a/n: sorry its so short, but i thought an I Love Lucy fic should be up.
"But Ricky-" she started.
"Don't 'but Ricky' me, Lucy." yelled Ricky. "You have just disobeyed me big time!"
"Gloria Cruz isn't any actress anyway!" Lucy protested.
"Oh, so thats why she has starred in over 50 movies!" retorted her furious husband.
"But I'm twice the actress Gloria Cruz is!"
"So that's why the director was screaming, huh, Lucy?"
"Ugh."
Why was Ricky going all beserk? thought Lucy. All she had done was pretend
to be Gloria Cruz and act for Mr.Capra. It wasn't that big of a deal anyway. But why
couldn't her husband acknowledge that she had real talent? She deserved to be on
Broadway in her opinion. Even Ethel had said so, although hesitantly. But that little escapade certaintly
was fun........
"Put the drums there and put the set over there." Ricky ordered the stage
manager.
"Oh hi Ricky," said Lucy, entering," How is it coming?"
"Great Lucy, and everything is in place for the performance tonight." said her husband
happily.
"Anyone call in sick yet?" she asked hopefully.
"No, but get this, Mr.Capra is here! He's coming to see Gloria Cruz and let
her audition for his new movie!"
"Oh, you have to let me try out too, Ricky!"
"No, Lucy absolutely not! No, No, NO!" he answered.
"But maybe if Mr.Capra sees me act, he'll cast me in one of his moviesh
"Ethel's here. Why don't you talk to her? I'm much too busy." he said to his wife.
"Ethel, Ricky won't let me try out!" whined Lucy.
"But he should. I mean- yeah, you should at least give it a shot, sweetie." assured Ethel.
Lucy ran off, crying.
"Now look what you've done. Never tell her about these oppurtunities, Ricky! I
thought you had learned by now!" scolded Ethel.
"I just can't please them." Ricky said to Fred.
"Excuse me, are you Gloria Cruz?" asked a stage hand.
"Me? Uh, yes I am." said Lucy.
"Here's your dress." He handed her a gorgeous crimson gown." Be ready in a
half an hour."
" Of course, I'll be ready." Lucy said, grinning.
"Mr.Capra will see you now." the same stage hand said.
"Thank you." she said and walked in.
"Hello, Ms.Cruz."
"Hello, Mr.Capra."
"Might I say you aren't looking like yourself?" said the director suspiciously.
"Oh, I just have a little fever, nothing to be worried about. May I see the script?" she pressed.
"No, I think I should call the manager of this place. We can arrange this meeting another time if you're
not feeling well."
"But-"
"I really insist. Ricky, get in here." he said.
"What is it, Mr.Capra?" he ran in, breathless.
"Ms.Cruz here-" he gestured to Lucy," isn't feeling well. Would you mind arranging this another time?"
"But that's not Gloria Cruz, that's my wife, Lucy."
Lucy just shrugged.
"The dress is nice." she tried.
"Lucy! What are you doing!'' he yelled. Oh no, she thought.
"Are you mad, Ricky?"
"Hey, she just wanted a little fame. Lay off of her!" cut in Mr.Capra. He winked at her.
"I just hope you learned your lesson." he said, calm.
"I did, Ricky. Don't be mad."
"Of course not. I love Lucy!"
