We're back on 14th final chapter of Book 2.
REMINDER: I DO NOT OWN LEGEND OF KORRA OR ANY OF THE CHARACTERS.
At Republic City, the sky illuminated by spirit lights. Police airships and United Forces battleships are deployed to protect the mainland. Air Temple Island, at the balcony where Pema and her three younger children are standing.
"Oooo... Pretty." Ikki said.
At a police airship where Sheng and Chief Lin Beifong are in.
"Okay. Here goes." Sheng took a deep breath and picks up an intercom. "General Iroh, are your ships in position?"
"Yes, Mr. Ichiro. But I need to know what kind of enemy we're dealing with." Iroh said.
As Iroh is speaking, the sky lights up and lightning plunges into the sea. The wave it creates pushes back one of the battle ships.
"It's time to take back the physical world." Vaatu's voice in the sky said.
In Iroh's battleship, where he watches the lightning struck the battleships.
The wave head toward the battleships, scattering them. At Air Temple Island, where Pema and her children got scared.
"Storm attack!" Meelo said in fear.
At the Spirit World, where Azula in her large robot body and her ninety-nine robots emerges from the portal. Tenzin and his siblings are watch them, behind a boulder. Azula approaches to Unalaq and the mindless Korra.
"What's the problem? Why aren't you fusing with Vaatu right now?" Azula asked.
"He rejected me and fused with Korra instead. We fought, but she stood there like this." Unalaq said.
"WHAT?! Vaatu fused with HER?! We'll have to kill her to get both him and Raava out of her body. I will not have her alive to interfere with our plans."
"We can't kill her while she's like this. Her spirit is obviously fighting Vaatu in her mind right now." Unalaq said.
They're looking at Korra's mindless body. Inside her mind, Korra, Raava and all the past Avatars are fighting Vaatu, who is frustrated.
"WHY CAN'T YOU ALL JUST GIVE UP?! I AM IN CONTROL!"
"We're not giving up, Vaatu! We'll never give up!" Korra said before she firebends Vaatu. Aang, Wan, Kyoshi, Roku and Szeto joins her. Vaatu gets up and blasts them with purple energy, but the Avatars dodges.
"Look at you all. You all always fight for everything you cared about!" Vaatu shouts. "Why? What does love and harmony really means to you all?"
"What does that have to do with you?" Korra asked before Vaatu looks uncertain.
"Nothing." Vaatu answered. "Now… now die, Avatars." Vaatu charges at the Avatars.
Back at Republic City, multiple planes fly by the sky. Lightning struck a plane with his tendrils. The pilot manages to eject before the plane is pulled down and slammed onto the water surface where is explodes. Inside the airship where Sheng and Lin watch the damage done.
Sheng gets worried. "That Vaatu spirit is going to destroy the entire world."
An energy beam shoots from the sky, destroying the tail propellers. The airship begins spinning and hurtling toward nearby buildings. Multiple police officers brace themselves. Lin pulls a lever, opening the back door, and gestures for her officers to bail out.
"We're going down!" Lin shouts.
Multiple metalbender cops jump out of the airship, shooting their cables for a safe landing. Sheng walks up and clings on to Lin, who aims her cables at a rooftop gargoyle before jumping off. The duo lands on a roof, where they continue observing the damage. Vines emerges grounds which engulf the harbor and many Republic City landmarks. At Varrick's cell where Varrick is exercising while listening to a radio.
"It's pandemonium in the streets! Giant vines are destroying everything. This is Shiro Shinobi, signing off!"
As Shiro signs off, a large vine destroys the wall of the cell, throwing the radio and Zhu Li off balance, but completely missing Varrick who coincidentally ducked during his exercise. He walks up to the hole and puts on a pair of goggles.
"Zhu Li, commence 'Operation Winged Freedom'." Varrick said Zhu Li ties a backpack to herself before latching onto Varrick's back. She tightens the clasp around Varrick's waist before the duo leaps off the cell.
"Do the thing!"
The backpack opens up into wings, and the duo soars off into the skies.
