Someday
February 5, 2000 3:23 am. A stormy night….
Catie Roth slowly picked up the phone as she dialed Jamie Waite's number. She knew she could count on him to be there when she was scared. Her parents were probably off getting into trouble somewhere.
"Jamie." She said into the phone. Crossing her arms.
"Catie!" He said worried. "Are you alright." He was sleeping in hid bed. He picked up the phone to hear his really good friend talking to him, scared.
"No, Jamie. I'm not. I don't know what's wrong with me. My parents are gone. I don't know where they are. I - I don't care now. But, I'm scared Jamie. I'm so lost. I don't know where I am!!!" She screamed. She started crying hysterically.
"What!? Catie. You know where are. Your at your house." Jamie said calming her down, by now he was standing up wishing he was there comforting her.
"Oh…. Jamie." She said crying shaking her head silently. "What have I done." She sighed and let go of the phone.
Dial tone.
"Catie! Catie, talk to me!" He said. He frantically threw jeans and his 'Make It Stop' tee, from that day on the floor. He grabbed his keys and ran down the steps.
"James! Where are you going?!" Jamie's mother, Jeanine, yelled from up the steps.
"Mom, I have to go help Ca-" He began but thought, " I'm on call. I got a call."
"But James-"
"Bye!"
He got into his car and drove to Caties house. He ran into her house but the door was locked.
"Catie!" He pounded on the door. By the time he knocked down the door, it had been a few minutes. He ran threw the kitchen and found her on the living room floor the phone still off the hook, lying in her hand. Jamie didn't know what to do, of course, he was a trained EMT. He cradled her limp body in his arms and swayed her back and forth. He noticed her stomach wasn't moving up and down.
'OMG! She's not breathing!' He screamed to himself. He lifted her head and felt her neck. There was a pulse! He took a few seconds and thanked God.
"Jamie…" She breathed out.
"Catie. Are you alright." He asked a smile forming on his face.
"Jamie, It's time for me to go." She said gaining enough strength to reach her hand to his face.
"No, you'll be fine. Your speaking." Jamie whispered, hoping she wasn't right.
"Goodbye, Jamie." Catie said, in a whispered voice. She breathed out her last words.
He had to accept the fact that she left him, but for a few moments he couldn't accept it. He cried and cried, holding her growing-cold body. He finally said in a crakly voice, "Don't go far... I'll see you again... someday."
He knew he would see her again.
Well, what'd ya think!! I know… sappy. And, come to think of it it's sort of like Darkchilde's 'Close Your Eyes'. Sorry, if that defended you, Darkchilde, if you think it's too much like yours I'll delete it! Just tell me. See you all! Please R&R!!
