24. Chris
Chris' greatest wish had come true. He had friends he could Beyblade with. He hadn't dared dreaming about it when he had accepted Johannes' offer.
He was waiting in Bey-City for Phantom Orion to be fixed, surrounded by the said friends. Specifically, Ginga, Kenta and Benkei convinced him to walk around the city, showing him their favourite places.
"How is it the renewal of your blader life?" asked Ginga.
"Great," replied Chris.
He felt his cheeks warm. He had lost the habit of interacting with others. It would be better when their friendship is a little older.
"That can only be great since he will face Kyouya-san!" Benkei intervened with enthusiasm.
"That is true!"
Kenta and Benkei exchanged a look before staring at Ginga, reminding Chris that he wasn't really part of their group.
No. I can't think that way.
He didn't know them this well yet. It would evolve over time.
"Kyouya is a great blader," said Kenta, still looking at the redhead. "Ginga is better placed to talk about him."
"Oh? Well... Yes, you're doubt."
Ginga smiled slightly. Kenta and Benkei slowed down, willingly putting themselves aside, but the look they exchanged didn't escape Chris.
"Kyouya is a great blader, one of the best I've ever met. He always has surprises during duels. It's impossible to guess what to expect with him. He's unpredictable."
Ginga began to come alive, forgetting his initial discomfort.
"He is also strong and brave. He has a real bladder. You are lucky to start a new phase of your life fighting him. Meeting him... what he said that day is true for me as well." (1)
Ginga had ended up in a murmur, only meant for himself.
There could be no doubt. Ginga was in love with Kyouya Tategami.
What should Chris do? Should he do something? He had been deprived of friendship for so long, and none of his previous friendships had prepared him for this situation. Would it be better to remain silent or to promise his support to Ginga? It could be his first action as a true friend!
Calm down, Chris, he ordered himself.
Ginga was too much in the clouds to notice his trouble, but Chris wanted to be the kind of friend one's could count on. First, he would talk with Kenta and Benkei, then he would advise on the appropriate course of action.
Chris couldn't help but smile. With this resolution, he felt more like part of the group than ever.
End of drabble 24