Back to the Spirit World, Tenzin, Kya and Bumi are hiding behind the boulder.
"Those robots are sure strong and big. What do we do, Tenzin?" Bumi asked. "Should we attack them?"
"We'll do what it takes to save Korra. We fight back." Tenzin said before the three children of Aang jumped from the boulder.
"CHARGE!"
Tenzin, Kya and Bumi charges at Unalaq, Azula and her robots who are looking at them.
"They're too late to save her now." Unalaq said. "Leave them to my troops. Attack them!" Azula ordered her robots.
The robots charges at Aang's children. Tenzin airebended on one robot, but it dodges and mimics Tenzin's bending.
"The robots can copy our bending!" Kya shouts. "But I've got no bending!" Bumi smirks as he attamed to kick a robot in the groin, but it hurts Bumi's leg.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow!"
"Bumi, what was that?!" Tenzin asked before a robot knocks out Tenzin and Bumi.
"No one messes with my brothers." Kya said before she waterbends the robots, but they are appeared to be waterproof. At least sixty-eight robots gathered around her.
Tenzin, Bumi, Kya, Mako and Bolin are all tied up. Mako looks at Korra's body with a worried look. He turns to Unalaq and Azula.
"Unalaq! Azula! What are you going to do to Korra?! Kill her?!" he asked angrily.
"That's the idea, and I'll force Vaatu in me. And I'll finally become the Dark Avatar." Unalaq answered.
"And we're going to enslave humanity, and force them to service my robot armies." Azula answered as well. "First the Northern and Southern Tribes, then the United Nations, then the planets, then the universe, then the multiverse, and who knows? Maybe that'll be enough."
"That is a lot." Bolin said. "I'll say." Bumi agreed.
"And the best part: You all won't be there alive." Azula said with the evil grin she had when she battled Zuko a long time ago.
In Korra's mind, Vaatu tries to blast Korra, but she blocked it with waterbending and uses it on him. Vaatu fell down, then in a second he stands up in defeat.
"Why are you doing this? You would have just let me win. What is it do you fight me for?" Vaatu asked.
"I do this for my family, my friends, and my home. I do this for the people I love, something you know nothing about." Korra answered.
"Love. Such a strong word. Strong and strange. I never learnt it, nor had it all my life." Vaatu said in a calm way.
"That's because all you always do is corrupt and destroy everything that's pure. You turned spirits dark. You would have done it to the world." Raava said.
"Yes. I only did all those deeds is because, I'm confused. All my life, I had this feeling, a feeling I don't understand. Every time I watch humans, all I saw was love, harmony. God made this world that way. I destroyed everything, creating an era of darkness, but I still had that feeling. What is this feeling I've been trying to ignore all these 10,00000 years? Tell me!"
Korra looks at Vaatu, hearing what he said. He walks to him and puts her hand on Vaatu. "I think that feeling is you just wanted love." she said.
"How would you know?" Vaatu asked.
"You tried to destroy the world is because you are in denial that you wanted to be good. You should have said that before." Raava said.
"If that's what you want, then why not stop being dark?" Wan asked. "You could change, be a different spirit." Aang.
"But, I'm always the Spirit of Darkness. How could I redeem myself?" Vaatu asked.
Jinora's spirit appeared in Korra's mind "Why not see every Avatar's memories?"
"Jinora." Korra said.
"So, this is my granddaughter." Aang said before he hugs his granddaughter.
"It's good to meet you, Grandpa Aang." Jinora said. "Likewise, Jinora." Aang said as he smiles.
"See every Avatar's memories? How?" Vaatu asked.
"Maybe Korra can help you with that." Roku said. "I can?" Korra asked.
"If you show Vaatu all memories of every Avatar, then it can show him what love is really about." Szeto said.
"You can connect yourself to him, as we and Raava are connected to you." Kyoshi said.
"It's up to you now, Korra." Avatar Gun said before all the past Avatars merges in Korra.
