and matching gloves. "You know...since the Foot have found another piece of the armor..why not take a day off? It's a beautiful day, after all." She lifted her head up only to remember the vines and why he put them up in the first place.
"No thanks. I have important matters that need to be dealt with." He turned to leave, holding his arm up to make a portal but Kara wasn't having none of that. A small smirk itched her face as she bent down making two snowballs in her hand and threw the first one, the smirk widening when he dodged as she would predict and threw the second one, hitting him in the back of the head, giggling to herself.
He turned his head slightly, glancing at her with an unamused look, but she was already in attack mode sending a barrage of snowballs his way. Expecting this, he smirked using his vines to block her attacks while making his own snowballs with his telekinesis and throwing them at her. A small laugh came from her as she dodged his snowballs, getting hit in the leg and shoulder, her laugh growing slightly as she manages to hit him too, even Muninn and Huginn were joining in on the fun.
It was when they simultaneously threw their last snowball that hit each other in the face, both falling to the ground. Kara sat up, shaking the snow off her and began to laugh out loud, color coming to her cheeks, bringing Huginn and Muninn close in a hug, they laughing too.
Baron slowly sat up and stared at her for a moment, she seeming to be glowing and smiled, letting out a genuine laugh with her.
"Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?" Leo asked in a whisper in pure shock, the whole group unsure how to take in this side of Draxum though Mikey's eyes were wide and face filled with awe at seeing Draxum in a different light.
They stopped their train of thought when Draxum suddenly stood to his feet with Muninn and Huginn on his shoulders leaving Kara alone with her hand reached out for them only to drop it and look away. With a huff she walked over to the frozen lake and sat down, putting the skates on, singing, ~"Snow day, it's 'bout family, friends, and fun but I'm the only one...it just makes me miss you more." She said the last part hugging herself.
The boys, minus Donnie, and April watched this with tears streaming down their faces.
"This is so sad. No one should be alone on a snow day!" Mikey sniffed hugging Raph and crying his eyes out.
Donnie was openly staring at her as she brought out her weapon to hoist herself to her feet and gave a little push, skating on the surface of the ice, time slowing down and sparkles gathering around her and if he listened closely he could hear lute music as she glided seamlessly across the frozen surface.
Mayhem chittered looking between him and Kara, a mischievous smile coming to his lips before disappearing, "What the? Mayhem? Where'd he go?" April looked around wondering where he went off to only for everyone to look up when Kara let out a scream, flailing around the ice with Mayhem on her face, "No! Mayhem!" She screamed, all of them racing down to get him.
Kara minding her own business, thinking of her old life in Michigan, she didn't notice a colorful creature wearing mittens, and a scarf appear in front of her til it made contact with her face. Letting out a muffled scream she flailed her lower arms around while trying to regain the balance she had lost from the split second surprise, her feet slipping and sliding everywhere but straight, and her upper arms grabbing the thing that was on her, "What the? April's pet?!" She moved the pet away from her face when she saw they were racing towards the ground, her wings flapping having given her some speed and lifted it above her head in time to crash into the snow face first, Mayhem held above the snow safe and sound. She pushed herself out of the snow with her second pair of hands, letting out a gasp, her earmuffs and cap falling off and looked at the creature to see he was unharmed, "Phew, that was close. What was that all about? You could have hurt yourself!" She blinked when it began to nuzzle her cheek and smiled, letting her shoulders relax, "Well...as long as you're not hurt. You sure are a cute one, I bet you get away with a lot of stuff." She giggled but stopped at the sound of crunching snow and looked up in time to see April and the turtles coming up to them. She picked up her things with one hand and steadied herself to her feet as they stopped in front of her, "I believe this belongs to you." Kara held Mayhem out to April who graciously took him back, "Thank you. I'm so sorry he did that to you; he's never done that before."
Kara didn't respond, trying to put her gear back on with trembling hands, the breeze passing by not helping. Donnie went to make a move but Leo intercepted him by taking her cap from her and gently placing it on her head, "Oh, uh, thanks. My antenna are sensitive to extreme weather. " She smiled at him, this making Donnie's eye twitch for a second.
