The Return of Captain Jack Harkness
Another day, he thought as he opened his eyes, he was still in the same cell for the ninetieth day. It wasn't like he couldn't easily escape but he promised Jewel he wouldn't do anything, that he would stay put and for the record-he hated it.
The worst thing about it was when Superior Commander Birdie had visited, he mostly spent his time laughing as he realised that finally Captain Jack Harkness was in a maximum security SPD prison for an hour. An hour! He had hoped it had only been for five minutes.
'Well you kind of deserved it,' said Jewel as he phoned her the day after. 'You nearly destroyed the main headquarters.'
Jack rolled his eyes, 'he laughed at me for over an hour.'
'Okay maybe that was too much,' Jewel agreed. 'You can tell why Birdie and Cruger hate each other though.'
He didn't get much out of her after that. It also had been a week since he had last heard from her which was unusual, he had tried calling but every time he got a D-Squad cadet who said they were unavailable and would get a message across to her.
"Harkness," the Prison Officer called, as he walked up to his cell, "You've got visitors."
Jack frowned, "who?" he asked, but didn't get an answer he simply followed the officer out and into the visitors section. Opening the door, he walked in first seeing Sky Tate and Bridge Carson sat by the table with a new lad he never met before.
"Where's Jewel?" he asked, as he sat down opposite them.
Sky sighed, "Jewel is staying behind under Cruger's orders," he told him.
"Does this have anything to do with the new colour stripes on your uniform?" he observed, "congratulations on the promotion by the way."
"Thanks," smiled Bridge, "It's totally amazing being Power Rangers."
Jack nodded. "I don't think Sky is as thrilled," he mused. "You wanted to be the red ranger right?"
"Well he's the Blue Ranger," the red ranger piped up, "can we get back to the task on hand?"
"We've not been introduced," smiled Jack, holding his hand out to the red ranger. "Captain Jack Harkness."
Jack shook his head, "Jack Landors."
"Nice to meet you, Jacky," Jack winked as Bridge snorted at the new nickname. Sky shook his head, slightly amused. "We've got to tell each other apart somehow."
"How about we call you Captain?" said Jack, slightly irritated already. "And we get to the point as to why we are here."
The elder Jack leant back into his chair, "I'm fine with Captain Jack," he said. "Why did Cruger send you three? I presume he sent you three?"
"Somebody is attempting to hack into our system and access old Torchwood information," said Sky, showing him the brown Manilla folders.
Captain Jack read the folders, "this shouldn't have happened," he said. "Torchwood was dissolved into Space Patrol Delta. They should've had the security in place."
"Jewel already had that argument with Cruger," nodded Sky, "she seems to think that Grumm has hired Broodwing who in turn hired someone who knew about the systems and try hack into them for him."
"That's a possibility," nodded Captain Jack. "Torchwood did have a number of enemy's back in the day even though I tried to avoid it I wouldn't be surprised if Grumm knew about us somehow."
Jack sighed, "Cruger wants to bring you on board as a consultant to try and figure out who is attempting to get into these systems for Grumm."
"What's the deal?" Captain Jack folded his arms.
"You'll be assigned to SPD as a consultant," Sky explained. "Jewel will be the person who you report to but you can't do anything stupid this time, Jack. If you do your back in here for a more permanent stay."
Captain Jack nodded, "I'll take the deal," he said.
"Good," Jack nodded, taking the files from him. "Because you're coming back home with us."

"It's so quiet without the boys," commented Z as they sat in the common room watching TV. Syd was sitting on the opposite sofa reading a magazine and Jewel was sat crossed legged next to Z nodding her head slowly.
Syd sighed, "It'll be different when Jack's here," she said. "Sky and Bridge like him."
"I kind of feel sorry for our Jack though," said Jewel, "He's never met him before, and you know how he gets with new people."
Syd nodded slowly, "Poor Jack," she laughed.
"Why poor Jack?" asked Z, turning her head from the TV.
"It's something I like to call the Captain Jack Harkness effect," answered Jewel, leaning towards the coffee table and picking up some popcorn. "You'll figure it out," she smiled, eating some of the popcorn.
Kat walked into the common room seeing the three female rangers talking with each other. "There you are, Jewel," she smiled, walking over to the purple ranger.
"Is there an update?" Jewel asked, sitting up further.
"Yes," nodded Kat. "The boys checked in, Jack accepted the deal and they are coming home."
Jewel smiled, "that's good," she said. "Are they killing each other yet?"
Kat shook her head, smiling fondly, "not yet but there is still time…"