Korra places her hands on Vaatu, showing her the memories of each Avatar. The visions shows Aang kissing Katara. Kyoshi with her best friends, Yun and Rangi. Aang battling the Fire Lord Ozai. Roku marrying Ta Min. Every vision shows memories of the Avatar battling evil for everything he, or she loves. Then the visions shows Korra fighting Amon and Turrok and Equalists with her friends on her side. The last visions shows Korra with her friends and Korra kissing Mako. The visions fade. There by Korra, Raava, Vaatu and Jinora.
"Is this love was really about?" Vaatu asked. "Of course, love is strong. And the entire world is full of it." Korra answered.
"See, Vaatu? Now you understand everything you really needed. What shall you'll do now?" Raava asked.
"If… if I can't create an age of darkness, then I must maintain the balance of good and evil to the world." Vaatu said before a vision of Unalaq and Azula attempting to kill Korra's friends.
"We have to stop Unalaq and Azula, or everyone in all nations are in danger." Korra determined.
"Yes, we must, and we will do it together." Raava said.
"And I will join you. I, too, now a second Avatar Spirit. I tried to destroy the world, but I was wrong. You, Korra, have made me realized the matter of peace, harmony, courage, and love. Thank you." Vaatu said before he and Raava merges with Korra. Her eyes glows white light and orange-red.
"Together, we are… the Avatar of the Balance." Korra, Raava and Vaatu said.
At the Spirit World, Azula tried to firebend Mako and Bolin and Unalaq attamed to kill Aang's children with waterbending, but Korra, in her Ultimate Avatar State waterbended them, washing them down. The two villains stands up and got surprised of what they saw.
"Raava, and Vaatu, merging in Korra? Together?!" Unalaq asked in disbelief.
"NO! NO! I CANNOT LOSE TO THE AVATAR AGAIN! ROBOTS, ATTACK HER! KILL HER!" Azula ordered her army to charge at the reboot Avatar.
The robots charges to Korra, each of them uses earthbending, firebending, waterbending and airebending, but Korra neutralizes a wall with waterbending. She lightningbends the robots. All ninety-nine exploded, leaving Azula and Unalaq was shocked when the robots are destroyed.
"MY ARMY!" Azula shouts in disbelief.
"I'm still going to destroy you, Avatar Korra!" Unalaq said before he tried to waterbend Korra.
She shields herself from Unalaq's water attacks with fire before exiting her air spout. On the ground, she directs three rocks, knocking Unalaq off his waterspout. Unalaq manages to remain in the waterspout and direct two water streams at Korra, which she manages to nimbly dodge. Korra propels herself with earthbending and throws three fire blasts at Unalaq. Unalaq throws a large water whip at Korra, which she manages to catch, before freezing it and tossing him off his waterspout. Korra bends out another water whip and traps Unalaq in an iceblock.
"You'll never stop me, Avatar Korra! In this body, I have become more powerful than before!" Azula said.
She tries to us lightningbend on Korra, but the lightning doesn't sting her.
"Haven't you just seen how I took down your robots? I'm rebooted. I am the Avatar of the Balance." Kora said with Raava's, Vaatu's and her past lives voices.
Korra blows Azula with airbending. She falls down for a second. Azula stands back up and firebends Korra. The fire hasn't burned Korra at all.
"Not even fire can kill you? Why would Vaatu help you beat me?"
"How about seen the error of my ways and decided to be… shall we say a good guy? That's what." Vaatu answered in Korra's body.
Korra eathbends a round boulder, using lavabending to merge it into a hot molten lava ball. She throws it at the dome around Azula's head. Azula got terrified of the lava ball and then she trips. Her head fell off from the robot body. Korra lighningbends the body and it explodes. Azula's head start rolling until she stopped. She tries to run with her spider legs, but Korra airbends a small tornado and Azula flies around.
"No! Stop! Stop it now! Put me down!"
"Okay. I'll stop, 'President Raiko'." Korra jokingly before she stops the tornado and Azula falls down the ground and went unconscious. Jinora's spirit appears to her father.
"I'll see you soon, Dad." she said before she disappears and returns to her body.
Meanwhile, at the healing hut, where Jinora awakens from her coma. She turns to smile at Asami, Dallas, Kaori and her grandmother. Katara approaches her and gave her a hug.