"Are you planning on going skiing? Can we join?" Mikey got close to her, bouncing in place to the point he started sinking in the snow.
"I uh..don't think we're in the right...location? So to speak. There aren't that many tall hills to do so." Kara wasn't sure how to handle not only the attention but how nonchalant they were acting towards her.
"Oh, I thought because of all the gear." Mikey gestured to his face, waving his hand up and down.
"It's kind of a necessity, you see-"
"-Moths are sensitive to light and with the rays reflecting off the surface of the snow it makes it worse for them to see, which is why they're known to 'hibernate' during winter." Donnie explained, this causing a blush to come to Kara's cheeks, "R-Right. Um..yeah, what he said." She tucked her nose into her fluff to try and hide the blush and the smile that came with it, this action making Donnie freeze at her reaction. Mayhem looked between the two his smug grin getting even more smug.
"Anyways, we're about to have a snowball fight, wanna join us?" Raph asked, pointing towards the entrance they made.
Kara looked to each smiling face that was directed at her and lowered her head, "Wh-Why would you invite me? Aren't we suppose to be enemies?"
The group looked to one another and began to laugh, this reaction surprising Kara.
"Come on, Kara, it's a snow day." Leo moved his arm around her, bringing her close.
"Yeah, it's our day off from this whole situation." Mikey added in while gesturing to him and her before moving to her other side and putting his arm above his brothers.
"It's a day for family, friends, and fun." Raph finished, placing his hand on her shoulder.
Behind the goggles Kara's eyes were glossing over at their kindness and let out a soft laugh with a large smile, "Ok!" She bent down to take her skates off, April helping her.
Everyone cheered Mikey and April dragging her by her hands out of the vine dome and into the open where she was greeted with the setting sun. A soft gasp escaped her lips, a chittering noise coming to her throat at its beauty.
"Ok! So, we have team "Jupiter Jim Sails the Seven Galaxies."" Raph, Leo, and Mikey pose in front of her. "Versus team "Jupiter Jim's Pluto Vacation 4."" April finished Raph's sentence she, Donnie, and Mayhem posing in front of them, "So, which team do you pick?"
"I've never seen Jupiter Jim before." She scratched at her cheek only to let out a yell and fall over when they all towered over her, going, "What the what?!"
"How could you have never seen Jupiter Jim?" April questioned, "It's one of the greatest shows ever!"
Kara didn't want to admit she couldn't afford basic cable so she just laid there stiff, "Uhhh..."
"Guys, we have a new mission after our snowball fight: showing Kara the greatest super hero show in the whole planet." Raph announced to his family, having gathered them in a circle, leaving Kara in the snow confused, "Ok, Kara, you're the referee. Last player standing gets to fly their teams' flag." He picked her up with ease, gently setting her back on her feet.
"We're up for a friendly game. What are the rules, Kara?" April smirked to Raph before everyone turned to Kara who was adjusting her gear. She cleared her throat to give herself a moment before lifting up a finger, "There are no safe zones. Weapons aren't allowed but don't let that stop you from showing no mercy on the battlefield." A small grin came to her face, beginning to feel excitement for the game.
"And no ice balls, no slush slappers, no horse hoppers, pepper poppers, liberty launchers, downtown hammers, dream hackers, thrashers, no Freddie Prince Juniors," he cleared his throat on the last one, "and no corked snowballs of any kind. We aren't savages." Mikey announced.
"Speak for yourself." Donnie muttered to himself while stroking one of his snowball creations, this getting a giggle out of Kara. "You heard the turtle. Ready. Set. Snow!" Kara shouted, throwing her arms in the air while spreading out her wings, the battle commencing. She was flying in the air watching the turtles and April have fun and couldn't help the laugh that was happening, covering her mouth to hide it til she felt a cold wetness hit her shoulder and arm. She turned around and saw Donatello and April with snowballs in their hands, smiling up at her. No words were exchanged as they all shared the same thought: no one gets left behind in a snowball fight. Returning their smile she blinked when she felt another wetness hit her legs and turned around to see Raphael and Leonardo doing the same thing.
