We're back on chapter 12.

At Azula's battleship, Dr. Juntao shows Azula one of her new robot army. "We only build ninty-nine robots last week. We'll have to use Future Industries to multiply them, once we've won the battle."
Azula chuckles. "Good. And is the body you promised finished?"
"Yes, mistress Azula. It's all ready for you." Juntao said before he grabs Azula's head and walks outside. They see a large robot body with a strong claws and without a head.
"Excellent. Now, I will finally reclaim my right as Fire Lord and conquer all the nations." Azula said before Juntao placed her head onto the robot. While Azula is on the body, its hands move and around Azula's head is a dome. "And so, I stand before the world…" She moves her robot claws and firebends and lightningbends to the clouds. "Reborn! But, we have little time to waste. The Avatar and the Republic may have found out Max Raiko was really me, but she'll need the United Forces to stop Unalaq before we could get to the South. We must be ready." she said before a hologram of Unalaq appeared. "Ah, Unalaq. Have you taken care of those rebels?"
"Yes indeed, Azula. I figured you may not be the President anymore since the Avatar exposed you, but she can't stop us." Unalaq said.
"You're right. With Vaatu on our side, she doesn't stand a chance." Azula said before she laughs evilly and loudly.
Meanwhile, at Varrick's battleship. Inside a cabin with Kya and Kaori are attempting to heal Jinora with waterbending. Jinora lies in a healing tub. Outside the cabin, Bumi playing a flute next to Oogi. Korra is practicing her bending, with Tenzin, Dallas and Mako watching. Korra starts bending on the practice target. Mako sadly watches her with guilt as Bolin approaches. "What's up with the coat? And where did you get that pie?" he asked.
"It's a Varrick ship, you never know what you're gonna find. There's a whole level filled with fun-house mirrors. Of course, there's also the catgator deck." Bolin briefly turns around showing his coat with a large hole in it. "I miss that guy, he really knew how to make a long trip interesting." Bolin said as he watches Korra bending. "So, have you told Korra you're sorry you ratted her out to President Raiko, who turns out to be the head of Fire Princess Azula, broke up with her and sorta dating Asami while she was gone?"
"Will you cut me some slack? I'm waiting for the right moment." Mako said.
"Oh Mako, you know a wise man once told me that delivering bad news to a girlfriend was like ripping off a blood-sucking leech: You just have to do it fast and get it over with."
"I hate it when you listen to me. Fine!" Mako said before he walks to Korra.
"Unalaq and Azula will be waiting for you before. You'll need all of your Avatar power to stop him."
"I'm going to close the spirit portals, lock Vaatu in for another ten thousand years, and make Unalaq and Azula wish they're never been born."
Korra uses her firebending to blast the head off the practice target. The the head lands in front of Mako's feet. Mako is looking worried, Korra approaches giving him an angry face. "Thanks, Mako."
"Uh... Um..."
Korra sighs. "Did you want something?"
"Uh no, no, nothing."
"Well, if you want to say something, what the hell is it?! Say it, damn it! Spit it! What do you want?! I haven't got all day here!" Korra snaps. "Don't shout at me!" Mako snapped at Korra. "I'm not shouting at you!" Korra snapped again.
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry." Mako said calmly.
"Sorry for ratted me out to Aang's old enemy? Dumbed me? And dating Asami while I'm gone? Korra asked angrily.
"I-I'm really sorry for breaking up with you, okay?" Mako said. "When I heard you were attacked by a dark spirit, I'd thought you might be dead. I'm just glad you're okay."
"I could say the same thing to you." Korra said bitterly. "Like I care. Like you cared."
Mako frowned. "What? Korra…"
"I've been away only after a week or two since you broke up with me, and now, that's really impressive. Just don't try to apologize."
Mako looked down sadly. "Listen." he stood up. "I'm not sure what happened between me and Asami, but I need you to know I still care about you."
She stood there angry, grinding her teeth, her blood starts to boil.
