It all started in the year 1900, one year after the infamous newsie strike in New York City led by Jack Kelly and David Jacobs. The Manhattan newsies had started the strike because Joseph Pulitzer, the owner of the New York World, ten cents a hundred. They brought together all of the newsies of New York and held protests and rallies. Finally Pulitzer gave in and the price was brought back down.
