No Longer A Child
I am no longer a child,
Why can't you people see it?
You say I am a part of you,
And then "go away" or "beat it."
Believe it or not, I have grown up
In more ways than one
I understand the battles we fight
They're not just plain fun.
You must realize, I am a help
When you really need me.
But other times, you make me stay,
You go away and leave me.
I'm a part of the team,
Just like you or you,
I've proved it many times.
And then you chide me for doing wrong,
As if making a mistake is a crime.
I hope one day, you'll understand
That I can hold my ground
And that I'm no longer a child,
In deed, nor sight, nor sound
