Chapter 9: Halloween Activities
One chilly second Saturday of October 2022, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri, along with some of my other best friends Alex Russo, Justin Evans, Max Greenwald, Carly Shay, and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson, at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties client Brooke Leesaw's apartment in Penn Hills. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. "I am so excited about my Halloween sleepover next Saturday," Brooke happily stated. "You guys will never guess what we are going to do." "What all are you going to do?" Henri happily asked. "Well, we are going to play Pin the Eyes on the Witch, have a three-legged monster race, and also bob for apples," Brooke told us. "By the way, you always listen to the same music every week. Aren't you going to play any Halloween music?" "We actually do have a Halloween playlist, Brooke," I told her. "We just like listening to Kate Bush, Lizzo, NSYNC, and 98 Degrees every week, you know, since those are some of our favorite artists!" "Aren't you going to have any food at your party?" Henri asked. "Yes, we will be making Scary Face Pizzas, I Scream Sundaes, and Halloween cookies," Brooke replied. "I just hope that your sleepover is not too wild and scary, like Molly's Sweet 16 party was," Sarah pointed out. "It might have been wild and scary for you and Angel, but it was not scary for me because I actually knew all of these people," James stated. "You girls were actually not supposed to be there, but I couldn't control your behavior." "What was your favorite Halloween costume, James?" Brooke asked. "When I dressed up as a cowboy, that was fun because little kids love cowboys and I also got to help hand out candy," James replied. "Are you looking forward to your birthday party this Tuesday, Brooke?" Carly asked. "I think that it is going to be as fun as the first wedding when my mom married Freddie." "I am looking forward to the caramel apple nacho bar," Spencer stated. "The breakfast bar will be exciting to see," Mr. Benson pointed out. "Pancakes, waffles, and doughnuts galore!" "After our shift is over, would you like to come to Nutrition Group with me, Brooke?" Alex asked. "Sure, Alex," Brooke replied. "What do you do at Nutrition Group, anyway?" "We just talk about eating the right foods and exercising in order to stay healthy," Alex stated. "By the way, I read your journal entries and played your Jeopardy game, and it was awesome!" Brooke exclaimed. "You were Salutatorian of your high school, cool!" "That was my lie in 2 Truths and a Lie, because I was not Valedictorian of my high school," Alex stated. "I was Valedictorian, though," Justin added. "The SATs were a rough time in high school for an otherwise great year of high school," Max pointed out. "I agree," Brooke stated. "Even though I never knew you at first, I always considered you a best female friend," Alex stated. "It probably was not the same for Justin at Mercyhurst University and Max at Indiana University of Pennsylvania!" After we helped Brooke go shopping for everything that she needed for her Halloween sleepover next Saturday, we all headed off to Alex's nutrition group, in which Alex's lunch recipes were crustless miniquiches and potato salad, and her dinner recipe was a shrimp and pasta dinner. Then, we talked with 3 more clients Abigail, Isabella, and Lauren about their excitement to come for the new year of 2023, which was only 3 months away. Then, it was time for all of us to go home for the night. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