"Oh, come on! If you really cared about me, you would have been worried! You wouldn't have been dating Asami while I was away trying to end a war!" Korra yelled before Mako took a step back, her outburst shocks him.
"Don't you think it means nothing to you?!" her voice broke, more raw emotions bubbling to the surface tears began to shed from her eyes.
"Of course it does, damn it!" Mako yelled back.
"Then, why did you do it? If I meant so dmuch to you, why were you with someone else?"
"I DON'T KNOW!" Mako said while placing his hands on his head. "But, I… I still love you, Korra."
"Just get out of my face, Mako! I'm just sick of you. When this is over, I don't want to see you ever again."
Korra walks away from Mako, who is stands there sadly. Bolin came and hugged his brother. Korra walks in the cabin, and she sees Asami crying. "Asami, what's wrong?"
"I'm sorry, Korra. I'm so sorry I kissed Mako while you were away, trying to save your tribe." Asami said with her voice broke.
"Hey, hey." Korra puts her hands around Asami. "I'm not mad at you. I'm just still angry at Mako."
"He regret it when he told Azula you were taking military actions. He just wants to make it up to you."
The way Asami said makes Korra felt guilty when she said something angry to Mako. Tenzin came in the cabin. "Is it a bad time?"
"No, it's fine." Korra said before she walks out the cabin with Tenzin, Dallas and Kya.
"As soon as we reach the Southern Water Tribe, we'll blast through the blockade at the main portal." Dr. Franceschini said.
"Then we can rendezvous with Tonraq, Azula and their troops, crash through the defenses around the portal, and enter the Spirit World." Tenzin said.
"Woah! Since when does my little brother wanna crash or blast through anything?" Kya asked.
"I'll do whatever it takes to save my daughter."
Bumi approaches. "We all want to save Jinora, but I think your plan might be a tad over-aggressive, seeing as there are only seven of us and one ship."
"Really? And what do you suggest?"
"An attack like this calls for strategy. I remember when I was surrounded by pirates at the Hurricane Straits. We managed to capture them all, with just a feather, two eggs and a barrel of molasses."
"I don't want to hear any of your crazy stories now! This is serious!" Tenzin snapped.
Bumi gets upset. Asami approach.
"Are we almost there, Asami?" Korra asked.
"Almost, but... I just picked up a distress signal from the southern troops. There's a problem."
The group looking shocked and worried. At White Lotus compound in the South Pole. Oogi flies into view as Korra enters the compound on Naga. Inside the compound as Oogi lands and Korra's mother approaches. Korra dismounts Naga. "Mom!"
Senna hugs her daughter. "I'm so happy you're here."
"Where's Dad?"
"Unalaq wiped out the entire southern resistance and the Fire Nation soldiers, and captured your father." Senna said in sadness.
"I'll get him back."
Tenzin approaches holding Jinora. "Where is my mother?"
"She's in the healing hut. So many injured." Senna said.
Inside the healing hut as the doors open revealing Kya, Bumi, Senna, Korra, and Tenzin holding Jinora. Inside the hut, there the injured men and the female healers. Katara turns to see the others and approaches. "What happened?" she asked.
"Her soul is trapped in the Spirit World." Tenzin said. "Oh, my goodness! How long has she been away?" Katara asked again.
"Almost a week. Kaori and I tried to keep her energy flowing, but we can feel her slipping away. You're the only one who can help her now, Mom." Kya said.
Jinora is placed in a healing tub by Tenzin. Katara begins attempting to heal Jinora. "How much longer can she survive like this?" Tenzin asked.
"I don't know, but she is very strong to have lasted this long."
Outside the healing hut.
"I talked to the rebels and the Fire soldiers." Korra said. "They said Unalaq's got the southern portal surrounded. Harmonic Convergence is only a few hours away."
"Then we have to break through the enemy lines ourselves and get to the portal now." Tenzin said.
"There's no use in talking any more. We know what our mission is." Korra said.