Jack couldn't help but sigh as he listened to Captain Jack, Sky and Bridge in the back of the helicarrier. They were laughing a little too much. He glanced back seeing them hunched over an old iPhone.
"No way," said Bridge, with a smile. "That can't be Jewel?"
"That's Jewel," nodded Captain Jack. "Looks a lot different when she's not wearing an SPD uniform right?" He watched as Jack walked over to take a look.
Jack could see the picture of the old Torchwood team on Jack's iPhone. Jewel was sitting in between the Captain and another guy in a suit. It looked like they were at a wedding. "Jewel looks happier," he commented, seeing the wide smile that he had never actually seen her actually smile like that as long as he'd been in the ranger team.
"Yeah," the Captain sadly smiled. "Those were happier times. There is something you need to be aware of. Jewel has been through a lot and it has affected her. She may not be as giggly as you see her on old Torchwood footage."
Sky nodded, "tell me about it," he said, "she gave me a lecture when I tried arresting Jack and Z, she wasn't having any of it."
"Jewel learnt most of that from Gwen," Captain Jack mused. "The annoying thing about it is she is right most of the time."
"Unfortunately," grumbled Sky.
Bridge looked to Sky slightly confused. "I thought you eventually told Jewel she was right?" He stopped talking as Sky glared at him in response.
"Commander Cruger wants to speak with both you and Jewel when we land," said Jack, interrupting the conversation. Trying to change the subject.
Captain Jack nodded. "How is the old dog by the way?"
"Commander Cruger," Jack responded, rolling his eyes, "is just fine."
"I thought you were the goody two shoes," the captain looked across to Sky, slightly confused as Sky simply shrugged. "I take it he's trying to make a good impression?"
Bridge nodded, "he was nearly fired from being a red ranger yesterday."
"That makes sense," nodded Captain Jack.

"The helicarrier isn't in flames," said Syd, as they stood in attention behind Commander Cruger, Kat and Boom.
"That's a good sign," agreed Jewel with a slight nod of her head. "If they all come out sober I'll be even more impressed."
Cruger tilted to his right, his eyebrow slightly raised. "I really wouldn't put it past him, Sir," Jewel replied.
"So far so good," commented Z, nodding to the ramp lowering, Sky and Bridge walked next to the Captain whilst Jack walked behind them.
Jewel nodded, "they're walking in a straight line," she began to walk up to her partner and friends.
"Did you miss me?" Captain Jack asked with a huge smile as Jewel pressed a kiss against his cheek. "I take that as a yes?"
Jewel looked across to Jack, "take it he wasn't too much trouble for you?"
"He keeps on calling me Jacky," he mumbled.
Jewel chuckled, "it means he likes you," she told him. "Thanks Jack for collecting him."
"Anytime," nodded Jack, and went to join Sky, Bridge, Syd and Z who were by Cruger debriefing him.
The Captain leaned into Jewel's ear, "can we not just sneak away?" he whispered.
"You know we can't," said Jewel, "but I promise we will have a proper catch up later."
"Fine," he grumbled, as Jewel led him down the ramp towards Cruger who stepped forward. "Commander Cruger."
Cruger nodded, "Captain Harkness."
"You assured me that no-one was going to be able to access the Torchwood System," said the Captain he was angry. Kat had sensed it as she shifted her feet slightly. "You assured me my team was going to be safe."
Kat nodded, "they are safe, they didn't even get past the firewall," she argued.
"The risk is still there," he glared at the lead technician.
Cruger raised his hand, "shall we take this in the command centre?" he questioned.
"We have a right to know," argued Jack.
Jewel shook her head, "sorry guys not with this one." The B-Squad rangers were shocked as Cruger and Kat led Jewel and the Captain to the command centre.

"Tell me that Grumm didn't get access to my team's information," Jack yelled at Cruger.
Cruger nodded, "we are certain that Grumm doesn't know anything."
"How can we know that for sure?" asked Jewel, holding tightly onto Jack's hand. "We should be calling Gwen and Rhys."
"There is no need," Kat tried to reassure them. "They're safe no-one accessed the system."
Cruger looked to Jack, "this is why we decided to bring you back home," he said. "We are going to need you to help Kat in securing the system and the Rangers if any Torchwood information does get out to Grumm."
"That I can do," said Jack with a nod. "Kat the second someone tries to access the system can you let me know?"
Kat nodded, "of course," she said. "Considering everything it's good to see you again, Jack."
"It's good to see you, Kat," he said with a wink.
Jewel rolled her eyes, "stop it," she said, slapping his arm gently, "are we free to go?"
"Yes," said Cruger, "oh and Jack stay out of trouble!"
Jack shook his head as Jewel began to drag him out of the command centre, "no promises," he called causing the commander to growl in response.
