"INCENDIA."
The burning ashes of the white oak bark distinguished into pieces as it spread through the air as it pierced through Caroline's lung but a form of comfort entered her. She glanced down to see her two daughters gripping her hand as they chanted the spell, with their eyes shut close.
She just planned on committing arson with matches and gasoline but she knew this was good practice for her daughters, as she noticed a slight difference in their magic. It seems stronger than before, which confused her.
Caroline shook her head glancing back at the burning bridge and sign, the orangey color had such a mesmerizing gaze into dark starry night. The stars brighten as a way to show comfort to the family of three.
Josie glanced at her mother wondering why she wanted to burn the sign down. But she knew her mother had her reasonings. So, instead she let out a squeal as did Lizzie for how much fun it was. Josie tugged her mother's hand, "What is next momma?"
Lizzie eyed her mother in curiosity as Caroline bent down to their level as she brought them into a hug, she spoke to them in a teasing tone, "Now, we go back home and get some beauty sleep."
"But we are not tired, mommy," mustard out Lizzie as Caroline had a soft smile on her face. She nodded at her words, "I know sweetie but the next days are going to be pretty chaotic and I need you both to be rested. Because no matter what you all mattered to me the most."
Josie tilt her head in curiosity, glancing at her mother, "More superhero stuff, momma?"
Caroline nodded as she let out a chuckle for the way they all have labeled it. Which was way more complicated but it did make things easier for Caroline to explain to the energetic girls. The twins squealed as they wrapped their tiny arms around their mother as Caroline closed her eyes enjoying the embrace. She picked them up and flashed them home.
Entering her home, Caroline had froze seeing her mother there. She sighs knowing that her mother deserves to know the truth and make sure everything works out but deep down she knew it was not time for her to reveal the truth yet.
Liz stared at her daughter in shock as she saw two little girls that resembled her daughter in a way. Liz took a step forward, "Caroline?"
Josie and Lizzie recognized the woman from the photos and stories that their mother told them. The two girls are really smart for her their age as they stood in place next to their mother, who bent down at there level, "My little butterflies, how about you guys head upstairs, as mommy needs to have a grown-up talk."
The twins nodded as they ran upstairs to their mother's room, as Caroline sighs turning to her mother who was shifting gaze between her and the stairs where her daughters had gone up. Liz eyed her daughter, "We obviously need to talk."
Caroline nodded as she pressed her palms against her jeans, rubbing her nerves away. They moved to the couch and sat down as it was silent between them. Caroline sighs as she glances at her mother who had narrowed her eyes at her, "Who are those little girls?"
"My daughters," mumbled Caroline as she shifted her gaze to see the disbelief on her mother's face. Caroline folded her arms as she let out a shaky breath, "I know you have questions and I can't tell you everything for your safety."
Is better if no one knew the upcoming events from the future because id any word or a slip up; came out then it would risk many things. Plus her mother is currently buddy-buddy with Damon, who is a person she does not trust. Liz gave a stifled nod, "Okay then what can you tell me?"
Caroline sighs as she glances at her, "Those two girls are my daughters and is very complicated, everything is to be honest. Iโ" she stopped herself for a moment as she spared her mother with a lie instead of telling her the truth. Is not that she does not trust her mother but this time their relationship is rocky.
Liz forms another idea in her head, as she glances at the blonde with worried eyes, "Caroline, sweetie, did you have them when you were around sixteen, and didn't tell me?"
Caroline bit her lip as she tilted her head in agreement. It was not a question she was expecting but it works out as she really has no clue what to say. She sighs, deciding to play along, "Yea, I never said anything, well to be fair we aren't that close mom and I didn't want to disappoint you. But those two girls are my lifeline."
Liz moved to her as she cupped her face, tears glistening into her eyes, "You can never disappoint me, Caroline. I'm sorry I haven't been the best mother but I will do my best."
"Thanks mom. Also don't tell anyone, I want to keep that way," muttered out Caroline as she wrapped her arms around her mother. Liz furrow brows but will keep her daughter's secret, "I promise not to say anything."
Caroline pulled away as she clasped her hand on her mother's. She sighs as she feels her mother's gaze on her, "What is it Caroline?"
Caroline let out a shaky breath, "Do you think you can go to the doctor and get a check-up?"
Liz furrowed her brows but nodded to her daughter, "I won't be able to go until end of the week due to work but I will," Caroline sighs in relief as offered smile to her, "Make sure you rest."
Liz nodded as silence fell upon them. Liz narrows her eyes as guilt consumes her. She has been a terrible mother and it sounds terrible but she has been a neglectful mother to a teenager girl who needs her more than ever.
She is present for her daughter's life financially but how about emotionally?
Liz remembers coming home from work seeing Caroline all tired and worked up but she never made a move to know more about her daughter's life. Liz shook her thoughts away glancing at her daughter, "Any reason you want me to visit the doctor?"
"Just because, mom. Just because."