Bolin start thinking. "A suicide mission..." Everyone pauses briefly and stares at Bolin.
"You know, I was in a similar situation once. My platoon had crawled through the desert with no water for a week!" Bumi said as everyone else listening in disbelief. "But when we finally located the only oasis for a hundred miles, it was surrounded by angry sandbenders. I realized our only chance to get to the water was to drop in from above. So I fashioned together a catapult, and with the help of a few well-trained hog monkeys..."
"For the love of Christ, Bumi! Enough of your ridiculous lies! Can't you see that the fate of the world and Jinora's life depends on what we do here today?!" Tenzin snapped, making Bumi look upset.
"Hold on, maybe Bumi's right." Asami said. "We don't have a catapult and hog monkeys, but we have a flying bison and there's a plane on Varrick's ship. Maybe we can attack from above."
"What are you thinking?" Korra asked.
"Mako, Bolin, Dr. Franceschini and I can use the plane to create a distraction, and scatter some of the defenses. You, Tenzin, Bumi and Kya can fly into the spirit portal on Oogi when you see an opening."
"Let's get moving." Korra determined.
"Kaori, you stay here and keep Senna, Katara and Jinora safe." Dallas said. "Be careful, Uncle Dallas." Kaori said.
Oogi is flying away with a view from beside Naga's foot. Naga, with Pabu sitting on top. Both look sad as they watch the others leave. Unalaq's compound, inside Unalaq's tent as Desna and Eska enter.
"What are we still doing here, Father?" Eska said. "The invasion was completely successful, and the southern tribe is under our control. The spirit portals are open." Desna said.
"You've restored balance. Now we would like to go home." Eska said.
"You don't understand. Everything I achieved so far will pale in comparison with what I'm about to accomplish." Unalaq said.
"What else is there? The Water Tribe is united." Desna said.
"After today, there will be no more Water Tribe, no more nations of any kind. The world is about to be transformed into something magnificent, and new. And I will lead this glorious revolution. Azula's assistance has my thanks. We wait for Azula's arrival. Now go outside and get the troops ready to defend the spirit portal."
"From whom? We've already beaten everyone." Eska asked.
"The Avatar will be here soon. She has no choice..."
Meanwhile, Oogi and the plane from Varrick's ship. Asami and Franceschini are piloting the plane. She gives the thumbs up to Tenzin. Tenzin, who nods in return. The two groups splitting up. A scared Bolin hanging on tightly to the plane's wing.
"Are you ready?!" Asami asked.
"I'm an earthbender, strapped to the wing of a plane, hundreds of feet in the air, so, no?" Bolin said. "Don't worry, there's no way they'll be expecting this." Mako said.
Unalaq's compound. Spirits encircle the portal to the Spirit World from above. The Northern Water Tribe soldiers ready to fight.
"I think they were expecting it!" Bolin said.
The portal is surrounded by spirits. One of the bunkers as the Northern Water Tribe soldiers stand ready. The compound as the plane flies into view. On ground, the soldiers are watching. Inside a bunker as the soldiers begin their attack. Outside of the bunker as the soldiers shoot icicles out toward the plane. At the compound as the plane manages to dodge the incoming projectiles.
"Asami!" Bolin gets terrified.
"Get ready!" Asami said. The plane is avoiding more projectiles. "Fuoco!" Franceschini said in Italian.
Mako begins to firebend at the compound below. Inside of the compound as the plane makes a pass. The plane rising, avoiding more projectiles. Asami and Dallas, and a view from behind the plane. Back to the compound as the plane approaches again. Bolin, who begins earthbending. At the compound, as the plane makes another pass and Bolin earthbends explosives onto the mecha tanks. Bolin starts triggering the explosives, and there be the explosions. At the compound, as the plane continues its attack. Oogi approaches the compound.
"There are spirits everywhere. I don't see an opening." Korra said.
