Chapter 5- Operation Big Bird

"Astrid!" Yelled Hiccup as he followed her. "Come on Astrid please talk to me" he begged and she suddenly stopped in her tracks and Hiccup almost ran into her. "You think only because i said i was worried about you that i automatically love or NEED you? No i don't love neither do i need you Hiccup. So stay out of my way" "but Astrid" he tried to say and got slapped across the Face. Hiccup stood there holding his cheek and a sad Face.

2 days ago

"Astrid, hey" Snotlout greeted her. "Hi Snot what's up?" She replied. "I need to tell you something" he said "you know that berserk girl Heather right?" He continued "yeah? What's about her?" Astrid asked. "Well i saw a specific Viking who you really like cough cough Hiccup cough cough making out with her on the lonely island west of Berk" she looked and didn't really belived him but then she got suspicious about Hiccup because she remembered how he always flew on his own and always come back with a smile. Then it hit her. Snotlout was actually right. Kinda. "Thanks Snot" and then she ran of.

"should we follow her?" One of his friends asked "nah, we can care about her later when she dumps that fishbone" Snotlout replied.

Present

Hiccup saddled Toothless after he got yelled at by Astrid for a reason he didn't knew. They headed to the base where a Team of 10 soldiers where preparing for an attack.

Hiccup was really sad that he got yelled at by her and the fact that he got slapped by HER made it 10 times worse. He landed outside of the base and walked in. "Hey Hic. What ya doing here?" Cooper asked him as he saw him "I wanted to ask when the next Mission is going to come" he asked him. "Well.. for now it's nothing planed for you guys. Our guys are going to execute an operation against a Hunter FOB. We have managed to find out where they hold the majority of their captured Dragons before they get transferred to their buyers. It was pretty darn hard to find those suckers but one of our Drones found it. Somehow." Cooper explained to Hiccup. "Them i'm coming with you" Hiccup said with a determined face. "Sorry Hiccup but no" Cooper said. After a long discussion Hiccup managed to convince Cooper that they needed him for this Operation because he could calm the Dragons and let them to fight with them.

The Operation was executed by the Delta Squad where Davis and Droze where. Toothless had to stay at the Base since there wasn't enough Space in the Osprey (V-22).

3h later

After a long flight in the Tilt-Rotor-Airplane-Helicopter thing they reached their destination and landed. The Osprey flew back up in the air and headed back to base for refueling. The island they where on was pretty big and their target was in the center where a huge building should be.

"Hiccup, did you wanted to come with us?" Asked Davis. "Well to be honest. I just wanted to get away from Berk and the others" his expression sad. "Is it about that blonde Girl you like? What was her name? Astrid?" Droze asked from behind them. Hiccup turned his face to Droze and nodded slightly. "Aight tell me what happened?" Asked Droze. "Well.." he began but was cut off "pssst. Contact 12 o'clock" Delta-1 the Squad Sergeant said and pointed to a wooden Guard tower ahead. Everyone went left and right and went in a prone position to dodge the sight of the guards. 2 soldiers in the front of the row shot their silenced rifles and dropped the 2 Guards. "Tangos down, path clear. Move" Delta-1 said.

They walked on through a forest dirt road and killed every Dragon Hunter until they reached the Center where a huge flat area was with a couple of buildings and cages. But... no Dragons. The Squad walked into the little village but no one was there. Not a single soul.

"Station. Here Delta-1. This is a Ghost town. Nothing lives here. Requesting UAV over-" "aaaargh i'm hit" a soldier yelled from behind. Suddenly the buildings collapsed. Behind the tree line flew rocks and arrows fired from Catapults, crossbows and Ballistas. Roars came from the forest and Dragons fired their Fire or Spines at the Soldiers.

"Ambush! Get cover" yelled another Soldier but was struck with an Nadder spine shortly after. The soldiers ran for cover behind the collapsed buildings or dug themselves a foxhole. The Squad was build out of 2 SAW gunners, 2 grenadiers, 1 sergeant (squadleader), 2 Marksman and 3 rifleman and not to forget Hiccup.

Droze was one of the SAW gunners and returned fire as Delta-4 and Davis was one of the 2 Grenadiers as Delta-5. Davis fired his grenades from his M203 until he ran out of ammo. Then he started to fire from his rifle. Droze fired at the approaching Dragon hunters and dropped one after another. The Hunters started to flank them and dropped another Soldiers. From the 11 that where sent died already 3. a Nadder wich was chained to a Hunter was pulled around the left flank of the Squad and then it fired it's Spines and hit the second Grenadier (Delta-6) in the upper Torso and he dropped dead after a painful scream. The Hunter and the Nadder where then shot by the Two marksman.

30 min passed and they where still in a intense fire fight and ran low on ammunition. "This is Delta-2. We have multiple casualties and we are running low on ammunition. We got in an Ambush. The Intel we got was Wrong we need Air-Support immediately or we all are going to die here, over" Delta-2 the radio Operator yelled over his radio under intense enemy fire. "Roger that Delta. An Warthog callsign Archangel is coming. 10 minutes. Hold tight" the operator on Berk said.

10 min later another Soldier was KIA and as the soldiers lost all hope and most of them where out of ammo the characteristic BRRRRRT! came from the A-10's 30mm. "Archangel good hits. You need to adjust your angle of attack more to the north and shoot at the tree line north of our Position. Friendly troops marked by green Smoke. Give them Hell, over"Delta-2 said and threw a green smoke grenade a couple of feet away from him. Then another BRRRRRT! came with rockets and blew the area away.

The A-10 made a couple of more overflights and then flew away after the situation was safe. More or less. After the Ambush only 4 Soldiers where alive. But where's Hiccup?