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Caroline let out a groan as she sat down on her vanity gazing into the reflection as her ocean orbs fell upon a small scar behind her ear as she shut her eyes in reminder of how it got there in the first place. Shaking the violent thoughts aways, she stood up as so much will happen this week.
She eyed her daughters who were in the bathroom brushing their teeth. A soft smile was placed on her as she changed into denim jeans with a while silk crop top that had pink and red dots all over it. She paired it with black converse, and her hair was loose.
Lizzie came out of the bathroom as Caroline changed into her red and white dress with white boots. Caroline took out red or white as she gazed at Lizzie who pointed to the white clip, "That one mommy."
Caroline nodded as she brushed her blonde hair as she imputes the white hair clip on one side. Caroline turned to Josie who already changed to the clothes she picked out. A fond smile fell on Caroline as Josie tried to be really mature.
Caroline smiled as Josie was wearing black long-sleeve shirt, on top of it was strapped plaid browns and beige dress. The brunette finished her look with black boots. Caroline moved Josie's hair into half up and down with loose strands. Josie glanced at her mother, "No hair clips momma, please."
Caroline nodded as she kissed her forehead. They headed downstairs as they will have a road trip soon. Caroline exits the home and buckles her daughters in the car. Her mother left for work but she did want to meet her granddaughter in peace with time and not rushed so they are planning to do that.
Caroline felt a tag of sadness as her mother still decided to go to work and not even have glance at the twins but she shook it off. She sighs as from what she remembers Bonnie is officially back today and then Elena's necklace starts to be weird, which actually belongs to Rebekah.
She sighs glancing at her buzzing phone it was from an unknown number, she swiped the text opened, Hey landed safe! I will try to find more about you know what! Stay safe!
Caroline lets out an air of relief knowing that it is Andie, who is safe. Caroline entered her car as through the rearview mirror she eyed her daughters; she started the car as the rumbles of the engine clogged her ears. She sighs as she begins to drive.
Joise glanced at her mother, "Where are we going momma?"
"Chicago," mustard out Caroline. From, what she remembers is Damon and Elena are the ones that ended up going but Andie never died so, Damon does not figure it out just yet. Caroline lets out a sigh as she sees from her side view Lizzie glancing at her, "Why mommy?"
To be honest she was not too sure but she knew of the infamous witch that lives in that town. So, negotiable deals will need to be made. Caroline gripped the steering wheel, "To visit someone."
Curiosity peaked at the little girls but they stayed quiet. As they doze off to take a nap, while their mother drove them safely. Caroline glances at them with a soft smile.
She drove as thoughts consumed her. She knows Elena is key to making more hybrids which Klaus finds out pretty soon, then the necklace or talisman is the key to how he finds out, if she remembers correctly. Which belongs originally to original witch.
Then if her memory is correct Stefan and Klaus come back to town pretty soon. Which is they make their appearance during senior prank nightโ which is tomorrow.
Caroline bit her lip in frustration of why couldn't she go back in time further before the supernatural, when it would make things better to prevent more future things. Instead she came back to time where things just get more complicated.
She drove a few hours in until she decided to stop at diner for her daughters to get something to eat. She is glad she had blood in the morning. She parked and unbuckled her seatbelt, exiting the car as she unlocked the back door as Josie and Lizzie got out, each grabbing their mother's hand.
They entered the diner entering a booth with the three all sitting together onside. A waitress came by as Caroline gave her the orders. She sighs as leans her head against the seat with a soft smile on her face as her two daughters chatter away. The waitress came back with the order of chicken nuggets for each girl, and three milkshakes.
Caroline had a thing for milkshakes and will always have it. She is a sweets kind of girl plus ever since her transition she needs something to focus on, instead of thinking of blood all the time.
Her gaze fell upon her shake as she is here in Chicago but not exactly sure what to do. She knows from Stefan that he and Klaus spent time together in the 20s at a club, with witch Gloria; a club she owns.
Caroline sighs as back home Bonnie comes back and they find out about Jeremy seeing ghost stuff. She bit her lip knowing she will need to make sure that Bonnie does not die for anyone, she needs to live her life. Also she deserves someone better than Jeremy who in future literally cheats on her with a ghost.
"Mommy?"
Caroline snapped out of her thoughts as she eyed Lizzie who was staring outside the diner. Caroline furrowed her brows as she saw Stefan again. Talk about deja vu but what caught her attention was a blonde girl he was next to; Rebekah.
Caroline silently curses herself as she forgot Rebekah is awake at this time. Truth be told she has not still figured out anything to correlate her situation to the way her life is at this time. Josie peaked out the window, "Uncle Stef, has a pretty girlfriend."
Lizzie nodded to her sister's words, as soft smiles fell on Caroline for how innocent they were. She just wants to protect them and ensure they have a good future. Caroline slid out the booth as she paid for their meal, "My little butterflies ready?"
Twin girls nodded as Lizzie muttered to her mother and sister, "Your milkshakes are better, mommy."
