"Incoming!"
Peter and David took flight while Penelope Warped away from the two beams of light. The beams caused a massive explosion that made the host of Pit recoil in fear.
"Geez!" Peter shouted before aiming his Palutena Bow and firing arrows nonstop.
Abaddon merely shielded and deflected the blue arrows with his wings, flicking them away as if they were mere flies.
Peter gulped at seeing his projectiles but steeled his resolve and charged with the First Blade. Abaddon noticed the host of Pit charging towards him and flew in.
Upon collision, the angelic host fired from the Blade weapon. To his shock, the archangel ignored the shots. The host was rammed, sending him to the ground.
Abaddon smirked at the fall of the angel before he caught an Electroshock Arm from David, who had attempted to sneak attack. The archangel flung the host of Dark Pit away, created two discs and fired them towards the goth host.
David caught himself before seeing the discs approaching. He switched to his Virdi Claws, slashing through the photokinetic projectiles. The mirrored angle host went to attack, going for a close range attempt but Abaddon ditched one set of his wings and threw them.
Taken aback, the goth braced himself with the Shock Orbitars. The wings scratched the shields nonstop, the host straining to keep it together.
Abaddon had a sickly smile before getting hit behind. He turned to see Penelope, levitating and glowing with Palutena's symbol behind her.
"Lucky shot." The archangel snarled before giving his full attention to the goddess host.
His next attack was a wave of light which was intercepted with Reflect-Barrier. The green haired female discarded the barrier before casting Heavenly Light. Holy light shined down, washing over the archangel.
After Heavenly Light ended, Abaddon showed himself completely unscathed. "Cute trick."
He generated a multitude of independent light orbs before sending a barrage of holy light. Penelope casted Aries' Armor, enduring every beam but it slowly took its toll on her.
Finding satisfaction in the goddess host getting hurt, Abaddon directed himself to David once again, who was getting smacked around like a doll by his separated wings. As hilarious as it would seem, the archangel stopped his assault and fired a direct beam into David's chest.
Luckily, the damage was not fatal but David was sent falling. Abaddon descended, grabbing the goth by the throat.
"I was expecting a challenge," the archangel said in a bored tone.
"Ask and you shall receive!"
Abaddon turned right as an explosive round went off in his face, letting him drop the dark winged host.
Peter, while battered, smiled at getting the archangel with his Leo Cannon. He fired another round, but the archangel appeared right in front of him.
Enlarging his wings, Abaddon slammed his six set of wings together with the host of Pit in the middle. Peter was crushed before getting a push-kick from the devoted follower knocking him to the ground. "Must you all use sneak attacks?"
"It worked didn't it?" Peter groaned out before Abaddon stomped on his chest. With his wings positioned to strike, the archangel was ready to end the host's life.
In the air, the light barrage began to let up which allowed Penelope cast Brief Invincibility on herself. Now ignoring the strikes, she used Interference in an attempt to subdue the archangel for a small window. Abaddon felt his powers fade for a short time, allowing Peter to pull out a Violet Palm and absorb some essence from the archangel. Then Peter fired a close range blast, skidding Abaddon back.
"Hmph." The archangel grunted before feeling his powers return. A black arrow shot directly through his chest, clutching it in pain before growing angry with the attacker.
David, holding Dark Pit's Staff, grinned at his aim before shifting to his Silver Bow before sending a volley of purple arrows to the devotee. Enraged of the cheap shot, Abaddon took off as his powers fully returned and created a ball and chain of light. Swinging the photokinetic weapon, David was struck in the chest, getting the wind knocked out of him before Abaddon appeared and elbowed from behind. The goth host was sent to a broken pillar and the archangel followed afterward, landing on the host's back.
"You sicken me," the devotee snarled.
"Explosive Flame!"