Soon, it became five v. one battle of them trying to hit Kara who was flying in the air, laughing louder as she swooped to the ground and began gathering snowballs and throwing them back at them. Somehow, as she was getting ready to aim at Donatello, Michelangelo landed on her from the sky not only throwing herself at him but actually managing to hit him and roll down a small hill landing with her on top of him, laughing to the point of tears.
Donnie stared up at her bright face, catching a glimpse of the Kara he knew before everything that's happened, making his expression softened some. Both were trying to catch their breath now staring at each other; their breath and heartbeats in sync. Kara reached up and wiped away a speck of snow from his cheek and held it there for a second before getting up and offering her hand to him. When he accepted it her wings flapped some as she lifted him to his feet and he placed his arm around her to keep her steady, "Thanks." She said with a smile, letting out a noise when she was hit in the back and turned around to see April, Leonardo, and Mayhem snickering and hiding behind some snowmen. She let out a laugh and went after them.
It was total chaotic fun for them, leaving behind not only a mess but injured and traumatized snowmen in their wake.
Suddenly, through the chaos, everyone heard Raph call a time out so they stopped and gathered around for a hot cocoa break.
While they distributed the cocoa they were complimenting their tactics.
Off to the side Kara removed her goggles and let out a sigh while rubbing the imprint it left on her face before looking up at the night's sky, the dark moon not burdening her eyes as much. She glanced over to the group and smiled some before walking over and sitting down with them, "You got me good back there, Donnie, but the game ain't over yet." Raph said as he poured a cup and offered it to her. She stared down at it in awe and gently took it from him and placed the warm cup to her cheeks, letting out a soft chittering noise before taking a sip, this making Raph smile big with happiness in his eyes.
"Yes, but when it is, my teams flag will grace our statue and wave like a queen to her subjects." Donnie responded, taking a sip of his cocoa.
Kara listened to them with a smile on her face while staring into her cocoa and let out the softest of sighs feeling content in the moment. Lifting the cup to her lips her eyes trailed over to Leonardo when he began to speak to her, "You've got a good throwing arm, caught me a couple times." He said with a winking smile.
"Yeah, me too!" April agreed, Mayhem making a noise of approval.
She sat up straight with a smile, "Back in Michigan, where I grew up, my aunt and I had many a snowball fights. Heh, sometimes even the animals would join in their own way. She was so strong and cool and taught me a lot of things...your cocoa reminds me of her and how she would always experiment with different spices and ingredients. Obviously not everything would work." She chuckled softly at the memories, this getting a smile from everyone til it disappeared as her brows lifted in sadness, "I really miss her."
"Why not go visit her?" Mikey asked til Raph nudged him while waving his hand in front of his face.
"She..She's not here anymore..she died." Kara lowered her head and rubbed her thumb over the warm surface of the cup though when she lifted her gaze she noticed the mood had gone down thanks to her and took another sip of the hot drink, "This is really good. Who made this?"
"I did." Mikey stated proudly, "I happen to be the chef and ar-teest of the family." He said with making Kara smile.
"I do say, this cocoa is exquisite! Do I detect a skosk of maple malt syrup?" Donnie questioned making Kara take another sip and move it around her tongue to try and figure the extra flavor.
"If you paid attention to "Jupiter Jim Sails the Seven Galaxies" you would know what the secret ingredient is. You'll see for yourself." Mikey whispered to Kara, leaning close to her.
"Seems I'm going to learn a lot by watching this show." Kara muttered into her cup but couldn't help the smile reaching her lips.
"Uh, you and Leo always interrupt the movie by fighting over who gets to wear the Jupiter Jim costume." April retorted all but Kara sharing the same flashback.
"Woah! You've never seen the end? That's why you and Donnie don't get why "Seven Galaxies" is so much better than the movie you like." Raph popped up after the flashback, Mikey and Leo clinking their cups in agreement. "Trust me. Our flag totally deserves to be up there." Raph said as he was hoisted up by Leo and Mikey to put up their flag.
