"All down to a rock wall that I notice through a window, but when I finally reach the door, it opens automatically and saw all this, and I nearly passed out," said Ron
"I froze for a few minutes," said Bonnie
"As soon I saw those large windows and a sky full of stars, I almost fainted," said Kim
"What I saw at the time was more rock, and I thought I was still on the rocky part of the island! Then all these display panels started to come on by themselves. A hologram figure appeared in the middle of the room and started to speak with me," said Ron
"I have recorded that meeting, and It may be better if I played it for you," said Mai
Another Beginning
Chapter 9
"Sounds good to me. My throat is dry," said Ron as he ordered some water from the food replicator and sat down with Tara. Mai began to play the video. To the girls, the hologram looked different than Mai.
The hologram smiled and said, "Welcome to the Terran research and development construction outpost,"
"Thank you, but can I ask where is this Terran research and development construction outpost?" asked Ron
"The outpost you are in is situated within a large asteroid of the Terran solar system," said the hologram, and Ron started to go white and began to panic,
"Y You m-mean we are in space!" said Ron
"Yes," said the hologram
"This is too much! You're telling me that I am in space now?" it was then that Ron felt dizzy as the shock of being in space started to freak him out even more than being standard on an island. "I need to sit down," said Ron as he sat on the only chair in the room. The hologram smile and show him the chair. They laughed more when they saw Ron fainting on the chair. Mai stopped the video.
"The chair Ron just fainted in is similar to what the Ancients call a control chair. This one was a modified chair personally created for me by one of the Ancients. What you see next is what Ron saw in his mind while sitting on that chair," said Mai
"You can do that?" said Kim
"Yes, I can look and read all your memories and even change them. Now I have to tell you that you will also hear a repeat of the information you have been told. This was the first time Ron learned about the Ancients," said Mai, then the video started again.
Inside Ron's mind, he was met by the same hologram and introduced himself, "Hello, Ronald. My name is Janus,"
"Where am I?" asked Ron
"You had just collapsed onto a control chair of mine. I am talking to you through the interface of the chair you just sat on. I am here to tell you everything you need to know, then I will be handing you over the Mai," said Janus
"Who is Mai?" said Ron
"He is the original AI of this base," said Janus
"So I am in space? How did I get here?" said Ron, and the hologram smiled.
"You came here through the Astria Porta, or what your kind call a Stargate," said the hologram
"I don't understand?" Said Ron.
"Let me help you. The chair you are sitting on is one of my people's creations that I have modified for this reason. It is called a control chair,"
"What does it control?" asked Ron,
"It controls this outpost. You know what a bridge of a ship is?"
"That's where the captain controls his ship,"
"Good, well, this is what this chair does, but I have redesigned the chair to be a repository of knowledge of my people. I redesigned it at your AI request over twenty thousand years ago. Because of your enemies, the Stargate that brought you here is more of a safety protocol door. I had to make sure that not just anyone can use it, only you," said the hologram. Then Mai froze the video when Kim raised her hand.
"Mai, I thought you said that this was a spaceship?" asked Kim
"It is. I instructed Janus to make it easy for Ron to understand at the time," said Mai,
"And I can say it did help to calm me down at the time," said Ron, and Kim smiled and nodded, so Mai began the video again.
"How did you know I would even be there to use it?"
"That is the beauty of time travel Ron?" said Janus
"Time travel?" said Ron
"Yes, before we get into that, your people call my people the Ancients. We are also known as the Ancestors, or Lanteans, the Gate Builders. We call ourselves Anquietas in my language, but most of the universe calls us Alterans. We left our home galaxy long ago to come to your Milky Way galaxy and seeded it with life. We are best known as the builders of the Stargates. When we returned to this galaxy just over ten thousand years ago and found this world populated by early man. Most of us ascended to a higher plane of existence with near-infinite knowledge and powerful abilities. Those that were left behind were unable to restart our empire. So they stayed behind to breed with the native humans to set a path for the future and create future civilizations,"
The girls listened as Janus told him the whole history of his people. Finally, the video changed again. The girls saw Ron getting off the chair and holding his head. Ron turned to the hologram and said, "Is this why you built this outpost?"
"I didn't build this outpost; Mai did!" said Janus smiling.
"Your not a hologram are you?" said Ron. Janus looked at him, "I can feel you with my powers,"
"Your powers do you well, Ronald! No, I am an ascended Ancient and have just taken over the true AI to talk to you. I lived a little over 10 thousand years ago, and before I ascended, I received a letter from myself telling me to help Mai to leave all of my people's knowledge in his cityship. After I created my first-time gateship, my council decided to ban any further time travel research. The letter then convinced me to continue my research in secret," said Janus
"Is there any chance that it was you that sent me those letters?" asked Ron
"No, that was Mai. You will meet him as soon as I finish. I did meet you on another timeline when you were killed in this world's original timeline. Oma Desala ascended you after she thought that you were too pure of heart and didn't deserve death, after which you became a real pain in the side of the council many times. Ron, do you understand about timelines and dimensions?" asked Janus.
"Well, sort of. A different thought or action can change timelines," said Ron
"Change one timeline, and you change the future into another dimension," said Janus
"It's very confusing. If I understand you correctly, the timeline where I died and ascended is now a different timeline?" said Ron
"Yes, Mai will tell you more of this later. Using these letters, he is helping you and your friends to survive what fate has installed for you," said Janus
"So what do you have installed for me?" asked Ron
"That depends on Mai, this timeline has changed thanks to Mai again, and I do not know what he has installed for you're future; maybe he can save it this time," said Janus
"So I died on the beach?" said Ron
"Yes, but if he left you dead, your Kim would have given up crime fighting, and this Dr. Drakken would take over most of the world. Then world war three would have started earlier than it should have, with the planet being completely destroyed, leaving it a burnt-out husk, even with the help of Stargate Command," said Janus
"Stargate Command?" asked Ron.
"Mai will tell you about them shortly, but I will say goodbye, Ronald, as my time with you has come to an end," said Janus
"Wait a minute, how many times have I died?" asked Ron, then the video stopped.
On a higher plain, unknown to Mai and the four friends.
Unknown to everyone, another part of the story takes place when Janus returns to meet Daniel in the 50-style cafe, "Well, Hello, Daniel,"
"Janus? And what are you up to?" said Daniel with a smile.
"Something I have been planning for a long time," said Janus
"And what is that?" said Daniel
"Oh, nothing important, but you may need to go to a place called Middleton as soon as you return and find someone called Ronald Stoppable," said Janus as he smiled.
"What have you done?" asked Daniel
"Can't tell you anymore, Daniel," said Janus, and he left.
Back on Earth

"So this Janus was an ascended Ancient?" said Kim
"Yes, he helped me to rebuild this ship into a huge space-station, cross cityship that it is now," said Mai
"So it is as big as a moon," said Bonnie
"Like the old movie saying, that's no moon?" said Ron
"Yes, and I am glad you remember that, Ron," said Mai
"Don't tell me that movie is real as well?" Said Tara, and Mai smiled
"So if this ship is a construction-star-station-cityship? What can you build?" asked Kim
"Any design that has been placed into my computers, including the Repository of knowledge," said, Mai
"Repository of knowledge?" asked Ron.
