She was much more amicable on a full stomach, though it took another three bowls to accomplish.

The way she gushed over the flavours had Sesshoumaru offering to make more.

"You've done enough," she said, waving him off. "Especially after I was so rude to you."

"Indeed." The single word earned him more laughter and a soft swat to his arm.

"You're not supposed to agree with me!" she admonished, dishes clinking as she placed them in the drying rack. He'd been against her getting up at all, but she was proving to be exceedingly stubborn.

He brushed his fingers against her forehead. "You are still warm," he stated.

"It'll pass. It's not as bad as last time," she said, avoiding his gaze as she walked back towards the table, her eyes skimming the open pages of the abandoned textbooks.

"Last time?" He gave her an incredulous look. "You collapsed."

"PhDs don't wait for anything," she said, pulling out a chair with a shrug.

Successfully distracted, he followed her gaze to the lines of text, the medical jargon creasing his brows. "You are quite young to require that much schooling."

She brushed him off again. "I want to help people."

It was such a simple statement, a simple wish, yet it differed so greatly from his view of her that all thoughts of leaving disappeared.