Kara narrowed her eyes, a smirk coming to her lips as she makes a snowball in her second pair of hands and goes to throw it til April had Mayhem bring him down.
"Oh, that is totally fun for me." Donnie said with as much enthusiasm as a squirrel getting caught by a predator making Kara giggle before standing and walking over to Raph, "Nu-uh, boys, can't pull a fast one during a cocoa break. It doesn't count." She dropped the snowball on to his face making him jump up with a shrill battlecry, "Breaks over! Game on!" He shouted, having two snowballs in hand but before he could throw them April was already on battle mode, hitting him smack in the face.
Round two of their snowball battle was already underway, laughter and the sound of crunching snow filling the air none of them noticing a lone oozequito being thawed out of the snow by their cocoa and mutating their next foe.
The sound of a muffled roar echoed through the darkened skies, winter birds fleeing the area due to the loud noise, this causing everyone to pause their game.
"Did anyone hear like a really sick bird or something?" Leo asked, looking around.
"That sounded too big to be a bird.." Kara scanned the area while reaching for her charm. Heavy panting and even heavier footsteps reached her ears til a tall, white fur mutant landed in front of them wearing an orange leotard and silver wrist gauntlets. "Peekaboo losers." It said in a heavy Spanish accent til its face revealed a polar bear.
"Ghostbear?!" The others shouted in fright, though Raph was more on the excited side, even going as far as taking seflies with him.
"Ghostbear?" Kara muttered but blinked when he raised his fist to attack, "How about a scar to remember me by?!" Kara brought out her weapon to protect Raphael but stopped when his hand phased right through him instead. "What is this? I can between bear and ghost?"
"Isn't that your name?" Kara raised a brow at this but narrowed her eyes not liking the look of his when she suddenly shouted Raphael's name only for him to get punched and sent across the field.
"He hit Raph so hard he almost went through our snowman!" April exclaimed.
"But our snowman is ok, right?" Leo asked full of concern for the snowman.
"So, it is the man of the snow that you love. Then I will destroy it." Ghostbear let out a roar while Kara spun her weapon around, holding it over her head with the blade to the ground and one foot crossed over the other, "Not if I can help it." She smirked his way and flew at him while swinging her weapon but it phased right through him. "Oh. Right." She back handed her out of the way, she falling to the ground and sliding a few inches.
"Kara!" Everyone shouted.
"Mayhem, a little help?" Leo muttered as he disappeared.
Ghostbear roared again, jumping at Kara as she lifted herself up and he immediately froze as snow fell off her face, sliding down her cheeks, her wide, colored eyes slowly looking up at as time seemed to stop for him, staring down at her beauty, "Bella dama.." He muttered, blushing as their eyes met.
"Eh?" She blinked when Donatello and Leonardo grabbed her and they all began to flee with Raphael carrying their snowman to safety while Ghostbear snapped out of his trance and roared after them, trying to strike but would instead him the ground.
"Too fast. Leo, sacrifice yourself to buy us some time." Donnie said as they all tried to catch their breath but blinked when Kara held out her hand, seeming to be concentrating. Before he could question what she was doing the chain on her wrist began to glow, this making her smirk. Ghostbear let out an evil laugh as he stalked towards them but stopped when he heard a whooshing sound, He turned around in time for her scythe to smack him in the face, falling to the ground, and land right in her hand, "Haha! It really worked!" She stood to her feet moving in front of them as Mayhem popped up above them, dropping them their weapons, all of them letting out a shout.
"Ok, fam, nobody messes with our snowman. Now let's beat this bozo bear like Jupiter Jim beats those space pirates." Raph grinned.
"How dare you use this dire moment to plug your obviously lesser movie."
"And spoilers! Kara hasn't seen it yet." Mikey added til they all screamed when Ghostbear jumped at them to attack, landing hard to the point it sent them on the air with a shower of snow. When they all sat up shocked faces were shared between them all when their eyes fell on the destroyed Jupiter Jim snowman, "Noooooo! Come on!" They all cried out, Kara staying silent but looked just as distraught.
