Unreality
Darcy opens the door and heads downstairs, cautious but willing to try and make the most of this experience.
Marcy sits alone in the dark corner of mind, wondering how this happened and if Darcy is real. She can't help but think they're just a figment of her imagination, created to protect her from the trauma she endured in Amphibia. She wishes she could just let them go, but knows it's not that simple.
Once Darcy arrives in the kitchen, they're not surprised to see everyone waiting for them, looking concerned.
"Marcy, we called your parents and they want you to come home right away." Mrs. Boonchuy said.
"They're glad you're safe, but they're worried about you." Mr. Boonchuy said.
My parents, thank goodness. Darcy, you need to go home with them or at least tell Anne and Sasha what's going on. This isn't Amphibia, you're not in power here. Everyone's just going to worry until you tell the truth.
Darcy realizes Marcy might be right.
"Actually, Anne, Sasha, I need to tell you something." Darcy said.
Anne and Sasha sit next to Marcy, relieved she's finally being honest about what's going on.
Suddenly, something takes over and Darcy's vision starts to blur, everything around them disappears as they lose touch with reality.
Marcy can tell something's wrong, a familiar feeling of uncomfortable fear comes over her, so she tries to speak up.
"What's going on? Darcy, what happened? Am I in control again?" Marcy asked.
"Marcy, are you okay?" Anne asked.
"And what's this about Darcy? Are they back?" Sasha asked.
Marcy opens her eyes and realizes she's back in control, but Darcy's gone.
"I don't know what happened. Darcy was in control, that's who you were talking to most of the time, but now they're gone. I…I don't know if Darcy's real or not and that's what scares me." Marcy said.
Anne and Sasha hug Marcy.
"You're going to be okay. I promise we'll get through this." Anne said.
"Yeah, remember I've beat Darcy before and I'm not going to let them hurt you again." Sasha said.
Marcy smiles, wiping away her tears.
"Thank you. I don't know what's going on with me, but I know you'll always be here for me and that's enough to keep me strong." Marcy replied.
Suddenly, the trio sees small glowing lights in the palm of their hands, glowing with the colors of their stones, Anne's blue, Sasha's pink, and Marcy's green. They all stare in wonder as they watch the lights change shape, forming into what looks like their calamity stones.
The lights go out and the trio's left holding each of their stones in their hands. Curious and amazed, they look at one another wondering what they're going to do.
"What just happened?" Sasha asked.
"I think the power of friendship recreated our stones! That or Anne's celestial powers had something to do with it. Either way, that's some cool anime power stuff right there!" Marcy replied.
Anne stares at her blue stone, then back at Sasha and Marcy with a smile.
"This is amazing. Maybe Marcy, or Darcy, is right. We could find a way to use these stones to go back to Amphibia." Anne said.
Marcy looks down at her green stone with longing for the fantasy adventure she's missed, but realizes she should think rationally about all of this.
"I would love to go back, but I don't want to be the one to make that decision. What do you both think?" Marcy asked.
"I think we should take a moment to think this through. We just helped Marcy come back to herself after being under Darcy's control. This might be too much for all of us." Sasha replied.
Anne partly agrees, but deeply misses Hop Pop, Sprig, and Polly so much. She'd love to go back and see everyone again, but knows she needs to take her friends' perspectives into consideration.
"I think Sasha's right. Now's not the right time, but it's good to know we have that option if we ever do decide to go back." Anne said.
Marcy nods, knowing it's a good decision to keep her away from Amphibia, at least until she figures out what's going on with Darcy.
Anne and Sasha put the stones away in their pockets, still curious about what it would be like to go back but willing to wait.
All of the sudden, Marcy hears that familiar voice in her head.
You did it! You got Anne to create the stones. I guess you were right about the power of friendship. Now it's your choice. What are you going to do with this power?
Marcy looks at her stone before putting it away, holding onto the possibility of going back. Then she puts it away in her pocket.
"I'm not going to keep secrets anymore. I heard Darcy again. They want to go back to Amphibia, but I'm not going to let them make that decision. I'm in control now and I have you two by my side to help me when my dark thoughts and emotions take over. It's over Darcy." Marcy said.
Anne and Sasha smile, tearful but proud of Marcy for standing up for herself.
"You're right, Darcy may be a part of you now, but they can't hurt you if you don't give them that power." Anne said.
"Easier said than done, but I believe in you. You got this!" Sasha added.
"Thanks Anne and Sasha. And thank you Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy for letting me stay here, but I think I'm ready to go home now. I have to let my parents know I'm okay and I miss them." Marcy said.
"Of course, Marcy. We'll take you home." Mrs. Boonchuy said.
With that, Marcy heads out to the car with Anne, Sasha, and the Boonchuy's. They all get inside and start driving, watching as the road passes them by.
The road ahead is filled with uncertainty. Now that the trio has the stones, they can go back to Amphibia.
Marcy holds the green stone up to the window, watching as the light reflects it, making it shine.
Sitting in the middle, Sasha puts her hand on Marcy's shoulder and takes Anne's hand.
"Don't worry, Marcy. We have the stones now, so we'll always have the option to go back to Amphibia if we want to." Sasha said.
"Yeah, you're right. I'm learning to let go of fantasy, but part of me misses it and it makes me happy. Maybe there's a balance. I guess that's something I'll have to figure out." Marcy replied.
"You will, but for now let's just take things one day at a time." Anne replied.