An explosion went off in front of Abaddon before Penelope rushed in with the combination of Super Speed and Angelic Missile. The special attacks sent Abaddon rocketing but caught himself before light energy gathered in one area and went off like a meteor shower event. Peter and David sent up their Guardian Orbitars to block the incoming strikes while Penelope summoned Black Hole, sucking majority of the light meteors into the vortex. After the light show ended, a wave of light knocked all three hosts back.
Each of them caught their breath, panting after the onslaught.
"Man, this guy doesn't quit!" Peter vented.
"Well, he is an archangel," David replied before Abaddon teleported in front of them.
"Indeed, I am. Care to repent?"
Peter pulled out the First Blade, David spun the Dark Pit Staff, and Penelope used Pisces' Heal to the best of her ability to heal.
"Guess not." Abaddon answered for them, sent three separate beams of lights that split the ground beneath them and exploded. The two angelic hosts laid on the floor while Penelope was battered but stood tall in front of the archangel.
"I must admit," the devotee began to monologue, "I would think the 'goddess' would want to reign all over the world. You battle the forces of darkness all the time. Surely you would agree."
'I have also fought alongside villains who use such abilities. Balance is necessary. Why is that difficult for you to see?' Palutena said which her host repeated.
"I plan to bring absolute light to this world! And the one true goddess will return, praise my work and be free from her duality heritage!" Abaddon claimed. His wings dispatched his six sets of wings, before spinning around and created three separate blasts to eradicate the hosts.
"Farewell."
"CANILU!"
Abaddon barely registered what happened as Hydra, the Spinner of Destiny, spun her way through the archangel. Sent flying, the devotee regained his wings before growling as he saw Bailey on a pillar posed while her Wicked Weaves retreated to Inferno.
"Now, now," the host of Bayonetta 2 taunted, "That's no way to treat my friends."
"Another agent of darkness!?" the mad archangel growled before targeting her. Bailey smirked before using Witch Time and glided away before Bella came in, wearing Odette and sliced with kicks at the devotee. After her assault, Bella began to summon an Infernal of her own.
"AFAA TADAAG NAPTA!"
Out came the fists of Hekatoncheir, socking the archangel across the Sky Ruins. He cratered in the ground before receiving a barrage of relentless punches from the Shatterer of the Earth.
"Hope that keeps him occupies him long enough," Bella quipped as Bailey helped Peter and David to their feet. Penelope casted Health Recovery on the two angel hosts before address the two Umbrans.
"You followed us?" Penelope inquired.
Bailey said, "You looked like you were in need of assistance."
Penelope was about to retort, but failed to. She admits if the Umbran duo had not intervened, she could have been possibly obliterated. A roar brought the three conscious hosts to the deranged archangel.
Abaddon had been able to push against one of Hekatoncheir's fists before punching it. The impact caused the fist and demon as a whole to retreat to Inferno. The archangel soon glared with a luminous glow in his eyes, furious at the two darkness users.
"Why is he eyeing us like that?" Bella said, pulling out Scarborough Fair. Bailey pulled out Love is Blue and Penelope used her staff to send the angel duo away for the time being.
"He hates darkness," Penelope answered.
"Ah," Bailey replied then fired Bullet Arts towards the archangel. Abaddon conjured a light shield, deflecting the magical bullets before flying at high speeds towards the trio. The second Umbran host swapped to Undine, sending flames towards the devotee who swerved away.
Abaddon summoned light spheres and fired away but the Umbran duo used Witch Time, slowing down the projectiles for enough time to dodge. Penelope fired Autoreticle from a distance, landing a few hits on the archangel but he just snarled at the attempts. The devotee fired several light beams, attempting to obliterate all of them. With no time for Witch Time, the three hosts avoided in their own manner.
Bella cartwheeled, firing stray Bullet Arts any moment she got, and Penelope used Jump Glide to evade. Bailey used Panther Within, running away and pouncing onto a pillar and reforming into her human form to land a Witch Twist but Abaddon grabbed her leg before hurling her away. She landed back first before flipping and landing on her feet, now casting a glare on the archangel.
"Infuriated are you?" Abaddon snarked just as Bailey harden her glare.