"Bahahaha! Bien!" Ghostbear grinned.
"You're a monster!" Leo shouted, pointing his sword at him, "And not because you look that way-"
"-But because you ruined something we collectively cherish! Humbug upon you, sir! Humbug!" Donnie finished.
"Yeah, we all love Jupiter Jim. Which movie is doesn't even matter. If I'm being real, I love how Donnie performs all the musical numbers when we watch PV4." Raph turned to his brothers and friends with a smile on his face.
"And I do like how Raph gets stuck in a pirate accent after we watch "Seven Galaxies."" Donnie mentioned.
"I try to stop but it be too hard."
"Villain over here!" Ghostbear shouted in the background making Kara glare at him and shutting him up.
"It's watching the Jupiter Jim movies together as a family that makes them so special." April said.
Kara watched them seem to have learned a valuable lesson and sighed softly while looking away with a small smile on her face, envious of the love they have for another, them sharing a hug. She blinked when Raphael held his arms out for her, "Bring it in. Come on." She stared at them in shock, a blush coming to her cheeks before shyly stepping forward and bringing her arms around them. Tears reached her eyes feeling their warmth wrap around her, having the biggest smile on her face.
"Awww, how sweet!" Ghostbear said from behind, looming over them.
"Oh. Right." Kara deadpanned before forcing Raphael to turn them around, spreading her wings out this startling Ghostbear and giving the others time to get in their stances.
"That's it! Mad dogs, ahoy!" Raph shouted all of them charging forward.
Raph was the first to attack flying at Ghostbear but he ghosted making Raph phase threw him and became solid to grab and throw him at Donnie.
Leo was next, raising his sword and slashed at him continuously except he was already in his ghost form so all he did was exhaust himself, Ghostbear punching him away.
Kara threw her scythe at him and as it phased through she flew at him to punch him but he was still ghosted. Once he became solid again she dodged his attacks while having her arm outreached. Hearing the whooshing sound behind him again he ghosted himself in time for her to catch her weapon. He let out a roar as he pulled his arm back to punch her but she spun her scythe in hand and blocked his attack, his hand colliding with the blade. He then grabbed the blade and shoved it aside, this causing her to lose her footing and grab her head, slamming her to the ground then throwing her aside.
Mikey spun his weapon, sending it towards Ghostbear but when he ghosted he ended up hitting April instead. Ghostbear turned around and pounced on Mikey and when the snow cleared everyone was gone, this making Ghostbear smirk "Tortugas, come out to plaaayaaah!" He shouted as he searched for them.
"Should we call animal control?" Leo questioned he, Mikey, and April hiding in a tree.
"We could use the flags to blind him."
"But Ghostbear only stays solid when he's attacking us."
"I think a zookeeper would be a better option." Kara said to Leonardo's question til Raphael shh'd them all only for the tree the three were on the fall over due to the weight which caused them to grab Ghostbear's attention. Kara flew in the air as Ghostbear slashed at the tree, knocking it down with Raphael still on it, she calling his name and flying down next to him, "Raphael, are you ok?" She blinked when he had a look on his face that said he had an idea, he sitting up straight, "I got it! You guys stay close enough so he's attacking and stays solid. We'll use our icy environment like Jupiter Jim did."
"Wow. Full circle." Donnie commented, popping up from the ground.
"Like what?" Kara asked, confused.
"Follow our lead, Kara." April said with a smirk, she standing to her feet. "Woo-hoo. Fuzzy wuzzy bear man." April called out to him, she and Kara grabbing his attention. "Mayhem, do your thing." She smirked at her pet as it took the flag in his mouth and disappeared, popping out on his back and covering his eyes with the flag. While Mayhem had that covered Mikey grappled his weapon around him, tying him up as he cried out about the dark.
Raph punched a fountain causing water to spurt out and Leo created a portal making the water fall right onto Ghostbear just as he managed to free himself, Mayhem disappearing.
"Donnie." April smiled his way.