"Let's circle around and see if we can find a way in from the other side." Tenzin said before the spirits begin their attack. Side-view of Oogi dodging the first attack. "Hold on!"
Oogi dives away from the spirit. Spirits now encircle Oogi. Some of the spirits have already managed to attach themselves to Oogi. As another spirit jumps on, but is quickly airbent away by Korra. Kya, who begins waterbending the spirits away. Oogi begins to groan.
"The spirits are weighting Oogi down! We're losing altitude!" Tenzin shouts.
Bumi begins kicking a spirit. "Get off of him, you sticky, nasty little blob of goo!" Bumi is tripped by the spirit, but he grabs hold of it before falling. "Woah! If I go, you're coming with me!"
As the shadow lets go of Oogi and both Bumi and the shadow begin to fall. Bumi and the shadow falling. "Bumi!" Kya shouts.
Back at the compound as the plane continues its attack. Inside the compound of the soldiers sending another wave of projectiles. Then the plane as some of the icicles connect, damaging the plane. Mako responds with his firebending. Back inside the compound as Mako creates a wave of fire. The plane flies away and makes another run. A bunker as Bolin bends more explosives down and blows up the compound.
"I wish Varrick was filming this! We could call it 'Nuktuk: Sky Warrior'!" Bolin said.
Eska and Desna appears in the compound, who begin their attack. The twins are sliding on the snow using their waterbending. The twins manage to destroy the tail of the plane. Behind Eska and Desna as they watch the plane begin to fall.
"Brace yourselves!" Asami shouts. "Mayday!" Dr. Franceschini shouts.
The plane begins to fall and crash. The crash site, showing Franceschini, Bolin, Mako and Asami unconscious. Oogi and the others came. From the ground as Oogi begins to fall and crash due to the spirits. Korra, Tenzin, and Kya lying on the ground. Northern Water Tribe soldiers approaching from the compound. Fade to black as Korra passes out.
Fade back in as Korra regains consciousness, showing Tonraq tied up.
"Dad..."
"Korra... I'm so sorry. I failed you." Tonraq apologizes.
"Don't give up. Harmonic Convergence isn't here yet. We still have a chance." Korra said.
Korra turns to Tenzin, Dallas and Kya all tied up. Mako, Bolin, and Asami are thrown into the tent, also tied up. Cut to a side-view of the tent.
"We tried." Mako said before Korra and Tonraq looks sad. Unalaq came in with his children.
"Congratulations, everyone." Unalaq said. "You've all got front row seats for the beginning of a new world order."
Over Unalaq's shoulder view of the others. "You don't know what you and Azula are doing, Unalaq. Freeing Vaatu won't make you powerful, it will only make you a traitor to everything good that's happened over the last ten thousand years." Korra said.
"You think what Avatar Wan did was good? Driving almost all the spirits from this world? The Avatar hasn't brought balance, only chaos. You call yourself the bridge between the two worlds, but there shouldn't be a bridge: We should live together as one." Unalaq said.
"Even if Vaatu escapes, I'll put him right back in his prison, just like Wan did." Korra determined.
"It's true that when Wan fused with Raava, he tipped the scales in her favour, but this time I'll be here to level the playing field. When Harmonic Convergence comes, I will fuse with Vaatu, and together we will become the new Avatar: A Dark Avatar. Your era is over."
"Dark Avatar?" Korra went in shock.
"Think about what you're doing. I know that you've always had a deep connection with the spirits, but you're still a man. You're still my brother, you're Eska and Desna's father. Are you willing to throw your humanity away to become a monster?" Tonraq begged.
"I'll be no more of a monster than your own daughter. The only difference is that while she can barely recognize her own spiritual power, I will be in complete alignment with mine. Vaatu and I will be as one. No one will be able to stand against us." he said as Eska and Desna who turn as Unalaq begins to speak to them. "Keep them locked up and wait for Azula to come. After the Harmonic Convergence, I will come for Korra."
"Yes, Father." Eska said before Unalaq leaves.