Josie nodded in agreement as Caroline shook her head in amusement. They exited the diner, heading to her car when a familiar face caught her eyes from across the street. She made sure to buckle her daughters in as she furrowed her brows, what is Katherine doing here in chicago?
Caroline sighs as she enters her car, locking it as she drives further into the city. Caroline bit her lip. Maybe her being here was not a good idea but she needed to talk to Gloria. On a outside perception is a terrible idea but is something she needs to do.
Driving into the city she noticed her phone ring, she sighs as she curbs to park on the side of the street. She glanced at her girls as they had a mischievous glint in them. Caroline furrowed her brows as to what her girls were thinking. Caroline took out her phone as she saw it was an unknown caller but same from the text message from earlier, "Andie?"
The brunette girl on the other line, "Hey! So about this Acctisus Shane guy?"
"Yeah," Caroline put her head against the window. Andie who was in california gripped her new phone, "Well he is a professor that teaches of occult at whitmore but he recently moved a year ago."
Caroline furrowed her bows in confusion, that made no sense because he knew Sheila, unless he moved after her death. Caroline sighs as she glances at the backseat, "Where did he move to?"
"That's the thing, I don't know. I am having a hard time tracking him down but if I find anything, I'll let you know," mustered out Andie to the blonde girl. Caroline lets out a shaky breath, "Alright thanks Andie. Stay safe."
The phone line disconnected as she thought she might have a future problem solved but all she has solved is the whit oak stakesโ by burning the sign and bridge; she did save some ashes, for just in case purposes. She put on a smile as she turned to her daughters who were silent but had glint in their eyes, "Yes my babies?"
Josie and Lizzie looked at each other as they pointed to a store across from them which was a bookstore merged with toys as well, what an interesting thing.
Caroline glances at them as they stare at her with puppy eyes, which causes her to nod to them as they let out squeal. The three exited the car as they entered the store.
They walked further in as Lizzie paused observing at the many stuff animals to choose from, as Caroline had an amused expression on her. Josie tugged her mother's jeans softly, "Momma can I go get that one."
"Okay, but stay where I can see you," mumbled Caroline as she moved a piece of Josie's hair behind her ear. Josie nodded to her mother as it was the same aisle just further down. She ran to the end as fast as her tiny feet could take her.
She spotted a light brown stuff bear that she wanted, she tried to reach for it but couldn't. A shadow fell over Josie as they reached the bear and handed it to her. Josie glanced up to see a man with light curly blonde hair, "Thank you!"
The blonde man chuckled at her excitement. He glanced at the little girl who has a weird aura within her, as he felt three strong presence entered the store. The little girl waved at him, "I have to go back to my momma now. Thank you for helping."
Before the man could reply, the little girl ran down the aisle to a woman with blonde hair and a little girl with blonde hair. He could not see their faces, only the little girl that beamed at blonde woman who he assumed was their mother.
He furrowed his brows at the strong aurora those three have, he shook his head as he noticed the little brunette turn her head to his direction but he flashed out of there before she could spot him.
Josie turned, wanting to see the man that helped her, but he had disappeared. She frowned in confusion, "Jojo you okay? Do you want to pick another bear?"
Josie shook her head as her hands gripped on the bear that she chose. Caroline had frowned on her, for the sudden change of moods that Josie displayed. Caroline sighs, glancing down at the little blonde girl who pointed at a light blue butterfly shaped pillow, "I want that one mommy."
Caroline nodded as she reached for the butterfly pillow and grabbed the two girls hand as she made it to the register to pay. After she finished paying they exited the store back to her car. Caroline made sure they were buckled in.
She was about to enter the car until she felt a heated gaze on her. She turned to find where the gaze was coming from but didn't see anything. She shook her head as she spoke to herself, "I need some sleep."
Caroline drove away oblivious to a certain darkish-blonde hair man gazing at her car as she drove away. As the man could not help but to be intrigued at the blonde beauty and her two children.
Caroline felt weird as she glanced at the rear mirror but saw nothing, maybe she was just being paranoid. After driving around she found the club but police were surrounding the place. Caroline tilted her head, what the hell happened?
She parked on the side of the road enough to be far away from the scene but close enough to see the current situation. Lizzie carefully unbuckled her seatbelt, "What happened mommy?"
"I don't know," spoke Caroline softly to her. Lizzie glanced at her mother, "There is a lot of magic surrounding that place."
Josie nodded in agreement as the twins looked at the scene with her mother. Caroline froze for a moment as turned to her daughter, "How about we go see Aunt Bonnie tomorrow?"
The twins nodded in excitement. Caroline smiles at them as she was excited to see Bonnie as well. Caroline began to drive back home as she eyed the scene from her rear mirror. What the hell happened to Gloria?
Was she alive?
Her question was answered when she spotted a familiar doppelgรคnger with Stefan walking out of the alley.
What the hell is Katherine and Stefan doing together?
Chicago had been a trip to answer some questions instead she leaves the city with more questions then she started with.