"Let's see you phase through my hexagonal crystalline solid. A.K.A: Ice." Donnie's techbo changed into an icebeam, looking through the scope, and fired as it began to freeze the water. "Tortugaaas!" Ghostbear screamed, trying to fight the attack while grabbing the pole nearby. Everyone readied for a strike only for him to fully succumb to his icy statue prison.
Everyone cheered, Kara hugging Donatello in excitement, this making his face light up and hugged her back.
"Awesome job, famo." Raph stated placing his hands on Leo and Donnie.
"Raph, for the cherry on top, why don't you put your flag up there." April said.
"I got a better idea." Everyone placed their scarves on the pole, "Since we all love Jupiter Jim equally, and we all worked together as equals to put Ghostbear on ice, our flag should represent all of us."
"That's a really nice thought, Raphael." Kara smiled at him but blinked when she didn't have a scarf so instead she placed her goggles over his head, nodding in satisfaction.
"Whu-whu-wait. How come Raph's is on top?"
Back in the lair everyone was working to make this binge watch comfortable leaving Kara to sit alone awkwardly. She glanced over at Splinter to see him openly staring at her making her hunch her shoulders and look down, feeling more awkward.
Maybe she shouldn't be here..
Her thoughts were interrupted when Leonardo took her hand and lead her to the cushiony cot they made for them all to sit in and sat her down. Michelangelo came into view with April and Mayhem carrying a tray of cocoa and popcorn. Raphael and Donatello were setting up the episodes and when the menu came on everyone sat down and got comfortable with Kara in the center, Leonardo and Michelangelo on her left, Donatello, April, and Mayhem on her right with Raphael behind them due to their size.
Starting with the first episode it seemed as though it was going to a corny, 90s, children's show but the further she watched the more interested she became, her eyes wide in awe and a smile to match, laughing at the funny parts, covering her face when something surprising happened, even seeing them do the things they mentioned during the snowball fight, making her cover her mouth a laugh.
It was the end of the binge watching when they had reached their last movie that Kara began to grow tired, her head nodding as she tried to fight it. She gently laid her head on Donatello's shoulder with her eyes closed and soon dozed off, softly breathing through her nose, a smile on her face.
Donnie looked down at her in surprise but had a smile on his face seeing her looking peaceful in her sleep. He quietly hushed his family and pointed down at Kara, all of them nodding and moving to turn in for the night til Kara's wings spread out and wrapped around the group, keeping them close.
They all looked at each other with a smile and shrugged, guessing it was going to be a sleepover, turning the lights off and going to sleep.
Back in the Lab Baron entered Kara's room to see she had not returned. He walked inside getting a look around when he spotted the corner of a book under her pillow and picked it up to see it was on mystic weapons. Opening it he flipped through the book it landing at the page she had saved and read through it, his eyes widening some when he spotted the sword Alastair; finding it familiar. He tore the page off and tossed the book down heading to his armory in search for it.
Hours went by and at this point he was started to become infuriated at the lack of results, Kara's warning coming to mind, "Where is it?! It has to be here somewhere!" He shouted, throwing a weapon at the wall.
"Whatcha looking for, boss?" Huginn asked.
"Alastair. It's a sword that has the pure soul of a warrior merged inside it. If things go awry with the Foot Clan then it's one of the few weapons that can come close to going up against the Dark Armor. If anyone were to discover it.." Baron's upper lip lifted in disdain at the possibilities while Muninn took the page from his hand and looked at the picture, "Oh this? Yeah, we saw it. Kara had it in her hands when she was looking for a weapon."
"But...we accidentally...hss...made her drop it..down the chute.." Huginn muttered, rubbing his tiny hands together.
Baron's eye began to twitch, "You...WHAT?!" His voice boomed inside the room, causing them to freeze midair for a second, "Did you not hear what I just said?! You are to retrieve it at once! AND DO NOT COME BACK TIL YOU FIND IT!" He roared while grabbing them and throwing them down the same chute. His shoulders shook at the mere thought of anyone else finding it, staring down at the page before crumbling it up and dropping it to the ground. "Nothing can stand in the way of my goal."