"Gran-Gran, I missed you." Jinora said. "What about Korra and the others?" Korra asked.
"Don't worry, they're all right. Korra, Raava and Vaatu saved the world."
"And Vaatu? What do you mean?" Dr. Franceschini said.
"Vaatu never understand love, so I went in Korra's mind and she and I helped him understand. And he helped Korra defeat Unalaq and Azula." Jinora said before Dallas picks up a photo of the Dark Avatar from his pocket. The photo fades into blank.
"He never understands love, right?" the doctor asked. Uncle Dallas, what is it?" Kaori asked.
"I believe Korra has done it. She altered the future. The dark spirit apocalypse never happened."
"She, did it?" Kaori asked in joy. "She saved the future."
Kaori hugs her uncle in happiness and Tonraq and Senna hug each other in the same way.
Back at the Spirit World where Korra walks her allies and unties them. Raava emerges from Korra and flies toward Korra, allowing her to hop and, and subsequently soars to the overlapping portals. Korra reaches out for the portal, which releases yellow bolts of energies from the overlapping portals. As Harmonic Convergence passes, the portals separate again. Earth, where the spirit lights retreat. The portals now stand upright. Korra glows white with a white and red half imprint of Raava and Vaatu on her chest, before descending.
Korra descends back to the ground, using an air spout to slow her fall. She opens her eyes, which glow momentarily before fading.
"It's over." she said.
Mako, Bolin, and Tenzin run up to Korra. Mako hugs and kisses her.
"I don't even know what to say." Mako said. "I do have something to say. I'll tell you soon." Korra said in a sad tone.
"You were amazing." Tenzin said.
"And the way you turned all gigantic like that, wow! I just wished Varrick was here to film it! It would be the greatest mover ever. After the Nuktuk chronicles of course." Bolin said excitedly.
Unalaq's body is still frozen in ice. "I deserve to be the new Avatar! This is my destiny!"
Korra walks to her uncle. "I can't kill you for what you've done to me, my family and my people. But I think Vaatu can put you in your prison here."
Vaatu emerges from Korra's body and grabs Unalaq. He flies away to Unalaq's prison while Unalaq yells in anger.
"Where will Vaatu put him?" Mako asks.
Meanwhile, at the Fog of Lost Souls, where Vaatu throws Unalaq to the ground and bounded him in chains.
"What are you doing?!" Unalaq shouts.
"Your actions and your hunger for power has always been your undoing. And for your crimes, you shall be trapped in the Fog of Lost Souls."
Vaatu flies anway while Unalaq roars at him. Unalaq fades in the fog.
Back at the Spirit World, Vaatu returns and re-enters Korra's body. Then she walks to her cousins. "I'm sorry about your father."
"It seems cousin Korra is under the impression we're saddened by our father's imprisonment." Eska said.
"But I will not miss him at all. In the end, he became a deplorable man." Desna said. "Agreed. But how will we explain this to Mother?" Eska asked.
"So, I was thinking. I'm not really a fan of a long-distance relationship thing, so how about you move to Republic City with me." Bolin said.
"I do not think it will be possible." Eska said.
Bolin is somewhat disappointed. "Okay. Desna can come, too."
"I will not be joining you, Bolin. Desna and I must return home." Eska said.
"But you said..."
"Eternal darkness was upon us. I became caught up in the moment."
"Yeah. I guess I did too." Bolin said sadly.
Eska walks toward Bolin. "But, you will always hold the special place in the organ that pumps my blood. I will remember you fondly." She places her right hand to her heart, while smiling. "My turtle duck."
Bumi hears a chitter of a dragonfly bunny spirit from a distance. He turns to see a blue-colored dragonfly bunny spirit, Bum-Ju.
"Bum-Ju, you're okay." Bumi hugs Bum-Ju. "I missed you, little buddy."
Bum-Ju snuggles against Bumi. Tenzin and Korra walks to the northern portal.
"Why don't you close the portals, and we'll go home." Tenzin said.
Korra walks up to the portal and stretches out her hand. As she reaches for the portal, she relaxes her palm and brings it back.