Behind Korra and Tonraq, as Unalaq and his two Northern Water Tribe guards leave the tent.
"Doc, why didn't you tell me he's gonna fuse with Vaatu?" Korra asked.
"Because I wasn't sure if he's going to be the Dark Avatar. I took a picture of it while I was in the future, but something doesn't make sense to me." Dallas said.
"I failed in every way. We've lost Jinora forever." Tenzin said in sadness.
"There's still a chance. They didn't get Bumi." Kya said.
In the snowway, Bumi kicks his way out of being buried in the snow. Ashe sits up and realizes the spirit, he took down with him is still there. Bumi stands up and the spirit approaches.
"Oh, you wanna play some more? Well, bring it on." Bumi begins punching the spirit.
As Bumi prepares a heavy blow. Behind Bumi as he uppercuts the spirit. Cut to a close-up of the spirit, before switching to Bumi. As the spirit punches Bumi backward, he as he lifts his head from the snow. "Oh, we're playing dirty, huh?"
Bumi reaches into his pocket. He throws out a dagger. The spirit as the dagger goes inside of it, reverses, and is propelled back out toward Bumi. Bumi who manages to dodge out of the way. Bumi barely manages to move out the way of the spirits attack. Bumi who reaches into his pocket again and pulls out the flute. The spirit approaching. Bumi begins to play. The spirit a calms down.
"Hmm... Looks like we've got a music lover here." he said.
He continues playing his flute. Pabu and Naga approaching Bumi as he stops playing. "Reinforcements!" Bumi hugs Naga. "All right, soldiers, looks like it's on us to save the day, luckily I've got a plan."
At the portal and the spirits surrounding it, and at the compound. Eska and Desna looking out from the tent.
"Eska, Desna, listen to me." Korra begged. "You've got to help us stop Unalaq. I know he's your father, but Vaatu has made him completely crazy."
"We will never turn on our father." Eska said.
"Please. If you let me out now, I can still stop him from destroying everything. Once he fuses with Vaatu, no one will be safe. Desna, he won't be your father anymore."
Desna advances on Korra. "You don't know what you're talking about! Our father is the wisest man in the world. If he says what he is doing is right, I believe him."
At the aerial view of the compound as the soldiers are repairing the damage. A soldier walking past Naga, Pabu, and Bumi without noticing.
"Huh?"
Bumi jumps on the soldier as he stops. Inside the compound as spirits fly past other soldiers.
"You know, if I wanted some ball of evil lurking over my shoulder all the time, I'd have stayed home with my mother-in-law." a soldier said. As Bumi moves forward, dressed as a Northern Water Tribe soldier.
"All right, spirit army." Bumi said before he pulls out flute. "Your general is here. Follow me!"
He begins playing. Spirits surrounding the portal taking interest in Bumi. Bumi is playing his flute as the spirits approach. "It's working!" Thenn as the spirits pounce on him. "It's not working!"
Bumi crawls and runs away, chased by spirits. More spirits approaching. Two mecha tanks and Bumi. Bumi jumps in to one of them. Inside the mecha tank Bumi jumped into. Outside the mecha tank as the spirits surround Bumi before entering it. Bumi as the mecha tank begins to break down. Then the mecha tank's tread, which activates. It begins to drive into tents. The soldier run away.
"Get me out of here!" Bumi shouts.
Bumi activates a lever. Outside the mecha tank as it fires off a grappling hook. There a tower as the hook latches on. Cut to a side-view of the mecha tank as it begins to swinging around the tower, destroying tents as it goes. As the mecha tank continues to destroy it all, a tent that gets knocked over showing two soldiers playing a board game and one sleeping. Most of the compound is destroyed. As the spirits show themselves, Bumi becomes scared. Bumi pulls the eject lever. Bumi is propelled out. Bumi slides into the tent where the rest of Team Avatar are captured, knocking over Eska and Desna in the process.
"All right guys, rescue time."
