Until You Sleep

Ever since the first day he saw her, he knew that deep down in his soul, they were meant to be. She had brought that certain joy to his life that he could have never had without her. She had rescued him from death when she found him on the beach. But that was another time, that was during the war, ironic how he should be happier now that the war was over, but everyone knew that when she left them, a part of him died and went with her.
He walked through the wet grass, through the graveyard. It seemed like an eternity since he had been there, he couldn't go there often, it killed him every time he saw the name etched on the gravestone. He saw them up ahead, a look of sadness on their faces. He envied them, Duo and Hilde would be together forever. Wufei and Sally had each other too. Trowa and Quatre had their families. He on the other hand had nobody.
He approached them, he approached the gravestone, he was approaching her. He could feel the tears leaking down his face, for once he didn't care, he knew that they wouldn't say anything. He loved her forever, his biggest regret was never telling her. He stood in front of the grave, and dropped down to his knees. He kissed his fingertips and ran them over the name. Relena Darlian.
Duo placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's ok buddy. Let it all out, we understand." He suddenly felt the anger rise up in him. He stood up and screamed. "No! You don't understand," his face was red and streaked with tears, he shook dangerously "you will never understand! Every one of you here has someone, if you don't then you have a family. I envy you, I have no one. The only one I loved is dead, and you know the worst of it? I never got to tell her that. She never heard me say that I loved her more than anything." Again Duo walked up, "Man, you haven't learned a thing, you didn't have to tell her a damn thing, she knew all along that you loved her. And haven't you learned that you aren't all alone, dammit man you have us." Still shaking he sighed. "Would you give me a minute?" "Sure man, anything you want, you got it." He sat down in front of the grave again. "Sorry you had to see that. I guess you know it now, I love you Relena, I always have and I always will. Promise me something, promise me that you will wait for me." He stood up again and started to walk away, he looked back once, then continued walking. "I'll be back next week." He mermured.
Relena looked down at him "Oh Heero, I love you too. I promise Heero, I will wait for you, until you sleep."
