The Quest

A journey begun so long ago
In a dimly lit chamber
The clan elders ever vigilant over us
While we shared those first waking moments
With others as young as I

Even then I knew she was special
Something about her called my attention
Her aura so powerful and so deliciously sweet
I was unable to resist, nor did I wish to
I knew then that my life was hers as well

Her eyes hypnotic and enchanting
A smile that took my breath away
I knew not why I felt this way
I just knew there was something magical
In that jade-green girl with the double set of wings

Life's journeys and time's inexorable march
Carried us apart through diverging roads
My heart torn asunder as I lost her
Tears burning like molten fire down my cheeks
My heart and soul screaming as Fate took her from me.

Dreams, dreams, and more dreams
More journeys down many different roads
Forever sailing the timestreams
Exploring kingdoms, empires and realms unknown
Forever searching on the endless quest for knowledge

Times change and so did I
Today I am trapped in an evil construct of human Hell
Searching for escape and dreaming once again
That I will one day regain my wings and regain the sight
Of that four-winged angel who stole my heart so long ago.