"Maybe I shouldn't." Korra said.
"What do you mean?" Tenzin asked.
"What if Unalaq was right when he said the Avatar shouldn't be a bridge between the two worlds? What if Avatar Wan made a mistake when he closed the portals? What if humans and spirits weren't meant to live apart? Well, what do you two think I should do?"
"I think you should trust your instincts." Raava's voice said in her white imprint. "If that's what you've decided, I agreed with you." Vaatu's voice said in his red imprint.
"There is nothing else I can teach you. You are the Avatar. Whatever your decision, I support you." Tenzin said.
Korra smiles and looks at the portal. At the South Pole where Team Avatar exits the portal. At the healing hut, where Dallas and Kaori are standing near his time machine.
"Are you sure you two can't stay?" Tenzin asked.
"We'll have to make sure the past, present and future are as we expected to be: A peaceful timeline." Dallas answered.
Korra hugs Kaori. "Goodbye, Kaori." she said. "I'll see you in the future." Kaori said.
"You mean the past, present and future?" Korra asked.
"Exactly!" Dr. Franceschini answered before he and Kaori entered the time machine.
Dallas shuts the door, then suddenly, electrical beams around the machine. The time machine lifted and vanished.
At the palace, a large crowd has congregated. Inside the palace, Mako approaches Korra.
"Hey, can we talk now?" Mako asked softly.
"Of course." Korra said.
"There's something I've been wanting to tell you. I'm really sorry about that fight we had. I was angry. I never meant to hurt you. I needed the money, no, we needed the money. I just want a normal life with you."
"I know." Korra said. "I'm the one who should be sorry. I'm sorry for blowing at you."
"That's okay." Mako said before he holds Korra's hand. "I think we've both said things that we regret. I guess we should forget about the breakup."
"I'm not sure. I think we both know that this. Us? Doesn't work." Korra said.
"Don't say that. We can start over." Mako said.
"I'm still heart broken after you ratted me out to Raiko…Azula…whatever. I still haven forgive you, and I never will. It's over. For real this time. I'll never see you again."
Korra sheds a tear, while standing there in a moment of silence and walks off. Mako stood there heartbroken, shed a tear, realizing it's over between him and Korra.
Bolin sees everything. He slides toward Mako with a sad face. "You want a hug?" he asked before he awkwardly hugs his brother.
While Korra is walking, Vaatu emerges from her chest. "Are you sure that's what you've decided, Korra? You two should have been together again."
"Yes, this is my decision, Vaatu. I just don't want him to hurt me all over again." Korra answered sadly before Vaatu stops for a minute and Raava emerges from Korra and flies to him.
"Let it go, Vaatu. She'll change her mind, someday." Raava said.
"That poor boy…" Vaatu said sadly before he and Raava re-enters Kora's body.
Outside the palace, where Korra is making a speech, with her parents and Avatar Aang's family standing behind her. The crowd cheers for freedom after the defeat of Unalaq and Azula.
"The war of the Water Tribes is over. Unalaq and Azula has been defeated, and the Northern fleet is returning home. Unalaq has been imprisoned to exile in the Spirit World, and Azula has been sent to a maximum-security prison. The Water Tribes will always be allies, but the Southern Tribe is now independent, and the Southern Council of Elders has appointed my father, Tonraq, to be your new chief!"
As Tonraq walks up to greet the audience, he is greeted with thunderous cheers.
"I've realized that even though we should learn from those who came before us, we must also forge our own path. So that is why I've decided to keep the portals open. Humans can now physically enter the Spirit World, and spirits will be free to roam our world. I will no longer be the bridge. Humans and spirits must learn to live together. My mission will always be to use Raava's light spirit and Vaatu's dark spirit to guide the world toward peace and balance with them in me. Harmonic Convergence has caused a shift in the planet's energy. I can feel it. Things will never be the same again. We're entering a New Age, and the Avatar of the Balance shall lead it."
Book 2 is finished. Vaatu is now a good guy and gets along with Raava and Korra.
Book 3 will come soon.
