I Am A Rock
The snow swirled around the large building. Driving up in his
limo, the "People's Champion" raised an eye brow.
"Figures there would be a blizzard tonight," he muttered under
his breath.
"A winters day,
it ain't deep and dark december.
The peole all loved him. But they loved his act, not him. And
he preffered it. He gazed out the window while on the bridge. Cars
rushed by on the street below. Paying no heed to him.
"I am a alone,
gazing from my window
to the streets below a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow."
He was the Rock. The Brahma Bull. He didn't need anyone by
himself. He didn't need any help. Too many people have tried to help
him and had ended up hurting him. Foley, Rikishi, now he had Deborah
to contend with. Not to mention her husband.
"I am a rock,
I am a island.
I've been a wall,
of fortress deep and mighty,
that nothing may penetrate."
Friends. Yeah, they might consider themselves his friends. But
the Rock had no need of friends. They made you more vulnerable. And
they could stab you in the back without a second thought. Like Rikishi.
"I have no need of friendship.
Rriendship causes pain.
Its laughter and loving I disdain."
Stepping out of his limo, he flashed his smile at the crowd. More
of a smirk, but oh well. It was only a show. He was nothing more to
them than the Rock, they didn't know his real feelings.
"I am a rock,
I am an island."
Had the Rock ever loved? Sure, but like all relationships, it
had hurt when it ended. Since then he had just shut it out of his mind.
It was only another distraction to contend with.
"Don't talk of love,
I've heard the word before.
Its sleeping in my memory.
I won't disturb the slumber
of feelings that have died.
If i never loved I never would have cried.
I am a rock.
I am an island."
He was content to stay no more than his words. The fancy speeches
he put on for them. Sure some of them harsh, but it amused them. And
more importantly, it amused him.
"I have my books,
and my poetry to protect me.
I'm sheilded in my armor.
Hiding in my room.
Safe within my room."
"Let no one close. Anyone who touches you, make sure they know
they'll lose an arm next time. Thats the only way to be safe," he said
mostly to himself. He walked to his match. No matter what, he would
not let himself hurt again.
"I touch no one and no one touches me.
I am a rock,
and I am and island.
A rock feels no pain.
And an island never cries."
Disclaimer: I do not own WWF or the Rock, he owns himself.
Well, I'm sure this song has been used before. But I still wanted to
use it. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
