Why

This is a letter type fic, written from Peter's point of view to his wife, Elisabeth.

Disclaimer: I don't own Peter, Lily, James, Sirius, Voldie, and any other characters you recognize from JK Rowling's marvelous books. I do, however, own Elisabeth (sorta). She's her own person; I just use her in my stories.

Now, on with the story…

Why

Dear Elisabeth,

I'm sorry. I hope this letter will explain everything about what I did and why I did it.

This is the last time you will ever hear from me.

After you read this letter, tell no one, not Catrina, not Ginger, NO ONE! If you do tell, I will find out and you will be sorry you told.

Things I am about to tell you will blow your mind. I am in league with Lord Voldemort.

Lily and James changed their Secret-Keeper from Sirius to me. They didn't know I was in league with him. No one knew I was.

I'm sorry Elisabeth. I never meant to harm you or anyone else I care about. I was attracted to this whole situation because I'm not strong, powerful, or brave. I wanted somewhere that I would be safe from harm.

Back to my sad tale, Darling.

When they had preformed the spell, I too went into hiding. But two days after the spell was done, I returned to my lord. I told him where the Potters were hiding. I told him everything.

I had no care for what would happen to others, just what would happen to me. I have regretted that action ever since.

As to the story of my so-called death, Sirius and I met on a Muggle street. He asked me why I sacrificed them; I knew I couldn't tell him the truth. So I pretended to be confronting him about their death. I went on long enough to make it sound convincing. Then I cut off my finger, blew up the street, and became a rat.

I lived in the sewers for a while. I then found my way to Diagon Alley to a pet store. I was sold to a little boy.

All I can tell you is that I love you. And that I will never go back to Voldemort. But I can never come back to you either.

Love,

Peter

PS Remember- SHOW THIS TO NO ONE. Tell NO ONE about the content of this letter. And always remember- I LOVE YOU!