"I'm not one to be thrown around like a doll," the Bayonetta 2 host replied before using her Wicked Weaves.
"CNOQUODI!" Summoning a portal to Inferno, Mictlantecuhtli came spinning out and flew through the archangel. The six-winged devotee was knocked back and planned to chase down the Presser of Destruction but it retreated to Inferno. Abaddon let out a roar of anger before sending a wave of light towards the Umbran who leapt in the air and summoned Malphas' wings before engaging in an aerial dogfight.
"He doesn't look like he'll be stopping anytime soon," Bella remarked to Penelope, who shook her head.
"No. He's filled with hate. Determined to cleanse this world from any darkness."
"Wow... devoted much?" the African American quipped, "How do we stop him?"
"I'm unsure... we need to be careful... I just hope Peter and David have recovered by now..." the goddess host said with worry.
"Ugh..." Peter groaned, feeling his body ache and hurt from all places.
"Up and at 'em, sunshine," David said, reaching out a hand towards the cheerleader. Peter was lifted up, his body still aching from the attack.
"Any chance you know what happened?" The angelic host asked.
"Not a clue," the emo replied, "But I think Bella and Bailey are here."
"What makes you say that?"
David pointed to a small opening that revealed the three women fighting the archangel. "Message received."
"Well, what are we waiting for?" David before pulling out his Staff, "Let's make some hate."
"Hold on," Peter said causing the emo to look at him with a raised eyebrow. "What if we... maybe... got some back-up?"
David was nearly floored at this, "Back-Up. You want us to get back-up."
"Yes."
"Right now."
"Yes."
"In the middle of a death match."
"David, I'm serious!" Peter shouted, "Look... as much as I don't want to admit but we might be way out of our league here. This archangel is practically a God! You saw his victims! What if that's us next?!"
"You forget the trophy rule," the emo recalled, "Look, the odds are against. Same thing happened with Master Core. And you are acting like we didn't beat... whatever Master Core was."
"This is different," Peter reasoned, "He wants to eradicate all the darkness in the world. Something that seems cosmic level dangerous!"
"What's with you?" David argued back, "You have never been one to turn tail and run behind back up." The dark angel host crossed his arms, "You're afraid aren't you?"
"T-that's not true!" Peter denied.
"Really?" the emo said with an raised eyebrow, "The Peter I know would not be sulking so much. The Peter I know would have been right back into the fight, regardless of the first fight. What happened to that cheerleader?"
"Alright! Alright! Fine!" Peter yelled, something that made David step back. "You wanna know what it is? Well, here's the issue! I don't think I'm good enough, there I said it! I feel like I haven't been pulling my weight and, yes, it's affecting my actions and moves. I've been trying to be better, why do you think I challenged Penelope during our matches. She's practically a goddess! And I thought I could beat her, just once, to feel like I've improved since my newcomer days."
David took in everything his 'opposite' said before folding his arms. "Well, you can't just mope about it. I hate to admit you're right but as long as we're still standing, each host, we aren't backing down. So, I'm going to fight." The emo left before saying one last thing.
"You can either mope here and watch the world fall into pure light, creating unbalance or you can get up and bring your A-Game like the Peter I know. The most stubborn person I've ever met." David unfurled his wings before taking off to fight Abbadon.
Peter fell to his knees, taking in everything his 'opposite' had said to him.
David was right. He kept kicking himself while he was down. He thought back to when he was first summoned. Surprised but managed to pick it up and team up with Matt before meeting everyone else. Peter had improved. Even if he couldn't beat Penelope, he could always try and try again.
But Abaddon was on a whole new level. He wasn't sure what exactly to expect from the archangel but he had to have a weak spot. The cheerleader got to his feet before searching the hallways of the ruined Sky Temple.
'Where are we going?' Pit asked his host, 'The battle is the other way!'
"Pit, if we are going to defeat Abaddon, we need to find something about him that can give us an edge." Peter replied and ran down the temple to find a clue.