Eska and Desna get back up and glare at Bumi. Naga and Pabu came bursting into the tent and knock out the surprised twins. The others look on in surprise. The compound as the final tower falls.
"Bumi, how in the name of God did you manage to take out this entire encampment on your own?" Tenzin asked.
"I did it all with my trusty flute and... ah, never mind, you wouldn't believe it anyway. Let's get moving."
Bumi marches off followed by the others. The bunkers near the portal as the group approaches.
The entire group in a forest clearing. Tonraq is being held up by Mako.
"You run into the portal, I'll try to hold off anyone who comes after you." Tonraq said.
"No, you're too hurt, you need a healer." Korra said. Asami, Dallas, can you take Oogi and my dad back to my mom?"
"Mhmm." Korra nodded before she and Dallas walks toward Oogi.
"This is my fight now." Korra said.
"Korra, I love you." Tonraq hugs Korra.
"I love you too, Dad."
Asami, Tonraq and Dallas on Oogi. "Yip-yip." said Asami. Oogi takes off. Korra watches Oogi leave.
"Once we're inside, you go find Jinora." Korra said before she turns to Mako and Bolin. "Mako and Bolin will take care of Unalaq, while I close the portal so Vaatu can't escape."
"Wait a second. Worst-case scenario: So we're fighting Unalaq, you close the portals and let's just say something happens to you. Are we going to be trapped in there for eternity?" Bolin asked.
"If everything goes as planned, we'll all walk out together after Harmonic Convergence. If not..." She pauses for a second and makes an unsure look. Then she makes a brave face. "Let's go."
At the portal as the group run toward it. Inside the Spirit World with a view of the Tree of Time. Spirits encircle the tree as Unalaq waits. Unalaq as he turns to the portal. Korra, Bolin, Mako, Tenzin, Kya, and Bumi enter the Spirit World. Unalaq who, along with the spirits, begins to attack. The spirits approaching Team Avatar.
"Tenzin, go find Jinora!" Korra said to Tenzin. "C'mon!" Tenzin shouts.
Tenzin, Kya, and Bumi runs off to find Jinora. Korra enters the Avatar state and dashes forward, preparing to airbend. As she unleashes a wave of air, the spirits are rebuffed by the airbending. Unalaq leaps off the shadow he was on and begins to waterbend. A pond of water that Unalaq uses to slow his descent by turning it in to ice to slide down. As he lands he begins to waterbend again. Bolin and Mako run forward and begin bending their respective elements to stop Unalaq. Korra rushes off toward the Southern Portal. As Korra approaches the portal, she reaches the portal and enters the Avatar State. She attempts to close it. Unalaq attempting to break through Mako and Bolin's defense. Mako dodges Unalaq's attack before continuing his own with Bolin. Mako is launched into the air by Bolin's earthbending. As Mako's attack is repelled and he is sent flying backward by Unalaq's attack. Unalaq repels Bolin's attack.
Korra continues her attempt to close the portal.
"You're running out of time, Raava, Korra. I know you feel it coming." Vaatu said.
At the sun as the planets begin to align. Korra is knocked backward by a pulse of energy. The two portals as their energy begins to collide. Korra watches on. Outside the portal in the South Pole, as Desna and Eska are knocked backward by a wave of energy falling backward as the wave continues. Some cliffs as the wave spreads. The entire planet as waves from both poles spread across the entire planet. At Republic City, as a wave passes by. On a street of Republic City, where Sheng, Beifong and other citizens of Republic City looking up at the sky. The entire planet again as the two waves converge.
At the shores of the Southern Water Tribe, at Azula's battleship, Azula sees that hers and Unalaq's plans are finally complete.
Inside the Spirit World as the two portals begin to create lightning that hits the Tree of Time. The lightning stops and it goes dark briefly before energy explodes from the tree. As the energy expands and dissipates, Vaatu emerges. Korra, Bolin, and Mako sees him free. And Unalaq grins evilly. Vaatu as he begins to laugh.
